RB coach Skip Peete: It'll take until training camp before Murray, Vickers can get on same page
"DeMarco Murray and former Cowboys fullback Tony Fiammetta were obviously on the same page last year. But it will take until training camp at the earliest before Murray can try to do the same with new fullback Lawrence Vickers, says running backs coach Skip Peete. "The majority of the running game comes from your feel with that person in a live setting, so we've got to wait and see what it's like in training camp when we get in our inside run period, where we're actually full speed against our defense and see how they both respond and react to whatever the defense presents to us," Peete said after an OTA practice this week at Valley Ranch."
Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray is back on the field and says he is '100 percent'
"Almost as quickly as he burst on the scene last season, Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray vanished after fracturing his right ankle last December against the New York Giants. But Murray is back, running at full speed and no longer hampered the injury that curtailed his impressive rookie campaign, when he led the Cowboys with 897 rushing yards. Asked how healthy he is, Murray responded, "100 percent." "I felt great," he added. "I have been feeling great. I have been doing everything in the past month-and-a-half 100-percent-wise. No limitations. I'm feeling good out there.""
DeMarco Murray: Cowboys more vocal during off-season, Tony Romo's calling people out
"Arguably the biggest criticism of the Cowboys is that there's a lack of leadership behind the scenes. Many NFL analysts have blamed the Cowboys' one playoff berth in four seasons on not having the right leaders in the locker room. According to a Monday interview with Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray , quarterback Tony Romo has been filling that role during off-season workouts. "Just the fact that he's been there everyday, working out, he's calling people out, letting people know what they're doing right, what they're doing wrong," Murray responded after being asked why he believes Romo is poised to lead the team to a Super Bowl. "He's working out tremendously hard. We also have Jason"
Cowboys running back Murray says he's healed, set to roll again
"DeMarco Murray briskly climbed a small set of stairs onto a stage at Sunset Station to tell a cheering gathering of Dallas Cowboys fans the obvious. "I'm back 100 percent," the running back said Sunday at Cowboys Fan Fest, an event the club's marketing department organized to help make up for the team moving its training camp from San Antonio to Oxnard, Calif. Murray's record-setting rookie season was cut short last year when he fractured his right ankle in the first quarter of a 37-34 loss to the New York Giants on Dec. 11. He had surgery the next day and missed the final three games."

Jason Garrett on Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray's recovery: 'He is getting there'
"As soon as DeMarco Murray's season ended with a fractured right ankle he suffered Dec. 11 against the New York Giants, the Cowboys running back was rarely seen by the media at the team's headquarters. But Murray has been progressing through the rehabilitation process, Garrett said. "He's getting there," Garrett said. "He is getting there. At every turn, the rehab has gone well for him, all positive marks. And really it's a tribute to our training staff but also to his approach. He's a guy who has been there every day doing what he's supposed to do and his body is responding well.""
DeMarcus Ware doesn't necessarily agree with DE Jason Hatcher about the Cowboys not having any leaders
"Outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware said the Cowboys don't have any leadership issues because they have more than one leader on their team. On Friday, Cowboys defensive end Jason Hatcher had an interesting answer to a question during a radio interview on KESN-FM 103.3 when he was asked, "Who are the leaders on the Dallas Cowboys?" "Uh, dude, I got to be honest with you. That's a good question. That's a good question," Hatcher said. "I really don't know." Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders, who was co-hosting the show, cut in and said, "That's a heck of an answer." Then Hatcher continued. "Yeah, I really don't know. That's another thing we really need," Hatcher said. "We need like a Ray"
DeMarco Murray: Ankle is ahead of schedule; 'great things' coming for Cowboys
"When it comes to rehabilitating his injured right ankle, DeMarco Murray says he's ahead of schedule. The Cowboys star rookie running back had his season ended on Dec. 11 after fracturing his ankle in a 37-34 loss to the visiting New York Giants. "I've been working hard to strengthen my ankle," Murray said recently in an interview with FOXSports.com. "I'm definitely ahead of schedule. I think I start running on [Feb. 6] actually, so I'm excited to get back there." Murray, who was in Indianapolis for the Super Bowl, said he has stayed in Dallas since having surgery in December, working on getting back to full strength."
