Tim Tebow News & Rumors

Broncos are better off without Tim Tebow in town
"Nothing against 80-yard touchdown passes or the Bible, but Broncos Country is a better place without Tim Tebow. Peyton Manning has turned Denver back into a real football town. The circus has left town, and the name of its pet dog has been changed from Bronco to Bronx. There is zero guarantee, of course, that Manning at quarterback means Denver will win the Super Bowl. The local NFL franchise, however, is not only dreaming big, but taking bold steps to make the dream come true. Maybe that explains why a media throng nearly five dozen strong came out earlier this week to chronicle Manning do work only slightly more meaningful than mowing the lawn."
Jets quarterback Tim Tebow remains talk of the town
"Mark Sanchez smiled for a split-second when a reporter labeled him as the most scrutinized guy in the New York Jets' locker room. "Nooo," the quarterback said, dripping with sarcasm. Yep, it's true. And it's been that way for more than three years now, long before Tim Tebow was acquired from the Broncos. But the arrival of the world's most popular backup quarterback means even more attention focused not only on what Tebow does, but every throw Sanchez makes — even if it's only the third day of the Jets' organized team activities."
Mark on target as Tebow struggles
"Jets fans might want to get down on one knee this morning — not to "Tebow" but to pray their team does not need to use the backup quarterback. Tim Tebow looked terrible in his first Jets practice that was open to the media. Now, it's only May. It's only organized team activities, where teams are still in shorts. But incumbent Mark Sanchez looked way ahead of Tebow at this early juncture. Tebow looked indecisive and unsure of himself. He threw interceptions on consecutive passes at one point. Sanchez, on the other hand, looked crisp and showed a good command of the new Jets offense."
Jets' Tim Tebow plays on special teams, head coach Rex Ryan gets kick out of toughness
"Tim Tebow, the Jets' all-around reserve, wore the red No. 15 practice jersey of a quarterback and stood seven yards back from the line of scrimmage during a punt drill Thursday afternoon. His eyes up and knees bent, Tebow surveyed the defenders readying to rush toward him. He then shifted as long snapper Tanner Purdum hiked the ball to punter T.J. Conley. Rex Ryan relished the look of Tebow as his new intimidator. "They're going to line up and come after him," Ryan said. "I can tell you one guy that's not afraid: Tim Tebow." Forever associated with the unorthodox, Tebow took to the new task, but acknowledged the positioning as punt protector would require time to master. He could not"
Tim Tebow defends high school student who Tebowed during graduation ceremony
"Tim Tebow's message is simple: Let Chuck Shriner graduate. Tebow acknowledged that he did not fully know the story of Shriner, a senior at Bishop Verot High in Fort Myers, Fla., who was temporarily denied his diploma for Tebowing during his recent graduation ceremony. Once informed, Tebow supported Shriner's decision. "I don't think his diploma should be withheld," he said. "I think it was probably something a lot of people laughed at. I don't know that it was necessarily appropriate, but I definitely think he should be able to graduate.""
Mark Sanchez outplays backup QB Tim Tebow in Jets offseason workout
"The Jets held their third OTA this morning -- the first open to the media -- meaning this was the first look at the Mark Sanchez-Tim Tebow dynamic on the practice field. Tebow took reps as the No. 2 quarterback behind Mark Sanchez, as the team has made clear his role will be. Some of Tebow's passes came out a bit high. He was picked off on back-to-back passes in 7-on-7 drills, by Bart Scott and new Jets safety Yeremiah Bell. Tebow finished 6-for-8 in the nine snaps he took in 11-on-11 team drills, by an unofficial count. Tebow was also used on special teams, as the personal protector on the punt team."
1st look at Tebow with Jets today
"The next step of the "Tebow Takeover" in Jets Nation comes today when the media get to see Tim Tebow on the field for the first time. Tebow and the Jets began organized team activities (OTAs) on Monday, but today's is the first session open to the media. That means a ton of reporters and TV cameras fixed on No. 15. These sessions are glorified practices with players only in helmets, jerseys and shorts, so it is unlikely there will be much to glean from them. But just the sight of Tebow in a green helmet is further proof the polarizing quarterback is actually a Jet and the trade the Jets made two months ago actually did happen."
