Tashard Choice News & Rumors

Bills' Coach Chan Gailey reunites with RB Tashard Choice
"Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey found someone very familiar to him to add to the team's running back roster. The Bills claimed Tashard Choice off waivers from the Washington Redskins Wednesday. Choice fills the roster spot created when Fred Jackson was placed on the injured reserve list. Choice, 5-foot-11 and 210 pounds, starred for Gailey at Georgia Tech from 2005 to 2007, Gailey's final three years at that university."
Evan Royster added to roster; Tashard Choice waived
"The Washington Redskins announced that they have promoted rookie running back Evan Royster to the 53-man roster and have released Tashard Choice three weeks after they claimed him off waivers. The team also has re-signed running back Tristan Davis to the practice squad. Washington drafted Royster, a former Westfield High School standout, in the sixth round out of Penn State. The 6-foot-1, 213-pound back concluded his college career as Penn State's career leading rusher with 3,932 yards and 29 touchdowns on 686 carries."
Why the Cowboys are 'mindful' of Redskins RB Tashard Choice
"The Redskins won't have to look far if they want inside information about the Cowboys. They just have to ask reserve running back Tashard Choice. The Redskins claimed Choice off waivers Oct. 31, two days after the Cowboys released the four-year veteran. Since then, Choice has yet to play a down for Washington. But this week, he could prove valuable if the Redskins ask Choice to deliver a detailed scouting report about his former team. "You always have to be mindful of that," Garrett said. "But we like to think we do a good job of disguising our calls.""
Mike Shanahan uncertain on Tashard Choice's debut or role
"Running back Tashard Choice said there is a "100 percent chance" that he will make his Washington Redskins debut Sunday when his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, come to town Sunday. But coach Mike Shanahan sounded less certain about the fourth-year pro's status. The Cowboys waived Choice Oct. 29, and the Redskins claimed him, despite a hamstring injury that was still healing. Choice was cleared to practice last week, but was inactive for the game at Miami."
Former Dallas RB Tashard Choice: 'I'm playing this week' against Cowboys
"A hamstring injury has prevented Tashard Choice from carrying a football in a game since the Cowboys' 34-7 victory over the St. Louis Rams in Week 7. According to Choice, he'll be back on Sunday -- just in time to face his old team. "I'm playing this week," Choice told The Washington Post on Monday. Choice, who was selected by the Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2008 draft, signed with Washington on Oct. 31 after Dallas released him. In his final game with the Cowboys, the 26-year-old carried twice for eight yards before injuring his shoulder."
Hamstring still bothering Tashard Choice
"Washington's newest running back, Tashard Choice, says his sore hamstring likely will keep him from playing Sunday against San Francisco, but he hopes to make his Redskins debut Nov. 13 at Miami. The Redskins claimed Choice off waivers Monday. He was waived by the Dallas Cowboys two days earlier. The chance to play for a division rival, he says, is a blessing in disguise."
Redskins claim RB Tashard Choice off waivers
"The Washington Redskins have waived rookie cornerback Brandyn Thompson to make room on the 53-man roster for newly claimed running back Tashard Choice, according to a person familiar with the move. Thompson, whom Washington drafted in the seventh round out of Boise State, was promoted from the practice squad last Friday as an insurance policy for Sunday's game because defensive backs DeAngelo Hall and Phillip Buchanon were both banged up. But Thompson didn't play in the 23-0 loss to the Buffalo Bills."
Cowboys RB Tashard Choice tweets, "the best is yet to come'' after his release
"Tashard Choice stood in the Cowboys locker room Monday and declared there would be better days ahead. It turns out those days will be with another team. The Cowboys released the fourth-year running back Saturday before boarding the flight to Philadelphia. The move cleared the way for second-round pick Bruce Carter, a linebacker from North Carolina, to be added to the 53-man roster and means the Cowboys will enter this NFC East showdown with rookies DeMarco Murray and Phillip Tanner carrying the load at running back. Carter (knee) is being activated from the reserve non-football injury list. Choice had this to say on his Twitter account: "I just want to say thanks to all the great dallas"
Release leaves Cowboys no Choice
"The Dallas Cowboys have parted ways with Tashard Choice, releasing the veteran running back Saturday. Dallas needed the roster spot to activate linebacker Bruce Carter from the non-football injury list. Carter, a second-round draft pick who had been rehabbing a knee injury, will make his NFL debut tonight against the Eagles. Choice became the odd man out despite the Cowboys having only two healthy running backs for tonight's game. Felix Jones will miss his second consecutive game with a high left ankle sprain, leaving rookies DeMarco Murray and Phillip Tanner to carry the load against the Eagles."