In DeMarco Murray, Cowboys finally find a pick that clicks at running back
"When DeMarco Murray burst on the scene last October, beginning a remarkable stretch when he rushed for 601 yards in four games, it appeared that the Cowboys had finally found the transcendent running back that they had been searching for since the days when Emmitt Smith galloped across the turf at Texas Stadium. Murray flashed a unique combination of speed, power and vision. Teammates marveled at the rookie's ability to set up blocks and finish runs. Until he fractured his right ankle Dec. 11 in a game against the New York Giants , the Cowboys' 2011 third-round pick seemed destined to become the first Dallas running back to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season since Julius Jones"
Tyron Smith, DeMarco Murray make list of top 20 rookies
"Tyron Smith and DeMarco Murray were two of the top rookies in the NFL this year and ESPN's Mel Kiper recently agreed. The draft guru published a list of his top 20 rookies on Thursday. Not only were Murray and Smith included but both cracked the top 15. Not bad for the ninth overall pick (Smith) and the 71st overall selection (Murray). Smith, who was ranked 12th on Kiper's list , was the second offensive lineman on the list, landing behind Oakland Raiders center Stefen Wisniewski."
DeMarco Murray: It takes more than negative tweets to upset me
"Shortly after leaving the University of Oklahoma , DeMarco Murray was convinced by a marketing expert to join Twitter. During a radio interview this week the Cowboys running back admitted that even though he was skeptical at first, he's enjoying his time on the social networking site. The only negative can be some unruly fans. San Francisco 49ers punt returner Kyle Williams witnessed the extreme side of sites like Twitter following Sunday's NFC Championship Game. Williams, whose two muffed punts led to the New York Giants scoring 10 points in the final quarter, received death threats because of his costly mistakes."
Cowboys liked Murray's power at Senior Bowl last year, and Jerry says it's what separates him from Felix Jones now
"The NFL Network experts are giving DeMarco Murray credit for raising his stock at last year's Senior Bowl, and to the Cowboys for drafting him. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said it was Murray's strength inside the tackles that made a difference. "We knew he could be physical. We did not know he could run between the tackles," Jones said in an interview with the NFL Network this week. "We didn't see that a lot. But we knew he had the speed, could block, protect, and knew that he could really catch the ball.""
Dez Bryant, DeMarco Murray and Tyron Smith could become 'blue-chip players' in 2012
"On the talent level of the Cowboys' roster: I listed six guys – Romo, Witten, DeMarcus Ware , Jay Ratliff, Sean Lee and Dan Bailey – those six are as good any playing their positions in the NFL . And I think Dez Bryant , DeMarco Murray, Tyron Smith, there are a few others that could go into that group. That's nine guys next year that are potential blue-chip players on this team. We learned from Jimmy Johnson, you win with your blue-chip players. The Cowboys have an ample amount of blue-chip caliber players. The key is now you've got to fill in around them, you've got to find some guys that can cover against the pass, you've got to find another pass rusher, you've got to find some bigger"
Romo likely to play at his highest level for two more seasons; DeMarco Murray will be fine
"Comment From Yesireee Bob ... Demarco Murray's injury - full recovery, or will he lose a step? Thoughts about who /what the Cowboys should take with their late first round draft pick? Rainer Sabin: I think DeMarco Murray will be fine. He said last week during a radio interview that he expects to make a complete recovery within the next few months. I don't anticipate any lingering problems from the injury. I would advocate that the Cowboys take a cornerback or safety in the first round. It is obvious that there are problems an the back end of the defense."
DeMarco Murray: I'll be running within 4 weeks, 'I should be 100 percent by about two months'
"Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray recently said he had surgery on his fractured right ankle and that he expects to be at full strength in a couple of months. "I'm doing well," Murray told ESPN Radio in Las Vegas and transcribed by SportsRadioInterviews.com. "I'm doing well. It was an easy, simple surgery. It wasn't something that was long enough to keep me out for not much. I'll be…I'm running within 4 weeks. I should be 100% by about two months. I won't miss anything." Murray, who said he heard his ankle pop twice while being tackled by Giants defensive end Dave Tollefson on December 11, immediately knew he had suffered the most severe ankle injury of his career."
