Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina, who had thumb surgery the Friday before the All-Star break, had his cast removed this past week. Molina has been outfitted with several splints, manager Mike Matheny said, and one of them allows for increased movement. Once Molina is able to begin increased activities the Cardinals will have a clearer sense of when he’ll return. • Michael Wacha (stress reaction in shoulder) continues to increase the distance of his flat-ground throwing, stepping back from 90 feet to 120 feet and so on.
