Kenny Britt News & Rumors

Kenny Britt has minor procedure on right knee
"Titans receiver Kenny Britt had minor arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Wednesday, a procedure General Manager Ruston Webster said should accelerate his rehabilitation process. Britt, who suffered a torn ACL and MCL last September, had been experiencing swelling in his knee in recent weeks, so doctors decided to go ahead and "clean it up." Webster said the procedure would likely set Britt back a week or two. "It almost becomes commonplace,'' Webster said of the procedure. "It is not one of those things, "Wow, oh no, he is having surgery. It is very common and if it helps his rehab process and all that, it is well worth doing. And our goal is to have him play this year. "It will be"
Titans' Munchak says Kenny Britt might need second procedure
"The Tennessee Titans were hoping Kenny Britt could move past his 2011 season in which he tore the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his right knee in the third game of the season. But Titans coach Mike Munchak acknowledged on Sunday that Britt might require a second procedure on his knee, comparing the wide receiver's predicament to that of defensive end Derrick Morgan. After missing all but four games in 2010 because of a torn ACL, Morgan had arthoscopic surgery in training camp last year."
Kenny Britt enjoys trouble-free offseason
"With a Coke in his hand, and a smile on his face, Titans receiver Kenny Britt bounced around Monteagle Elementary School like a big kid on Thursday. When he wasn't shadow boxing in the parking lot, or holding both thumbs up to pose for pictures, Britt was trying on the head of Ramble, the Tennessee State Parks mascot, a raccoon. Inside the school's gym, he ran around giving high-fives to little kids. Until one thing stopped him in his tracks: Sunny, the bald eagle who was also on the premises as part of the Titans caravan stop. "There's no way I'm taking a picture with that eagle," Britt said in all seriousness. "I'm not getting near it. No way!" And who could blame him? This particularly"
Tennessee Titans' Kenny Britt says knee healing well
"Kenny Britt has been married for only a month, but the Titans wide receiver is already seeing someone on the side. And his bride is OK with it. "I've spent more quality time with trainers than with my wife. That's no lie," Britt said with a smile on Monday. "She doesn't like that at all, but she understands, she really does." Britt is in his sixth month of rehab after tearing the ACL and MCL in his right knee last season. The fourth-year pro believes the hard part is behind him. "I guarantee I will be back and better than I've ever been before," he said. "With all the work I have been putting in, I will be 110 percent better than before. This has not been a setback if you ask me. The way I"
Tennessee Titans' Kenny Britt fined $1,500 in New Jersey case
"Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt pleaded guilty to a charge of disturbing the peace and paid a $1,500 fine on Tuesday, a Hoboken (N.J.) Municipal Court spokesman said. Britt faced several charges after a June arrest at a New Jersey car wash. Those charges included tampering with evidence, obstructing a government function and resisting arrest after Britt allegedly crushed a cigar containing what police officers suspected was marijuana. Those charges were later reduced and dismissed Tuesday."
Jared Cook, Kenny Britt will be powerful receiving duo when healthy
"Tight end Jared Cook ended the 2011 season the same way wide receiver Kenny Britt started it — on a roll. The Titans plan on the duo being productive at the same time, for the first time, in 2012. It could make for an especially potent offense. "Hopefully it is only clear skies from here," Cook said. "We definitely have weapons on this team, there's no doubt about that. Now, it is just getting everyone on the same page and using them. I think this year was a step in the right direction at least." Britt and Cook have had their moments over the past two seasons, but so far the Titans have only been able to imagine the possibilities of what they could do on a consistent basis."
Prosecutors drop charges against Titan Kenny Britt
"Prosecutors dismissed misdemeanor fraud charges against Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt Tuesday. Britt, 23, had been charged with two counts of filing a fraudulent license application in Davidson County General Sessions Court. Authorities initially said that he lied on his Tennessee driver's license application when he asserted he had never had his license suspended. Court records indicate his license had been suspended multiple times in New Jersey. Prosecutors dropped the charges at the urging of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security. Dalya Qualls, spokeswoman for the department, said Britt appeared before a hearing officer earlier this year and convinced the"
Charges dropped against Kenny Britt
"Prosecutors dropped charges against Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt Tuesday. He was expected to appear in Davidson Genneral Sessions Court today. Britt had been charged with two misdemeanor counts of supplying false information on a drivers license application."
Titans' Kenny Britt prepares for surgery
"Titans safety Chris Hope has had surgery on his fractured forearm, and wide receiver Kenny Britt is likely to have surgery on his torn ACL within a week, Coach Mike Munchak said Thursday. Hope, who was injured last Sunday, is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. Britt is going through "pre-hab" — allowing swelling to go down and strengthening the muscles around the knee. Britt was at Baptist Sports Park on Wednesday undergoing treatment and was "in good spirits," Munchak said. "He's ready to get going and get rehabbing." Wide receiver Donnie Avery, who tore an ACL prior to the 2010 season, said he has talked to Britt about what to expect. "I've told him he has a long road ahead of him," Avery said."
