The Miami Hurricanes pulled a stunner on the recruiting trail Thursday night, yanking the top defensive recruit in the nation out of Gator Country.

Cormani McClain, ranked the No. 2 high school senior in the 247Sports Composite, became Mario Cristobal’s latest recruiting victory when he picked the Hurricanes over Alabama and Florida.

McClain had 19 interceptions over his sophomore and junior seasons at Lakeland Lake Gibson High and is considered the top cornerback in the country by most recruiting services.

“Turn me up, I’m going to the University of Miami,” said McClain, who transferred to Lakeland High for his senior year.
