Friendly FYI, later this week the NHL has a couple of pre-season games in China in an attempt to grow their sport in Asian markets. The Canucks and Kings will play against each other in the first of these games.

I’m not an expert in brand marketing, but you know what would really help grow hockey in Asia? Letting players compete in the Olympics in South Korea, you know the best players in the world wrapped in their countries flag going for gold. In the proper time zone.

Judging by this footage and these photos from the Canucks first practice China is 100 percent ready for ice hockey.

The Vancouver Canucks and LA Kings are currently in China and they’ll play in Shanghai on Thursday and then in Beijing on the 23rd.
