Mike Thomas News & Rumors

Under pressure: Mike Thomas
"Obviously no one on the Jaguars is under more pressure in 2012 than Blaine Gabbert. But the quarterback is such an obvious choice, we will set him aside and go a different direction, to one of the people Gabbert or Chad Henne will need to be productive if the Jacksonville offense is going to make a significant jump. Wide receiver Mike Thomas will have better coaching with Jerry Sullivan and a better supporting cast with Laurent Robinson, Taylor Price and, presumably, a high draft pick in the mix. Matt Williamson of Scouts Inc. has said Thomas can combine attributes of Wes Welker and Steve Smith. But many Jaguars fans were left wondering about Thomas last season, when he fell off after he"
Jaguars receiver Mike Thomas ready for new push for demanding assistant coach
"Jaguars wide receiver Mike Thomas has an idea why his number of catches fell from 66 in 2010 to 44 last season. "We might not have been pushed hard enough," Thomas said. It is likely Thomas will be pushed this season under new receivers boss Jerry Sullivan, who has a reputation of being a demanding coach who wants things done his way. "Jaguars interim head coach Mel Tucker said receiver Mike Thomas has "a shot" at playing Saturday against the Tennessee Titans. Thomas suffered a concussion against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two weeks ago and missed last Thursday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. He practiced again Tuesday, a day when the Jaguars were not required to put out an injury report, but wore a red no-contact jersey for that practice. He was not cleared for contact practices. Later, Thomas had a headache and was held out of Wednesday's fully-padded practice."
Jaguars sign wide receiver Mike Thomas to contract extension
"Wide receiver Mike Thomas is the second Jaguar this week to receive a contract extension. Thomas, who signed a four-year deal as a rookie in 2009, was given a three-year extension worth $18 million that includes $9 million in guaranteed money. The new contract runs through the 2015 season. The Jaguars extended special teams ace Montell Owens for three more years earlier in the week."
