Cardinals Catcher Yadier Molina, who has been out nearly four weeks with a torn ligament in his right thumb, is progressing, manager Mike Matheny said. But the outlook still calls for Molina not to return to the roster until at least September, and Matheny said Molina is not even at the ballpark every day as he recuperates. “What we’re hearing is good,” said Matheny. “There’s not a lot going on. It’s just healing time.” Molina has helped in the pregame strategy sessions and gets regular treatment at Busch Stadium, but Matheny said he’s told Molina to spend time with his family, too. “We’re trying to keep him from going crazy. He wants to be out there so bad,” Matheny said.
