Lamar Odom News & Rumors

Dirk Nowitzki feels Lamar Odom will be 'important piece' down stretch
"Dirk Nowitzki will wait until this evening to find out if he's a reserve on the Western Conference All-Star team, but he's not really sweating it. "I may be the first Finals MVP who the next year is not an all-star but I don't think that's really what it's about to me right now,'' Nowitzki said after today's practice in Minnesota. What is important to Nowitzki right now is that the Mavericks have a critical stretch of games upcoming and he wants his team to build some momentum moving forward. And he has an interesting take on who might play a vital role for the Mavericks as the season meanders past the midpoint before the All-Star Weekend in two weeks."
Mavericks' Marion improved; Haywood, Odom hopeful, not definite
"The Mavericks expect to have Brendan Haywood and Lamar Odom back Friday night. That's particularly good news because the Pacers have emerged as an Eastern Conference force with 7-2 Roy Hibbert as one of their anchors. The Mavericks will need Haywood's bulk against Hibbert. Haywood missed Wednesday's game against Oklahoma City with lower back tightness but was able to go through a brief workout Thursday."
Mavs' injury list is growing: Haywood, ailing Odom sit; Marion plays through pain
"The infirmary is filling up for the Mavericks. They knew their night against Oklahoma City would be tough when they found they would be without 40 percent of their preferred starting lineup and the reigning sixth man of the year. First, they were without center Brendan Haywood, who sat out because of lower-back tightness. In addition, Lamar Odom, an important cog at times in the Mavericks' abundant group of reserves, was out with a stomach ailment. He had been sent home before the morning shootaround and did not return."
Mavericks' Odom ends slump, says tank isn't empty
"Lamar Odom is off the hook. For now, anyway. The most valuable off-season acquisition for the Dallas Mavericks, Odom had basically been a shell of his former self since coming over in a Dec. 10 trade with the Los Angeles Lakers. But he broke out of that shell Friday by scoring a season-high 19 points and collecting five rebounds during a 116-101 win over the Utah Jazz. Afterward, Odom deadpanned: "I've got a little left in the tank. I didn't expect to play bad 66 games in a row." The Mavs certainly didn't think it would take 20 games -- almost a third of the season -- before Odom had a breakthrough game. But they've been extremely patient with a player whom they believe can help them"
Lamar Odom hopes to build on strong game vs. Jazz
"When a player misses shots, it doesn't necessarily mean he has had a bad game. The same thing goes when the ball is going in the basket. That doesn't automatically signify that somebody is playing great, although that connection is easier to make. Everything looks better when the shots go down. In Lamar Odom's case, he hit seven of 12 shots Friday night, and it made the rest of his game look better."
Mark Cuban: There have been discussions about giving Lamar Odom some time off
"Mark Cuban was so unhappy with what he was hearing on the radio Thursday afternoon that he took to his Twitter account to air a complaint. The outspoken owner of the Mavericks took offense to what was being said about forward Lamar Odom's poor showing through the first 19 games of the season. "Listening to The Ticket radio....total idiots. Absolutely no clue," Cuban wrote. While joining the The Ben and Skin Show [KESN-FM] on Friday, Cuban clarified why he was upset. "The other guys were killing Lamar," he said. "They were just blasting him, and to me, it wasn't true, it wasn't right. It was uneducated." Odom has struggled mightily in his first season with the Mavericks. The 32-year-old,"
Carlisle still believes in Odom
"Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle was engaged in an interview with the media today when forward Lamar Odom walked by. "Get 'em off me, coach,'' Odom said. "Get 'em off me, coach." When Carlisle was asked why should the media get off Odom, Carlisle asked: "Why should you be off of Lamar? I don't know, are you on him?'' Actually, Odom has been criticized for not playing up to the fans' expectations. That reached a crescendo during Wednesday's 105-90 home loss to Minnesota when Odom was just 2-of-14 from the field and tallied only five points. "Hey, listen, we believe in Lamar,'' Carlisle said. "This has been a struggle so far, but this guy can play."
