DeMarcus Ware News & Rumors

Anthony Spencer isn't DeMarcus Ware, but he can help the Cowboys
"Anthony Spencer can't avoid the comparisons. While Spencer, a first-round draft pick in 2007, has 21.5 sacks in his career, DeMarcus Ware has 80 in that same five-year span. No matter what Spencer does, even though he plays a different outside linebacker position, he always will be compared to Ware. "It's both a curse and a blessing," Spencer said of playing opposite Ware. "I wouldn't say it's a curse, but it has its benefits and its non-benefits being across from him, definitely.""
DeMarcus Ware: Defensive mistakes will be corrected; 'We're going to be rolling, I can tell you that'
"Cornerbacks Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr have been added in hopes of making one of the Cowboys' biggest weaknesses in 2011 one of their biggest strengths in 2012. Last season, the Cowboys finished 23rd in pass defense and recorded 15 interceptions, 16 teams finished with more. Claiborne and Carr, who are projected to be starters, will likely make opposing quarterbacks think twice about their decisions in the pocket. While that could result in an increase in interceptions it could also lead to more sacks. A quarterback waiting an extra second for a receiver to get open means an extra second for arguably the game's best pass rusher, DeMarcus Ware, to wreak havoc."
Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware named to Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers Association All-NFL Team
"The season may not have ended the way DeMarcus Ware had hoped. But the outside linebacker continues to be recognized as one of the elite pass rushers in the game. Ware was named to the Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers Association All-NFL Team after collecting 19.5 sacks this season, the second-highest total in the league this season."
Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware not worried about injury
"Linebacker DeMarcus Ware suffered a stinger against Arizona to open the month. Even though he finished that game and played against the New York Giants, he was clearly compromised. Ware aggravated the injury on the second play of Saturday night's game and didn't play at all in the second half. Of course, the Cowboys didn't need him to play since they were up 28-0. Head coach Jason Garrett spoke of managing Ware's injury going into next week's game with Philadelphia."
Cowboys' Demarcus Ware: NY Giants' Justin Tuck just jealous he doesn't play for America's team
"DeMarcus Ware has a simple theory about Justin Tuck. To the Dallas Cowboys' pass-rusher, Tuck is nothing more than a desperate wannabe. And every time Tuck trashes the Cowboys, every time he talks about how much he "hates" Dallas and how he thinks Cowboys Stadium is a dump, Ware feels a sense of pity for the struggling Giants defensive lineman. "He says that because maybe he wants to play here," Ware told reporters in Irving, Tex., on Wednesday. "Everybody wants to play for the Cowboys. If I wasn't playing for the Cowboys I would call it that, too, because I want to play for them.""
Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware (stinger) and TE Martellus Bennett (rib) injured against Arizona
"Cowboys outside linebacker and NFL sack leader DeMarcus Ware suffered a stinger late in the third quarter and missed one play before returning to the game. Ware was fine after the game. Ware recorded his 15th sack of the season against Arizona and has reached that plateau for the third time in his career, tying him for second in NFL history (behind only Reggie White, who accomplished it five seasons). It was also Ware's 95th career sack to pass Jim Jeffcoat (94.5) for the official club record."
Four sacks, but none from Ware
"The Cowboys collected four sacks against Matt Moore, but none came from the team's leader in that category. DeMarcus Ware, who came into the game with 14 sacks, appeared to have his 15th early in the fourth quarter, but the play was negated by an illegal contact penalty against Abram Elam. Victor Butler registered his third sack, tying a season high, and Kenyon Coleman had his first sack in five years. The other sacks came from Orlando Scandrick and Sean Lee."