Source: Cowboys cut Tashard Choice
"The Dallas Cowboys waived injured running back Tashard Choice on Saturday morning, according to a source. If Choice clears waivers, the team will then reach an injury settlement with him. The move was made to clear a roster spot for rookie linebacker Bruce Carter, who is expected to make his pro debut Sunday night at Philadelphia. Choice suffered a shoulder injury in the third quarter against the St. Louis Rams last week and was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday before tightness in his hamstring kept him out of Friday's workout altogether. He underwent an MRI exam for the hamstring injury Friday."
Cowboys' Tashard Choice 'livid' about losing a fumble
"Tashard Choice wants to be a bigger part of the offense. And he's always been supportive of his teammates. This leaves the Cowboys running back in a difficult emotional position. While he celebrates DeMarco Murray's success, Choice is down on himself for his performance. "Awesome," Choice said of Murray's 253-yard afternoon against St. Louis. "He did good. The offensive line did a great job. He made some big plays and ran the ball really well. ... "But I'm mad at myself when I mess up. When I fumble, I let my team down. "I am livid.""
Right shoulder injury won't keep Cowboys RB Tashard Choice out of Sunday's game
"In the moments that followed Tashard Choice's fumble in the third quarter of the Dallas' 34-7 victory over St. Louis, the Cowboys' fourth-year running back remained rooted to the turf where he fell. Choice appeared hurt and it turns out he was. Choice suffered a subuxation, or a partial dislocation, of his right shoulder in which the joint pops out before popping back in place. Choice, who incurred a similar injury in college and played through it, said he should be able to take the field Sunday at Philadelphia. But it's not certain if the Cowboys would use Choice if he's healthy enough to play. Team owner Jerry Jones, who regularly seeks updates about injuries, said Sunday he didn't"
Tashard Choice could be available
"As the trade deadline approaches on Tuesday, we've thrown out an extra-wide net in the hopes of catching any and all possible rumors regarding guys who may be available. One guy who may be available is Cowboys running back Tashard Choice. Choice, currently the No. 2 tailback behind Felix Jones, has only 21 carries for 53 yards in four 2011 games. He's in the final year of his contract, making him an unrestricted free agent in 2012."
Cowboys leave Choice back in Dallas
"Cowboys running back Tashard Choice and four other veterans didn't make the trip to South Florida for the club's preseason finale against the Dolphins at 6:30 tonight at Sun Life Stadium. Choice was left at home because of a minor knee injury, according to the team's website. Cornerback Terence Newman (groin), linebacker Bradie James (foot), wide receiver Miles Austin (hamstring) and right guard Kyle Kosier (back) also remained in Dallas. With Choice out and coach Jason Garrett expected to keep most of the starters on the sideline, it appears that rookie DeMarco Murray and on-the-bubble players Phillip Tanner and Lonyae Miller will get the bulk of the carries. Choice made his preseason"

Tashard Choice, Terence Newman among 5 Cowboys not in Miami for game
"Cowboys running back Tashard Choice was one of five veteran players who didn't travel with the team to Miami on Wednesday and won't play in the final preseason game Thursday night. Choice, who has a minor knee injury, didn't make the trip along with four injured starters: cornerback Terence Newman (groin), linebacker Bradie James (foot), wide receiver Miles Austin (hamstring) and right guard Kyle Kosier (back)."
Miller could earn Choice spot at running back
"The yin and yang of training camp is usually that a surprise player's emergence means the end of a dream for someone else. That scenario appears to be playing out at the Dallas Cowboys tailback position, where former practice squad player and undrafted free agent Lonyae Miller has become a strong candidate to the make the team's roster. With the Cowboys likely keeping only three tailbacks -- starter Felix Jones and third-round pick DeMarco Murray are locks -- that could make Tashard Choice the odd man out. Choice has been sidelined since the opening day with a strained calf, giving Miller the opportunity to get more reps. So far he has made the most it, drawing raves from the coaches since"
Tashard Choice: If there's a lockout it's because owners are being 'greedy'
"With the NFL players likely being locked out tonight, many are sure to vent their frustrations. One Dallas Cowboy has already started. Running back Tashard Choice tweeted Thursday morning: "Pretty much if the owners don't want to be greedy we will have football. Its a shame of the stunts they are trying to pull." Surely the owners have a different opinion of the circumstances, however, they most likely will not be airing them on Twitter."