Lamar Odom gets starting nod
"Lamar Odom will replace Dirk Nowitzki in the starting lineup tonight, but coach Rick Carlisle made it clear that many options will be explored when it comes to dividing up Nowitzki's minutes. "Odom will pick up some minutes for sure and other guys will come into play,'' Carlisle said. "(Brian) Cardinal will be involved. Yi (Jianlian) could be involved. Brandon Wright could be involved and (Shawn) Marion, who's been playing extremely well now is going to be counted on even more. It doesn't fall on just one guy. Our guard play is going to have to make up for the loss of Dirk, too.''"
Derek Fisher believes Lamar Odom will improve soon
"The warm embraces. The 45-second video montage. The loud cheers permeating throughout Staples Center. It was an atmosphere that Mavericks forward and former Laker Lamar Odom acknowledged as "surreal." It was a feeling Lakers forward Derek Fisher acknowledged as "emotional." And following the Lakers' 73-70 win Monday over the Dallas Mavericks, it's a game that appeared to mark a turning point in Odom's development."
Mavericks' Lamar Odom on USA Basketball short list for 2012 Olympic team
"Lamar Odom has been selected by USA Basketball as one of 20 finalists for the 2012 U.S. Olympic team that will compete in the London Games. "It's an amazing opportunity," the Mavericks forward said. "Hopefully I can pick up my play so I can secure a spot on that team. I had a lot of fun doing that. And a lot of pride playing for your country." Odom played for the U.S. at the 2004 Olympics and the 2010 World Championships."
Lamar Odom still wonders why
"The half-eaten gourmet omelet sits idly next to the ignored biscuits and potatoes. It's obvious some of this Lakers stuff still bothers Lamar Odom. The popular Lakers forward became the former Lakers forward last month, a turbulent time that had him running the scale of emotions in a breakfast interview Saturday with The Times. He was involved in the most awkward trade veto in NBA history when Commissioner David Stern blocked the deal that would have sent Odom to New Orleans, Pau Gasol to Houston and Chris Paul to the Lakers."
Lakers try to reconnect with Lamar Odom
"Lamar Odom will be back at Staples Center on Monday, giving his former teammates a chance to catch up. Not that a few haven't attempted to communicate with the forward in the month since the Lakers traded him to the Dallas Mavericks. "I tried to call him," forward Pau Gasol said, "but he's hard to reach." The Lakers could always leave a message. Or not. "His voicemail is always full," forward Luke Walton said. "He was like that when he played here.""
Mavericks' Odom trying to move on from Lakers and city he loved
"From Lamar Odom's vantage point, the Los Angeles Lakers did him a grave disservice during one of the lowest points in his career. And when he was most vulnerable. After Odom spent the past seven years with the Lakers and helping them win NBA titles in 2009 and 2010, the team that he thought he would finish his career with attempted to trade him to the New Orleans Hornets in a deal that involved Chris Paul. Although Commissioner David Stern voided the trade, Odom felt insulted. "That's what let me know that it was time for me to go, and your time has come when you have to change," Odom said. "I thought any other time they would at least tell me that there were rumors, or a trade might"
Cuban says he's not concerned about Odom's lower production
"Lamar Odom enters tonight's home game against Sacramento with season averages of 6.6 points and 4.8 rebounds _ well below the 14.4-points and 8.7-rebound averages he had last season as a Laker while earning the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award. Odom makes his return to Los Angeles on Monday, when the Mavericks play the Lakers. He'll have an extended stay in his old stomping grounds because the Mavericks play the Clippers on Wednesday. "Lamar is not playing where Lamar would like to play, but he continues to contribute," Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said. "He does things that you're not going to get elsewhere _ and we're winning, that's all that matters."
