The Denver Broncos have a rather sturdy roster outside of the quarterback position. The defense is one of the best in the league, the offensive line is improved, as they have the skill position players to compete with the best. There is an important position battle going on for the starting quarterback job, but other than that, the Broncos seem ready for the season.
They play in a tough AFC West division dominated by the Kansas City Chiefs right now, but Denver isn’t too far away from becoming a playoff-caliber team. They seem to still be in the running for Aaron Rodgers, but nothing has come to fruition as of yet.
The guys who get cut this year will be from positions that are already deep. Denver could be a surprise team this season as they have a solid starting lineup and great depth. There will be some obvious cuts throughout training camp, as the Broncos’ main core is nearly a lock. With that said, here are three cut candidates on the Broncos roster bubble entering training camp.
Not much is known about Damarea Crockett, but he’s in a loaded backfield and is competing for a backup role. Melvin Gordon leads the way for now, but the Broncos’ front office selected Javonte Williams in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Royce Freeman is still on the roster and might hold down the third spot on the depth chart.
That leaves Crockett competing with Michael Boone and LeVante Bellamy competing for a spot on the final roster. Crockett’s best bet might be special teams, but he doesn’t fit the build as a return man. Look for the Broncos to establish their backfield early on in training camp, as it seems set in stone already.
