Marvin Bagley is forever going to be a player that is held under a microscope in the NBA.
Bagley was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, going one pick ahead of Luka Doncic.
Doncic has been historically great for the Dallas Mavericks to begin his career while Bagley has struggled to remain healthy and has been inconsistent for the Sacramento Kings.
It’s fair to put some of the blame for Bagley’s lack of development on the Kings, which has caused friction between the Duke product and Sacramento’s organization.
All signs point toward Bagley either being traded or leaving as a restricted free agent in 2022. The notion was furthered after his agent, Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports, released a statement about the Kings taking his client out of their rotation for opening night.
With the Kings likely wanting something in return for the former first-round pick, here are three teams that should pursue a trade for Bagley this season.
Portland Trail Blazers
The direction of the Portland Trail Blazers is dependent on the futures of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum.
Upon the hiring of Chauncey Billups as their head coach, the Trail Blazers would love to keep Lillard as their marquee player to build around for the future.
McCollum is still on the roster, but between Lillard and McCollum, the Lehigh product is more likely to be dealt at some point.