Ex-Laker Lamar Odom looks ahead to homecoming
"Lamar Odom had one of his better games as a Maverick on Saturday night. It was clear that coach Rick Carlisle and Odom's teammates and Mavericks fans were coaxing him on, and Odom responded with positive body language and results. One play in particular stood out. As the final seconds ticked away in the first quarter, Odom held the basketball, isolated on the right wing . With his eyes and a tilt of his head, he motioned teammate Ian Mahinmi to set a pick. Odom faked his defender toward the pick, but instead drove the right baseline. At the last possible instant, he flicked up a pass that Mahinmi dunked with 3.8 seconds left, giving Dallas a 27-11 lead. Carlisle gave Odom a high-five and a"
Lamar Odom considered sabbatical
"As his Martin Luther King Day reunion with the Los Angeles Lakers approaches, Lamar Odom has revealed that he was "real close" to walking away from the game for a season -- or perhaps longer -- well before his December trade to the Dallas Mavericks. Left reeling by the July murder of his 24-year-old cousin and a fatal car accident days later that killed a teen pedestrian after the car he was riding in as a passenger collided with a motorcycle, Odom told ESPN.com that he had to be convinced by wife Khloe Kardashian to scrap his plans for a hiatus. "Real close," Odom said when asked Saturday how close he came to asking the Lakers for a season-long sabbatical. "My wife talked me out of it."
Odom says Sports Illustrated article 'cheap shot'
"Lamar Odom took exception with an article in Thursday's online edition of Sports Illustrated. In the article, Odom was quoted as saying: "I'm not prepared, I guess, to play. I don't know if there is anything more to say." Before Friday's game against Milwaukee, Odom asked: "I wasn't prepared for what? He kind of ran with that a little bit, you know what I mean. "That's what happens sometimes when you open up. I admitted to not being prepared. Things happen. Life is life.'' Odom said the article was "unfair" and "unjust." Odom went on to say: "Some people might take it as you just chose not to do anything. That's not right and not right for him to kind of put that in the air. "Not when I'm"
Lamar Odom not fitting in with Mavs? 'I'm not prepared, I guess, to play'
"Lamar Odom's early stat line shows he may be having a tough time fitting in with the Mavericks. Now his words are following suit. Odom, who is averaging just 6.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game in his first season with the Mavericks, had some interesting things to say to Sports Illustrated reporter Chris Mannix following Wednesday night's 90-85 win in Boston. When asked if he could find a way to succeed in the Mavericks' system, Odom had the following to say: "It's hard for me to say. I thought my game was equipped to play anywhere and everywhere. I'm not prepared, I guess, to play. I don't know if there is anything more to say.""
Odom struggling to find niche
"As his Dallas Mavericks teammates celebrated a dramatic, 90-85 win over the Celtics inside a dimly lit visitors locker room on Wednesday night, Lamar Odom dressed quietly in the corner. It has been a difficult year for Odom, from the ugly end of the 2010-11 season with the Lakers, to the murder of his 24-year-old cousin in July, to the death of a 15-year-old pedestrian that was caused when a motorcycle collided with an SUV Odom was a passenger in, to his shocking trade to Dallas, where Odom has struggled, averaging 6.6 points (on 29.5 percent shooting) and 4.7 rebounds through the Mavericks' first 11 games. Ironically, it was a positive comment from Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle -- "I"
Charles Barkley: Mavericks' Lamar Odom is just mentally out of it right now
"On Lamar Odom's early season struggles. Lamar Odom is just mentally out of it. It's like he was so offended that the Lakers wanted to trade him - it's like he's not there right now. He's a real good player. But it seems like he went through a divorce ... and he's just out of it. He's not even close to being the same guy. And he's a heck of a guy. But it seems like he was so shook up and he hasn't snapped out of it."
Led by Terry and Odom, Mavs bench strike again
"The bench came up big again for the Dallas Mavericks. With Jason Terry scoring 18 points and Lamar Odom having his finest hour with the Mavs with 15 points, the Mavs' bench outscored their Phoenix Suns counterparts, 51-21, during tonight's 98-89 victory at American Airlines Center. It's the fifth time in seven games that the Mavs' bench has outscored the opposing team's reserves. "Well, the second unit's goal is to come in and impact the game on both ends of the floor, and it's not just good enough to go out and play,'' Terry said. "We want to dominate every time we step out on the floor."
