Grady Sizemore News & Rumors

Sorry ladies ... Grady Sizemore is engaged
"The Indians quickly removed center fielder Grady Sizemore from the free-agent market by signing him to a one-year contract in November. Sizemore has since removed himself from another open market by proposing to girlfriend Brittany Binger on Christmas. A date for the wedding has not been announced. No word if Grady's Ladies, one of Sizemore's fan clubs, will wear black in the upcoming season. Binger, from Bellevue, Ohio, announced the engagement on her Twitter account. The former Playboy Playmate in June of 2007 Tweeted a picture of her engagement ring."
Cleveland Indians sign Grady Sizemore to 1-year, $5 million deal
"Grady Sizemore wasn't ready to say goodbye. Now the Indians will see how much weight his return carries. The Indians and Sizemore came to terms Wednesday on a one-year, $5 million deal after making him a free agent on Oct. 31 when they declined his $9 million club option for 2012. The new deal includes $4 million in incentives based on plate appearances and a $500,000 bonus if he's named comeback player of the year. The currency of Sizemore's return will be measured in games played. He's appeared in just 210 over the last three years because of five operations, the most serious involving microfracture surgery on his left knee in 2010 and arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Oct. 3."
Sizemore returns to Indians on one-year deal
"The thought of Grady Sizemore returning to full strength and once again performing at an elite level -- but doing so in another uniform -- was not something the Indians were ready to imagine. Sizemore is officially staying put. On Wednesday, the Indians announced that they re-signed Sizemore to a one-year contract, giving the oft-injured center fielder another chance to be the stellar talent Cleveland has seen in the past. If there is any chance of him being that player again, the Tribe wanted to be the team reaping the rewards."
Sound off: Sizemore with the Phillies?
"Apparently the Phillies had some interest in former Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore. Sizemore, 29, is a three time all-star (2006-08) with two Gold Gloves (2007-08) and a Silver Slugger award (2008). The centerfielders' $9 million option was declined by Cleveland, making him a free agent for the first time in his career. Sizemore has been injury riddled over the past couple seasons, suffering from persistent keen problems."
Indians close to one-year deal with Sizemore
"Even after allowing Grady Sizemore to enter the free-agent pool, the Indians insisted that they maintained interest in keeping the center fielder in the fold. Now a deal between the two sides appears close to fruition. On Friday night, multiple reports indicated that the Indians and Sizemore are in serious negotiations on a one-year contract. General manager Chris Antonetti declined to comment on any ongoing talks. "I will refrain from specifically commenting on any speculation," Antonetti wrote in an e-mail to MLB.com. "But we remain interested in keeping Grady in an Indians' uniform and have expressed that sentiment to Grady and his representatives.""
Indians close to deal to bring back Sizemore
"The Indians appeared to be close to re-signing Grady Sizemore on Friday night after declining to exercise his $9 million option for 2012 and instead opting to pay a $500,000 buyout. According to at least two media outlets, including ESPN and Fox Sports, the Tribe and the 29-year-old outfielder were about to agree on a one-year deal for a relatively small guarantee plus incentives that if met would come close to equaling the value of the option. Though it has not been spelled out anywhere, the incentives would be based on Sizemore's ability to stay off the disabled list and include bonuses for games played or at-bats. Sizemore missed much of last season with a bone bruise in his right knee"
Multiple MLB teams showing interest in Grady Sizemore
"The interest is there, even though Grady Sizemore is still under wraps. Agent Joe Urbon says several teams have contacted him about the former Indians center fielder, who is completing his recovery from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. Sizemore had the surgery Oct. 3 and will be re-examined by Dr. Richard Steadman in Vail, Colo., in two weeks. "He's on schedule with his rehab," said Urbon. In an off-season in which the free-agent outfield class is average, and the trade prospects for landing a productive outfielder slim, Sizemore has became an attractive gamble for teams who remember the player he used to be before injuries hobbled him."
