Richard Seymour is out of the World Series of Poker.
Or, more interestingly put, Richard Seymour was in the World Series of Poker — and it turns out, played pretty well.
The former Patriots defensive tackle finished in 131st place out of 8,569 entrants, taking home $59,295 after investing $10,000 to enter. It’s not the first time Seymour has entered the tournament — he seems to have made something of a career of it. A 2017 ESPN article said he had made over $125,000 from the endeavor at the time.
“I really get to compete from a mental intelligence standpoint, while expanding and growing with the game,” Seymour, a seven-time Pro Bowler, told ESPN in 2017. “I have always thought that the game of poker was about people, relationships and situations where you have to make really good decisions on the spot. I am fascinated with poker and really enjoy the game.”