Replacing Kenny Britt will require group effort
"Since his first days as a Titan back in late July, quarterback Matt Hasselbeck was drawn to wide receiver Kenny Britt. He liked the third-year pro's competitiveness and attitude. He said he'd never played with anyone quite like him. And as the days went by, he relied on Britt more and more. "He is probably the most talented player on this team, at any position," Hasselbeck said Monday. "… I got into a little bit of trouble trying to force things to him, because I think he is really great and can dominate a game." Now, Hasselbeck and the Titans will learn what it's like without perhaps their biggest game-changer."
Tennessee Titans lose Kenny Britt for season with knee injury
"Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt has a torn ACL and will miss the rest of the season, Coach Mike Munchak confirmed this afternoon. Britt, the team's best skill player through the first two games of the season, was injured in the second quarter of Sunday's win over the Broncos at LP Field. Confirming The Tennessean's report, Munchak also said Britt suffered a torn MCL and would have surgery within a week. "It is very unfortunate for him, and obviously for us," Munchak said. "He was off to a great start this year. He is a special player.""
Tennessee Titans receivers fill void after Britt's injury
"With wide receiver Kenny Britt catching passes like never before, the Titans' aerial attack was starting to look all but unstoppable as halftime approached on Sunday. One false step may have changed the outlook for the season. The Titans did not have an official prognosis on Britt's right knee injury following Sunday's 17-14 win over the Broncos. That news will likely come at some point today. But as Britt walked out of the locker room with his leg in a brace, it was easy to consider the worst — that a potential ACL or MCL tear could keep him out for weeks or the rest of the year. "I'm not going to act like it's not going to hurt us," wide receiver Nate Washington said. "It will hurt us"
Tennessee Titans' Kenny Britt suffers knee injury
"Titans receiver Kenny Britt was taken off the field on a cart during the second quarter of Sunday's game against the Broncos after suffering a knee injury and team officials said his return was questionable. Britt injured his right knee after making a catch from quarterback Matt Hasselbeck. Britt avoided a Denver tackler, but his knee twisted when he made a cut and then he fumbled."
Titans' Britt carted off with apparent knee injury
"Tennessee wide receiver Kenny Britt left Sunday's game against the Broncos with an apparent right knee injury, and it doesn't look good for his return. Britt was injured at the end of a short reception during the second quarter. His right knee appeared to buckle as he stepped toward the sideline, and it gave way on his next step as he fell to the ground and fumbled the football."
Tennessee Titans' Kenny Britt, Matt Hasselbeck get in sync
"As he greeted Kenny Britt after their 4-yard touchdown play just before halftime Sunday, quarterback Matt Hasselbeck delivered an interesting message to his uber-talented receiver. "He came up to me and said, 'Once I know what you're doing at all times, we're going to be great at it,' " Britt said. "That's what I'm working for." In other words, the best may be yet to come for the tandem of Hasselbeck and Britt, who already have connected 14 times for 271 yards and three touchdowns in two games."
Kenny Britt catches two touchdowns for Tennessee Titans
"All preseason, Tennessee Titans receiver Kenny Britt faced questions about his nagging hamstring injury and a possible suspension for offseason misdeeds. He finally changed the subject on Sunday, making five catches for 136 yards and two touchdowns as the Titans lost to the Jaguars 16-14. "I had confidence in myself and in the matchup across the ball with our receivers," Britt said. " … It's frustrating we lost, that's the biggest thing. But I am still confident about this team. We started slow, but once we got moving there was no stopping us. I think we're going to be all right." The third-year pro scored an 80-yard touchdown in the third quarter when he caught a flip pass from"
Wide receiver Kenny Britt kept Titans alive
"Kenny Britt's pattern when playing against the Jaguars is here one game, gone the next. Sunday's game at Everbank Field was clearly an example of the Tennessee Titans' third-year wide receiver showing up for work. He was the only playmaker for the Titans, scoring both of touchdowns in the 16-14 loss to the Jaguars. He finished with five receptions for 136 yards. Britt and the rest of the Tennessee offense struggled in the first half. He caught one pass for 11 yards and the Titans had only 89 yards in offense."
Titans ready to get Kenny Britt back on field
"Kenny Britt is off the hook from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. So when will the Titans be ready to turn the receiver loose on the field? Coach Mike Munchak said Sunday he expects Britt, who has been slowed by hamstring and quad injuries, to work with the first-team offense today, and there's a chance he could play on a limited basis in the preseason finale at New Orleans on Thursday. The top priority, of course, is to have Britt ready for the regular-season opener on Sept. 11 at Jacksonville. "For Kenny it is probably more of a conditioning thing, what kind of shape he is in, getting hit," Munchak said. "We have to be smart with it. We can't go out there and assume he is going to play"
Britt warned — not suspended — by NFL commissioner
"No more wondering. Kenny Britt received word Saturday during the Tennessee Titans' 14-13 preseason victory over the Chicago Bears that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell would not suspend him for a series of off-the-field incidents while NFL players were locked out this offseason. "I'm really happy it's resolved," Britt said in the locker room following the contest. "It's behind me now. Now I have 100 percent of my mind on football and the start of the season.""