Starting running back job is Felix Jones' again
"The Cowboys have confidence in Felix Jones, and Felix Jones has confidence in Felix Jones. "Any time you get a chance to get out there and help your team you are happy," Jones said. "We've just got to do what we can and make the best of every opportunity we get." Jones returns to being the Cowboys' starting running back. He had that role until spraining his left ankle in the Oct. 16 game against New England. DeMarco Murray replaced him, and in his first game as the lead back, set the team record for rushing yards in a single game. Now, with Murray lost for the season with a fractured right ankle and high ankle sprain, it's Jones' job again."
Cowboys rookie RB DeMarco Murray to have surgery on ankle Monday and is IR bound
"The Cowboys will have to find another player to get them to the finish line when leading late in games with rookie running back DeMarco Murray done for the season with a fractured right ankle. Murray broke his ankle and suffered a high ankle sprain in the first quarter of the Cowboys' devastating 37-34 loss Sunday night to the Giants. He was scheduled to have surgery later Monday and will be placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Murray was hurt on a draw play he's been so successful with, breaking to the right side for an eight-yard gain. He was tackled from behind by Giants defensive end Dave Tollefson."
See you next year? Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray has ankle fracture, high ankle sprain
"This wasn't the way Cowboys rookie running back DeMarco Murray wanted to go out this season. Murray left the Cowboys locker room late Sunday night on crutches with his right foot in a black protective boot. The hood of his gray sweatshirt covered his head as he made his way out of the locker room. Right outside the locker room, Murray was helped into his white Ford Mustang with blue racing stripes and off he went into the darkness. He never said a word. Take a good look Cowboys' fans, it's likely the last time you'll see Murray this year."
DeMarcus Ware one of eight Cowboys players to miss practice Wednesday, but he will play Sunday
"Eight Cowboys players missed practice Wednesday, including NFL sack leader DeMarcus Ware. Ware was held out for precautionary reasons after suffering a stinger late in the third quarter Sunday and missed one play before finishing the game. Ware is expected to play Sunday, however, and could return to practice as early as Thursday. Also missing Wednesday's practice: TE Martellus Bennett (ribs), NT Josh Brent (left knee), backup QB Jon Kitna (back), RG Kyle Kosier (left foot), S Danny McCray (ankle), WR Laurent Robinson (right shoulder) and third-string RB Phillip Tanner (hamstring). Murray became the featured running back against St. Louis on Oct. 23 after Felix Jones injured his ankle. Murray led the team to a 4-0 record for the month of November, rushing 89 times for 434 yards (4.9 avg.) with one touchdown while adding 20 receptions for 156 yards (7.8 avg.) in the month. Murray is the second Cowboys player to receive the monthly offensive rookie award and only the fourth rookie honored."
DeMarco Murray finishes strong
"DeMarco Murray may not have had another 100-yard game, but what he did in the final three minutes earned even more respect from his teammates. After back-to-back catches by Jason Witten moved the ball the Dolphins 35-yard line, Murray got the ball five consecutive times and picked up a pair of critical first downs to move the Cowboys in position for a short field goal. "That right there, to me, is more meaningful than the 150 yards he's had in previous weeks because things are tough running there," tight end Jason Witten said, noting how the Dolphins were stacking eight and nine men in the box. "He understands what he's got to do there: stay in bounds, keep the clock running, get the hard"
DeMarco Murray earns stripes as every down back in tough game against Redskins
"Rookie running back sensation DeMarco Murray didn't put up eye-popping numbers in the 27-24 overtime victory against the Redskins. He rushed for just 73 yards on 25 carries in what he called the most physical game he's been. It was far cry from the record-setting 601 yards he put in the four previous games. However Murray's toughness in continuing to hit up in there strong the entire game was very impressive to the Cowboys."
Cowboys RB DeMarco Murray finishes with only 73 rushing yards on 25 carries
"Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray had a pedestrian-type game for him Sunday against Washington considering how he's performed over the last month. On Sunday, he finished with 73 rushing yards on 25 carries, reaching at least 20 carries for the fourth time in five games. Murray also caught six passes for 32 yards.
