John Carlson News & Rumors

John Carlson discusses his season-ending injury
"John Carlson didn't opt for season-ending surgery on his own. His shoulder had something to say about it. "Initially, we thought with a few weeks, I would be able to strengthen it and play like normal," Carlson said. "As we went along that process, it didn't come along like we wanted it to so the decision was kind of made by my shoulder. It kind of resolved itself by not coming along as far as we wanted it to." So Carlson will undergo shoulder surgery repair an injured labrum and miss this season. Coach Pete Carroll disclosed the plans for surgery on Tuesday, but Carlson wasn't available to comment until Wednesday."
John Carlson speaks about his shoulder injury, plus other notes
"John Carlson didn't know back on Aug. 13, two days after the Seahawks' preseason opener, that the shoulder injury he sustained in that day's practice would cause him to miss the season. It came on a simple 1-on-1 play, Carlson said Wednesday, when he dove to catch a ball. "I think the initial injury was there," Carlson said, "and then later in practice I aggravated it blocking." Turns out he has a torn labrum in his shoulder, which coach Pete Carroll said on Tuesday will require season-ending surgery. Carlson said he's particularly disappointed because of how hard he worked in the offseason. "I felt like I had a great offseason of training," Carlson said. "Our offseasons are normally"
Seahawks' John Carlson needs shoulder surgery, likely out for the season
"John Carlson caught more passes in his first two years as a Seahawk than any other tight end in franchise history. Now he can't catch a break. Carlson is out for the year because of a shoulder injury, coach Pete Carroll said after Seattle's practice Tuesday. He must undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum and is likely headed to injured reserve. "We're certainly going to miss John," Carroll said. "We were really counting on him having a fantastic year for us, and that's a big loss for us." But not as big of a loss as it would have been had they not signed Zach Miller as an unrestricted free agent from the Raiders in the first week of August."
Seahawks TE John Carlson needs surgery, will miss season
"Pete Carroll said Tuesday that Seattle Seahawks tight end John Carlson has a torn labrum in his shoulder that will require season-ending surgery. Carlson played in the team's first preseason game at San Diego, but suffered what Carroll termed at the time as a "little labrum issue" during practice the next week and has been limited to a spectator role since. That "little labrum issue" is actually a tear, and it means the Seahawks' tight end depth has taken a major hit. The Zach Miller signing looks perhaps even better today than it did when it happened."
Carroll: Trufant, Carlson suffered serious concussions, will stay in local hospital overnight
"Although Seattle laid an egg today in the NFC divisional battle against Chicago, Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was pleased overall with how his team came together at the end of the season, and believes the Seahawks have set a solid foundation to build upon for next season. "It took a long time," Carroll said. "It took a whole season and an offseason of work to get to this point, where these guys are this strongly committed to what we're doing. And they fight, and they compete, and they do the things that we want this team to do. "To me, it's most disappointing because it's so hard to get here. And it's not automatic that we're going to get here again to get this far along. But"
Loss makes it clear: Seahawks still have a long way to go
"When he first arrived in Seattle last winter, new Seahawks coach Pete Carroll sent a letter to his players ordering them to "Own the West." Considering the NFC West's state of disrepair, it was a modest goal but one the Hawks, who had won just nine games total the previous two seasons, accomplished. And winning the West made them believe they could win even more. They came this close to something wondrous. But reality hit them Sunday with all the force of a Midwestern snowstorm. This 35-24 loss to the Chicago Bears in the NFC divisional playoffs felt more like the truth than last week's Qwest Field fantasy win over the New Orleans Saints. All of the warts that were obvious in all of the"
