Miles Austin News & Rumors

Cowboys' Miles Austin: 'Last year I wasn't prepared for the season'
"After compiling consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons in 2009 and 2010, Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin battled with hamstring injuries in 2011, preventing him from playing in six games. The two-time Pro Bowler was recently asked if he's training differently to ready himself for the 2012 campaign. While answering that question on a video clip posted on MensHealth.com, Austin reveals that he wasn't in the best physical shape entering last season. "Right now I'm working with the trainers at our facility," Austin said during a promotional appearance at a Neiman Marcus store in San Antonio. "I feel like last year I wasn't prepared for the season the way I should've been condition-wise,"
Cowboys will pay a high price for Miles Austin's 2010 salary
"Miles Austin's contract is getting even more expensive for the Cowboys. The six-year, $54 million extension the veteran receiver signed in September 2010 is at the heart of the $10 million the Cowboys will lose for their salary cap over the next two seasons. Specifically, it is the $17.078 million the Cowboys paid Austin in base salary in 2010 that has Dallas facing a deduction now. The deduction, not deemed a violation, can be split between the 2012 and 2013 salary caps however the team wishes. A source said team officials are meeting to determine how to divide the deduction. The Cowboys could choose to lessen the impact this year, allowing them still to improve the team in free agency."
Miles Austin: My hamstring 'feels good' and 'it's not an issue'
"Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin missed six games during the 2011 season because of hamstring injuries. And the setbacks caused him to finish with his worst statistical season in the last three years. But during a recent radio interview, Austin said the hamstring injuries are nothing to be concerned about. "It feels good. It feels good," Austin told 1310 The Ticket [KTCK-AM] on Wednesday. "[It's] not an issue." Austin dealt with a strained hamstring before the season started and reaggravated the injury during a Week 2 victory in San Francisco, a game where the six-year veteran dominated with nine grabs for 143 yards and three scores. The two-time Pro Bowl selection missed two games and"
Five Cowboys who failed to meet expectations in 2011: No. 5
"Though the Cowboys failed to make the playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons, there were players who exceeded expectations. There were also players that failed to live up to expectations. We look at the top five players in each of those categories this week. Players exceeding expectations will appear at noon each day this week. Those failing to meet expectations debut at 3 p.m. each day this week. Failed to meet expectations No. 5 -- Wide receiver Miles Austin: Austin entered the season as the Cowboys lead receiver and Tony Romo's most reliable deep threat. He finished with only two games of more than 53 yards in the final three months of a disappointing season."
Dez Bryant must keep Miles Austin from settling in comfort zone
"Do you think Miles Austin will play like he did three years ago or will he become another guy whose play has decreased after a Jerry payday? Austin turns 28 this season. He still has some quality years left in his legs. But I agree, he hasn't been the same receiver since signing is last contract. Even in the stretches of the season that he was healthy he had little impact. This will be an important year for him. It sure would help the Cowboys if Dez Bryant decided to play to his ability and challenge to become the No. 1 receiver on this team. But if Bryantn isn't going to push Austin, he can settle into a comfort zone. That's one of the problems at Valley Ranch-- too many players have"
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expects receiver Miles Austin to be 'full go' in practice this week
"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said he expects Miles Austin to return to practice Wednesday, adding that the receiver should be "full go" this week as the team prepares to face the New York Giants on Sunday. Austin missed four games since suffering a right-hamstring injury during the second quarter of the Cowboys' 23-13 victory over Seattle on Nov. 6."
Miles Austin expected to practice Wednesday
"Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin is expected to practice on Wednesday and baring any setbacks from his recovery from a hamstring injury, is expected to return to the starting lineup for Sunday night's game vs. the New York Giants. Austin has missed the last four games with a hamstring injury and lost a total of six games due to leg injuries."
Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin ruled out for game against Arizona; CB Mike Jenkins listed as questionable
"Cowboys receiver Miles Austin is one of five Cowboys players who will not play Sunday against Arizona. Austin, who has been recovering from a right hamstring injury he suffered Nov. 6, was ruled out along with quarterback Jon Kitna (back), nose tackle Josh Brent (knee), fullback Tony Fiammetta (illness) and running back Phillip Tanner (hamstring). Meanwhile, safety Gerald Sensabaugh (foot), cornerback Mike Jenkins (hamstring) and guard Kyle Kosier (foot) are listed as questionable on the team's injury report. Punter Mat McBriar (foot,) linebacker Sean Lee (wrist), and linebacker Bruce Carter (knee) are probable."

Cowboys' Miles Austin will likely miss another game
"Miles Austin did not make as much progress in coming back from his hamstring injury after Thanksgiving as Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had hoped. But Jones said he believes Austin and Felix Jones will play big roles in any success the Cowboys have from here. "I would hope at the end of the year I'm able to say, 'Man, without Miles and without Felix, we wouldn't have accomplished what we accomplished," Jones said Thursday at Valley Ranch. Austin missed practice again Thursday, although he worked on the side with trainers. "It doesn't look as good as I thought it was going to look from the long weekend that we had," Jones said. "But we should be and are giving him the time, all the time"
Dez & Robinson not as good as Miles Austin; why Bryant doesn't get ball more
"Why don't they throw to Dez Bryant more? David Moore: I'll answer that with another question: why haven't the Cowboys thrown more to Jason Witten in the first half the last two games? He had no receptions in the first half of those games. With Miles Austin out, coordinators have set their defensive sights on Witten and Bryant. They feel if they take one, or both, out of the game for long stretches the offense will struggle. The Cowboys have been able to survive and eventually get the ball to both players because of the presence DeMarco Murray gives them on the ground and what Laurent Robinson has done at receiver. And one other point: while Bryant is explosive, I'm not sure consistency and"
Why 'Boys' WR depth chart not easy as 1-2-3 when Austin gets back
"At some point in the near future, Miles Austin will return to action. There is even a chance the veteran receiver could be activated this week, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones revealed Tuesday with guarded optimism. "We could sure use him," Jones said on his KRLD-FM (105.3) radio show. "We've missed him." That may be true. But the Cowboys have won three consecutive games since Austin strained his right hamstring in the second quarter of the Cowboys' 23-13 victory over Seattle on Nov. 6. They have also witnessed the unexpected emergence of Laurent Robinson, who has blossomed into a reliable, productive receiver exhibiting many of the characteristics that define Austin."
Cowboys WR Miles Austin not seen at practice
"A day after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed optimism that Miles Austin would return to the field this week against Arizona, the veteran receiver was not seen participating in practice Wednesday. Austin, who has been sidelined with a strained right hamstring since Nov. 6, was not spotted on the field along with quarterback Jon Kitna (back), running back Phillip Tanner, fullback Tony Fiammetta (illness), and nose tackle Josh Brent (knee)."
Jerry Jones expects Miles Austin to play Sunday against Cardinals
"Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones sounded optimistic about Miles Austin returning to action this Sunday when the Cowboys travel to Arizona to face the Cardinals. Jones was asked Tuesday during his weekly radio appearance on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM), if he expects Austin to play on Sunday."
Miles Austin's injuries are 'unacceptable'; was he out of shape?
"On whether the Cowboys even need Miles Austin in the wake of Laurent Robinson's emergence: Yeah, they need him. These are the Cowboys. They haven't won anything in such a long time. You're over here talking about the Rangers and what the Mavericks should do to repeat and all that kind of stuff, and here we are talking about taking one of the vital cogs of the offense and not having room for him once he's healthy."
Jerry Jones rules out Kitna, questions Austin's return
"On his twice-weekly radio show on KRLD-FM, Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones ruled out backup quarterback Jon Kitna (back) and fullback Tony Fiammetta (illness) for next week's game at Arizona. The Fiammetta injury is a mystery. Team medical officials are still trying to figure out what's wrong with the fullback. Jones said the illness is not bone or soft tissue related. But Fiammetta continues to get sick when trying to workout."
