Jaguars free safety Tashaun Gipson is probably like a lot of us when it comes to cornerback A.J. Bouye. He didn’t know a lot about Bouye’s game when he signed in March. (After all, Bouye started only 19 games in his four years with Houston and was overshadowed by multiple marquee names on the Texans’ defense.) But Gipson quickly liked Bouye’s game following a short observation period. Others on the Jaguars’ defense have generated more chatter – Calais Campbell’s sacks, Telvin Smith’s contract and Jalen Ramsey’s coverage – during their 6-3 start. But don’t overlook the impact Bouye has made on the league’s top passing and scoring defense. Entering Sunday’s game at Cleveland, Bouye has been durable (574 of 588 snaps), fundamentally sound (only two missed tackles) and excellent in coverage (46.4 opponent’s passer rating).