Dolphins Marc Colombo must solve mystery of how to block DeMarcus Ware
"DeMarcus Ware is the premier pass rusher in the NFL, the crème de la crème of quarterback hunters, and has been for a few years now. The Dallas Cowboys Pro Bowler has become so dominant even the elites at his position enjoy watching him work. "The best rusher in the league right now," said Jason Taylor, the NFL's active sacks leader, who is one sack from tying John Randle and Richard Dent for sixth all-time with 137.5 in his career. "It's amazing watching [Ware] play." Marc Colombo is the resident weak link of the Dolphins' offensive line. The Dolphins have had to protect this Cowboys castoff most of the season, putting a tight end on the right side routinely, and often rolling protections"
Washington Redskins DE Stephen Bowen calls Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware 'a freak of nature'
"Washington Redskins defensive end Stephen Bowen said he has great respect for Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware, one of his good friends and his teammate the first five seasons of his NFL career. Why? "He's a freakish athlete. I've just never seen somebody pound for pound as strong as he is," Bowen said. "He's a very smart player. He studies a lot of film. He's good at attacking people's weaknesses. He is one of the best I've ever been around." Bowen said he and Ware became even closer this past off-season when the two trained together every day."
Cowboys' Ware looks to blindside the Bills
"Whoever starts at left tackle Sunday for the Buffalo Bills — the options are Andy Levitre and rookie Chris Hairston — will spend a considerable amount of time opposite quarterback agitator DeMarcus Ware. Indeed, Levitre and Hairston will receive their stiffest test yet trying to muzzle Ware when the Bills (5-3) visit the Dallas Cowboys (4-4) at Cowboys Stadium on Sunday. "It's an opportunity of a lifetime to be able and go out and compete against a guy who has shown his ability over a long period of time," Hairston said. "It will be good to go out there and say, 'I went against the best,' because that's what he's proven time and time again." Time and time again, Ware has proven to be"
Ware eyeing NFL and team records for sacks in a season
"Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware is on pace for a 27-sack season. That would break both the NFL and the team record for sacks. Giants defensive end Michael Strahan owns the NFL record with a 22.5-sack season in 2001. The Cowboys recognize Harvey Martin's 23 sacks in 1977 as their team record, though sacks didn't become an official statistic until 1982. "As a pass rusher, you're always aware of what [sack numbers] you have," Ware said Thursday. "But you just don't talk about it. You just go out there and keep working, and at the end of the season, you just hope you're where you need to be.""
Only two Cowboys have shot at ending up in Ring of Honor
"Sunday is a big day for Cowboys fans of yesteryear. A rather fruitless opponent - Seattle - will be overshadowed by the Cowboys' plans to officially add three more members to the team's hallowed Ring of Honor. Wide receiver Drew Pearson , defensive end/linebacker Charles Haley and offensive tackle Larry Allen will become the three newest ring members, upping the total to 20 (18 players plus Tom Landry and Tex Schramm). The Cowboys' Ring of Honor has exclusive membership. A player must be the best of the best to get in, which begs the question: How many current Cowboys could end up in the Ring of Honor? For me, that number is two. Tight end Jason Witten and outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware."
DeMarcus Ware has a career night
"It is a game DeMarcus Ware will want to forget, but it's going to be hard unless he has a five-sack night on a win. In a game where his defense was shredded both on the ground and in the air, the Cowboys outside linebacker set a personal record with four sacks. Ware was credited with a sack on the first play of the game, which originally went to safety Gerald Sensabaugh but was altered a few plays later."
LB DeMarcus Ware on Michael Vick: the Cowboys have to 'corral the rabbit'
"Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware said the Cowboys are in for a big challenge Sunday night in trying to bring down Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick. Ware said he won't change the way he plays because of the way Vick is able to escape pressure and turn nothing into big gains because of his speed and athleticism."
Cowboys-Eagles key matchup: Philadelphia QB Michael Vick vs. Dallas OLB DeMarcus Ware
"Michael Vick is a challenge for any team, but he could prove especially problematic for an aggressive defense. Under coordinator Rob Ryan, the Cowboys are more aggressive, which could allow Vick to run for big gains. Vick ranks 21st in the NFL in rushing (tops among non-RBs) with 372 yards on 45 carries. He's run an average of 7.5 times a game for 8.3 yards per carry, the best average among all NFL players with more than 16 attempts."