With Austin out two to four weeks, Cowboys to lean on Robinson
"With receiver Miles Austin out two to four weeks with hamstring strain, the Cowboys will consider adding another receiver to the roster. But with two kickers and two punters already on the team, a roster move won't be an easy proposition because of all the moving parts. The Cowboys however are comforted by the presence and emergence of Laurent Robinson who will start opposite Dez Bryant."
Source: Miles Austin to miss 2-4 weeks
"Dallas Cowboys starting wide receiver Miles Austin could miss 2-4 weeks with an injured hamstring suffered in Sunday's victory over the Seattle Seahawks, according to a source. Austin has been ruled out for this Sunday's game vs. the Buffalo Bills. He suffered the injury while catching a 37-yard pass near the Cowboys' sideline in the second quarter. Austin left the game immediately and didn't return. It's the second time this season Austin has suffered a hamstring injury. He injured his left hamstring at the end of training camp and, after playing in the season opener, he re-injured it in the Week 2 victory at San Francisco."
Cowboys WR Austin leaves with aggravated hamstring; 'It really hurts'
"Cowboys receiver Miles Austin is battling another hamstring injury -- this time to his other leg. Now his immediate future is in doubt once again. He will have an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the injury. "It's paramount I get back as fast as I can," Austin said. Austin missed two games earlier this season with a strained left hamstring, and on Sunday he injured the right one during a 37-yard completion in the second quarter of a 23-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks. "Randomly on that one play, my other hammy just grabbed up, out of nowhere," Austin said. "It's hard to describe how it feels, but it really hurts."
Cowboys WR Miles Austin will miss first game since becoming a starter
"A hamstring injury will force Miles Austin to miss Monday night's game against Washington. It is the first game the Cowboys receiver has missed since he moved into the starting lineup in October of 2009 with his breakout game against Kansas City. "I'm not reading medical journals and things like that, but I'm doing all I can,'' Austin said. "I'm getting extra work, I'm getting extra treatment, things in here (Valley Ranch) I'm bringing to my house. Icing it when I get home, really listening to the trainers here."
Romo stretches, doesn't throw; Bryant, Austin, two linemen miss start of practice
"Quarterback Tony Romo (ribs) dressed for practice and stretched, but did not throw, and receivers Dez Bryant (quad) and Miles Austin (hamstring) did not appear for the start of practice. Offensive linemen Derrick Dockery (knee) and Phil Costa (knee) also did not appear for practice. Running back Felix Jones, who suffered a dislocated shoulder in last week's game, dressed and stretched but went to the locker room."
Jason Garrett points finger at himself for calling running play that hurt Miles Austin
"Jason Garrett didn't hesitate Monday. The Cowboys coach said the team's offensive play-caller made a mistake on the final play of regulation in Dallas' 27-24 overtime win Sunday at San Francisco. However, Garrett calls the offensive plays for the Cowboys, so he was pointing the finger at himself when he took the blame for wide receiver Miles Austin losing two yards on a running play. On third-and-2 from the San Francisco 28, Tony Romo pitched the ball to a gimpy Austin in the backfield and instead of following left tackle Doug Free to the outside Austin cut inside and was stuffed, fumbling the ball. Luckily for the Cowboys, Free recovered to set up Dan Bailey's 48-yard, game-tying field"
Cowboys WR Miles Austin expected to miss Washington game
"The hamstring pull that has bothered Miles Austin since training camp will likely force the Cowboys receiver to miss next Monday night's game against Washington. Head coach Jason Garrett said he, "could tell that (Austin) wasn't quite himself'' entering the San Francisco game. That makes Austin's nine catch, 143-yard, three-touchdown performance all the more impressive. Garrett called it special."
Miles Austin hurts hamstring again, Felix Jones separates shoulder, Phil Costa dings knee
"The Cowboys are going to go into another week with injury questions. Miles Austin aggravated a hamstring injury when he ran the ball on the failed third-down that forced the Cowboys to try a field goal to tie the game. He might miss next week's game. Running back Felix Jones suffered a separated shoulder early in the game and wore a harness the rest of the way. Center Phil Costa suffered a knee injury and was replaced by rookie Kevin Kowalski. He missed time in the preseason with a knee injury."