Mavericks working hard to get Odom in shape
"Lamar Odom is going through the Dallas Mavericks' version of a boot camp. And, no, this isn't some sort of reality TV show. For Odom, the cold reality is he's just not playing well, and the Mavs have to do something drastic to alter what has been a dreadful start for the winner of last year's NBA Sixth Man Award. Acquired from the Los Angeles Lakers on Dec. 10, Odom is just 4 of 30 from the field, 1 of 12 from 3-point range, 8 of 12 from the free-throw line and has 17 rebounds, 16 points, 10 fouls, three assists and two steals in the first four games this season. In essence, the move from the Lakers to the Mavs has been a disaster thus far for one of the game's best reserve players. Hence,"
Kobe Bryant to Lamar Odom: 'Do your thing' ... except when Mavericks play Lakers
"Los Angeles Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant recently took part in a rare one-on-one interview with Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports. As part of the 22 question-and-answer session, Bryant responded to a few inquiries that involved the Dallas Mavericks. And here they are. After getting swept by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round last season, what is the chip on your shoulder like now? Bryant: "No different. It's the same as it's always been." Did you dwell on that Dallas series long after it ended? Bryant: "No, no. I went and got healthy and got back to work.""
Lamar Odom hopes to make up for playoff scuffle with Dirk Nowitzki
"Lamar Odom's last moment in a Los Angeles Lakers' uniform is not one of his proudest. With the Mavericks closing in on a 4-0 sweep of the Lakers in the Western Conference semifinals, Odom threw an elbow into Dirk Nowitzki's ribs, earning an immediate ejection. Odom was contrite, apologizing immediately after the game ended, and he doesn't foresee any problems with his new teammate. "I think [Dirk] has forgiven me," Odom told ESPN Dallas. "Hopefully, I can make up for it.""
Kupchak didn't want to trade Odom
"General manager Mitch Kupchak said the Los Angeles Lakers traded Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks only because the veteran forward demanded to leave town after another deal fell through last week. Kupchak attempted Monday to explain the Lakers' frenetic four days since proposing a deal to acquire New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul in a three-team trade last Thursday, only to have the NBA squash the deal. Kupchak said commissioner David Stern's decision was "completely unexpected." He couldn't repair his relationship with Odom, who was stunned to learn he was included in the deal."
Mavericks elated to acquire Odom from Lakers
"The Dallas Mavericks acquired forward Lamar Odom and a second-round draft pick from the Los Angeles Lakers for an $8.9 million trade exception and the Mavs' first-round pick, the teams announced Sunday night. Odom should help ease the loss of center Tyson Chandler, who was traded to the New York Knicks in a three-team deal. The Mavericks received an $11 million trade exception in the sign-and-trade, $8.9 million of which they shipped to the Lakers in the Odom deal. Adding Odom and Vince Carter to a mix that already includes Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry and Shawn Marion has Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle giddy. "We're going to be a very good team," Carlisle said. "And we're going"
Dirk Nowitzki on how Lamar Odom will fit into Mavericks lineup
"Dirk Nowitzki sounded like a regular guy, which he is except for the $19-million salary and being one of the best basketball players ever. He was talking about the trade that netted Lamar Odom and couldn't contain his enthusiasm. "Excited, I mean really to get Lamar Odom for a trade exception - and I don't even know what that is - so we turned nothing into a great player.''"
Source: Lamar Odom asked for trade
"After all he had done in his seven years for the Los Angeles Lakers, forward Lamar Odom was so hurt by being included in a three-team trade for Chris Paul that was vetoed by the league, that he requested a trade Friday, according to a Lakers team source. His request was granted when the Lakers sent Odom, along with a 2012 second-round draft pick, to the Dallas Mavericks for an $8.9 million trade exception, as well as a protected first-round pick. Los Angeles, Houston and New Orleans agreed on a deal Thursday that would have sent Odom and Lakers forward Pau Gasol to New Orleans for Hornets guard Paul. Gasol would then have been sent to Houston for Luis Scola, Kevin Martin, Goran Dragic and"
Lakers trade Lamar Odom to the Mavericks
"The Lakers made a trade Saturday, but it wasn't for Chris Paul or Dwight Howard. Two days after getting rebuffed by the NBA in an apparent deal for Paul, the Lakers sent forward Lamar Odom to Dallas for the Mavericks' first-round pick in the 2012 amateur draft. "It's a done deal," said a person familiar with the situation who was not authorized to speak publicly. The Mavericks might also send the Lakers another unspecified draft pick. It was not immediately clear if the move was a straight salary dump or a circuitous effort to try to get Howard down the road or, less likely, Paul."
