"Neftali Feliz is not guaranteed a spot in the Rangers' rotation when he returns from the disabled list, manager Ron Washington said Friday. Feliz, in his first season as a starter, went on the disabled list Monday because of a sprained ligament in the right elbow and is expected to be out until at least late June. In his first public comments since the injury, Feliz said through an interpreter that "in my mind" he will go back into the rotation when healthy. Washington begged to differ. "Neftali Feliz needs only to get through one inning without complications for Double A Frisco on Wednesday before the Texas Rangers reinstate their All-Star closer from the 15-day disabled list. Feliz, out with right shoulder inflammation, gave a thumbs-up after throwing 46 pitches during a bullpen session Monday at Overstock.com Stadium. After a brief discussion with manager Ron Washington and pitching coach Mike Maddux, Feliz was told of his Frisco assignment. He can be activated from the DL on Friday. "He said he felt good, so he's ready to get out of here," Washington said. "Hopefully, that goes well and we can activate him Friday when he's ready to come off." Tommy Hunter will start"
