Jordan Eberle News & Rumors

Eberle leads Canada past Switzerland in pre-worlds exhibition
"Jordan Eberle has a knack for scoring key goals for Canada at international events and added to his resume again on Sunday in Fribourg, Switzerland. The forward with the Edmonton Oilers scored with less than a second to go to force overtime in an exhibition game against Switzerland and then potted the shootout winner as Canada won 2-1. Daniel Rubin scored the lone goal for Switzerland."
Oilers forward Eberle shortlisted for Lady Byng Memorial Trophy
"After spending just 10 minutes in the penalty box while registering a team high 76 points, the Edmonton Oilers Jordan Eberle earned a nod Monday as one of three finalists for the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. The 21-year-old right winger joins the Florida Panthers Brian Campbell, 32, and Matt Moulson, 28, of the New York Islanders as finalists chosen by the Professional Hockey Writers Association. The winner will be revealed June 20 at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas. The Lady Byng is awarded for good sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct."
Protecting RNH, other Oilers stars essential in rebuild
"NHL stars have an office where they work, but there's no sign anywhere in the workplace that says "admittance restricted." You can bother the league's best players, annoy them, even hit them, but must don't take a run at them. Jared Boll is an indiscriminate disturber who pretty much tries to hit everybody, as does his Columbus Blue Jackets teammate Derek Dorsett. But Boll was looking to do more than get in the hair of Edmonton Oilers rookie centre Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on Sunday when he tried to knock off his block in the open ice."
Eberle not quite fast enough to break record
"The instant Jordan Eberle got that puck past Sharks goalie Antti Niemi 10 seconds after the opening faceoff on Tuesday at the Shark Tank in San Jose, the Edmonton Oilers record book came out, but why did we bother? We all knew Wayne Gretzky must have done it faster. And he did, in eight seconds, on Dec. 14, 1983, the first of nine goals by the Oilers that night against the New York Rangers. Of course, Gretzky had a hat-trick at Madison Square Garden on goalie Glen Hanlon, the 22nd of his career (and this was only his fifth NHL year). Gretzky is one of 15 players, actually, to score eight seconds after the game started, the most recent being St. Louis Blues' Alex Steen in March 2010 against"
Oilers kids show their mettle
"Interim head coach Ralph Krueger was talking about his two scorers in perhaps his final game replacing concussed Tom Renney as the coach of the Edmonton Oilers. "I was coaching a country for 13 years that couldn't score goals," said the former national coach of Switzerland. "We would win games 1-0 or 2-1 or not at all. "When I came to training camp here last year, it's the one part of my coaching portfolio which has expanded — learning about offence and how these players are able to create and find holes. "It's the most exciting thing for me."
Fun to play spoiler, says Oilers' Eberle
"One team's demise is another's joy. Especially in the Battle of Alberta. "It's fun playing spoiler," admitted Jordan Eberle, who led the Oilers' 6-1 assault against the Flames on Tuesday night to end a 10-game winless streak at the Saddledome. "We're in a situation where we want to win hockey games, move up the standings and be the best team we can be. "You get a team like this fighting for a playoff spot and you come in and kind of disrupt that, it's fun. That's what we're here to do . . . we want to be competitive.""
Eberle on a tear
"Sam Gagner may have gotten all the attention last week, but it's hard not to notice the run Jordan Eberle is putting together. Another two-goal performance Monday against the Toronto Maple Leafs gave the sophomore sensation six goals in a span of just over a week. He has team-leading 24 on the season heading into Wednesday's game against the Detroit Red Wings and is on pace to break the 35-goal plateau. "He's just has a really good feel around the net, and he's got such good timing, that whenever he's around the net there's never anyone really around him to try and get the puck off him," said Oilers winger Taylor Hall. "I think we can all, as hockey players, learn something from that. He's"
Eberle setting pace to pass 30-goal barrier
"While thunder-stealer Sam Gagner was banking points at a record-setting pace, Jordan Eberle was doing some nifty work of his own for the Edmonton Oilers. He still is actually. Eberle scored twice in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, upping his goal tally to 24. He heads into tonight's game against the Detroit Red Wings with six goals in the last four games and with 29 games still to be played, the sophomore is poised to become the club's third 30-goal scorer in nine seasons."
Eberle drinks in lessons of all-star game
"After playing sightseer, autograph-seeker, and wing on the fourth line, Jordan Eberle said his first trip to the NHL's all-star game was an experience he won't soon forget. While his teammates scattered to sunnier destinations, the Edmonton Oilers sophomore headed to Ottawa. Fitting really. In his draft year, the class of 2008 headed to Scotiabank Place. One year after the Oilers selected Eberle in the first round, he returned to the rink for the 2009 world junior championship, and helped Canada capture gold."