Tim Tebow subject of E! TV special in July
"You know Tim Tebow has hit the high-water mark in celebrity success when an entertainment network produces a show about him. Sports Illustrated reports that the Jets quarterback will be the subject of a 30-minute special airing on E! Entertainment Television sometime in July. E!'s cameras were part of the throng of more than 200 media members who covered Tebow's introductory news conference in New York on March 26 inside the field house of the Jets' practice facility in New Jersey."
NFL takes steps to shut down "My Jesus" T-shirts
"It previously has been reported that Jets quarterback Tim Tebow has tried, via his legal team, to end the sale of "My Jesus" T-shirts with the two words arranged to resemble the Jets logo. It previously has been explained that it's not a fight Tebow should be waging, since the T-shirts in no way infringe on his name, his likeness, or any intellectual property, copyrights, or trademarks he owns. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the NFL has taken steps to stop the apparent infringement against the Jets logo, via a "cease and desist" letter sent late last week."
Jets' Tebow wants 'MY Jesus' T-shirts to cease: report
"Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow is taking legal action against a company selling T-shirts featuring the words "MY Jesus" in a design similar to the "NY Jets" logo, TMZ reported Wednesday, citing a cease-and-desist letter from his lawyers. In a letter sent last month, lawyers for Tebow demanded that Cubby Tees stop selling the T-shirts — which the company admits were produced to reference Tebow's strong Christian faith — because they give the impression their client endorses the product."
Tim Tebow Raising Hell Over "MY Jesus" Tees
"Tim Tebow is definitely down with Jesus ... but he ain't down with "MY Jesus" t-shirts -- and he's threatening legal action because he says a website is illegally using his name to sell the merchandise. TMZ obtained the cease and desist letter Tebow's attorneys sent to cubbytees.com last month -- in which they claim "The Merchandise makes it appear as if Mr. Tebow actually endorses Cubby Tees and its products." Interestingly, the tee shirts in question do not use Tebow's image or name -- but instead spell out "MY Jesus" using the colors and font of his new team ... the NY Jets. In fact, the website clearly states, "This fun design is not officially endorsed by New York's backup quarterback"
Jets' Revis says Tebow's passion is evident, even during lunch
"New Jets quarterback Tim Tebow has left quite an impression on his teammates in everything he does. Even the way he eats lunch? Cornerback Darrelle Revis said Tebow is a born leader and his passion is obvious. "You see it all the time," Revis said Wednesday. "Eating lunch you see it, walking down the hallway you see it. He's like … I'm trying to think of the cartoon character. He's like Zeus. He's just one of those guys. He's just very positive. He has passion for what he does and you can see it. You can see it when you have a conversation with him. He's just a leader. He wants to win and everything is positive about him.""
Namath: Sanchez better QB for Jets than Tebow
"Jets legend Joe Namath thinks Mark Sanchez has nothing to worry about with Tim Tebow looking over his shoulder. Namath said if he were Sanchez, he'd be "tickled to death." "Mark knows he's a better quarterback, and bring on the competition." Namath said last night at United Way's annual Gridiron Gala at the Waldorf-Astoria. "Mark is sensational. He's going to be much better." Namath said he's a fan of both quarterbacks, but there is no question in his mind that Sanchez is the better of the two."
Tim Tebow continues to impress NY Jets coaches at quarterback position
"Less than two weeks after Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano maintained that Tim Tebow has made "eye-opening" progress over the past couple of seasons, quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh made it clear that he believes the young signalcaller has plenty of upside. Tebow, who admitted that he has only taken reps at quarterback this offseason, has worked closely with Cavanaugh. "I think he can be very good," Cavanaugh told the Daily News. "I was pleasantly surprised when I saw him over an extended period of time . . . not just watching him play on film. I think he's certainly got the arm strength. He has good mechanics. They're getting better every day.""
Gang Green's all here, with sneak peek at Mark Sanchez-Tim Tebow rivalry
"Darrelle Revis unloaded Thursday on Bill Belichick and Tom Brady, which is a lot more productive than the Jets unloading on each other during their December meltdown last season. There is never anything wrong with the Jets ripping the Patriots, and it's always fun when Belichick and Brady are the targets, but the Jets are so psychologically fragile — they get that from their starting quarterback — that it's just a matter of time before they are pointing fingers at each other again."
