The Twitter detectives are back at it again. In an NL East duel between the Mets and Phillies on Monday night, baseball fans noticed some suspicious activity from Noah Syndergaard.
On a cool Monday night, Syndergaard could have used some pine tar for some extra grip. Fans have suspected many pitchers use pine tar, but the MLB has not been handing out any punishment. It's one of those rules the majority of baseball ignores for the most part.
It's possible that Syndergaard is being falsely accused. He still ended up giving up five runs in five innings against the Phillies, but he did have nine strikeouts. His rough start to the season might temper that suspicion for now.