Eberle returns to lineup after four-game absence
"After testing out his right knee in two practice sessions, and after twisting the arm of his head coach, Jordan Eberle returned to the Edmonton Oilers lineup on Thursday night. Eberle missed four games after getting tangled up with Jamie Benn of the Dallas Stars on Jan. 7, but he was back for Thursday's road contest against the St. Louis Blues. "If anything, I don't think they wanted me to play. It was more about me feeling great and wanting to get in," he said."
Eberle gets back to business
"Jordan Eberle headed out Tuesday morning for his first practice since leaving the Edmonton Oilers lineup with a knee injury. Eberle, who got tangled up with the Dallas Stars' Jamie Benn on Jan. 7, is aiming to get back before the all-star break at the end of the month. "It felt good," said the sniper. "It's good to get back on the road, be with the team, shoot on goalies … the whole nine yards. "At times I want to go 100 per cent but then I can feel it a bit. Today was probably my best day." Eberle leads the Oilers with 17 goals and 26 assists."
Eberle to be a spectator on road trip
"The Edmonton Oilers packed Jordan Eberle's hockey gear for the charter flight to Columbus on Monday morning, but he'll likely only be skating in practice, not playing against the Blue Jackets or against the Blues on Thursday in St. Louis. You won't see No. 14 on your TV screen on Tuesday night. Eberle, who has 43 points, sprained his right knee in Dallas on Jan. 7 when he got tangled up with Stars forward Jamie Benn, might be ready to play against the Calgary Flames when they're at Rexall Place on Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night. That would be exactly two weeks from the time he was hurt. They did say he'd be out two to three weeks. If he plays, will the National Hockey League"
Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins, the Diaper Snipers, would have been in All-Star Game if they weren't injured
"Bob McKenzie of TSN reports on Twitter: "If Eberle and RNH were healthy, they would have been named to the All-Star Game. The Oilers were told that." The Oilers have now confirmed this. Oilers fans were momentarily outraged when the NHL All-Star teams were announced today and Jordan Eberle wasn't on the team, but it makes good sense that the only reason he wouldn't be on the squad is his current injury. Better to make sure he's sound than to rush back for a ceremonial contest. All-Star rosters are mainly decided on basic scoring stats and reputation, not two-way play, and Eberle and Nugent-Hopkins have both done very well by the obvious indicators."
Jordan Eberle hopes to be back by the all-star break
"The way Jordan Eberle was pitching it, there's never a good time to limp out of the lineup. But this might be the worst time. Before the Edmonton Oilers forward got tangled up with the Dallas Stars' Jamie Benn, he had scored 14 goals and 18 assists in his previous 25 games. He was scoring at an all-star pace and had played himself into the league's top 10 scorers. Now he'll be out for two to three weeks with a sprained right knee. "Obviously, my focus has changed. I'm just trying to get healthy and get back in the lineup as soon as I can," Eberle said on Tuesday after receiving the results of his MRI."
Eberle latest injured Oiler
"Games lost: Six. Players lost: Three. The body count from the last seven road games could be more damaging for the Edmonton Oilers than the results on the scoreboard. While Jamie Benn scored twice Saturday to give him eight goals in nine career games against Edmonton, he also inadvertently knocked the Oilers' best player, Jordan Eberle, out of the game early in the first period of the Dallas Stars' 4-1 win at the American Airlines Center. Call it a hat trick, of sorts. Eberle injured his right knee and will be examined, probably Monday. The Oilers are hoping it's not as bad as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins' separated shoulder, which will sideline him for the rest of this month. Nugent-Hopkins was"
Eberle has proven he's all-star material
"If the National Hockey League head office is making its list and checking it twice for players in the all-star game, Jordan Eberle should be on it, and it wouldn't be throwing the Edmonton Oilers a bone. Eberle is seventh in NHL scoring, tied in points with Evgeni Malkin, only five points back of Claude Giroux and Henrik Sedin who lead the parade with 48. Pretty good company. In a season of ups and down for the Oilers, who started with a bang and now are leaving games with a whimper, he's travelled the smoothest road. Almost no bumps along the way. In the last 22 games, going back to the Oilers' 9-2 smackdown of the Chicago Blackhawks on Nov. 19, Eberle has points in 19 of those games. He"
Oilers' Eberle an All-Star contender
"If Jordan Eberle played for the Ottawa Senators, he would already have been named to this year's NHL all-star game. With the event taking place in the nation's capital, the Senators had four players voted on to the team as fans in Ottawa stuffed the ballot. Eberle has more points this season than each of the Senators selected to take part in the game as starters. Yet, he'll have to wait for the rest of team to be chosen by the league to see if he's made the cut. "That would honestly be an honour," said Eberle. "But I think right now, my focus is here and what's going on. "If that time came, and I actually was asked, I would change my mindset a little bit. It's a good event." It would be a"
