Rodney Stuckey News & Rumors

Pistons' Rodney Stuckey to spend most of summer working out at the Palace
"Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey told Pistons.com he plans to be around the team's practice facility quite a bit this summer. Aside from a July trip to Sweden with Jonas Jerebko as his tour guide and a Memorial Day visit home to Seattle, Stuckey plans to be in Auburn Hills working on his game. "Later in the summer, I'm going to try to get the guys back out to work out here for at least a month," Stuckey told Pistons.com. "We'll have our draft picks here as well, hopefully. Just try to change the atmosphere around in here. The chemistry is there, but just getting in work together will be good for us.""
Chicago 100, Detroit Pistons 94 (OT): Missed foul shots sting Rodney Stuckey in OT defeat
"Since the Isiah Thomas vs. Michael Jordan days, the Pistons and Bulls have struggled to be good at the same time. Jordan continued his dominance after Thomas and the Bad Boys disbanded. Then the Pistons seized control during the Rip Hamilton, Chauncey Billups, Tayshaun Prince, Ben Wallace era; and don't forget that Jerry Stackhouse still holds the United Center record with 57 points on April 3, 2001. Now it's the Bulls' turn to rule with reigning MVP Derrick Rose and Co. deep and talented."
Stuckey finds joy on, off court
"Most already had boarded the team bus destined for the Ritz-Carlton, but Rodney Stuckey was a straggler Wednesday afternoon. The Pistons had just concluded practicing at the Orlando Sports Center, and Stuckey stayed behind momentarily to receive treatment from strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander for the many injuries that have beset him recently. During these moments, onlookers usually take the opportunity to rub shoulders with genuine NBA players -- and this day was no different as a teen approached Stuckey. He asked "Mr. Knight" to take a picture. Stuckey, realizing the teen was referring to rookie point guard Brandon Knight, told him "wrong guy." The teen started to look"
Rodney Stuckey usually helps Pistons thrive
"There are two Pistons teams. There is the one when Rodney Stuckey is on, and there is the one when he is off. There is the Pistons team when Stuckey is in the lineup, and there is the Pistons team when he sits the bench with an injury. The Pistons got the bad Stuckey on Friday night and dropped a 113-97 decision to the Milwaukee Bucks at The Palace. The Pistons' plan each night is to attack the basket. No one does it better on the team than Stuckey. The Pistons are not great with or without him but the numbers still are significant. They are 20-29 with Stuckey in the lineup, and 2-8 without him — and one of the wins in which he didn't play was against Charlotte (7-50), which is doing"

Pistons Ben Gordon, Rodney Stuckey miss game against Bobcats
"Pistons guards Ben Gordon (sore groin) and Rodney Stuckey (sore left hamstring) missed Saturday's game against the woeful Charlotte Bobcats. The injuries have given small forward Austin Daye a chance to play shooting guard for the Pistons. "I'm not smart enough to have theories, but I would imagine the amount of games in a short amount of time, the cumulative effect of it. ... There's a reason why the NBA doesn't play 66 games in 120 days or whatever the number is," said coach Lawrence Frank. "That's definitely had an impact, the fact that guys didn't know when the season was going to start, so from a training standpoint of getting their bodies in the right state to begin the season, I"
Detroit Pistons 87, Cleveland 75: Rodney Stuckey suffers injury in victory
"ayshaun Prince had 29 points and eight rebounds as the Pistons beat the Cavaliers, 87-75, tonight in Cleveland. Prince was 11-for-21 from the field and made all four of his three-point shots. "He looked like he did five or six years ago," Cavs coach Byron Scott said of Prince. "He really won the game for them." Brandon Knight had 16 points and five assists and Jason Maxiell had 12 points and nine rebounds. Greg Monroe scored eight and pulled down 10 rebounds."