Cowboys get bad injury news on Felix Jones, Miles Austin
"It's a good thing Dallas pulled off a terrific comeback victory Sunday, because the news after the game wasn't so good. Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that running back Felix Jones has a separated shoulder. Wide receiver Miles Austin also pulled his hamstring again and the team fears he will be out through the team's Week Five bye."
Miles Austin re-aggravates hamstring injury, misses walk-through
"Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin did not participate in the Cowboys' walkthrough Wednesday after re-aggravating the hamstring injury that caused him to miss the Cowboys' 20-7 loss to San Diego on Sunday. Austin's hamstring tightened up in practice Tuesday afternoon after Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said "he was practicing fairly well." "We're just going to monitor him the next couple of days," Garrett added. "He's day-to-day. We'll see how does and make a decision at the end of the week for the game.""
Austin's injury puts spotlight on Ogletree
"Miles Austin sat out Thursday's joint practice with the San Diego Chargers at Valley Ranch with a tight hamstring, giving third-year player Kevin Ogletree reps with the first-team offense alongside Dez Bryant. "That's been a theme for us all throughout training camp, a number of starting players, veteran players have been out for different reasons and it is fun for us as coaches to see how the young guys respond," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "At first glance, it looked like both Dez and Kevin had good days." Garrett was eager to see how the two would do against a different defense. "It's good to work against those guys, different corners, different defensive schemes, see how they"
Miles Austin's hamstring injury not serious; uncertain for next game
"As the Cowboys and San Diego went through an intense, spirited workout Thursday morning, Miles Austin didn't participate. He has a hamstring injury, the severity of which is unknown at this point. However, head coach Jason Garrett said it wasn't serious despite the fact that Austin's status for the Cowboys' preseason game against the Chargers remains unclear. "We just have to see day-to-day," Garrett said. "We didn't think it was smart to have him go out and practice today. We'll see how he responds to the treatment this afternoon." Meanwhile, quarterback Jon Kitna , who was suffering from a back injury, returned to practice. Among the other players who didn't participate Thursday were"
Miles Austin to the Pro Bowl, replacing Eagles receiver Desean Jackson
"It appears Cowboys receiver Miles Austin is headed back the Pro Bowl for the second straight year. At least if you can believe this tweet on the official @MilesAustinIII twitter page: @MilesAustinIII: Heading to hawaii...Got in through back door but I ain't complaining! He also announced during an NFL appearance on ESPN's NFL Live that he had been added as an alternate. He had to cut the show short and catch a long flight from Connecticut to Hawaii. The NFL and the Cowboys have verified Austin's addition to the Pro Bowl. He will replace Eagles receiver Desean Jackson."
Garrett on Austin: 'He can get better in all phases'
"Cowboys WR Miles Austin needs just 21 yards for his second-straight 1,000-yard season, but even with that said, it would be a stretch to say he's had a good year. Austin is coming off a 115-yard game against the Cardinals that included a 37-yard TD catch that gave Dallas a 26-24 lead with 1:41 left, but his performance was marred by three drops, including two that should have gone for scores. Interim coach Jason Garrett said Austin is still learning how to deal with the increased attention he's received after last year's breakout season. "He's certainly gotten a lot more attention this year than when he first started playing last year," Garrett said Thursday. "So you have got to go through"
Jones shows support for slumping Austin
"Even though Miles Austin is falling way short of last season's Pro Bowl production, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has no regrets about giving the receiver a rich contract before the start of the campaign. After catching 81 passes for 1,320 yards and 11 TDs last season, Jones awarded Austin with a six-year, $54 million contract in September. Through 13 games, Austin has 58 receptions for 826 yards and five TDs, including just 15 grabs for 185 yards in the last six outings. "I think he'll have his chances," Jones told Dallas radio station KRLD-FM on Friday. "We've seen him make some big plays. I'm not at all disappointed in his play in any way and don't want to sound even defensive about it. "He"
Non-diva Miles Austin takes Cowboys wins over catches
"Asked if he missed the memo on how NFL wide receivers are supposed to act nowadays, Miles Austin laughed. Thanks to the likes of Terrell Owens, Randy Moss and Chad Ochocinco, receivers are known as the divas of the league. They whine and complain when they don't get the ball enough. They alienate themselves from the team and make headlines. But, to his credit, Austin isn't following in those footsteps. Instead, Austin is focused on the positives. Austin points out he had 10 catches in each of the first two games of the season, and the Dallas Cowboys lost both. Over the past four games, when Austin has had only 11 catches, the Cowboys have won three of four. "What's there to complain about?"