Report: Rangers interested in free agent OF Grady Sizemore
"Free agent outfielder Grady Sizemore has gained a decent amount of interest over the last few days, and the Rangers appear to be one of the teams considering his services. According to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick , the Rangers, Cubs, Giants and Yankees are the latest teams to be intrigued by the 29-year-old left-handed hitter. "He's 29, will be a year off microfracture surgery and primed to come back," Yahoo! MLB writer Jeff Passan wrote about Sizemore earlier this month. "Whether it's a one-year, make-good deal or a multiyear, under-market package, the team that strikes on Sizemore – and moves him to left field – will be happy it did.""
Rockies one of many teams chasing Sizemore
"The Rockies are among the teams gathering medical information on outfielder Grady Sizemore, a three-time All-Star with the Indians before he was slowed by injuries. Sizemore, 29, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Oct. 3 to promote healing from a bone bruise that he attempted to play through during the season. Sizemore also underwent microfracture surgery on his left knee after the 2009 season. Sizemore's agent, Joe Urbon, said Tuesday that the prognosis is good. "Grady is on schedule to be ready at the start of Spring Training," Urbon said. "He has been working out every day since his Oct. 3 arthroscopy and will be ready to be in the Opening Day lineup next season.""
Rockies show an interest in Sizemore
"The Rockies continue to cast a wide net as they attempt to ramp up their offense, expressing interest in free-agent outfielder Grady Sizemore. Sizemore, who has spent his entire career with the Indians, is one of the most intriguing names on the market, a high- risk, high-reward player because of his injury history. Looking to improve their lineup, the Rockies recently initiated trade talks with Atlanta regarding second baseman Martin Prado?. Colorado isn't expected to move forward aggressively on Sizemore until exhausting its options on Prado. Atlanta is seeking outfield help, and has interest in the Rockies' Seth Smith?. Moving him could create a spot for the left-handed hitting"
Grady Sizemore's departure can't erase the impact of Cleveland Indians' 2002 Bartolo Colon trade
"It was the kind of trade that makes general managers famous and puts World Series banners on the top of their ballparks. On June 27, 2002, Mark Shapiro, then the general manager of the Indians, sent Bartolo Colon to the desperate Montreal Expos for Brandon Phillips, Cliff Lee and Grady Sizemore. The Indians threw in Tim Drew, a failed No. 1 pick, and took back veteran Lee Stevens to balance what was left of Colon's $4.5 million contract. The immediate reaction in Cleveland was negative -- extremely so. Phillips, Lee and Sizemore were prospects. Phillips, 20, was the most experienced with just 37 games at Class AAA. Lee, 23, was 7-2 at Class AA. Sizemore, a high-school quarterback who"
Indians couldn't afford to get emotional on Sizemore decision
"A sound business decision on a professional athlete with whom fans have a deep emotional connection might never be a particularly graceful parting. Especially when the player used to be the face of the franchise. Especially when he once displayed amazing physical gifts. Especially when he represented hope for a long-elusive championship. But if this is the end with the Indians and Grady Sizemore, this is about as graceful as it gets. Indians General Manager Chris Antonetti said he didn't feel like he was saying good-bye Thursday when he flew to Arizona to tell the 29-year-old center fielder face-to-face that they would not be picking up his $9 million option for 2012. When the news became"
Sizemore's intensity shortened career in Cleveland
"Much of the fan mail to players on the last Indians team to reach the playoffs went to the one who was hardest to reach. Grady Sizemore's locker at Progressive Field was in front of a huge pillar. Baskets of bubble gum, sunflower seeds, and, back in the day, chewing tobacco, were perched on the top of a large counter next to the pillar. The fan letters went there. That mail will be delivered to a different address as of Monday, when the Indians declined to exercise their option on the injury-plagued outfielder's contract. What will remain are memories of a proud, private man who always gave his best and who, by so doing, was not built to last. To speak to Sizemore in the Indians"
Grady Sizemore will give the Nationals another centerfield option in free agency
"The largest obstacle for the Nationals in their mission to land a centerfielder this offseason was a dearth of options. Coco Crisp seemed to be the only viable free agent, and while he's a capable player, Crisp's addition wouldn't have added the impact General Manager Mike Rizzo wants. Others – such as B.J. Upton and Denard Span – could be had in a trade, but both come with questions, and this year's deadline showed the difficulty of securing a deal."