Tebow only playing QB for Jets so far
"Tim Tebow is solely a quarterback for the moment. Tebow said Thursday he has not worked at any positions other than quarterback so far during the Jets offseason program. There have been reports the Jets plan to use him at tight end or H-back as well as a running back. Tebow said he is open to anything. "I always put team first, and whatever they want me to do, they know I'll do it with all my heart," he said. "So I'm just going out there every day trying to get a little bit better.""
Mike Westhoff reveals plan to use Tim Tebow on NY Jets special teams unit
"The Jets' big-picture vision for Tim Tebow is coming into focus. Tebow, perhaps the most versatile "backup quarterback" in NFL history, will be doing far more than holding a clipboard for Gang Green this coming season. Although new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano kept his plans for Tebow close to the vest last week, it's been speculated that Tebow will be used in Wildcat/read-option packages and possibly line up as an H-back and fullback. Now, it's clear he'll play a role on special teams as well. Special teams coach Mike Westhoff told the Daily News he will use Tebow on his unit. Westhoff has already discussed his vision with Tebow, who was amenable and eager to contribute on special"
Sparano says NY Jets won't have a problem managing both Tim Tebow and Mark Sanchez
"Four months after Tony Sparano walked into a cauldron of discord and dysfunction, the new Jets' offensive coordinator was filled with more hope and optimism than a Tony Robbins weekend seminar. Sparano praised Mark Sanchez and Tim Tebow, refusing to let the potential quarterback controversy deter him from fixing an offense that sputtered for much of last season. He shed little light on Tebow's role in his traditionally conservative scheme, noting that the team's official backup quarterback could play "anywhere from one to 20 snaps." The prevailing thought is that Tebow will see action as a quarterback, full-back and H-back on offense."
New Jets coordinator won't reveal plan for Tebow
"New Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano clammed up Thursday when asked how the team would use Tim Tebow this season. Head coach Rex Ryan said in March the team could use Tebow for up to 20 snaps on offense. Sparano would not expand on the ways the Jets plan to use him. "I won't give you the vision of what I think will be his role in the offense," Sparano said on a conference call with reporters, "but I would just say to the best of my knowledge is I think what [Ryan] said is he can play anywhere from one to 20 snaps, somewhere like that. I would say that what coach said is 100 percent correct. As far as how we'll use Tim or what we'll do with Tim that way we're going to keep that to us"
Rex Ryan raves about Jets QBs
"Five weeks after the trade that rocked the NFL, Rex Ryan finally got his first look at Tim Tebow on the practice field. The New York Jets' coach said Tebow looks "outstanding" in limited drills. "Same thing with Mark (Sanchez)," Ryan said Tuesday night at a charity event, quickly including his starting quarterback in the conversation. "Both those guys are in phenomenal shape." Phase two of the Jets' offseason program began Monday, allowing coaches to be on the field during player workouts, per the rules of the new collective bargaining agreement. Ryan raved about the team's overall conditioning, claiming he expects an improvement in team speed. Ryan laughed when asked what he's seen from"
Jets coach calls Tebow 'excellent backup quarterback'
"Monday was the first chance for Jets coach Rex Ryan to see his new quarterback Tim Tebow on the field. The offseason program entered the next stage when coaches are allowed to work with the players on the field. Ryan said Tebow is in excellent shape. Ryan joked about Tebow's game-winning drive against the Jets last season when he was with the Broncos. "I saw enough of Tebow last year, to be honest with you, especially that last drive," Ryan said Tuesday at a charity event in Eatontown, N.J. " I think with [offensive coordinator Tony Sparano's] background and everything else he's got a great vision for Tim and what we want to do with him. I think it is exciting to have a young guy that has"
Tim Tebow makes NFL Network list of Top 100 players of 2012 while Mark Sanchez left off the list
"Tim Tebow hasn't beaten out Mark Sanchez for the Jets starting quarterback job, but according to his peers, he's the better quarterback. The NFL Network recently released a list of the top 100 players of 2012, as voted on by current NFL players. Tebow, who came to the Jets in an offseason trade after leading the Broncos to a surprising playoff victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, was ranked 95th on the list. Sanchez was not ranked at all. "It truly is an honor for me to be on this list, because there are so many great players in the NFL," Tebow said in an NFL Network interview. "And for just a few of them to respect me enough to put me on this list, it really means a lot.""
