Neither star defensive end Dwight Freeney nor starting cornerback Jerraud Powers attended the Indianapolis Colts' practice Wednesday for Super Bowl XLIV, according to a pool report from the Pro Football Writers Association. Freeney, who suffered a severe low ankle sprain against the visiting New York Jets in the AFC championship game Jan. 24, and Powers, who was scratched from that game with a foot injury, were not at the Miami Dolphins' facility where the Colts worked out. Three Indianapolis Colts players did not practice Thursday. They were defensive end Dwight Freeney (ankle), cornerback Jerraud Powers (foot), and guard Ryan Lilja (back). Freeney, a perennial All-Pro, has now not practiced since suffering a third degree low ankle sprain in the AFC championship game. His right ankle was wrapped in a tight black wrap/brace Thursday morning, and he said he did not expect he would be able to sprint or cut until Friday or Saturday."

Indianapolis Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney's ankle injury could force him to miss Super Bowl XLIV against the Saints, multiple media outlets reported Sunday. Freeney hurt his ankle in the fourth quarter of the AFC championship game. He ran past Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez, and his foot appeared to get caught on the turf of Lucas Oil Stadium. Freeney hopped a bit, but he jogged off the field without assistance.