Grady Sizemore may be right fit in Boston
"The Red Sox are looking for a right fielder to replace J.D. Drew. Yesterday, Grady Sizemore became an intriguing option that the Sox are expected to explore, according to a team source. The highly talented but oft-injured Sizemore has played his entire career as a center fielder for the Cleveland Indians, but to re-establish his Gold Glove (two) and Silver Slugger (one) credentials, he is willing to move to a corner outfield spot on a new team if the fit is right, his agent said."
Indians decline option on Grady Sizemore, keep Fausto Carmona
"The Indians announced this morning that they declined the option on center fielder Grady Sizemore but picked up the option on right-hander Fausto Carmona. Carmona has made at least 32 starts and logged more than 188 innings each of the past two seasons. He was 7-15 with a 5.25 ERA in 32 starts this season. He is signed through the 2012 season with club options for 2013 and 2014."
Indians will wait until Monday for decision on Grady Sizemore, Fausto Carmona
"The Indians are expected to make a decision Monday on whether they'll exercise the 2012 club options on center fielder Grady Sizemore and right-hander Fausto Carmona. GM Chris Antonetti said he'd most likely wait until the deadline to make the call and it looks like that's what he'll do. A decision on all big-league club options must be made three days after the final game of the World Series, which was Friday. The Indians hold a $9 million option on Sizemore and a $7 million option on Carmona. Sizemore, 29, can become a free agent if the option is declined. Carmona would still be under team control if the option is declined because he doesn't have six years in service time."
Indians likely to decline Sizemore's option
"Grady Sizemore pulled a pitch into right field at Progressive Field, where the ball bounced through the grass for a run-scoring hit. That seventh-inning single on Sept. 22 could go down as the center fielder's final act as a member of the Indians. Barring a restructuring of Sizemore's contract, Cleveland appears on the verge of cutting ties with a player once considered the face of the franchise. It is expected that the Indians will decline the center fielder's club option for next season prior to Monday's deadline for a decision. The Indians have not made anything official, but it is expected that the organization will also exercise Fausto Carmona's $7 million club option for 2012."
Indians should take time to think before re-signing Grady Sizemore
"Pretend that Grady Sizemore never spent his career with the Indians, that his career had been spent with the Kansas City Royals. Sizemore is now 29, and a free agent. You are the frugal Tribe with $9 million of an estimated $70 million budget to spend on Sizemore. You already have $13 million committed to Travis Hafner, a player with his own history of injuries. You are expected to gamble $7 million more on Fausto Carmona because you need starting pitchers. Carmona is inconsistent on the mound, but durable in terms of making nearly all of his starts. That's $20 million on two players whose performance for 2012 is hard to project. Do you invest another $9 million in Sizemore, who has missed"
It's decision time for the Cleveland Indians on Grady Sizemore and Fausto Carmona
"The Indians are holding strategy meetings this week to decide if they'll exercise the 2012 contract options on Grady Sizemore and Fausto Carmona. Sizemore is the more pressing of the two decisions. Not only in terms of the size of the $9 million option, but because he'll be eligible for free agency if the option isn't picked up. Carmona's option is worth $7 million. If the Indians don't exercise it, he's still under their control because he has only five full seasons in the big leagues. A player needs six years to be eligible for free agency. The deadline for exercising the options is three days after the final game of the World Series. The series could end Wednesday if Texas beats St."
Cleveland Indians won't rush a decision on Grady Sizemore's 2012 contract option
"The Indians are going to take as long as possible to make a decision on Grady Sizemore's 2012 club option. GM Chris Antonetti said he won't make the call until at or near the required deadline. Teams have until three days after the final game of the World Series to exercise club options for 2012. Sizemore, the former All-Star/Gold Glove center fielder, underwent his fifth surgery in the last three years on Oct. 3 when his right knee was operated on because of a lingering bone bruise. Other teams are not taking as long to make similar decisions. Last week, the Dodgers declined options on Casey Blake and Jon Garland, who were injured for much of this year."