Tebow passes Sanchez — on NFL's list
"Tim Tebow might be the No. 2 quarterback on the Jets' depth chart, but he's the only one considered one of the best players in football by his peers. Tebow was ranked 95th on the NFL Network's list of the Top 100 players in the league as voted on by the players. The Jets' starter, Mark Sanchez, is not on the list, however. "It's a huge honor for me and something I'm very thankful for," Tebow told NFL Network. "Because as a player when you put in all the hard work, you want to be respected by your teammates and your competitors and the people you go against every single week and it truly is an honor for me to be on this list. There are so many great players in the NFL for just a few of them"
Jets WR says Tebow throws 'a lot' harder than Sanchez: report
"The Mark Sanchez-Tim Tebow comparisons continued Tuesday night, but this one came from a Jets receiver who recently caught passes from the team's quarterbacks. Second-year receiver Jeremy Kerley did notice a contrast in one area. "Different than Mark, different than Mark," Kerley told NJ.com about Tebow, who was often criticized for his accuracy with the Broncos last year. "(Tebow's) ball comes out a little bit stronger, but he's accurate, he's more accurate than what I thought he was going to be. But he's a good dude, he has a great personality, he'll bring a lot of personality to the team." Kerley was asked how significant the difference in speed was. "A lot, a lot more velocity," Kerley"
Tim Tebow's arrival won't change NY Jets plans for NFL draft
"There's little doubt that the Jets will deploy Tim Tebow in myriad ways: quarterback, running back, fullback, H-back and special teams wild card. However, the Tebow Effect will also spill into the draft next week. Although GM Mike Tannenbaum admitted Tebow's ability to play several roles is a plus, he maintained that the talented third-year player's versatility would only be a "subtle tie-breaker" when deciding which positions to draft. "Obviously, he has some versatility for us," Tannenbaum said at a pre-draft press conference on Thursday. "He's our backup quarterback. That's how we're listing him. That's how we're going to carry him on our roster... He has unique skill sets and"
Tebow's versatility could be 'tiebreaker' for Jets in Draft
"Since the Jets acquired Tim Tebow nearly a month ago, the quarterback has cast a large shadow over everything around the organization. Why should next week's NFL Draft be any different? Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum acknowledged Thursday that even though he considers Tebow a backup quarterback, Tebow's other abilities could be a factor in draft day decisions. "Obviously, he has some versatility for us," Tannenbaum said at a pre-draft press conference. "He is our backup quarterback. That's how we're listing him. That's how we're going to carry him on our roster. That could be more like, I'd say, a subtle tiebreaker, knowing he has unique skill sets and athleticism. In terms of how"
Mark Sanchez says he's 'thrilled to work with' Tim Tebow
"New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez did his best Thursday night to turn the Great New York Quarterback Controversy into a love fest, according to the New York Post. Appearing in White Plains, N.Y., where he signed autographs and did a Q&A for fans, Sanchez spoke warmly of the time he's spent with Tim Tebow the past few days since the Jets began their offseason workouts. "From a competitor standpoint, he's great," Sanchez said. "He's what you want in an offseason program — working hard, competing with the guy in the weight room. This is a big, strong guy, so it's good for me. That's been one of my goals this offseason — putting on a little more muscle mass. I've taken a beating during"
Report: Jets plan to use Tebow in backfield
"Tim Tebow will be playing more than quarterback for the Jets, according to a report. ESPN reported Tebow will also be used as an H-back, running back and a fullback on offense in addition to being the Wildcat quarterback, citing unnamed sources. This would be a change for Tebow, who said several times while with the Broncos that he was a quarterback and did not want to play another position. Yesterday was Tebow's first time to work out with his new teammates as the team's offseason program began. He did not get to do much because the first two weeks of the program consist of mainly weight training. Only the strength coaches are permitted to work with players on the field."
