The Houston Rockets completed a back-to-back on Monday, losing both games to New Orleans and Phoenix. Here are two big-picture observations from those recent matchups.

Losses continue to pile, but moral victories should count

Between now and the end of the regular season, the Rockets should be using these games as learning experiences for the future.

There are several development traits to track with this young group — Kevin Porter Jr.’s development, figuring out the long-term pieces, on-court chemistry and, most importantly, winning habits.

One of Houston’s issues this season has been their failure to finish close games. Head coach Stephen Silas has been disappointed with the late-game collapses, citing “distractions” as one of the reasons for losing. Whether it was complaining about shot distribution, becoming frustrated with the officials or a general lack of execution, the Rockets seem to find new ways to lose on a nightly basis.