Dez Bryant's receiving numbers more than Austin, Williams combined over last five games
"Dez Bryant's Q-rating is soaring. But the rookie's rise has come at the expense of starters Miles Austin and Roy Williams. Over the last five games, Bryant has more receptions, yards and touchdowns than Austin and Williams combined. Bryant has 24 catches for 359 yards and five touchdowns. Austin has 16 receptions for 251 yards and one touchdown, and Williams has seven catches for 88 yards and two scores. Bryant's popularity extends to the relatively ignored elder receivers. "Dez is playing lights out right now," Austin said. "If I was the quarterback, I'd be throwing him the ball." Williams had 21 catches the first five games but only four since then. Two of those came last week against"
Jason Witten, Miles Austin, DeMarcus Ware part of Cowboys' problem
"Jerry Jones, owner of the team with the NFL's highest payroll, can blame the Cowboys' sorry 1-6 record on the league's biggest collection of faux stars. But they're also losing because there are good players who are playing average and average players who are playing badly and bad players who are playing even worse than that. The people who are supposed to know better vastly overrated the talent on this team. That's Jerry Jones. And Stephen Jones. And Wade Phillips. And the scouting department. For whatever it's worth, so did I. You, too. We all did. But talented teams don't have four-game losing streaks. They don't go 0-4 at home. They don't crater weekly at the first sign of adversity."
Miles Austin among NFL leaders in drops: 'It's a lack of concentration'
"Miles Austin has worked his way up the food chain of NFL receivers. But being the top target also means that his mistakes are magnified. Austin leads the Cowboys with 36 catches for 524 yards. He also leads the team with four drops, according to STATS Inc. Only four players in the NFL have more: Philadelphia tight end Brent Celek and Minnesota wide receiver Randy Moss have six apiece, and St. Louis wideouts Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson have five. Austin is one of 12 players with four. He had two in Monday's loss to the New York Giants. One in the end zone wiped out a possible touchdown in the first quarter. And another would have been a first down. "It's nothing that I want to do, I"
Miles Austin's apology is a step in the right direction
"The apologies were flowing from Cowboys receiver Miles Austin by Monday morning, softly and repeatedly and by all accounts sincerely.A day after blowing off accountability for his culpability in Sunday's ugly and soul-crushing loss in Minny, Austin was killing himself so thoroughly for what he thought were his two penalties that you almost wanted to give him a hug."That is what is going to get us out of this," said defensive end Marcus Spears tossing his head in Miles' direction, "when your star players do that."He did not say "finally." Nor did I feel it was my place to interject. When players are grabbing for any threads of hope, it seems a little cruel to note that the more obvious"
'We killed ourselves' with NFL-worst penalties; Miles Austin mum
"For those inside and outside the Cowboys' organization who are agonizing over the 1-4 start, take a tip from wide receiver Miles Austin. Don't worry. Be happy, like Miles. Tug on your ever-so-stylish cap. Put on your headphones, and groove to the tunes. Leave the locker room without appearing as if you have a care in the world. You're Miles Austin, and everyone else is not. And most of all, do not even think of stopping to explain your two penalties, part of 11 by the rules-breaking Cowboys. That would bring clouds into a sunny day, and everyone knows Miles Austin does not do cloudy days. The carefree receiver left it to others to explain what happened. "We killed ourselves," defensive"
Miles Austin fulfills Cowboys faith with better numbers than Michael Irvin and Terrell Owens
"You should have seen the eyes rolling, slight chuckles and curious looks as Jerry Jones spoke in March 2009 inside the St. Regis Resort Monarch Beach in Dana Point, Calif. As Jones went over the reasons for cutting Terrell Owens earlier in the month, he mentioned Miles Austin's ability as one of the big ones. "One of the things in really evaluating where we are and this is the art of the deal is deciding if a player like Miles Austin is right here with a Terrell really to what he can do for your offense," Jones said that day. At the time, Austin had never started a game and had caught just 17 passes for 354 yards and three touchdowns in his first three seasons. In his three seasons"