Tashard Choice shows knack for avoiding negative plays
"Running back Tashard Choice again displayed his ability to get something out of nothing during the win against Washington. Choice lost yardage on only one of his 15 runs. For the season, Choice has no gain or a loss on seven of 55 runs. Felix Jones has no gain or a loss on 27 of 158 runs. Marion Barber has no gain or a loss on 24 of 102 runs. "It's vision and feel," Garrett said of Choice's knack for finding something in what appear to be doomed plays. "He gets big; he gets small. He finds creases and soft spots. He does a nice job.""
Tashard Choice's big game better keep Marion Barber on the bench
"When Jerry Jones gave Jason Garrett the job, the new coach said the best players would play regardless of salary or draft pedigree. It's time for him to prove it. Right now, Tashard Choice is a better running back than Marion Barber, the starter for much of the season. It's time for that foolishness to stop. Now. You don't have to be an NFL coach, scout or personnel director to see Choice has more speed, elusiveness and agility than Barber. He showed all of that – and more – on a scintillating 20-yard touchdown in the first quarter of the Cowboys' 38-35 overtime win over Indianapolis on Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium. The only reason Choice had an opportunity to gain 100 yards on 19 carries,"
Cowboys mull change at running back
"A change at running back could be one of the top storylines for the San Antonio portion of the Dallas Cowboys' training camp. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told reporters at the NFL owners meetings in Orlando, Fla., that the club has thought about starting Felix Jones rather than Marion Barber. "That has been a consideration, and it certainly is a consideration," DallasCowboys.com quoted Jerry Jones as saying late Tuesday. "Based on a preliminary input from our coaches, you could certainly see Felix in there earlier." It's easy to see why a change is being considered. A first-round pick by the Cowboys in 2008, Jones rushed last season for a career-high 685 yards on 116 carries, an average of"
Cowboys' Choice: 'I just know I can play'
"Tashard Choice said Sunday he would welcome a trade from the Dallas Cowboys if it meant a chance to show he can be a No. 1 running back. "I love being in Dallas, but I just know I should be playing more," Choice said during an appearance at the Dallas Cowboys Grilling Products FanFest at the San Antonio Events Center. "When we lose and I don't get much of a chance, I'm sick." Choice, who has been mentioned in trade rumors involving San Diego Chargers cornerback Antonio Cromartie, was the least-used component of a three-pronged running attack last season that included Marion Barber and Felix Jones. Barber paced the Cowboys with 932 yards on 214 carries. Jones finished with 685 yards on 116"
Tashard Choice doesn't want to leave Cowboys
"Tashard Choice doesn't live in a cave. He heard the trade rumor that involved him going to San Diego for cornerback Antonio Cromartie even if there doesn't seem to be anything to it. "I thought [San Diego] was where I was going when I came out," Choice said. "You never know, man. I want to be in Dallas. It's a great place. I really want to be here. Of course I want to run the ball more and contribute but it's a tough situation. All those guys can play. I love those two boys to death." Choice is referring to Marion Barber and Felix Jones. Barber led the Cowboys with 932 yards on 214 carries. Jones had 685 yards on 116 carries. Choice was the third-man in and had 64 carries for 349 yards. At"
Dallas Cowboys RB Tashard Choice might not return
"Tashard Choice has two years left on his contract, but that doesn't guarantee he'll remain with the Cowboys. He's the odd man out in the team's three-pronged running attack. Marion Barber and Felix Choice get the majority of carries. "The situation is cool," Choice said. "But my situation is the one that's different from everybody else's. I want to be back. I think I should, but you never know. … We have three guys who can absolutely play. Hey, sometimes, it's a business, man." Used primarily as a third-down back and in the "Razorback" formation, Choice has mixed feelings about his role."
Cowboys end 13-year playoff drought, beat rival Eagles
"For all those skeptics who thought their sizzling regular-season finish was merely an aberration, the Dallas Cowboys proved that a new day has indeed dawned in roasting the overwhelmed Philadelphia Eagles 34-14 on Saturday night to end a franchise-worst 13-year drought without a postseason win. In the first playoff game at their $1.2 billion stadium, the Cowboys dominated in all three phases and never trailed, leading 27-7 at halftime and 34-7 after three quarters. Tony Romo threw a pair of touchdown passes, Felix Jones ripped off a dazzling franchise-playoff record 73-yard TD run and coach Wade Phillips' rugged defense forced four turnovers and recorded four sacks as Dallas delighted a"