Tebow experiment begins for Jets
"It is a mere baby step in a journey that will go a long way toward shaping the success or failure of the 2012 Jets, but today marks the start of the Tebow Experiment. The Jets don't play a real game for another five months, but as their strength and conditioning program begins today, so begins their season, because it will be the first time they will convene since Tim Tebow was acquired in that controversial trade last month. When we last saw the Jets on the field, petulant receiver Santonio Holmes was sulking on the sideline in Miami in the season finale after being kicked out of his team's huddle by his own teammates for repeated acts of selfishness."
Fresh off charity golf tourney, Tebow is ready for Jets workouts
"Security guards at the Jets' practice facility had better get their beauty sleep tonight, because Tim Tebow plans on beating them there tomorrow morning. Fresh off hosting his annual charity golf tournament yesterday at the famed TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course, Tebow told The Post he can't wait for the start of Gang Green's offseason program. "I'm going to be there early — as in 'crack-ofdawn' early," the Jets' lightning-rod offseason acquisition said. "This is what I've been waiting for since the trade happened, and I want to make a good impression.""
Couple bids $100K for Tebow day
"There are a lot of fans who would give anything just to spend a couple of minutes with Tim Tebow. One couple is willing to spend $100,000 to spend a day with the New York Jets quarterback. That amount was the winning bid in a live auction during Friday night's gala event that kicked off the Tim Tebow Celebrity Golf Classic, which is a fundraising event for the Tim Tebow Foundation. The husband and wife, whom the foundation declined to identify, plan to share their day with Tebow with underprivileged children near their home in the Florida Keys. "It was very humbling, and you don't necessarily feel worthy," Tebow said Saturday after the golf tournament's conclusion at TPC Sawgrass. "That"
Broncos receiver not sure Tebow trade good for Jets
"Not every one of Tim Tebow's former teammates have glowing praise for the Jets backup quarterback. Demaryius Thomas caught the famous overtime pass in the Broncos wild-card win over the Steelers, but sounded less than excited about how the rest of the season went. "It's a business decision. I ain't going to say I was sad because the only thing they remember is that pass," Thomas said in an interview with 790 The Zone in Atlanta about the trade that sent Tebow from the Broncos to the Jets. "You gotta go back and look at the rest of the games. I wasn't getting no balls and you had to make some of these plays where some players were open and he is not making the throws, but I don't want to"
Woody Johnson says NY Jets didn't trade for Tim Tebow to sell jerseys
"Despite the marketing buzz that Tim Tebow's arrival has created for the Jets, owner Woody Johnson maintained on Tuesday that his team didn't trade for the lefthanded quarterback last month to sell more jerseys or spark Personal Seat License sales at MetLife Stadium. Tebow's No. 15 Jets jersey, of course, is the hottest-selling item in the NFL in the past few weeks. "Not really," Johnson said in an interview on Fox Business Network on Tuesday. "Jerseys aren't really our main line of business. Our main line of business is winning games. I expect if we do well, we will continue to sell. We're pretty well sold out on PSLs despite what you read about." Johnson hasn't ruled out the possibility"
St. Tim's sermon
"A swaying, singing crowd of 15,000 people clutching Bibles and footballs climbed a hill yesterday to hear "God's quarterback'' address an event that was half religious revival and half tailgate party. Tim Tebow, the Jets' hoped-for savior, was in Georgetown for the Easter service of the Celebration megachurch, where, at his request, he joined Pastor Joe Champion for a talk-show-style chat about the Lord. "The number-one thing for me is knowing that everything we have is a gift from God,'' he told the adoring crowd. "The talents that God has given us, make the most of it.''"
Jets quarterback Tim Tebow delivers Easter sermon at Texas megachurch near Austin
"Jets new backup quarterback Tim Tebow wowed thousands of worshipers at Texas Easter Day service and he didn't need a fourth-quarter comeback to do it. The 24-year-old Christian drew cheers from the crowd by putting God over his gridiron heroics and admonishing less devout athletes for shunning their duty as role models. "It's okay to be outspoken about your faith," Tebow said at the outdoor event called the "Easter on the Hill" service on the Celebration Church campus in the Austin suburb of Georgetown. Some of those who flocked to hear the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner came wearing Tebow's Jets jersey. In New York, even Cardinal Timothy Dolan marveled at Tebow's ability to draw a crowd."