Feeling good, Rodney Stuckey returns for Pistons
"Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey went through Monday's morning shoot-around and declared himself ready to play against the Wizards on Monday. Stuckey, who admittedly hates missing games because of injuries, said electronic stimulation and treatment he has been receiving have eliminated the swelling, which was the most difficult part of the injury. When he played against the Clippers on March 18, Stuckey was laboring, unable to plant his feet. He missed the last three games with a sore left big toe and had to watch the Pistons muddle through the last two games offensively."
Rodney Stuckey returns, hits winning basket in Pistons comeback over Wizards
"Welcome back, Rodney Stuckey. With 5.8 seconds left, Stuckey drove right on Jordan Crawford and unleashed a 17-footer, backpedaling before the ball reached the net, ending the Pistons' five-game losing streak and showing exactly what he brings when he's right. Led by 24 points from Stuckey — who had missed the previous three games because of a sore left big toe — the Pistons overcame a terrible first half to defeated the Washington Wizards, 79-77 Monday at the Verizon Center. Stuckey's jumper wasn't a buzzer beater; there was still 0.2 seconds remaining but not enough time for the Wizards to get off a shot."
Rodney Stuckey out (toe), but MRI is negative
"Pistons point guard Rodney Stuckey missed Friday night's 88-73 loss to Miami with a sore big left toe, but he could return during an upcoming four-game trip. Stuckey did not play Wednesday against Denver, and he took Thursday off, when he had an MRI that revealed no structural damage. "He's going to be OK," coach Lawrence Frank said. "The MRI was basically what we expected, so he'll be day to day." Without Stuckey, the Pistons are missing a versatile player on offense and defense. "Rodney's an outstanding attacker in transition," Frank said. "His ability to go coast to coast and his ability to get us into the bonus early in the game. Defensively, strong -- his ability to guard multiple"
Pistons' Rodney Stuckey sits vs. Nuggets; 'I'll get right,' he says
"Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey didn't play in Wednesday's 116-115 loss against the Nuggets, an expected move given his inability to practice in recent days. "I hate not playing," Stuckey said. "I know I have to sit out, but I'll get right." Stuckey received electric stimulation on his sore left big toe as he sat in the Pepsi Center, but said he doesn't know his status going forward with back-to-back games against Miami and New York on Friday and Saturday. The injury comes at a poor time for Stuckey, who's been hot."
Pistons' Rodney Stuckey nurses injury to big toe
"What seemed to be a precautionary measure now has become a regular occurrence: Rodney Stuckey sitting out practice, nursing a sore left big toe. Pistons strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander said it's nothing scientific about Stuckey's injury, and he'll be a game-time decision today against the Nuggets in Denver. "Whatever he says, he's a genius," Stuckey said, referring to Kander. Stuckey clearly was slowed by the injury, which he originally suffered in Sacramento. He iced it after the game but didn't think it was serious."
Toe injury forces Pistons' Rodney Stuckey to sit in OT; he says he'll be OK
"With 4:21 left in a tie game in overtime against the Clippers, Pistons combo guard Rodney Stuckey realized he just couldn't go anymore. Stuckey was unable to beat the Clippers' Nick Young to an errant pass from Brandon Knight, and when Young was fouled by Knight going to the basket, Stuckey walked slowly to the Pistons' bench and slumped down in a chair. He labored all game with a sore left big toe. He had a good seat to watch his team drop an 87-83 decision to the Clippers, and it was obvious that the Pistons missed him at both ends of the floor."
Pistons' Rodney Stuckey slowed by injury to big toe
"Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey, with his left foot soaked in what looked like a mop bucket filled with ice, couldn't hide the pain anymore. After 35 minutes of gutting it out against the cutthroat Chris Paul and the Clippers, the pain was too much to bear and he pulled himself out, realizing he couldn't help the Pistons in their 87-83 overtime loss Sunday night. "I thought it would be fine but the more pressure I put on it, the more it hurts," Stuckey said. "So I just gotta ice it and get it better." The Pistons don't play until Wednesday and coach Lawrence Frank is giving the players today off, so Stuckey will have time to rest his sore left big toe and receive treatment from trainer Arnie"
Pistons 124, Kings 112: High-scoring night for Rodney Stuckey, Greg Monroe
"Pistons coach Lawrence Frank expected a riled up opponent in the Sacramento Kings on Monday night. Sacramento had endured a 26-point home loss to the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday and sought revenge after the Pistons' close victory at the Palace nearly a month ago. Sure enough, they were energetic from the opening tip through the second quarter, when they rolled to a 16-point lead. But these are the Kings, whose defense is among the worst in the league. And that defense was in a giving mood. The main beneficiary was Rodney Stuckey."