Cowboys' Austin, Texans' Johnson similar in their game-breaking talent
"One wide receiver is 6-2, 215 pounds. The other is 6-3, 228 pounds. One has top-end speed. So does the other. One wide receiver can turn a short gain into a big play. So can the other. One wide receiver signed a gigantic contract extension this summer. So did the other. The biggest difference between Miles Austin and Andre Johnson is how they entered the NFL. Johnson was the third overall pick in 2003 out of Miami; Austin was undrafted out of Monmouth in 2006. Yet now they find themselves near the top (Austin) or at the top (Johnson) whenever a list of the best wide receivers in the NFL is made. "One thing's for sure about this league," Houston Texans coach Gary Kubiak said, "regardless of"
With 146 yards receiving, Miles Austin shows he's worth every penny
"On Thursday Miles Austin signed a six-year contract extension worth $54 million. On Sunday he showed why management rewarded him. With most of the buzz humming around rookie receiver Dez Bryant playing his first game, Austin was still Da Man. He reinforced his go-to role by making the catches to give Dallas a chance. In the end, after his 30-yard catch sparked new life with a first down on Washington's 13, one penalty negated everything. Austin finished with 10 receptions for 146 yards and a four-yard touchdown. It was the third-highest yardage mark of his career and the most since his 171-yard performance versus Atlanta last season. His four-yard catch gave the Cowboys their first score,"
Cowboys' Austin finally gets his big payday
"The Dallas Cowboys ensured that Miles Austin won't enter the season amid a backdrop of uncertainty, signing the Pro Bowl wide receiver Thursday to a six-year contract extension that culminates one of the NFL's great rags-to-riches stories. "It feels great to be wanted by this team, because I want to be here," Austin said at a news conference in Irving. Austin agreed in June to a one-year, $3.168 million tender as a restricted free agent, but owner Jerry Jones promised the fifth-year pro a long-term deal. On the same day the Cowboys went through their final full-scale practice for Sunday night's opener at Washington, Jones made good on his vow. The team confirmed the length of the deal, but"
Why Cowboys gave 'anti-diva' Miles Austin six-year, $54 million deal
"There were reasons not to offer Miles Austin the six-year, $54 million extension he agreed to Thursday. The Cowboys had a convenient out as labor Armageddon looms. The club could have clung to the argument that Austin is a one-hit wonder, someone who needed to follow his breakout season with another strong outing before he was rewarded with long-term security. These negotiating points were overridden by the team's conviction that Austin is a special person and player. "He's not a one-year wonder," said Stephen Jones, the Cowboys executive vice president. "Whether it be his work ethic, whether it be him off the field being a great leader. "He's the anti-wide receiver. He's the anti-diva"
Cowboys opening up money for a Miles Austin deal, or others
"Since April, the Cowboys have lopped off $16.124 million from their 2010 payroll by either cutting or trading veterans. First they cut Ken Hamlin ($5.596 million) and Flozell Adams ($5 million). Then Cory Procter ($1.759 million) and Pat Watkins ($1.176 million) were let go. On Friday, they traded Patrick Crayton ($2 million) and Pat McQuistan ($1.176 million). Some of that has been chewed up when you look at the draft picks, especially Dez Bryant and Sean Lee, but the bulk of that money could end up going to Miles Austin, whom the Cowboys have had discussions about a long-term deal this summer. I wouldn't say the Cowboys are being cheap, especially in this uncapped year. Call it a"
Miles Austin and Jay Ratliff named 2009 Offensive and Defensive POY
"The Cowboys took care of a little old business Wednesday at the annual kickoff luncheon, which supports the Dallas Cowboys Courage House at Happy Hills Farm Academy. Receiver Miles Austin was named the 2009 Offensive Player of the Year following a breakout campaign in which he had 81 catches for 1,380 yards and 11 touchdowns. Austin had a great year but it comes as a surprise that he won the award over quarterback Tony Romo, who had a special season of his own. But there is a difference between player of the year and most valuable player."
