Trade rumors circle the Utah Jazz like vultures. They know this core is probably on its last legs after another early exit in the NBA playoffs.

The organization had a terribly disappointing 2021-22 season. They came into the year with championship aspirations, so a first-round exit was never going to suffice.

This summer, they could put anyone on the trade block. Some speculate that Donovan Mitchell will demand a trade. Whether he does or not, it feels likely that Gobert will head elsewhere.

If Mitchell forces his way out of town, the Jazz might as well start over. If he doesn’t, it remains likely that they’ll take a drastic measure to shake this team up. Either way, Gobert feels like the odd man out.

The LA Clippers are not one of the most popular hypothetical Gobert destinations. We wouldn’t rule them out. They already have an army of quality wing defenders in Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and Robert Covington. Adding the league’s best rim protector could make them the best defense in the entire NBA.

Here are two trade ideas to make it happen.

Utah Jazz Receive: F Marcus Morris Sr., G Luke Kennard, C Ivica Zubac, F Brandon Boston Jr., 2027 First-Round Pick (LAC)

LA Clippers Receive: C Rudy Gobert

If the Utah Jazz are triggering a rebuild, this is a solid return for Rudy Gobert. Obviously, they’re not interested in Morris Jr. here. His $16.3 million annual salary is a convenient salary matcher.

Otherwise, they’re getting a bunch of pieces to rebuild with. They’re getting an immediate Gobert replacement in Zubac. Of course, he’s not the same caliber of player, but he is a solid defensive big, and more crucially, he’s four years younger.