Rodney Stuckey scores 35, Greg Monroe 32 in Pistons' win over Kings
"The Sacramento Kings felt like they gave away their last game against the Pistons, a high-scoring overtime affair. This time around, the Pistons took it from them, winning 124-112 at Power Balance Pavilion for their fourth road win of the season, overcoming a 16-point deficit. Rodney Stuckey had another stellar outing, with 35 points (one away from his season high), six assists and five rebounds in the Pistons' 12th win in the last 19 games. Tyreke Evans led the Kings (14-29) with 23 points. Stuckey, who's averaging 25.8 points, 5.8 assists and 3.4 rebounds on 60 percent shooting in his last five games, continued that trend and added something else—a 3-point shot, making four of six."
Fifth-year flurry: Pistons' Rodney Stuckey showing scoring promise
"For every player who takes the NBA by storm right from draft night, there are at least five that take some time to develop. Rodney Stuckey fits in the latter group. Midway through his fifth season, the Pistons combo guard from Eastern Washington appears to be living up to the vast promise he has shown at times since he was selected in the first round of the 2007 draft with the 15th pick. Since Feb. 1, he is averaging 18.25 points per game and shooting nearly 47% from the field while getting to the free-throw line nearly seven times per game. The Pistons are 9-7 in those games, culminating with Tuesday night's win over Western Conference power Lakers in which Stuckey scored 34 points."
Pistons' Rodney Stuckey breaking down defenders
"There's a lot to be said about Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey and what he does physically. But there's a mental approach he's grasping more of as he matures. The Lakers threw every kind of defense at him Tuesday — different defenders, multiple defenders, traps — and he adjusted, weaved his way through traffic and found himself at the rim. All for 34 points. "As you get older, you learn a lot with different situations," Stuckey said. "We watch a lot of game film.""
Detroit 88, L.A. 85 (OT): Rodney Stuckey, Pistons outduel star-laden Lakers
"You might want to take a seat before reading this. On a night when the Los Angeles Lakers and their three All-Star-caliber players invaded the Palace, the best player on the floor, for one night at least, wore the Pistons' red, white and blue. Rodney Stuckey scored 34 points -- including 13 of the team's last 17 -- to carry the Pistons to a surprise 88-85 overtime victory Tuesday night before one of the few sellout crowds of the season. See, told you that you would need to take a seat. "It's just being aggressive, taking the ball to the basket," Stuckey said. "That's pretty much my game."
Rodney Stuckey powers Pistons past Lakers in OT
"The Palace crowd came to see one of the game's best players. They left in awe of Rodney Stuckey. Stuckey put the Pistons on his back the final 17 minutes, overcoming the Lakers and Kobe Bryant in overtime, 88-85 on Tuesday night. Stuckey had 34 points, 17 in the fourth quarter and overtime. Bryant scored 22 with seven assists and five rebounds. Stuckey thought he had the game won when he hit a 3-pointer with 9.8 seconds left, but Bryant, who was struggling, gave the people what they came to see, hitting a buzzer-beating 20-footer, sending the game into overtime."
Toronto 103, Detroit 93: Rodney Stuckey (0 points) grounded by Raptors
"Want to get a heated argument started in any barbershop within the Detroit city limits? Just bring up the name Rodney Stuckey. On one side you will have vocal defenders of the talented -- yet mercurial -- combo guard from Eastern Washington who is through 4 1/2 seasons with the Pistons. They see the speedy 6-feet-5 frame and think it's only a matter of time before he becomes a force in this league."