Indians' Grady Sizemore has surgery on right knee
"Grady Sizemore's trip to Colorado for a checkup culminated in surgery on Monday. Now the Indians must decide whether it's to their advantage to exercise the $9 million option in Sizemore's contract. Dr. Richard Steadman performed an arthroscopic procedure in Vail to speed the healing process of the nagging bone bruise in Sizemore's right knee that cost him most of the 2011 season. Recovery from the operation is expected to be six to eight weeks, which means Sizemore should be completely healthy for spring training in February."
Travis Hafner will return, but status of Grady Sizemore, Fausto Carmona unsettled
"Three days after the final game of the World Series, the Indians must decide whether to exercise the 2012 club options of Grady Sizemore for $9 million and Fausto Carmona for $7 million. If they don't, Sizemore is eligible for free agency and Carmona for salary arbitration. The Indians don't have an option on Travis Hafner for 2012, but they do have a decision to make. They could bring him back next year to honor the final year of his contract for $13 million, or they could cut the cord on the biggest deal in Indians history and start over at DH. On Thursday, GM Chris Antonetti said Hafner would be back, despite making two trips to the disabled list this year and not playing more than"
Sizemore returns to doctor with soreness in his right knee
"Apparently, no specific new malady is suspected, but Grady Sizemore is returning to the doctor for the umpteenth time this season. ''Grady was still experiencing some right knee symptoms when he came back from [sports] hernia surgery,'' Indians head trainer Lonnie Soloff said Tuesday. ''He is scheduled for a follow-up visit with Dr. [Richard] Steadman in Vail [Colo.]. We want to determine the best course of action for him in the offseason.'' Sizemore has incurred two disabling injuries this year. He suffered a deep bone bruise in his right knee sliding into a base May 10 and was placed on the disabled list for two weeks on May 16."
Grady Sizemore's troublesome right knee scheduled for examination next week
"Grady Sizemore will have his right knee examined Monday by Dr. Richard Steadman in Vail, Colo. Steadman performed microfracture surgery on Sizemore's left knee last year, limiting him to 33 games. Sizemore played his last game this season Thursday. He's had pain in his right knee since coming off the disabled list Sept. 5 for the third time this year. "We want to see further guidance from Dr. Steadman for the best course of action for Grady moving into the off-season," said Indians head trainer Lonnie Soloff. When asked if Sizemore was facing microfracture surgery on his right knee, Soloff said he was hopeful that wasn't the case."
Grady Sizemore gets a head start; Tigers smash Tribe; the best hitter in the AL plays for the Tribe
"The Cleveland Indians are playing their final series of the season (against the Detroit Tigers) but the season has ended for Grady Sizemore. He didn't travel with the Indians to Detroit. Sizemore will begin his offseason season training in preparation for next season."
Down and out for the third time, Grady Sizemore's season is over with ailing knee
"Grady Sizemore's last at-bat of the season ended with an RBI single in the seventh inning Thursday in an 11-2 victory over Chicago. It could have been his last at-bat as an Indian. Sizemore has been shut down because of pain in his right knee, the same one that put him on the disabled list earlier this season. "There's no need for Grady to play," said manager Manny Acta. "The knee is not 100 percent. It's still an issue for him.""
