Jalen Smith committed to Maryland basketball Monday night, giving the Terps their second Class of 2018 commit. Smith had just concluded an official visit to Maryland, and didn’t waste much time before making his decision. Smith, out of Mount St. Joseph’s High School in Baltimore, is the No. 2 player in Maryland and the No. 12 power forward in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite. The 4-star prospect is also the No. 29 player in the whole class, which is higher than any recruit Maryland’s signed this century, save for Diamond Stone in 2015. Smith measures in at 6-foot-10 and 195 pounds. He’ll be able to reunite at Maryland with former high school teammate Darryl Morsell, an incoming freshman for the Terps.