Tebow to deliver Easter sermon at Texas church
"New Jets quarterback Tim Tebow is really elevating his game. The wildly popular and outspoken Christian QB will deliver an Easter sermon at a Texas church Sunday, a spectacle expected to draw 30,000 people. Tebow, perhaps as much known for his public demonstrations of faith as his game-changing scrambles from the pocket, will give the 10 a.m. address at Celebration Church in Georgetown, Texas, local TV station KVUE reported. "Obviously it's our Super Bowl," said Joe Champion, pastor at the Celebration Church. "Easter is the resurrection of Christ, which we celebrate in our faith. We feel like it's going to be a testimony to the community. We want it to be a family event.""
Tebow will make Jets debut in Cincy
"Tebowmania is scheduled to make its Jets debut off Broadway — way off Broadway. The Jets open the preseason in Cincinnati against the Bengals on either Aug. 10 or 11. That should be the first game for Tim Tebow as a Jet, barring injury. Tebow's debut highlights the preseason schedules of the Jets and Giants, released yesterday. The two local teams face each other in Week 2 (Aug. 16-20) of the preseason, a week earlier than usual. The exact date has not been determined. It is a Jets home game this year. The Super Bowl champion Giants will experience a cozy preseason this summer, because three of their four games will be played at MetLife Stadium. Factor in the Sept. 5 regular-season opener"
Champ Bailey: Tim Tebow will challenge Mark Sanchez for starting position
"Champ Bailey had an up-close-and-personal view of Tim Tebow in Denver, watching the young QB rise from curiosity to starter. And this year, Denver's All-Pro corner expects to watch something else from afar. Jets brass may claim that Mark Sanchez is the starter and Tebow the Wildcat complement, but Bailey says Sanchez's job is hardly that secure. Bailey wouldn't be surprised if there's a Gang Green quarterback battle in 2012. "(Tebow) is gonna challenge him, absolutely," Bailey said on Tuesday, at the NFL's new Nike uniforms launch in Brooklyn. "Sanchez can't be too comfortable in his seat.""
Roethlisberger: Tebow trade will be 'tough' for Jets' Sanchez
"Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said he doesn't think it will take long for Jets fans to start chanting Tim Tebow's name. "First preseason game," Roethlisberger said. And the two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback said that is going to be hard on current Jets starter Mark Sanchez, no matter what Sanchez says. "I feel bad for him," Roethlisberger told The Post Tuesday at the unveiling of the new Nike NFL uniforms in Brooklyn. "It's going to be tough." Roethlisberger said that a bunch of the players gathered for yesterday's event were discussing the Jets' trade for Tebow and how difficult it will be for Sanchez."
Bailey: Tebow's arrival will warm Sanchez's seat
"Champ Bailey sees the writing on the wall now that former teammate Tim Tebow is with the New York Jets. He just wonders if Mark Sanchez can see it, too. "Oh, he's going to challenge him, absolutely," Bailey said at the Nike uniform launch in Brooklyn on Tuesday, according to ESPN.com. "Sanchez can't feel too comfortable in his seat. If he keeps playing well, he doesn't have to worry about it. But if he doesn't play well, we all know what's going to happen next." Bailey, an 11-time Pro Bowl cornerback, was in the eye of the Tebowmania storm for two seasons in Denver. Though Tebow is expected to be the Jets' No. 2 quarterback and Wildcat specialist, Bailey has a feeling Sanchez's days as a"
Toomer: Tebow will eventually start
"Former Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer likes what he has seen from Tim Tebow and thinks Jets fans are going to see more from the quarterback than the team is saying right now. "I don't see [Mark] Sanchez being the starter the entire year," Toomer said yesterday at NFL Shop at Draft in Manhattan. Toomer said he was impressed with what he saw from Tebow last year with the Broncos, and thinks Tebow has a better chance at being effective than Sanchez. "[Sanchez is] not a great quarterback," Toomer said. "I don't think I'm at a stretch saying that.""
Tebow doesn't silence his critics, he handles them
"Donovan McNabb got the answer half-right. When ESPN's Skip Bayless asserted on Friday that Tim Tebow is the most unfairly criticized quarterback in the history of the NFL, McNabb replied: "Negative, I am." It might be a tie. Together, though, they absolutely represent the ultimate in shoulder-padded Rorschach tests. The two of them have been defined far more by what outsiders see in them than by what they've done or said."