Revised deal reached to send Paul to L.A.
"The Lakers, Hornets and Rockets reached agreement on the framework of a revised trade sending Chris Paul to the Lakers Saturday, pending the resolution of some moving parts and approval by the commissioner's office, multiple sources told CBSSports.com. Houston would still get Pau Gasol from the Lakers in the three-team swap, while the Rockets would send Luis Scola and Kevin Martin to the Hornets, as in the original version that was killed by commissioner David Stern in his role as final decision-maker on major personnel moves for the league-owned Hornets. It wasn't immediately clear how the Hornets were satisfying the league directive to acquire young players and valuable draft picks in"
Chris Paul trade talks remain in full swing
"Well, that was awkward. A day after packing for Los Angeles, only to have his trade to the Lakers nixed by the NBA, New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul unexpectedly showed up for the first day of training camp Friday at the Alario Center. Still, it might have been just a cameo. Hornets General Manager Dell Demps said he is resuming trade discussions for his four-time All-Star and didn't rule out revisiting the Lakers and Houston in trying to consummate a deal that would get league approval. "Yes, people are still calling, and we're calling people,'' Demps said Friday. "So we're confident we can get a deal.'' Demps, though, didn't have a timetable on when a deal will be completed."
Hornets, Lakers, Rockets resume Paul talks
"The New Orleans Hornets, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers have resumed negotiations in an attempt to find a way to complete a blockbuster trade that would send Chris Paul to L.A., league sources told Yahoo! Sports. "All three teams are engaged," one source told Y! Sports. "Not sure if it will work." The resumption of talks comes less than 24 hours after the three teams agreed on a trade only to have NBA commissioner David Stern veto it. Stern released a statement on Friday saying he blocked the trade because the league-owned Hornets were "better served with Chris in a Hornets uniform than by the outcome of the terms of that trade.""
Stern kills Lakers' deal for Paul
"NBA commissioner David Stern has killed the New Orleans Hornets' trade of Chris Paul after several owners complained about the league-owned team dealing the All-Star point guard to the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. Some owners pushed Stern to demand that trade be nullified, and the Hornets be made to keep Paul on the roster for the foreseeable future, sources said. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was one of the most vocal in a chorus of owners irate with the belief that the five-month lockout had happened largely to stop big-market teams from leveraging small-market teams for star players pending free agency. Before Stern intervened, the Lakers had reached an"
Lakers set to land Paul
"The Los Angeles Lakers are nearing an agreement to acquire All-Star point guard Chris Paul in a three-team trade that will cost them Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. The Lakers are finalizing the trade with the New Orleans Hornets and Houston Rockets. Under the terms of the deal, the Lakers would send Gasol to the Rockets. The Hornets would receive Odom, Rockets guards Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic and forward Luis Scola, league sources said."
Lakers still in hunt to work deal for Hornets' Paul
"The Los Angeles Lakers are not out of the Chris Paul Sweepstakes. A league source involved in the discussions said late Tuesday night that the Lakers are still among the teams the New Orleans Hornets are having advanced discussions with on a potential trade of Paul, the four-time All-Star guard who is seeking a trade after spending his first six seasons in the Big Easy. The Lakers, Clippers, Warriors and Celtics currently have a leg up on other teams that are trying to acquire Paul. Yahoo! Sports had reported earlier Tuesday that the Clippers, Warriors and Celtics had the three best offers on the table for Paul. The Lakers' potential offer would send either center Andrew Bynum or forward"
Lamar Odom reportedly to play for Turkish team
"Although both players and owners hold out hope they can reach a labor deal this weekend, Lakers forward Lamar Odom has apparently already made contingency plans. According to ESPN.com's Marc Stein, Odom has agreed in principle to play for the Turkish basketball team, Besiktas, as early as next week. Should the NBA lockout persist at least through next week, Lakers forward Lamar Odom plans to play for the Turkish basketball team, Besiktas, until the work stoppage ends. Should that happen, Odom's overseas gig would mark a homecoming of sorts for his strong role in Team USA's FIBA World Championship's gold-medal win last summer in Istanbul. Although Odom's wife, Khloe Kardashian is of"
Sources: Besiktas targets Lamar Odom
"The Turkish team that features New Jersey Nets guard Deron Williams is pushing now to add Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom to its roster, according to sources close to the situation. And Odom, sources said, is giving the offer real consideration after Minnesota's Kevin Love turned down the chance over the weekend to join Williams with Istanbul-based Besiktas. Besiktas has been trying for days to acquire a top-flight big man to pair with Williams, who erupted for 50 points Tuesday in a EuroChallenge game. Yet in that victory over Gottingen of Germany, Besiktas lost Cleveland Cavaliers forward Semih Erden to a thumb injury that only increases its need for a frontcourt boost."