Could Knight be Stuckey's backcourt soul mate?
"It's quite apparent that Rodney Stuckey likes playing with rookie point guard Brandon Knight. After they combined for 59 points and 10 assists in Friday night's 114-108 victory over the Kings at the Palace, Stuckey talked openly of growing with Knight as they join forces to form the backcourt of the future for the Pistons. Stuckey repeated that theme Saturday after a workout at the practice facility. "He's a great kid," Stuckey said. "He comes in with an attitude to learn and get better. He's always positive, and there's nothing really negative about him. Having that kind of energy around you helps you and picks you up.""
Pistons rookie Brandon Knight having positive effect on veteran Rodney Stuckey
"Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey stood in front of his locker Friday night, answering questions in his usual monotone, when he was asked if he fouled Sacramento's Jason Thompson on a block attempt late in the third quarter. As Stuckey began to give his standard answer, a voice piped in from across the room: "Yo, that was a great play." The voice was rookie guard Brandon Knight, who was smiling as he exited. Then Stuckey smiled, an act we hadn't seen much of over the past few years. It might not mean much on the surface, but basketball has seemed like a chore to Stuckey. He didn't really enjoy the game. After all, nobody likes losing and combined with the turmoil he had a part in last season,"
Guarded optimism for Pistons guards Brandon Knight and Rodney Stuckey
"It's fairly well known how NBA teams are going to attack offensively. The point guard runs a lot of high pick-and-rolls with the big men. Two-guards come off baseline screens with small forwards doing a little post-up and running off screens as well. So there's a premium on having players who can attack in transition, come off screens, play pick-and-roll and beat defenders off the dribble. That's part of the benefits of having a starting backcourt of Rodney Stuckey and Brandon Knight."
Rodney Stuckey makes progress before injury
"Every NBA player's body is on a specific clock, which explains the inconsistent play around the league in the lockout-shortened season. As for Rodney Stuckey, though, Pistons coach Lawrence Frank said he's seeing signs the guard is trending toward getting his body where it should be. Frank was encouraged after Stuckey's 28 points, five assists and four rebounds in the victory over Portland last weekend. But let Stuckey tell it, and he doesn't quite feel that way. "I'm not in shape at all, nowhere near it," he said, half-jokingly. "I just have to go out there and play instead of thinking.""
Rodney Stuckey catches fire, helps Pistons end losing streak
"Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey played with fresh legs and a fresh spirit Saturday night. He was everything the Pistons wanted him to be when they drafted him out of tiny Eastern Washington University. He made clutch plays down the stretch. He hit four crucial free throws and although he was anything but perfect, Stuckey was exactly what the Pistons needed during a game that teetered for much of the final four minutes. The Pistons beat the Trail Blazers, 94-91, ending a four-game losing streak during which the Pistons were only competitive in one game. Stuckey returned after missing four of the last 10 games with a sore groin. And in the games he played in this season — outside of a burst"
Pistons' Rodney Stuckey signs off on sixth-man role
"Rodney Stuckey as a sixth man? Neither Stuckey nor Pistons coach Lawrence Frank is tipping his hand, but Stuckey said he doesn't care whether he starts or not. "I think starting is only getting your name called at the beginning of the game," Stuckey said. "I'm just trying to help my team win." Stuckey has been recovering from a groin injury that caused him to miss four games and since coming back, Stuckey has been the first guard off the bench. With Ben Gordon and Brandon Knight as the current backcourt, Stuckey feels he can blend with either one."
