Jamie Benn News & Rumors

Flames survive bout of Benn's brilliance
"It seemed like Jamie Benn was going to take care of the Calgary Flames all by himself Monday night. Again. A goal 26 seconds after puck drop on his first shift of the game. A goal 44 seconds into the second period, again on his first shift. But when the Dallas Stars really needed another one of those first-minute strikes in the third period, his team down 5-3, the slick 22-year-old left-winger came up empty."

When they finished, Steve Ott of the Stars took on Raffi Torres, and Trevor Daley locked up with Phoenix' Rostislav Klesla."

"Jamie Benn (leg) and Sheldon Souray (foot) both skated on Monday morning in Frisco, but are not expected to play Tuesday at Montreal. Both are on the two-game road trip and might be ready to play by Thursday at Chicago. "Chicago is realistic," Stars coach Glen Gulutzan said of Souray. "I think that's what we'll be looking at.""

"It was a quiet debut for Stars center Jamie Benn in the NHL All-Star Game. While Benn was a member of Team Chara, which took a 12-9 win over Team Alfredsson on Sunday, he finished with no shots in 14:02 of ice time. Benn was on a line with Patrick Kane of Chicago and Jordan Eberle of Edmonton, and the line scored one goal but Benn was not involved. He finished minus-1 on the day, but said he had a great time. "It was a great experience," he said. "It was something I'll never forget.""

Read eliminated fellow rookie Cody Hodgson when he hit all four targets in an impressive 14.011 seconds. "We've had discussions, but there won't be any more discussion, I don't thnk,'' Nieuwendyk said, ``His is a different situation because he's still entry level and doesn't have rights that maybe Alex has. Dallas Stars Benn, Ribeiro likely out until after All-Star Weekend
"Dallas Stars forward Jamie Benn, the team's scoring leader with 42 points, underwent an appendectomy on Sunday afternoon, the Stars reported on their website.