Lamar Odom may play in Europe in 2012
"Whether it reflects his pessimism concerning the NBA lockout, uncertainty about the Lakers or hope to expand Khloe Kardashian's brand, forward Lamar Odom told Pau Gasol in a tweet that he may play in Europe after next season. "it's ya boy @RealLamarOdom !" Odom tweeted to Gasol. "My dude really want 2 talk 2 u! Really thinking about going 2 play in Europe after this season!" Odom has a two-year, $17-million contract remaining with the Lakers, but he only has one guaranteed season, in 2011-2012, worth $8.9 million. The Lakers have a $8.2-million option for the 2012-2013 campaign. Only $2.4 million of that option is guaranteed, meaning it's possible Odom could become a free agent in 2012. It"
Lamar Odom appears in PSA for Life Insurance Awareness Month
"Various incidents trigger Lakers forward Lamar Odom to reflect on losing his mother at age 12 to colon cancer. It happens whenever Odom takes out a pair of white, purple and gold Nikes before every game and writes out Cathy, referring to his mother, Cathy Mercer. Memories spark whenever he accomplishes something, such as when he approached the lectern last spring to accept the NBA's sixth man of the year award. Odom's gratitude toward having a life insurance policy when Mercer passed away served as inspiration to becoming a spokesman this summer for Life Insurance Awareness Month, appearing in a recent PSA on behalf of the nonprofit Life Foundation."
Boy, 15, in Lamar Odom crash dies
"Neighbors have buried a teenager who died when a motorcycle collided with a vehicle carrying Los Angeles Lakers player Lamar Odom and hurtled onto a New York sidewalk. Odom, who stars in a reality TV show with his wife, Khloe Kardashian, was visiting his native Queens on Thursday afternoon when a motorcycle tried to turn left in front of the chauffeured Cadillac Escalade sport-utility-vehicle he was riding in, police said. The motorcycle hit the front bumper of the SUV and went out of control, striking a pedestrian, 15-year-old Awsaf Alvi Islam, New York City Police Spokesman Paul Browne said Tuesday."
Lamar Odom accident: Odom, Khloe Kardashian tweet sorrow, anger
"Lamar Odom, recently involved in a fatal car accident in New York, and wife Khloe Kardashian took their condolences to Twitter for the family of the 15-year-old killed. "My thoughts and prayers are with the young boys family..." the Lakers forward tweeted late Monday night. Kardashian, who appeared on the reality television show with Odom, "Khloe & Lamar," also sent out various tweets, varying in tone and message. Some were sympathetic over the incident: "My heart/soul goes out 2every1 in pain from any suffering ... Pray 4all of the angels surrounding us constantly. May our spirits stay strong.""
Boy injured in Lamar Odom car accident passes away
"We told you yesterday that Lakers and reality television star Lamar Odom was back in New York for the funeral of a family member when a car he was a passenger in was involved in an accident. At the time, we knew Odom was uninjured but not the severity of the other injuries. The 15-year-old pedestrian hurt in the crash has passed away, according to TMZ. Early Tuesday Lamar Odom tweeted this: My thoughts and prayers are with the young boys family…"
Lamar Odom is 'shaken up' after chauffeur crashes into pedestrian
"Los Angeles Lakers hoops star Lamar Odom was "shaken up" when his chauffeur-driven car crashed into a motorcyclist and a teenage pedestrian in Queens, according to reports Sunday. Odom, 31, was riding in the back seat of the car when the accident occurred Thursday while he was in New York for his cousin's funeral. "Angels are surrounding me always. Thank you!!" Odom's reality star wife, Khloé Kardashian, tweeted after the accident. The crash happened as Odom was being driving to a barber shop in his old Jamaica neighborhood, MediaTakeOut.com reported Sunday."