Why WR Miles Austin is the Cowboys' Van Gogh
"Somewhere in Miles Austin's Dallas home there is an easel, a lot of brushes and paints of all colors. During his rookie year, before the football world at large knew who he was, Austin tested his artistic skills almost on a whim. He never had an art class but just took to it. He hasn't done it for some time, but "if I'm hanging around the house, I'll set a base coat and do a little something," Austin said. He's "more of a shapes guy" but will look at everything, and the first artists he mentions as favorites are Vincent van Gogh and Andy Warhol. Hardly similar in their styles, van Gogh and Warhol offer a hint into Austin's ascension into Pro Bowl wide receiver and paparazzi-followed"
Days after Dez Bryant parts ways with company, Miles Austin in talks with Under Armor
"Miles Austin is in discussions with Under Armor about becoming a spokesman for the apparel company. Austin has been wearing Under Armor cleats in recent weeks, but he said a deal is not official. The talks started in the off-season before the Cowboys drafted Dez Bryant, who recently parted ways with the company. Bryant said he did not feel comfortable with the cleats he wore and has been wearing Nike cleats since being drafted in the first round."
Cowboys' Austin managing newfound fame
"The cameras were flashing, just as they always do around Miles Austin these days, as hordes of reporters and photographers engulfed the Dallas Cowboys wide receiver inside the Alamodome on Sunday. It's a scene the undrafted free agent-turned-Pro Bowler has grown accustomed to in recent months, only this time came with a twist. For once, he wasn't getting out of a car with starlet girlfriend Kim Kardashian by his side. "Miles is the American Idol," linebacker Bradie James said. "It's like taking somebody that worked at Container Store in the closet, and now he's the American Idol." Suddenly, Austin's image is everywhere, from the cover of this week's "Sports Illustrated" to the pages of"
Signing Miles Austin still priority
"All off-season long the Cowboys have said re-signing Miles Austin to a long-term deal was their top priority. Stephen Jones reiterated the point today inside the Alamodome but did not have a timeframe on when a deal could be struck. "When we make sure we've got our hands around everything, he's first and foremost," Jones said. Austin is set to make $3.168 million this season. The club has had cursory talks with his agent, David Dunn, and those could increase now that the team has signed all of its draft picks. Jones said nothing is concrete in terms of meeting with Dunn, however, it should be noted Dunn's offices are not far from Oxnard, Calif., where the Cowboys will hold their second"
Kim Kardashian can help Cowboys get to Super Bowl
"Will Kim Kardashian (reportedly dating Cowboys receiver Miles Austin) help get the Cowboys to the Super Bowl? She helped the Saints, and Chloe has helped the Lakers to two straight titles, so I say yes--more power to Miles. Do you expect Roy Williams to have a better year or will he get lost in the fold if Tony Romo/Dez Bryant start clicking? Better? Well, can't get much worse than last year, so 'better' is relative. I don't expect much from him, I'll put it that way. Romo has his favorites -- Jason Witten and Miles Austin. Roy is not a favorite, and while they can say all they want to about how good the two look in practice, when it's game time and the pass rush is bearing down on Tony,"