Britt avoids punishment from NFL
"The NFL will not discipline Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt for repeated run-ins with the law, three of which occurred during the 4½-month lockout. Britt and the Titans had been waiting for NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell's decision since a Tuesday meeting between Goodell and Britt in New York. The league informed the Titans shortly before Saturday's game that it would not take action against Britt. But the commissioner reiterated his expectation that Britt will be responsible for his actions going forward and noted that future incidents will lead to appropriate discipline."
Tennessee Titans' Kenny Britt avoids NFL suspension
"Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt will not be suspended by the NFL for repeated run-ins with the law, three of which occurred during the 4½-month lockout. The NFL has informed Britt and the Titans of Commissioner Roger Goodell's decision, the team confirmed just before kickoff against the Bears on Saturday night. Goodell reiterated his expectation that Britt will be responsible for his actions going forward and future incidents will be disciplined, according to the Titans. Britt met with Goodell on Tuesday in New York and returned to Nashville upbeat."
Tennessee Titans, Kenny Britt wait for NFL discipline
"A day after his meeting with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, receiver Kenny Britt and the Titans were still wondering whether Britt would be fined or suspended for events that occurred during the lockout. "I was hoping when I walked out the door, I'd get a phone call or a text saying, 'Hey, you're OK.' But that didn't happen," Britt said. "He said as soon as possible, so I'll just wait on it." Guard Jake Scott reiterated that the NFL Players Association is prepared to fight any discipline rendered for actions that occurred during the lockout, since the league wasn't allowing players to work at that point. "I think everybody is kind of waiting to see what the reaction from the league office"
Titans' Kenny Britt upbeat after meeting with Roger Goodell
"Titans receiver Kenny Britt met with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in New York on Tuesday as an earthquake hit the East coast. The seismic activity wasn't the result of Goodell putting the hammer down on the third-year pro, however. The meeting went well, Britt said, and he expects to learn this week whether he will be punished for some run-ins with the law during the 4½-month NFL lockout. "He didn't scold me or anything. He was happy — not happy that I was in there for those situations — but he's a nice type of guy, a very likable guy,'' Britt said at Nashville International Airport. "We'll find out sometime later this week what he decides to do.""
Tennessee Titans' Kenny Britt meets today with NFL commissioner
"Just prior to training camp, Titans Coach Mike Munchak called receiver Kenny Britt into his office to rehash an offseason of ugliness. Conventional wisdom said the first-year head coach would discipline Britt for a handful of run-ins with the law during the 4½-month NFL lockout, but instead he let his budding star off the hook. Munchak and Britt hope NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will do the same. Britt is scheduled to meet with Goodell in New York today. "We'll have a sit-down, talk over what happened, see where our minds are at, see where I am at and see what happens from there," Britt said on Monday. "I'm being hopeful that nothing happens to me. I plan on being real. I was brought up"
Kenny Britt goes through first training camp workout with Titans
"Receiver Kenny Britt took part in team drills Monday for the first time in training camp and looked completely recovered from his most recent hamstring injury. Britt, however, said that's not the case. "I am still holding back. I know that it is not 100 percent even though I am running," he said. "Getting in and out of my breaks and when I am running I still feel it, and in the back of my mind I can't just go out there and run full speed and set myself back and then be out for three more weeks. That would be bad." Britt, who sat out the preseason opener against the Vikings, made several nice catches Monday. The Titans say Britt could play Saturday at St. Louis. Britt, who has been bothered"
Tennessee Titans still waiting on Kenny Britt
"More than halfway through Titans training camp, the team's leading receiver has yet to participate in a full-speed practice and he's unlikely to play in the preseason opener on Saturday. "I feel like a pit bull that's tied down in his backyard," Kenny Britt said. "I'm over here biting on the chain and asking to do more." Although there's no denying his eagerness to get back to full speed, it's easy to wonder how much damage has already been done to Britt's learning curve as he readies for his third season. His slow start to camp — because of a hamstring injury — would have been harmful enough following a regular offseason. But because of the lockout, Britt doesn't have a base of organized"
Britt inadvertently blows the whistle on the Titans
"Titans receiver Kenny Britt, who had an eventful offseason for all the wrong reasons, possibly has made the preseason even more eventful for his coaching staff. Despite a clear prohibition from the league office against teams contacting players during the lockout, Britt told 104.5 the Zone's 3 Hour Lunch in Nashville that he regularly heard from Titans receivers coach Dave Ragone."
