Falcons wide receiver Roddy White and offensive tackle Sam Baker returned to practice Friday. White (knee) and Baker (ankle) did not practice Thursday, but were limited in their participation on Friday. "I anticipate them being ready to go on Sunday afternoon," Falcons coach Mike Smith said."

The Roddy White watch came to an explosive end Sunday against the 49ers at Candlestick Park. After a slow start this season, White put on a record-breaking show, recapturing his big-play, Pro Bowl form of 2008. White caught eight passes for a franchise-record 210 yards and two touchdowns, including a 90-yarder, a career-long catch. He broke Terance Mathis' team record of 198 receiving yards, set on Dec. 13, 1998, against New Orleans. "I just wanted to go out there and play well," White said after the Falcons' 45-10 win. "I felt like I hadn't been playing well up to this point of the season. "Me and coach [Mike] Smith had a talk. He was like, 'You've got to get back to being yourself ..."

Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White returned to practice on Monday after signing a six-year contract extension on Saturday. White was first in line for drills and was quickly re-inserted into the starting offense. Also, wide receiver Marty Booker reported for his first practice after signing on last Thursday. Middle linebacker Curtis Lofton (hamstring) returned to practice after missing a week."

Falcons Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White signed a contract extension Saturday night, ending his holdout that began July 31. "We're always going to be an organization that rewards players for being productive on the field and good citzens off of it," said Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff. "We are glad to get this contract situation resolved and look forward to a long association with Roddy." Terms were not available. Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald is the NFL's top-paid receiver with a four-year, $40 million contract. The deal ends White's eight-day holdout. He was fined $15,888 per day during the holdout. White is expected to attend practice Monday. "Roddy is extremely happy that ..."

"
There's a belief among NFL men that wide receivers are, with a few exceptions, interchangeable. Larry Fitzgerald is one such exception, Randy Moss another, Andre Johnson of the Texans a third. But that's about it. From there on, not much separation - to invoke a receiver's word - is seen between, say, the league's fourth-best receiver and the 44th-best. And that's why the Falcons aren't apt to yield anytime soon on Roddy White, Harry Douglas' injury notwithstanding. They think White is a very good player who's an important part of their team. They do not, I'm guessing, see him as one of the five most valuable men on the roster. I'm not privy to Thomas Dimitroff's innermost thoughts, but ..."

With his client losing in the court of public opinion, White's agent, Jonathan Feinsod, ended his silence on the negotiations. "I'm not going to negotiate this contract in a public forum," Feinsod said. "Roddy hopes to rejoin the Falcons as soon as this contractual situation is resolved." White's holdout is in its sixth day. He is being fined $15,888 each day, as determined by the NFL's collective bargaining agreement. Negotiations have not gone well, and White, who is under contract for the 2009 season, could be out for an extended period of time. He's set to make $2.28 million under his current contract. Douglas injury is not expected to push White's negotiations along."

"
The tone of Roddy White's negotiations with the Falcons has taken a turn for the worse. "I'm a little bit disappointed with the direction that the negotiations are going at this point," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said Wednesday. "It's one of those situations where both parties are digging in and feel strongly about their case." There were discussions Tuesday that went well into the evening. White, who is under contract for the 2009 season, wants a contract in the financial neighborhood of Arizona's Larry Fitzgerald, who recently signed a four-year $40 million deal. The Falcons apparently are not willing to go that high. Before Tuesday's talks, Dimitroff thought things were ..."

The Falcons suffered another blow at the depleted wide receiver position when Harry Douglas suffered an injury to his left knee Wednesday. Douglas went down after catching a pass from Matt Ryan during a one-on-one passing drill. After practice, Falcons coach Mike Smith said "I wish I could tell you what's going on as far as the injury," but said it would be Thursday before he can provide any information. "We'll know more after the doctors get a chance to look at him," he said. The Falcons are not sure about the severity of the injury, but Smith wouldn't speculate. "Anytime that you lose any player, it's not the best situation," Smith said. "Harry is integral part of our team." ..."

Pro Bowl wide receiver Roddy White remains a no-show at the Falcons training camp as they took the field Monday morning in their first workout in full pads. White's holdout is now in its third day. He has a year remaining on his original five-year, but wants a contract extension. White is set to make $2.28 million on his old contract. He is being fined $15,888 per day."

The last Falcons holdout also is the most-recent Falcons holdout. Roddy White missed the team's first full day of training camp Saturday because he wants a new contract following his Pro Bowl season. The wide receiver missed the first six days of training camp as a rookie in 2005 before signing his current contract. He is in the final year of a five-year, $7.35 million deal and is due $2.28 million this season. White was unsigned when he was late to camp in 2005. The Falcons' most-recent player under contract who did not report to training camp on time was running back Jamal Anderson in 1999. "I'm confident things are going to get done, and they are going to work in the best interest of ..."

Falcons wide receiver Roddy White, the 27th pick of the 2005 draft, was a no-show for the first team meeting Friday evening. White was scheduled to report by 6:30 p.m., but he was not there, according to his agent. Players not present for the first meeting are considered "holdouts." A player holding out will be fined $17,000 per day, as determined by the collective bargaining agreement. The Falcons have been in discussions with White's representative, Jonathan Feinsod, about a contract extension. He confirmed that White wasn't at the meeting but said "no comment" when asked to elaborate. White's holdout puts a damper on the opening of training camp Saturday. White held out for six days ..."

After two spectacular seasons, wide receiver Roddy White and the Atlanta Falcons are in discussions for a contract extension. White, who made the Pro Bowl for the first time last season, is entering the final year of a five-year contract. "We haven't come to an agreement," said White, who is set to make $2.28 million next season under his current contract. Preferably, White said he would like to enter the season with his contract situations resolved. "Whenever it happens, it happens," White said. "We'll just wait around for it." White participated fully in the Falcons minicamp, which ended on Sunday. He has also been taking part in the offseason workouts. After being selected with the 27th ..."