Cleveland Indians could get Grady Sizemore, Jason Kipnis back this week
"Indians manager Manny Acta expects Grady Sizemore and Jason Kipnis will come off the disabled list sometime this week. Sizemore played center field and went 1-for-5 Saturday night in a rehab start with Class AAA Columbus. He rested Sunday, and it would not be a shock if he joined the Indians today as they open an important three-game series against the Tigers at Progressive Field. While Sizemore has been out since July 18 with a bruised right knee and the aftereffects of hernia surgery, Kipnis has been on the disabled list only since Aug. 19 with a strained right hamstring and right oblique muscle. He was eligible to be activated Aug. 29. "At some point this week, we hope to add both of"
Indians notebook: Grady Sizemore gets a lot of work on rehab assignment
"The reports on Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore, who is rehabbing from a right knee contusion and sports hernia, were positive after his second rehab outing at Double-A Akron. Sizemore shook off the rust after going hitless in his first game with the Aeros on Wednesday to go 3-for-3 Thursday. "I just wanted to get the reps; I'm not really worried about results," Sizemore said afterward. "It's just getting out there and seeing how it feels in the field and at the plate. ... Obviously, I'm taking it easy early here. I'll continue to work on that and take it slow and gamble a little more each day." But Sizemore's offensive production wasn't the only thing about the outing that caught"
Sizemore to start rehab stint in Akron
"Sizemore will begin rehab stint in Akron CLEVELAND: Grady Sizemore will be back on the field tonight, when he steps into the Double-A Akron lineup at designated hitter. "If he gets his final clearance, he will DH tomorrow night, then play center field for six innings the next day,'' Indians manager Manny Acta said. Acta did not know how long Sizemore's rehab assignment would last, but the Aeros' regular season ends Monday. It's unlikely that Akron will qualify for the Eastern League playoffs, but Triple-A Columbus will make the postseason in the International League, and Sizemore can continue playing games with the Clippers, if necessary. Sizemore has been on the disabled list since July"
Sizemore will begin rehab stint on Wednesday
"Sidelined center fielder Grady Sizemore predicted that he would begin a Minor League rehab assignment by the end of this week. On Sunday, Indians head athletic trainer Lonnie Soloff said such a prognostication was not inconceivable. It has become a certainty. On Tuesday, it was revealed that Sizemore will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Akron on Wednesday, when he'll serve as the Aeros' designated hitter. He will man center field for six innings on Thursday and will be reevaluated on a daily basis after that."
Shin-Soo Choo's return not far off, but Grady Sizemore's status is hazy
"Manny Acta said outfielder Shin-Soo Choo might be back in a week. Choo, recovering from a broken left thumb, started his rehabilitation assignment at Class A Lake County on Monday. "Assuming everything works out well, and [Choo] feels comfortable, I would say he'd need a week of rehab games," said Acta. "Still, we're going to have to evaluate it every day. He has to feel comfortable." Choo was in Lake County's lineup at DH on Monday and had Tuesday off. "Eventually, he'll move up the ladder [Class AA Akron, Class AAA Columbus] so he can face better pitching," said Acta. Choo's last game with the Tribe was June 24, when San Francisco's Jonathan Sanchez hit him with a pitch. The story is"
Tribe's latest problem is what to do with Sizemore
"The Indians have a problem. Yeah, yeah, I know. What else is new? At issue is Grady Sizemore and what to do with him. Not now, not in 2011. Most of this season has been taken care of by doctors and trainers, as well as strength and conditioning coaches trying to keep him on the field. So far, it hasn't worked. Sizemore will miss at least four to six more weeks after undergoing surgery on Thursday for a sports hernia. He already was on the disabled list for the second time this year with a right knee contusion (a bone bruise, which can linger for months). He began the season 2› weeks late, because he needed time to recover from 2010 microfracture surgery on his left knee, a"
Sizemore has surgery for sports hernia, out 4 to 6 weeks
"The Indians probably have lost two-thirds of their starting outfield until early September, if not longer. Grady Sizemore underwent surgery Thursday — not on his right knee, which ostensibly has been the problem — but for a sports hernia. Dr. William Meyers performed a 20-minute procedure in Philadelphia to repair a hernia that developed after Sizemore slid into second base May 11 and also banged up his right knee. Head trainer Lonnie Soloff said the club has known about the hernia all along. "During the event in May, Grady complained about right-hip (sports hernia) and right-knee pain," he said. "We knew it [sports hernia] would have to be addressed in the offseason. But he thought he"