Tip of the hat to Cowboy
"Bill Belichick reserves high praise for a handful of players in the NFL, but when it comes to Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware, he didn't have a problem calling him the best player the Patriots will have seen this season. When asked if Ware could be compared to Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor, whom Belichick coached with the Giants, the coach said he can see the similarities. "Absolutely,'' Belichick said. "Lawrence Taylor, you're talking about a pretty high level, but Ware does all the things and he's the best player that we've faced this year. He does all the things you want him to do."
DeMarcus Ware's the triggerman for the Dallas defense
"Jim Schwartz thinks there might be a typo on the Cowboys two-deep roster. DeMarcus Ware is listed under JLB — which in defensive coordinator Rob Ryan's parlance means Jack linebacker. "What do they list him as, JLB?" Schwartz said. "What they need to do is list him as G-O-O-D." Truthfully, they could list the entire Cowboys defense under that heading. It ranks first in the NFC (fifth in the NFL) in total defense (288 yards), second in the NFL against the run (61.3) and first in the league in sacks (13). Ware, who will be playing in his 100th game Sunday, has a league-high five sacks. His 85 career sacks are second only to Reggie White's 105 in 100 games. "Is there a better player than that"
DeMarcus Ware: Redskins RBs pose a problem
"Tim Hightower and Roy Helu showed last week that they have the capability of forming a rather dynamic duo at running back for the Washington Redskins. That creates an additional challenge for defenses, according to Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware. At 6 feet, 222 pounds, Hightower is slightly bigger than the 5-11, 216-pound Helu. But the rookie is slightly faster, boasting 4.42-second speed in the 40-yard dash. After scouting both running backs on film, however, Ware said that Hightower and Helu aren't a "thunder and lightning" type of running back tandem. Instead, both can hurt a team in nearly the exact same way."
49ers looking for ways to stop Cowboys' sack machine DeMarcus Ware
"The Dallas Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware has sacked 37 quarterbacks in his prodigious career. Alex Smith is not one of them, nor has Smith ever faced Dallas. Those worlds could collide Sunday if the 49ers can't contain Ware, who's blossomed into one of the best pass-rushers in NFL history since being drafted 10 spots below Smith, whom the 49ers took first overall in 2005. To help prepare for Ware, the 49ers have enlisted this year's top draft pick, outside linebacker Aldon Smith, who's lined up as Ware on the scout team in practice this week. "Me and him both have long arms, so that's a look I can give the offense," said Aldon Smith, whose frame (6-foot-4, 258 pounds) also is similar to Ware's"
DeMarcus Ware on the Cowboys defense: Let's 'be No. 1 this year'
"DeMarcus Ware understands that the Cowboys had the 31st ranked defense in the NFL last year, and one of the league's top pass rushers isn't content with his team being just slightly better in that department this year. Ware said Friday that his goal is for the Cowboys' defense to be the top unit in 2011. "I want to be the top defense," Ware told the BaD Radio show on 1310 The Ticket (KTCK-AM). "I want to be the No. 1 defense in the league this year. Our defense wasn't as good as it should be, and guess what? Let's shoot for the stars and be No. 1 this year." Off-season preparation can obviously be a factor in improving on that side of the ball, and even with 15.5 sacks last year, Ware is"
Tyron Smith: I'm getting better everyday from what DeMarcus Ware teaches me
"Rookie offensive lineman Tyron Smith joined KRLD-FM 105.3 on Friday to talk about his preparation in training camp, which includes getting some tips from All-Pro DeMarcus Ware. On Hudson Houck saying Smith has the prototypical look of an offensive lineman. Tyron Smith: I might have all those things like he says I do, but there are always things I need to work on. For example, I'm always at the end of practice working on little things with him. Things he thinks I need to work on. On how Hudson Houck is making a difference for Smith and how he's helped. Tyron Smith: He goes hard on me everyday, like I would want in a coach. Even if I'm doing well that day, he's still on me about"
Moore: DeMarcus Ware, Jay Ratliff should benefit the most under Ryan's scheme
"Have you been taking advantage of our daily Cowboys chats from San Antonio? If not, you're missing out on practice updates and well as insider analysis from SportsDay's Dallas Cowboys experts Brandon George, Rainer Sabin and David Moore. Here are some highlights from Friday's chat, and be sure to check out our next chat Saturday afternoon at 2:30: Jasper: Which player will benefit the most from Rob Ryans scheme? David Moore: The best players should see the most benefit. That would be Ware and Ratliff. If Anthony Spencer's sack numbers don't go up, it's time to say he's not a big sack presence. Chris@Calexico: Don't u think Choice could be traded? I believe he does have value and we"
Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware restructures contract: 'The process is already finished'
"OLB DeMarcus Ware said his contract was restuctured to help give the club the financial flexibility needed to sign free agents. A day before the 3 p.m. Friday deadline when NFL teams are required to be under the $120.4 million salary cap, Ware disclosed the restructuring. "The process is already finished," Ware said. "I don't want to get into any numbers or anything like that. It's done.""
Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware: Warren Sapp's comments 'didn't bother me'
"Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive lineman Warren Sapp criticized defensive end DeMarcus Ware recently for his inability to lead, but the words apparently didn't fire up the leader of the Cowboys' defense. Ware was matter-of-fact about the comments, telling the Star-Telegram's Charean Williams that he's just preparing for the upcoming season. "I saw [Sapp's comments], but I'm getting ready for the season, so it really didn't bother me," Ware said ."
DeMarcus Ware adjusts contract with Cowboys 'to help the team'
"The Cowboys have signed seven free agents and the financial latitude to make those acquisitions was created, in part, by players such as outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware. On Thursday, Ware said he has restructured his contract. "The process is already finished," Ware explained. "I don't want to get into any numbers or anything like that. It's done. I did whatever I needed to do to help the team." Ware's cap number is $11.3 million and if the Cowboys cut it by the maximum amount they could reduce the figure to $5.9 million. Along with Ware, wide receiver Miles Austin and quarterback Tony Romo -- who have been awarded some of the heftiest contracts on the team -- are expected to rework their"
Cowboys' Ware unconcerned with Sapp's criticism
"Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware has led the league in sacks twice in his career. He has led the team or been tied for the team lead in sacks all six of his NFL seasons. He is 35 sacks from taking the team lead for a career. But the question, raised by NFL Network analyst Warren Sapp is whether Ware can lead his teammates to the NFL's Promised Land. "He's an absolute monster," Sapp said on the air recently, "but he's not going to lead a pack of ants to a picnic in his own back yard." Ware said he intends to call Sapp, but, beyond that, he insists he is unfazed by the criticism. "I saw [Sapp's comments], but I'm getting ready for the season, so it really didn't bother me," Ware said."
Getting schooled: DeMarcus Ware wants to tutor rookie Tyron Smith
"DeMarcus Ware said he wants to tutor first-round pick Tyron Smith. Through two practices, he's certainly taking Smith to school. Ware continued to give the 20-year-old tackle fits, flying past him untouched once en route to what would have been a clean shot on Tony Romo. The patchwork offensive line also struggled against non-starters. Linebackers Kenwin Cummings and Brandon Williams had would-be sacks. Williams has looked sharp through two practices."
