Glenn Dorsey News

Dorsey has to be content with less gaudy numbers
"Glenn Dorsey didn't want to watch himself anymore. He was reviewing the film from his first game, sure, but did he really have to relive this in front of everyone? Dorsey, the Chiefs' top draft pick, had no sacks, no tackles and no hurries. No nothing. And that was nothing he wanted to watch. "It was OK," he said this week, shaking his head. "It wasn't - I'm not happy with it. I look back on film and see plays I should've made, and I just didn't get there." Dorsey said his first regular-season NFL game might have come at him a little faster than he'd been expecting. He'd been going hard in practice and the preseason games, but this was for real - and it didn't slow down for anyone, even ..."
Dorsey likely to miss Arizona game
"Rookie defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey said Sunday that he isn't expecting to return from his left knee injury in time to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals. Dorsey suffered a knee sprain Aug. 2 and returned to practice Saturday, albeit in a limited role. Coach Herm Edwards said Dorsey, the Chiefs' top draft pick, remains day-to-day but did participate in individual and position drills Sunday. "It never really was a very serious injury," Dorsey said. "I just needed to take some time while it healed." Dorsey said he expected to return to team practices in the next couple of days. The Chiefs break camp Friday and resume one-a-day practices in Kansas City next week. ..."
Dorsey's knee injury not as bad as Chiefs feared
"Glenn Dorsey's knee injury isn't as bad as the Chiefs initially feared. Dorsey, the team's top draft pick, has a mild sprain of the left knee and won't play in Thursday's preseason opener against the Bears in Chicago. But coach Herm Edwards said he is hopeful Dorsey could play in the following game against Arizona on Aug. 16 at Arrowhead Stadium. Dorsey was injured when some players fell on his leg during a play in Saturday night's Family Fun Night practice. Edwards said Dorsey, who was on the ground with his leg in a prone position, avoided more serious damage by moving the leg before the weight of the pile crashed down. Even if Dorsey does not play against the Cardinals, Edwards ..."
Chiefs' top pick Dorsey hurts knee
"Rookie defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey, the Chiefs' top draft pick and the centerpiece of their rebuilding effort, injured his left knee during the annual Family Fun Night practice Saturday. Coach Herm Edwards described the injury as a sprain "He's probably going to be week to week,'' Edwards said. "They won't know until they do all of the MRIs and all of that. They'll find out what's going on. But I don't think it's serious.'' Offensive tackle Branden Albert, the Chiefs' other first-round pick, sprained his foot during Thursday night's joint practice against the Minnesota Vikings. The Chiefs don't expect Albert to return to practice before training camp breaks in the middle of August. ..."
Chiefs hope money doesn’t go to Dorsey’s head
"Man, we love to beat up the Hunts and Carl Peterson for their frugality, but you have to feel for them today. Their reward for a 4-12 season was the right toan unproven player at the top of the draft and give him more than enough money to kill his eye of the Tiger. Congratulations, Glenn Dorsey. If you handle your money properly, you will live a fantastic life for the next 50 years, thanks to the potential you displayed at Louisiana State University. The Chiefs have no such guarantees. In fact, they're likely to spend the next two years holding their breath, praying that Dorsey is a solid NFL player and somewhat worthy of a $50 million contract that includes at least 20 million guaranteed ..."
Chiefs sign top draft pick Dorsey
"The dark-blue SUV pulled into the fire lane and stopped. It was dark inside. A swarm of photographers crowded the Ford near the sidewalk, and a figure inside pointed to the man in the left side of the backseat. Three months after the Chiefs made Glenn Dorsey their top draft pick, word leaked Saturday that the star defensive tackle at LSU had arrived. Then the doors opened, and four Chiefs players got out. "Hey," said the voice from the left side of the backseat. "You've got the wrong guy." It was second-year defensive tackle Tank Tyler in that SUV. The wait for Dorsey wasn't over yet. Tyler and his teammates laughed and walked inside for a quick bite and a nap before a defensive-line ..."
Chiefs, first-round pick Dorsey agree to 5-year, $51M deal
"Glenn Dorsey walked up and shook hands with the man who'd just made him rich. "I promise I'll work hard," said the big defensive tackle, towering over Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt. "I know you will," Hunt said. "It's great to have you with us." After a brief contract holdout that essentially cost him only one practice, Dorsey signed a five-year, $51 million deal Saturday morning that includes an option year and more than $22 million in guaranteed money. The 300-pound All-American from LSU, the fifth player taken overall last April, will be the cornerstone of a line that's being rebuilt to make up for the loss of Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen. After getting word about 4:30 a.m. ..."
Chiefs sign top draft pick Glenn Dorsey
"The Chiefs and top draft pick Glenn Dorsey have agreed to contract terms, and the team expects him to arrive at training camp today. Dorsey's new contract is for six years but he can void the final season. Maximum value is $51 million. About $23 million of it is guaranteed. The fifth pick in the draft, the All-American from LSU will immediately step in as a starting defensive tackle. "He's excited. His bags were packed; he's ready to go," said Carl Peterson, Chiefs president. "He's anxious to get here. And he needs to be here. But he really hasn't missed a great deal. I think he'll fit in nicely.""
Practice exhausting, educational for Chiefs' Dorsey
"Dorsey admits these four weeks have been exhausting and educational. He says he is adjusting to his new role, the lifestyle and schedule of an NFL player, and the speed of the game that never has a minute to give. Coach Herm Edwards says Dorsey is about where he thought the former LSU star would be. He's still learning, Edwards says, but he has come along even since practice started last month. "He's been good. He's getting better," Edwards says. "He's starting to understand, really, what we want him to do.""
Agreement between Dorsey, Chiefs not imminent
"Three of this year's top four NFL draft picks are under contract now that Arkansas running back Darren McFadden has signed with the Oakland Raiders Don't look for the fifth pick, defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey of the Chiefs, to join them soon. President/general manager Carl Peterson said the Chiefs have been in contact with Dorsey's agent, Joel Segal. We've had conversations, and that's all I can say, Peterson said. But no agreement appeared imminent."
