Kicking off with thoughts on the release of Buffalo Bills quarterback Trent Edwards: I've seen worse QBs in Bills history. Many of his predecessors would've been hard-pressed to match his 14-18 record under the circumstances. But what did he do well? He had the guts to take his lumps behind a substandard offensive line. Unfortunately, he had average-at-best mobility and was hurt a lot. He didn't have a particularly strong arm and lacked touch on short-to-medium passes. All things considered, it is surprising the current coaching staff saw enough in Edwards to start him for the first two games this season but not enough to keep him around. I rate Rob Johnson and J.P. Losman above Edwards as"

If there was any doubt whether or not Trent Edwards is the Bills' No. 1 quarterback, there shouldn't be anymore. Yes, it's just the preseason, and yes, some of his work Saturday night came against Cincinnati's backups. But Edwards looked sharp, he looked like he was in command, and he looked like he knew what he was doing. In other words, he looked like an NFL starting quarterback and his performance helped get the Bills started on their way to a 35-20 victory over the Bengals in front of an announced Kids Night crowd of 57,867 at Ralph Wilson Stadium. "I just felt like we got in a good rhythm early on and we stuck with it," said Edwards, who completed 13 of 17 passes for 153 yards and"

This was not exactly a state secret, but because new Bills coach Chan Gailey refused to confirm who the first-string quarterback was, we had to wait until Thursday's inaugural training camp practice to officially find out that Trent Edwards is indeed the guy. "After evaluating all the OTA and mini-camp things, we just felt that Trent deserved to start training camp with the first group," Gailey said after the Bills opened their 11th training camp at St. John Fisher College in front of a small crowd that baked under a bright afternoon sun. "The other two guys (Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brian Brohm) will alternate with the twos during the course of the first few weeks, and then we'll get Levi"

Trent Edwards knows he's not the most popular guy among Bills fans. After all, the fourth-year Buffalo quarterback did attend Stanford, and while his physical skills have certainly come under fire during his time with the Bills, no one has ever questioned his intelligence. "There's obviously doubters out there," Edwards said Tuesday morning on the second day of the Bills' spring practice sessions. Oh yes, there are doubters all right, and almost all of them might pull out whatever hair they have left on their heads if it turns out that Edwards is going to be the Bills' starting quarterback this year. Bills fans grew tired of Edwards during a horrific 2009 season when not only did he fail"

The Perry Fewell Era — probably only seven games worth — is under way today at Ralph Wilson Stadium. The Bills took the field about 11:20 this morning and are going through their first workout with Fewell as the new head coach after he replaced the fired Dick Jauron Tuesday. Not a whole lot looked different, though the one noticeable change is that Ryan Fitzpatrick is taking the primary reps at quarterback instead of Trent Edwards. There was a report Tuesday, before Jauron was fired, that Fitzpatrick was going to supplant Edwards as the starter for Sunday's game in Jacksonville. Fewell later confirmed that would be the case."

Quarterback Trent Edwards was at practice Wednesday, though he only did limited individual reps as he continues to recover from the concussion he suffered against the New York Jets. "I'm good, it's good to be back," Edwards said. "I wasn't here last week and it was kind of lonely at the house, but now I'm feeling better each day and I'm glad to be back." Edwards said his post-concussion headaches have "slowly but surely" started to go away, and that he's not worried. "It's the same as any other injury for me, really," said Edwards, who also suffered a concussion last year at Arizona. "It's an injury and once you get past it there's not any looking back. Any time you look back that's not"