Rob Ryan shouldn't take it slow with new Cowboys defense, Ware says
"If new defensive coordinator Rob Ryan wants to put in as much of his defense as he can in as short a time as he can, linebacker DeMarcus Ware won't discourage him. "We put in about 10 plays today," Ware said after the first walkthrough of camp. "Usually, we put about three plays in." Sounds like a lot. "And we didn't make a lot of mistakes," Ware said. "That's probably encouraging to him. It says, 'Hey, we've been studying and we're really ready for that punch that you're trying to throw at us.' ""
DeMarcus Ware: 'I should be the No. 1 guy' on list of top NFL players
"Since his rookie year in 2005, no NFL player has had more sacks than Dallas Cowboys outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware. However, that was not enough to get him ranked as one of the top 10 players in the league by his peers. Ware, who has 80 sacks since 2005, six more than second place Jared Allen, is arguably the best pass rusher in the NFL. But according to a players vote that has been unveiled on the NFL Network, Ware was given the No. 12 overall ranking. The 29-year-old appeared on the NFL Network on Sunday to dispute his place on the list. "You know, I think I should be the number one guy on the list," Ware said. "But at the end of the day, people are going to vote you where they think"
Cowboys' Ware decides to pass on $60,000; donates $5,000 to help injured boy
"With the lockout in full effect, NFL players around the country are starting to face the reality that they won't be getting a check for practice or playing in a game until things between the NLFPA and the owners is settled. The good news for players is that the NFLPA has a war chest that will allow the Association to give players money during the lockout. While Dallas Cowboys All-Pro linebacker DeMarcus Ware was supposed to get a check during the offseason, he's instead decided to forgo the money and spread it out evenly to the other players in the league. "We have $60,000 that is supposed to be paid to us," Ware told the Star-Telegram. "I gave my money back to help out other guys that"
Cowboys' Ware lends hand
"Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware went to Farine Elementary School to help celebrate a fifth-grader's going out of his way to help another student. It turns out Ware is doing the same thing for other NFL players during the lockout. The perennial Pro Bowler is not accepting any money raised by the former NFL Players Association to assist players during the lockout. Players who were on a roster every week for the past two years will receive $60,000. Players with less roster time will receive less. Ware signed a seven-year, $79 million contract, including a $20 million signing bonus and $40 million in guaranteed money in 2009. "We have $60,000 that is supposed to be paid to us," Ware"
Cowboys' Ware to donate lockout money to less-fortunate players
"Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware went to Farine Elementary School on Wednesday to help celebrate a fifth-grader's selfless act of going out of his way to help another student. It turns out Ware is doing the same thing for his fellow NFL brethren during the current lockout. The perennial Pro Bowler is not accepting any of the lockout fund money raised by the former NFL Players Association to assist players during the lockout. Players who were on a roster for every week for the past two years will receive $60,000. It will be rationed down after that depending on many weeks a player qualified for the money. Ware signed a seven-year, $79 million contract, including a $20 million signing bonus"
Lockout could cost Cowboys' Ware big bucks
"The NFL lockout could hit Cowboys Pro Bowl OLB DeMarcus Ware in the wallet big time, according to ESPN. If the lockout stretches well into the summer, offseason workouts will be wiped out. That's bad news for Ware because his contract calls for him to receive a bonus of $500,000 if he participates in 90 percent of the workouts, according to ESPN. New York Jets offensive tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson has the league's biggest offseason workout bonus. His pact calls for him to receive $750,000 if he participates in 85 percent of the workouts."
Fatherhood a gift Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware embraces
"More than a week ago, DeMarcus Ware decided his kids - Marley and DeMarcus Jr. - were going to rip open packages, littering the floor with brightly colored wrapping paper, and celebrate Christmas two days early. It wasn't even a big deal. Ware's daughter is 3 years old and his son is an infant, more interested in his next bottle than whatever Santa left, so Ware figured they wouldn't know whether Christmas came early or not. Ware and his wife, Taniqua, withstood a series of painful miscarriages before adopting their daughter, followed by the birth of their son. So there was no way Ware was going to miss Christmas with his kids just because his job as one of the NFL's premier pass"
Ware is a model of consistency when it comes to sacks
"Cowboys OLB DeMarcus Ware's two sacks of Rex Grossman in Sunday's 33-30 win over Washington was his first multi-sack game since he registered two against Tennessee in Week 5. Ware has 11.5 sacks for the season, marking his fifth-straight year with at least 10 sacks. The record for consecutive seasons with double digit sacks is nine by Hall of Famer Reggie White. The last player to have five-straight multi-sack games was Simeon Rice in 2001-2005. Ware is only the ninth player to have five straight seasons of 10 or more sacks."