Pistons crafted Rodney Stuckey's deal wisely
"It hasn't been a rousing start for Rodney Stuckey. After signing a three-year, $25-million deal that caused him to miss the first week of training camp because of negotiations, he is off to his slowest start since he missed 25 games as a rookie because of a broken left hand. Hampered by a sore left groin that has caused him to miss four games, Stuckey's numbers are down across the board after a promising month to end last season. So you can add another questionable signing to president of basketball operations Joe Dumars' résumé, right? Actually, on second glance, the deal makes even more sense -- especially when you consider that the third year of the deal is only guaranteed for around $4"
Rodney Stuckey gives Pistons three-guard rotation, which has worked in the past
"Some Pistons fans question why general manager Joe Dumars signed Rodney Stuckey to a three-year, $25 million deal rather than let him walk or sign him to a one-year qualifier. Perhaps Dumars' past as a player should lend some answers. He won championships with a three-guard rotation, with Vinnie Johnson and Isiah Thomas. Most nights, the Pistons rode the coattails of Thomas and Dumars — they both developed into Hall of Fame players, especially Thomas, a perennial NBA All-Star."
Room for Stuckey, Knight in Pistons backcourt
"It is becoming a common sight. After practice Monday, Pistons guards Rodney Stuckey and Brandon Knight went through extra shooting drills with assistant coach Dee Brown after most of the players already had cleared the floor to catch the team plane to Cleveland. That was also the scene Saturday -- the day Stuckey signed a three-year deal to remain with the Pistons."
Rodney Stuckey likes Brandon Knight by his side with Pistons
"Rodney Stuckey and Brandon Knight stayed late after Pistons practice Monday, going through offensive drills. In a way, Stuckey is probably ecstatic Knight is around because it takes the pressure of being a full-time point guard off him. With his contract situation fading into the rearview mirror, he's focused on just playing — with freedom. "Whatever position I need to play, I'll play," Stuckey said. "I know I'll play a lot of 2 (shooting guard) this year and also point, so I just need to learn both positions.""
Pistons' Rodney Stuckey says he'll be prepared
"Rodney Stuckey admitted he was a little tired. That was to be expected considering he had just participated in his first practice of the preseason and there is more work to do before he is completely ready for the Dec. 26 season opener at Indiana. But after re-signing with the Pistons for three years and $25 million, Stuckey promises to be ready, and he is energized by new coach Lawrence Frank and new owner Tom Gores. "I just hope we can get over this hump and get a change going," Stuckey said. "It's good that we got a new owner in here.""
Rodney Stuckey deal fair for Pistons, player
"Rodney Stuckey was eligible for a five-year deal. But after eight days of training camp, the restricted free agent combo guard signed a three-year, $25-million deal in time to join the Pistons for practice Saturday afternoon. "It's just a process; I'm glad it's over, though," Stuckey said. "I think the lockout and all that stuff had something to do with it. If it was like a regular season it probably would have got done a lot easier, but it's just a process and I'm happy to be back on the floor with my teammates. "I got to catch up a lot and learn, but I'll catch up." It's a good deal for both sides. The Pistons aren't locked in long-term if Stuckey's behavior doesn't improve. Although in"
Pistons sign Stuckey to 3-year, $25M deal
"Rodney Stuckey was all smiles after Pistons practice Saturday, hours after agreeing to a new deal. Stuckey, who missed a week of training camp, signed a three-year deal worth $25 million to remain a Piston. The deal falls in line with annual deals signed by Marcus Thornton (Sacramento) and Mike Conley (Memphis), in the $8 million per year range. "It's just a process. I'm glad it's over, though," Stuckey said. "The lockout had something to do with it. If it was a regular season it would've been done a lot easier.""
Source: Pistons sign Stuckey to 3-year, 25M deal
"The Pistons have agreed to terms with restricted free-agent guard Rodney Stuckey, according to sources . Stuckey signed a three-year, $25 million deal with the Pistons Saturday. Stuckey was drafted 15th by the Pistons in 2007, averaged 15.5 points and 5.2 assists last season in 70 games (54 starts)."
