Attorneys for former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez argued today that the murder charge against him should be dropped, saying that the prosecution hadn’t established probable cause that he killed Odin L. Lloyd of Boston last June in North Attleborough. The case presented to the grand jury that indicted Hernandez was “woefully lacking,” said attorney James Sultan. But a prosecutor responded in a hearing in Bristol Superior Court with a lengthy recitation of the state’s case against the former star tight end, who also faces charges in a double slaying in A plan to kill Lloyd was “wholly set up by the defendant,” said prosecutor William McCauley. “The evidence would suggest presence, knowledge, and intent to see this thing through,” McCauley said.