Indians' Sizemore out 4-6 weeks after hernia surgery
"Grady Sizemore believes he can still help the Cleveland Indians this season after having abdominal surgery. The three-time all-star outfielder had a 20-minute hernia operation performed Thursday in Philadelphia by Dr. William Meyers. Sizemore went on the disabled list Monday after tweaking his right knee while running out a double in Baltimore on Sunday. It aggravated a bone bruise in the knee sustained while sliding into second base on May 10. He also sustained the abdominal problem on that play two months ago and went on the disabled list. When the knee progressed, the 28-year-old decided to return to the lineup and tried to play through the abdominal discomfort. "The injury, which"
Cleveland Indians' Grady Sizemore has sports hernia surgery, out 4-6 weeks
"The injuries just keep coming for Grady Sizemore. Placed on the disabled list Monday with a bruised right knee, Sizemore had surgery for a sports hernia Thursday. The Indians looked at this as a two-for-the-price-of-one arrangement. Sizemore was expected to be on the disabled list for four to six weeks to let his knee heal. With that much downtime, they decided he might as well have the hernia corrected as well. The latest injury to the two-time Gold Glove-winning center fielder was a double whammy as well. It happened when Sizemore slid hard into second base on May 10 against Tampa Bay at Progressive Field. Sizemore suffered a bruised right knee and jammed right hip, which led to the"
Grady Sizemore has surgery for sports hernia, out 4-6 weeks
"Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore underwent abdominal surgery in Philadelphia, Pa., on Thursday. The 20-minute procedure to address a sports hernia was performed by Dr. William Meyers. Recovery from this procedure is 4-to-6 weeks."
Grady Sizemore has successful abdominal surgery today
"Cleveland Indians OF Grady Sizemore today underwent abdominal surgery in Philadelphia. The 20-minute procedure to address a sports hernia was performed by Dr. William Meyers. Recovery from this procedure is 4-to-6 weeks. Grady Sizemore: "The injury which resulted in today's surgery has been bothering me since the slide in May. Knowing the two areas are related and also learning my knee condition is not serious gives me peace of mind going forward that I can finish the season healthy and help contribute to an exciting pennant chase.""
Grady Sizemore gets brighter injury prognosis
"Clubhouse confidential: The chances are good that the Indians will exercise center fielder Grady Sizemore's $9 million club option for 2012, even though he's on the disabled list for the third time this season with knee problems. The Indians still feel Sizemore, 28, is a good player even when he's not at 100 percent and a great player when healthy. Sizemore returned to Cleveland on Monday to have an MRI on his right knee. He was anticipating the worst, but the initial report from the Indians is that the bone bruise was not the same kind of injury that caused him to have microfracture surgery on his left knee last season."
Sizemore's injury hurts team
"How long will Grady Sizemore be out of the Indians' lineup this time? So far, his injury is still being described as the same bone bruise of the right knee that put him on the disabled list from May 12 to May 27. But Sizemore was sent back to Cleveland on Monday for further evaluation after he was placed on the 15-day DL again. The Tribe lineup is painfully thin without Sizemore and Shin-Soo Choo, who probably will remain on the DL until early September with a broken thumb. "Grady plays through pain all the time," manager Manny Acta said. "He's done that the last three years pretty much. It's very hard for him not to be out there with his teammates, and it's hard for us, too." Sizemore"
Tribe's Chris Antonetti says Grady Sizemore's injury doesn't change plans
"Grady Sizemore returned to Cleveland on Monday on the disabled list for the third time this season and expecting the worst in terms of the injury to his right knee. GM Chris Antonetti said the loss of Sizemore will not increase the urgency he feels to try and make a deal to improve the Indians' offense. "It's really no different," said Antonetti. "We continue to explore ways to improve the team. We're exploring all means possible. There's only so much you can do. "It takes two parties to make a trade. You have to agree on the value of the players involved and align in the timing regarding such a deal." The deadline for making a deal without waivers is July 31. Trades can still be made"
Indians place Grady Sizemore on disabled list, recall David Huff
"The Indians put center fielder Grady Sizmore on the 15-day disabled list with a right knee contusion this morning. That move opened a spot on the roster for left-hander David Huff, who will start Game 1 of the doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins this afternoon."
