The New Orleans Pelicans showed impressive resiliency in the 2021-22 NBA season. In the absence of intended franchise player Zion Williamson, they still managed to punch a ticket to the NBA Playoffs.

Unsurprisingly, they didn’t far once they landed there.

They’d have shocked the world by defeating the Phoenix Suns in the first round. They still had an encouraging season that left them with plenty to build on.

Trade rumors still surround Zion Williamson, but they’ve grown a little duller. It’s hard to imagine that, after watching what his teammates accomplished without him, the young star felt like he’d be better off landing elsewhere.

Assuming he’ll be suiting up in the Big Easy next season, this team could be dangerous. With a quality trade or two, that holds doubly true.

Here are three dream trades we think could place the Pelicans firmly in the contending tier of NBA teams.

New York Knicks Receive: F/C Larry Nance Jr., G Garrett Temple

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: G Derrick Rose

Spoiler alert: there will be plenty of point guards in this article.

After all, the New Orleans Pelicans could use one. Their current rotation is solid but lacks a distinct starter. Devonte’ Graham is too defensively limited: Jose Alvarado is the opposite. The team gave C.J. McCollum reps at the position last year, but they’d probably like to return him to his more traditional off-guard spot.
