Anyone that is trying to lose weight knows how absolutely miserable it is. But at least with your standard diet, there is an extended timeline to achieve the results you're looking for. In the world of combat sports that isn’t the case and dropping weight fast is a dark side of the industry.

Paige VanZant knows this struggle all too well. The UFC fighter that normally walks around at 135 posted a pair of shocking pictures Wednesday showing her attempt to cut down to 115 pounds, including one of her on a bathroom floor.

The UFC fighter recently talked to The MMA Hour’s Ariel Helwani about the struggles of making weight in the 115-pound division.

VanZant expects to be much more comfortable fighting at 125 pounds. "I’m a big advocate for body positivity and I was putting myself through an eating disorder to make weight," she said.

VanZant was supposed to make her 125-pound debut at UFC 216 against Jessica Eye. She had to pull out of the fight because of injuries. Now, she's working on her return and will soon make a return to the cage at a weight that won't require her to nearly kill herself.