Indians put Sizemore back on DL
"Grady Sizemore is back on the disabled list. Sizemore, who missed most of the last two seasons with various injuries, is now out with a right knee contusion. It's his third DL trip this year alone, and the second time he's been out with a right knee problem. Sizemore missed all of last year after surgery on his left knee. The Indians have been one of baseball's biggest surprises, and they finished the weekend percentage points ahead of the Tigers, atop the American League Central."
Sizemore suffers knee contusion
"For the second time in two months, Grady Sizemore might miss time with a knee contusion. He was running out a double in the first inning when he apparently reinjured the knee rounding first base. He continued to second (and was struck with the relay). After testing the knee, Sizemore came out of the game. "It's a right knee contusion, the same knee as before," manager Manny Acta said. "It's not the surgically repaired knee." . Sizemore was placed on the disabled list May 16 (retroactive to May 11) with a bruised right knee and did not return to the lineup until May 27. He accompanied the team to Minnesota, where he will be examined by an orthopedist. Depending on the results of that exam,"
Grady Sizemore injured, Cleveland Indians lead Orioles, 3-1, after 3 innings
"Center fielder Grady Sizemore left Sunday's game in the first inning with an apparent leg injury as the Indians built a 3-1 lead over the Orioles at Camden Yards after three innings. Following consecutive homers by Travis Hafner and Carlos Santana off rookie right-hander Mitch Atkins, Sizemore blooped a hit into short left field. As he was rounding first, he pulled up not once, but twice before reaching second with a head-first slide for a double. During his slide, Sizemore was hit by left fielder Matt Angle's throw to second. Sizemore came up limping as manager Manny Acta and trainer Rick Jameyson came out to check on him. After jogging for a bit in center field, Sizemore walked to the"
Grady Sizemore injures right knee in loss to Indians
"The Indians left Baltimore with a split in their four-game series with the Orioles. It was not something to rejoice over. Not only did they lose to the Orioles, 8-3, Sunday, but center fielder Grady Sizemore left the game in the first inning with a bruised right knee. An injury to the same knee in May put him on the disabled list. Sizemore will accompany the team to Minneapolis, where they play the Twins in a day-night doubleheader on Monday. He'll be examined in Minneapolis and would return to Cleveland if more tests are needed. The Orioles are struggling, to put it mildly. When the Indians started the series by winning the first two games, they ran Baltimore's losing streak to a"
Grady Sizemore injures right knee
"Center fielder Grady Sizemore left Sunday's game in the first inning with a bruised right knee as the Indians built a 3-1 lead over the Orioles at Camden Yards after three innings. Sizemore's knee still needs rest
"Grady Sizemore still doesn't like to sit out a game, but his surgically repaired knee dictates that manager Manny Acta give him periodic days off. Consequently, Sizemore was not the Indians' center fielder Saturday night against the Orioles, even though he seems to be emerging from a lengthy slump. "It's tough,'' Acta said, referring to Sizemore's absence from the lineup just when he is starting to hit again. "But if we want to get to the promised land, we have to do it. You get in trouble when you forget that you just can't throw him in there every day.'' Sizemore understands the situation, but he doesn't have to like it. "Am I comfortable with it? No,'' he said. "But I understand that I"
Grady Sizemore's whiffs are an expensive scent for Cleveland Indians
"Lemons at new-car prices? What a deal. Everyone keeps asking when the Dolans will spend money. They apparently mean besides the money spent on Travis Hafner, Grady Sizemore and Fausto Carmona. Maybe never, but certainly not until they lose the ball and chain that accounts for $27 million of a sub-$50 million payroll. That the Indians are even contending for the division title approaching July 4 is both a product of a struggling division and fairly remarkable when you consider the current return on their investment in such crucial roster spots. At least the Dolans haven't blamed certain underachieving players the way New York Mets ownership did earlier this year, the way the Steinbrenner"