After last year's monster performance, DeMarcus Ware has a tough act to follow vs. Saints
"DeMarcus Ware will have a difficult time today topping last year's game against New Orleans. Ware forced two fumbles on sacks of Drew Brees to help the Cowboys end the Saints' undefeated season just six days after he was carted off the Cowboys Stadium field strapped to a board with a neck injury. Ware ranked that game up there with his interception of Michael Vick and return for a touchdown in 2006 vs. Atlanta. "I had really fresh legs, so I knew that I was going to be able to play well, but you don't know what type of plays you're going to have," Ware said. Ware did not practice during the week leading up the game, and he wasn't sure he would play until warm-ups. Teammates didn't attempt"
Jason Witten, Miles Austin, DeMarcus Ware part of Cowboys' problem
"Jerry Jones, owner of the team with the NFL's highest payroll, can blame the Cowboys' sorry 1-6 record on the league's biggest collection of faux stars. But they're also losing because there are good players who are playing average and average players who are playing badly and bad players who are playing even worse than that. The people who are supposed to know better vastly overrated the talent on this team. That's Jerry Jones. And Stephen Jones. And Wade Phillips. And the scouting department. For whatever it's worth, so did I. You, too. We all did. But talented teams don't have four-game losing streaks. They don't go 0-4 at home. They don't crater weekly at the first sign of adversity."
Cowboys need Ware to deliver another dynamic game
"A two-game losing streak. A trip to a hostile stadium. A season seemingly hanging in the balance. All of the above describes the situation the Cowboys find themselves in heading into today's game against the Houston Texans. It's also where the Cowboys were a little more than nine months ago, when they traveled to New Orleans to face the undefeated Saints. Coming off back-to-back December losses to the New York Giants and San Diego, Dallas was given little chance of winning in the "Big Easy." And then DeMarcus Ware, coming off a neck injury the week before against the Chargers, had the game of his life."
DeMarcus Ware held out of practice with head injury
"Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware (head), fullback Deon Anderson (knee) and offensive tackle Sam Young (knee) also were held out of practice. Ware received a stinger to the head-neck region during the fourth quarter of the opener. He underwent a concussion test, which the club called a precaution, and could return to practice today. "I'm good," Ware said. Chicago is feverishly planning for Ware. According to quarterback Jay Cutler, offensive coordinator Mike Martz is designing ways to neutralize the pass rush of Ware and fellow outside linebacker Anthony Spencer. "We want to keep them guessing a little bit," Cutler said. "It's good to get out of the pocket. We do well when we get"
Ware able to walk off field after injury scare revisited
"With 4 minutes, 31 seconds left in the Washington-Dallas game Sunday, there was a disturbing reminder of what happened to DeMarcus Ware last season.Ware had to be carted off the field after a collision in a game against San Diego and anytime that happens, it's scary. As bad as the injury was, however, Ware was able to improve during the week and return the next week to play against the New Orleans Saints. He ended that game in dramatic style, forcing New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees to fumble, and that preserved a 24-17 Dallas victory. On Sunday, Ware had a collision with Redskins running back Larry Johnson, and hitting him in the midsection with his head and right shoulder.Again, Ware"
DeMarcus Ware says his neck is fine
"With 4:31 left in the fourth quarter, DeMarcus Ware suffered a neck stinger and did not return. After the game the All-Pro linebacker said he would be ready for the home opener against Chicago. "I'm good," Ware said. Ware suffered a serious neck injury last year vs. San Diego but he said this did not compare to that injury. He was replaced in the final series by Victor Butler. "It's a stinger, a dinger, whatever you want to call it," said Ware, who had six tackles and a sack. "Everybody who plays football it's part of the job." Ware said he did not expect to undergo further testing on Monday."