Sticking points keep Rodney Stuckey and Pistons apart
"Here's a multiple-choice question. Of the following players, who should make the most money? Player A: 15.5 points, 5.2 assists, 3.1 rebounds, 31.2 minutes per game. Player B: 11.2 points, 2.1 assists, 44% field-goal shooting, 26 minutes. Player C: 11.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 44.2% field-goal shooting, 21.9 minutes. Player D: 12.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 24.3 minutes. Even those who could not care less that the NBA season is on course to start Christmas Day probably would choose Player A. That player is Piston Rodney Stuckey, a restricted free-agent guard. Player B is Pistons shooting guard Ben Gordon, who is on the books for $11.6 million (prorated to about $9.3 million for the"
Busy reshaping roster, Pistons now must decide fate of Rodney Stuckey
"While the Pistons haven't been drawing the national headlines during this free-agency frenzy, they haven't exactly sat idle, either. They've addressed two of their top three priorities with the re-signing of Tayshaun Prince and Jonas Jerebko, along with the buyout of Richard Hamilton for a reasonable amount. A source told The Detroit News on Saturday the buyout is in the neighborhood of $8 million. Taking these transactions into account, along with the rookie-scale contracts of Brandon Knight and Vernon Macklin, the Pistons will pay approximately $56 million in player salaries. This season's salary cap is $58 million and the luxury tax kicks in at slightly more than $70 million. Rodney"
Joe Dumars turns attention to negotiating Rodney Stuckey deal
"With free agents Tayshaun Prince and Jonas Jerebko in the fold, rookies Brandon Knight and Vernon Macklin signed and Rip Hamilton waived, Pistons president Joe Dumars can turn his attention to restricted free agent Rodney Stuckey. The process isn't going smoothly, and there's a chance a team could present an offer sheet, which the Pistons would have three days to match. "There's always a number, but it's way up here," Dumars said as he raised his hand over his head with a laugh when asked whether there was a number the Pistons wouldn't match. Still, Stuckey was noticeably absent from the first day of training camp. But a news item Friday might have an effect on negotiations. The Kings"
Rodney Stuckey absent as contract talks with Pistons go on
"One Piston noticeably absent from the first day of training camp was restricted free-agent guard Rodney Stuckey. After it looked like the Pistons would have all their free agents signed and in camp, Pistons president Joe Dumars had his hands full with Stuckey's agent, Leon Rose, as well as the agent for Richard Hamilton. "We're going through (Stuckey's) first negotiation," Dumars said. "So, ironically, I've been on the phone with Leon Rose. So, first things first (Hamilton)." "The Rip thing took hours and hours to get to. We're going to get together late tonight, back on the phone and pick up with Stuckey." By all accounts, the Pistons consider Stuckey a top priority, especially after"
Rodney Stuckey, Chinese team linked again
"Another report has surfaced that Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey is being courted by a team in China. A report on sheridanhoops.com echoed an ESPN report from last month that Stuckey will be wooed by the Guangdong Southern Tigers of the Chinese Basketball Association."
Rodney Stuckey headed to Guangdong?
"The Guangdong Southern Tigers in China are making a hard push to sign Detroit Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations. The biggest hurdle for Guangdong to clear, though, is the same hurdle all Chinese teams face when trying to land NBA players: Stuckey, if he signs, would be unable to come back to the NBA until Guangdong's season ends in March, even if the lockout ends before that, thanks to rules instituted this season by the Chinese Basketball Association."
Pistons' Rodney Stuckey, Austin Daye fire agents
"he NBA lockout might be halting player movement, but the agent shuffle seemingly never ends. Pistons Rodney Stuckey and Austin Daye dumped agents recently. Stuckey fired Steve Banks, and Daye has moved on from Bill Duffy of BDA Sports. Stuckey, who has had multiple agents in his four NBA seasons, has moved on to Leon Rose, who represents stars such as LeBron James and Chris Paul. There was no word on Daye's new agent."
Pistons tender Rodney Stuckey $3.8M qualifying offer
"The Pistons have officially tendered guard Rodney Stuckey a $3.8 million qualifying offer, which makes him a restricted free agent. Monday was the first day the Pistons could offer Stuckey a qualifying offer, and the team had until June 30 to do so. Although it was a formality, it was necessary for the Pistons to essentially have the right to keep the 25-year old guard. If a team signs Stuckey to an offer sheet in free agency, the Pistons will have seven days to match. Stuckey averaged 15.5 points and 5.2 assists in his fourth season in Detroit."
