Mike Jurecki recently spoke to a source who suggested that the 2018 NFL salary cap could end up exceeding $180 million once it’s finalized for the upcoming league year. Last we heard, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported a month ago that the NFL distributed 2018 salary cap projections to teams during the financial portion of the league meetings of between $174.2 – $178.1 million. In 2017, the salary cap was set at $167 million per team, which means the NFL is projecting an increase of 6-7 percent from last year. If Jurecki’s source is accurate about topping $180 million, the one-year increase could end up being closer to 8 percent. The final 2018 salary cap figure will available in the coming months.