Lakers and Warriors discussed Odom, Ellis trade
"The Warriors have fielded numerous calls about Monta Ellis, and seem to be cautiously open to discussing the star guard's desire for a change of scenery. Such efforts have become increasingly difficult since the hiring of Mark Jackson as coach. Jackson wants to coach Ellis, and has become well aware that he has emerged as owner Joe Lacob's favorite player on the team. A recent conversation between the Warriors and Lakers centered around Lamar Odom and Shannon Brown going to Golden State for Ellis, but those talks went nowhere, sources said. The Bulls would become involved if they were willing to part with Joakim Noah, and Chicago executives have consistently balked at including him in"
Lakers tried to trade Lamar Odom for Minnesota's No. 2 pick
"Armed with only second-round draft picks in the NBA draft and an aging roster, the Lakers unsuccessfully tried to trade for the Minnesota Timberwolves' No. 2 overall pick in the first round. The Lakers offered sixth man of the year Lamar Odom for Minnesota's No. 2 pick, according to two NBA officials who were not authorized to speak publically on the matter, but L.A. was turned down. The Lakers wanted to use the second pick on Arizona's Derrick Williams, an athletic 6-foot-8, 248-pound forward, both officials said. When the Odom deal was rebuffed by Minnesota, the Timberwolves then inquired about trying to acquire All-Star forward Pau Gasol or center Andrew Bynum from the Lakers, both"
76ers, Lakers talk Iguodala deal; Wolves in play for Philly swingman
"The 76ers are continuing to explore trade options for Andre Iguodala, and league sources said that a deal with the Lakers involving Lamar Odom has been discussed recently. While it's unclear whether the deal has real potential or is still alive, it's yet another sign that the Sixers are determined to land an impact player while improving their salary-cap situation in any trade for their second-leading scorer and top defender. Iguodala is owed a combined $44 million for the next three seasons (including $13.5 million next season), while Odom is set to make $8.9 million next season in the final guaranteed year of his contract."
Report: Sixers, Lakers talk Iguodala-Odom deal
"After a short break, the Andre Iguodala rumor mill began churning again Wednesday, a day before the NBA draft. According to SI.com, The Los Angeles Lakers have discussed sending Sixth Man of the Year (not to mention reality TV star) Lamar Odom to the Sixers for Iguodala. Odom averaged 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and three assists per game last season for the Lakers, who were swept by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the playoffs. The Lakers would have to include another player – the report suggests Ron Artest – for salary cap reasons. The report also says the Minnesota Timberwolves may be offering the second overall pick in this year's draft for Iguodala. A rival general manager"
Andrew Bynum, Lamar Odom ejected for cheap shots
"With one dirty and unnecessary elbow to Dallas guard Jose Barea, Lakers center Andrew Bynum just wasted a season-long effort in avoiding a major injury, establishing a defensive identity and showing the dominance the organization envisioned he'd once own. With one dirty and unnecessary shove with his shoulder into Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki, Lakers forward Lamar Odom just wasted a season-long effort in playing at his most consistent, winning the NBA's sixth man of the year and continually earning the teams' respect as a positive locker-room presence. Bynum and Odom might have acted out of frustration with the minutes waning in an eventual 122-86 Game 4 loss Sunday to the Dallas"
Lamar Odom starting at small forward changes the Lakers' dynamic
"Fluctuating in and out of the lineup, changing from reserve to starter and filling in whatever hole the Lakers currently have pretty much fills Lamar Odom's job description. Versatility and consistency made Odom the perfect winner for the NBA's sixth man of the year. His skillset made any Andrew Bynum absence, injury-related or otherwise, seamless. And Odom's personality made it a non-issue. But Odom's revelation to The Times' Broderick Turner that he will start in place of suspended Ron Artest for Game 3 of the playoffs against the Mavericks in Dallas brings a whole different dimension. There's really not a dependable sample size to make an accurate judgment on how a triple-tower lineup"
