Lately, you might have noticed on your social media timelines flooded with videos #IceBucketChallenge. The ‘Ice Bucket Challenge’ is part of a viral movement to spread awareness of ALS, commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Everyone from Martha Stewart to Sidney Crosby to Justin Timberlake have taken the challenge.

Arizona Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle recently took part and challenged NHL tough guy/former teammate Paul Bissonnette to do the same. Its accurate to say he stepped up but that doesn't tell the whole story as he kind of went overboard and raised the bar for all future participants.

Roger Goodell also took part in the challenge, of course its against internet rules to praise Goodell in the wake of the Ray Rice decision. Kudos to the NFL commissioner for giving the internet another reason to bash on him.

If you question how much this helps the ALS cause Carol Hamilton told the Boston Herald that ‘We are seeing 10 times the number of online donations everyday’ and ‘We are seeing an incredible number of people who didn’t know much about ALS last week and who do today’.

Great work by everyone involved.