Pistons will tender Rodney Stuckey qualifying offer
"In an expected move, the Pistons will tender guard Rodney Stuckey a $3.8 million qualifying offer this week, as Monday was the first day the team could do so. The team has until June 30 to make an offer, which would make Stuckey a restricted free agent. If a team signs Stuckey to an offer sheet in free agency, the Pistons would have a week to match the offer."
Rick Mahorn: Teams need great facilitator to be good
"There's a new word and a new position in the NBA that is being used a lot. Certain players have become "facilitators." Because there aren't many true point guards, teams turn to their facilitators to run the offense in tight games. LeBron James is a facilitator. Dwyane Wade is a facilitator. Tayshaun Prince was a facilitator for the Pistons. Detroit's Rodney Stuckey is more of a scoring guard -- not a shooting guard -- in the body of a point guard. "You have to have a great facilitator and a great athletic team to be good nowadays," said Rick Mahorn, a former Piston and former head coach of the Detroit Shock. "You have facilitators, not necessarily a point guard. Teams have been able to"
Rodney Stuckey returns with a bang in Pistons victory
"After refusing to enter a game five days ago, Rodney Stuckey went to his coach and said he'd play until the buzzer. In a game deemed by many as more important to lottery positioning than anything else, Stuckey emerged from his two-game punishment to lead the Pistons (27-51) to a 116-109 win over the Nets Wednesday at The Palace. He finished with 22 points and 10 assists. Stuckey's inspired effort, where he played the entire second half and made big plays down the stretch, made Pistons coach John Kuester feel vindicated about his decision to bench Stuckey. In a rare moment of candor, Kuester, who usually keeps his feelings close, explained his thought process. "Rodney Stuckey is an integral"
Stuckey gets benched for second consecutive game
"Austin Daye pump-faked, then unleashed a corner 3-pointer that looked dead-on and went halfway down. Except … it rolled out, and the Pistons fell 107-105 on Tuesday to the Wizards, running their road losing streak to 11. Pistons guard Rodney Stuckey did not play for the second straight game. Stuckey, on his way to the locker room, took off his jersey and gave it to a fan in the crowd. Wizards rookie John Wall got an uncontested dunk with 14.8 seconds left because nobody rotated back on defense, breaking a tie at 102. "A big concern was transition defense and it bit us in the butt," Kuester said. "We should've had somebody back and we've got to recognize that." Greg Monroe had a chance to"
Who's more to blame, Rodney Stuckey or John Kuester?
"There seems to be a common theme among fans commenting on Rodney Stuckey's latest run-in with Pistons coach John Kuester. They seem to think the restricted free agent is costing himself money as he seeks a contract for next season and beyond. If folks think that, they haven't been paying attention. To review, for the third time this season Stuckey was disciplined by Kuester after a confrontation with the second-year coach. He was benched for Sunday's loss at Boston because he refused to re-enter the fourth quarter of Friday's home loss to the Bulls on the night the Pistons retired Dennis Rodman's No. 10. He was benched for the sixth game of the season when he ignored Kuester during a game"
Stuckey: Hopefully, changes will come
"The Pistons are counting Rodney Stuckey in their future plans. But does he want to stick around? That's a legitimate question after he was benched again for disciplinary reasons for Sunday night's 101-90 loss to the Celtics. Coach John Kuester sat Stuckey because he refused to re-enter Friday's loss to the Chicago Bulls in the fourth quarter, according to a source with personal knowledge of the situation. With 4 minutes left in Friday's 101-96 loss -- an emotional night for the organization because of the retirement of Dennis Rodman's No. 10 jersey -- Kuester turned to Stuckey. And the fourth-year combo guard who will be a restricted free agent in the off-season refused to re-enter, which"
