Chris Stewart News & Rumors

Blues send a message by demoting Stewart
"In a game that wound up a 2-1 loss, a failure by Blues forward Chris Stewart to score into an open net Tuesday night in Columbus proved a memorable miss. On Wednesday, Stewart found himself practicing on the team's fourth line, and he's expected to remain there tonight when the Blues host the New York Islanders at Scottrade Center. The demotion, however, is far less about one opportunity — "Those things happen in a game," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said — and much more about Stewart's enigmatic offensive season. After averaging 28 goals and 58 points the past two years, he has produced just 11 goals and 22 points in 53 games this season. "Before you can think about scoring goals, you've got"
NHL suspends Blues' Stewart for three games
"It's a new age in the NHL, where questionable hits are severely punished and the decisions are explained in detailed videos by former Blue Brendan Shanahan, now the league vice president in charge of player safety. So when Blues forward Chris Stewart shoved Detroit's Niklas Kronwall head-first into the boards in the first period of Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Red Wings, earning a five-minute major and a game misconduct, it was a matter of when, not if, Stewart would hear from the NHL. After a late-morning teleconference Wednesday, allowing Stewart to tell his side of the story, Shanahan announced a three-game suspension for the forward beginning with the Blues' game against the Florida"
Chris Stewart suspended three games
"The NHL has suspended Blues forward Chris Stewart three games after his illegal hit on Niklas Kronwall in Tuesday's 2-1 win over Detroit. As you can see in the Youtube video clip in this blog, Kronwall was attempting to protect a puck along the boards when Stewart pushed him from behind. Kronwall went into the boards and lie on the ice briefly before leaving the game for the rest of the period. He returned at the start of the second period. Stewart received a five-minute majory penalty for checking from behind and a game misconduct. As a result of the three-game suspension, Stewart will forfeit $46,621.62. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund."
Stewart brothers finally face off in NHL
"Chris and Anthony Stewart were planning to use extra caution after leaving the Ice Zone in Hazelwood on Thursday. Their teams, the Blues and the Carolina Hurricanes, had back-to-back practices there in the afternoon and the brothers were planning to have dinner together for the second straight night. But after hanging out downtown Wednesday and watching the Cardinals' World Series game on TV, their goal was to make Thursday night uneventful. Now on the third attempt, the Stewarts didn't want anything to prevent them from facing each other for the first time in the NHL. The first time they were scheduled to meet, Anthony was a last-minute healthy scratch; and last year Chris broke his"
