Marcell Dareus News & Rumors

Rookie year an education for Dareus
"Marcell Dareus misses Kyle Williams more than you know. Williams was the guy he leaned on in his rookie season, the Bills' only returning Pro Bowler, a fellow defensive lineman who understood what it took to survive a long NFL season. When the veteran nose tackle was lost for the year with an ankle injury in October, Dareus felt lost at times. Kyle was right. Until you played a full season at this level, you had no idea what a toll it took on your mind and body. "I look up to him," Dareus said Wednesday at One Bills Drive. "I'll ask myself, 'What would Kyle do?'" One thing Williams would do is play hurt. Late in a season, he'd joke that every part of his body was sore. He played for years"
Chandler limited, Dareus ready
"Bills tight end Scott Chandler was limited in practice today, while defensive tackle Marcell Dareus practiced fully. Chandler has missed the last two games with a sprained ankle and still is feeling the affects of the injury. But Bills coach Chan Gailey is hopeful he will be ready to face Denver on Saturday. "I think we've got a decent chance," Gailey said. "I'm not ready to give my full endorsement but I think we've got a decent chance.""
Broncos' Tim Tebow familiar with Bills' Marcell Dareus
""I have some good memories and some not so good memories." That's what Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow? said today when asked about Buffalo rookie defensive lineman Marcell Dareus?, the first-round pick out of Alabama. With Tebow having played at Florida, they went at each other twice while both were in the Southeastern Conference. "He's a very good player," Tebow said of Dareus. "He had a great college career, very disruptive. I remember he was a little banged up one year we played them. He's very strong, a very physical player. "He's a nice guy as well. He's a great competitor, but a class act, as well. I wish him nothing but the best.""
Keep Dareus inside where he belongs
"This isn't meant as an insult. Kyle Williams is a terrific football player, one of the finest defensive linemen in the NFL. Williams was the best player on the Bills last season, and the sooner he gets back to full health, the better. But his absence actually helped the Bills on Sunday. It wasn't doing them any good for Williams -- and Shawne Merriman -- to keep playing hurt. The defense was struggling with those two on the field. It was time to put young, healthy defenders out there and see how they handled the responsibility. Arthur Moats and Alex Carrington responded to the increased playing time. A host of defensive players rose to the moment in a dominating, 23-0, victory over the"
Who are you calling mama's boy?
"Marcell Dareus doesn't call it a dance, actually. The little celebration after he makes a big play or a sack is far from an over-the-top, look-at-me demonstration. It's more of a short wiggle and a shake. Then back to business. "I call it getting loose," the Buffalo Bills' new star defensive end says. "You do something in a game and you really can't explain the way you feel. Whatever comes to your head, just do it and react to it. It's more of a get-on-down." And it's another connection Dareus has with his late mother, the guiding force in his life. "That was something we did as a family," Dareus said. "Me, my mom and my brothers and sisters danced all throughout the day when we were"
Jackson, Dareus and Bell get starting assignments
"There weren't any major surprises in the Buffalo Bills' starting lineup on Saturday against Jacksonville. Fred Jackson started at running back as expected although backup C.J. Spiller entered the game on the third play from scrimmage while Jackson remained in the backfield. Spiller split wide left at receiver. Rookie Marcell Dareus, who suffered an ankle injury after getting kicked in the back of the leg, started at defensive end while Demetrius Bell started at left tackle. Midway through the second quarter left guard Andy Levitre moved to left tackle and Chad Rinehart played left guard."
Bills address biggest need with Dareus
"The Buffalo Bills addressed their biggest weakness Thursday by choosing University of Alabama defensive end Marcell Dareus with the third pick in the NFL Draft. Dareus, 6-foot-3 and 319 pounds, immediately upgrades Buffalo's woeful run defense. Buffalo ranked last in the NFL in rushing yards allowed last year and has ranked in the bottom 11 in the 32-team league against the run six straight seasons. The Bills made the choice after Carolina selected Auburn quarterback Cam Newton first overall and Denver picked Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller second. Dareus is the highest Bills draft choice since the team picked Bruce Smith first overall in 1985. He's the biggest and most talented"