Healthy Ware will test Redskins' rookie tackle in opener
"DeMarcus Ware faces a rookie left tackle Sunday. He can't wait to welcome him into the NFL."Always," Ware said. But the Dallas Cowboys' outside linebacker has great respect for Trent Williams after watching the No. 4 overall draft pick on film, although only 12 of Williams' career starts at Oklahoma came at left tackle."He's a really good tackle," Ware said. "He's really quick. He's got really good recovery. He can handle the speed really well, too. I'm going to have my hands full. I'll find a way to get there."Ware took a shot to the head in the season opener last year, missing a few plays. It was the beginning of a string of injuries he played through in 2009, including injuries to his"
Jason Witten on DeMarcus Ware: If I can block him, I can block anybody'
"The mental checklist starts once Jason Witten leaves the huddle and sees DeMarcus Ware on the other side of the line of scrimmage. His heart rate quickens. "Get your second step down quick," Witten thinks to himself. "Fast hands. The release has to be better. Get him off the jam because he's going to try and jam me." The same thing happens to Ware. "What type of stance is he in?" Ware thinks. "Is he going to over-set me? Is he going to be more aggressive? What did he give me the first time I went against him? What move will trick him because I give him power the majority of the time? Then comes the snap of the ball and the play unfolds. Some plays Ware wins. Some plays Witten wins. It's"
Former Cowboys great helps DeMarcus Ware stay on top of his game
"Dallas Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware is arguably the league's best pass rusher. But he is not too good or too proud to learn. So it was quite a sight to see Ware in the Alamodome tunnel after practice Monday receiving tips from former Cowboys star defensive end Charles Haley."It's good to have a guy come back and teach me," Ware said."He is teaching me technique stuff. He shows me the small things you can do. It's about trying to perfect what you do."Haley won three Super Bowl titles wearing No. 94 and harassing quarterbacks. It wasn't a coincidence that the Cowboys gave Ware No. 94 when they drafted him in the first round in 2005, even though he didn't know the significance at the"
DeMarcus Ware quietly builds a Hall of Fame career
"In a league littered with egomaniacs (looking at you, Brett Favre) and in a Cowboys training camp with a few fledgling prima donnas (talking to you, Marion Barber), DeMarcus Ware tends to go a little unnoticed at times, or at least unnoticed compared to his talent level. He certainly fails to generate 24-hour ESPN coverage like a few megalomaniacs -- talking to you, T.O. And good luck with that, Cincy, because that cast of clowns worked so well in Dallas' locker room.Buzz about Ware falls under quiet buzz, with offhanded mentions like "Probably best pass rusher playing at this moment." And even that seems infrequent, surprisingly so considering Ware has to be considered a defensive player"
Depth behind DeMarcus Ware an issue
"Spencer and Ware became a dominant pair in the second half last season. In the final eight regular-season games and the playoffs, they combined for 129 tackles, 17 sacks and 57 quarterback pressures. Both played a role in the club's slow start. As the Cowboys split the first four regular-season games, Spencer and Ware combined for zero sacks on 141 pass plays. Spencer did not have a sack in his first 10 games as the replacement for Greg Ellis, who moved to Oakland as a free agent. Ware played through a series of injuries that included a frightening sprained neck that caused him to miss a start, at New Orleans, for the first time in his career. The Cowboys' lack of depth at the positions"
DeMarcus Ware has surgery; Cowboys looking into spliting training camp locales
"The Dallas Cowboys could be headed west again for training camp. The Cowboys are exploring the possibility of going back to Oxnard, Calif., for training camp this summer in what would be a split-camp scenario with San Antonio. The Cowboys are in the midst of the five-year deal with the Alamodome in San Antonio that expires in 2011. They will be training there for sure this summer. The question is whether they will spend the entire time in San Antonio or spend at least two weeks in Oxnard, where the Cowboys trained from 2004-2006 before signing the long-term deal with San Antonio. The Cowboys returned to Oxnard in 2008 because of a scheduling conflict with the Alamodome."I got a message from"
Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware, Alan Ball and Duke Preston have surgery
"Pro Bowl linebacker DeMarcus Ware had foot surgery Thursday, but he wasn't the only Cowboy to have surgery. Alan Ball and Duke Preston had minor surgery on their ankles, but neither is expected to need a prolonged recovery time. Ball started three games last year at free safety after Ken Hamlin was sidelined because of a high ankle sprain. Ball finished the season with 19 tackles, a tackle for a loss and four pass deflections. He also was one of the Cowboys' best special-teamers, finishing third with 16 tackles."
Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware set for foot surgery
"Three weeks after the Pro Bowl, the Cowboys' DeMarcus Ware is scheduled to undergo surgery on his left foot Thursday. Ware will have a bone spur removed but is expected back in time for the beginning of the off-season program that starts next month. Ware played through a sprained neck, a fractured left wrist and a stress fracture in his left foot in 2009 but was named All-Pro for the third straight year."