Jets reportedly don't want Tebow doing weekly radio spot
"The New York Jets ushered in the Tim Tebow era to great fanfare, effectively rolling out the red carpet for their backup quarterback with a news conference specifically for his introduction to the Big Apple. Now that that's out of the way, however, the Jets reportedly are doing their best to limit the degree to which Tebowmania will overtake Manhattan."
Ryan explains why he is just wild about Tebow
"The Jets' decision to trade for Tim Tebow may have appeared to be a rash, shoot-from-the-hip decision by coach Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannenbaum. But from listening to Ryan last week at the NFL meetings in Palm Beach, Fla., it was clear that this was a calculated football decision. Ryan has a clear plan on the field for Tebow and realizes the potential for problems off it - specifically, fan reaction if starter Mark Sanchez struggles. Last week, Ryan had all the right answers, and you could see how, in his mind, this move will improve the Jets. But it's another thing to actually make it work. Let's start with how Tebow will improve the Jets. Ryan remains a firm believer that the"
Trademark war is so Timsane!
"Three die-hard Giants fans have contracted a sudden case of Timsanity. The Big Blue crew — a Manhattan man and a pair of Brooklyn-bred brothers — are competing for the trademark to "Timsanity," a phrase they hope to splash on athletic gear to capitalize on the mania surrounding new Jets QB Tim Tebow. "For me, it's just business," said Frank DeGrim, 29, an East Village resident who is a manager at a hedge fund. "When I heard he was coming to New York, I realized there's an opportunity here," he told The Post. DeGrim filed his application with the US Patent and Trademark Office on March 21 — a day before Daniel and Christian Perez, a Bensonhurst-born duo."
Tebow hedges on desire to start for Jets
"While everyone is trying to figure out if or when Tim Tebow will become the Jets' starting quarterback, Tebow claimed Friday he is not worried about it. Appearing on 1050 ESPN Radio, Tebow dodged questions about whether he wants to start. When asked if he thinks he'll ever be a starting quarterback again, Tebow expressed uncertainty. "I'm not sure," he said. "I don't know what the future holds, but I know who holds my future. That is something that has always given me peace and comfort. That's why I don't have to worry about the future. I can just worry about today and worry about becoming better as a football player and a person." Tebow has been very careful to say all the right things"
D'Brick: Jets can deal with Tebow circus
"D'Brickashaw Ferguson was working out in the Jets' weight room Monday when Tim Tebow walked in and introduced himself. Tebow then went on to the biggest press conference ever for a backup quarterback. For Ferguson, it was a glimpse of what is to come with Tebow on the Jets. The Jets left tackle knows the circus is coming to town. "That's definitely going to be an aspect of it," Ferguson said yesterday at the temporarily set-up NFL Shop at Draft store in Manhattan. "There will be a little bit of a circus come training camp and our media periods. I think that's one of the things that's part of this process when you make a trade like that. Hopefully, we can stay focused and focus on the"
Revis says NY Jets' circus of a locker room will only get crazier with Tebow
"To hear Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis tell it, his team is now a bearded woman short of a full circus lineup now that superstar backup quarterback Tim Tebow is in the fold. "It was a circus (last season with the Jets), and it's going to be more of a circus with him in the locker room," Revis said Wednesday morning during an appearance on ESPN's SportsCenter. "I'm not questioning his ability to play the game. He can flat-out play the game. But it is just going to bring more to the locker room of every day, 'Does Mark need to start? Does Tim need to start?' It is going to be an ongoing thing throughout the season.""
Nike Sues Reebok: WE Own Tim Tebow ... NOT YOU
"Tim Tebow's not a second-string priority to Nike -- because the athletic company is now suing Reebok, claiming Nike has exclusive rights to use Tebow's name on merchandise ... and Reebok's stepping all over its business. Nike filed a lawsuit against Reebok this week -- just one day after the Jets officially announced the Tebow trade -- and according to the suit, Reebok's new Jets merch bearing Tebow's name are in violation of a 2010 Nike-Tebow endorsement deal. According to the deal, Nike's got sole merchandising rights to all things Tebow."
