Chad Ochocinco to star in VH1 reality show
"News broke today that Chad "Hollywood" Ochocinco, who is preparing for his "Dancing With The Stars" gig on ABC, will also be starring in a VH1 reality show this offseason. From the VH1 press release: Cincinnati Bengals star wide receiver Chad Ocho Cinco (formerly Chad Johnson) is using his off-season to pursue happiness off the field in his new VH1 reality show The Tournament (working title). The series is a mix of Ocho Cinco's on-field charisma blended with the drama of the dating pool played out in a bracket-style dating tournament. The 10 episode, one-hour series is set to premiere in July 2010."
Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said he'll be rooting for Ochocinco on reality show
"Back from Indianapolis after the NFL Scouting Combine, coach Marvin Lewis said he will be rooting for Chad Ochocinco on Dancing with the Stars when it begins on March 22. While Ochocinco is sambaing in Los Angeles, the Bengals will begin their offseason conditioning program on March 29. Said Lewis of Ochocinco's participation: "My conversations with Chad will remain between us, but let's just say I hope he wins the whole thing. Like Carson already said, we'll have Bengals football players watching a dancing show like never before. "Chad is not going to miss any mandatory team work, and at this point in his career, the muscle endurance and flexibility promoted by dancing should do nothing ..."
Chad Ochocinco's floor time on 'Dancing with the Stars' costs field time
"Monday night's announcement that Chad Ochocinco will compete on "Dancing with the Stars" means the Bengals wide receiver will not participate in the team's offseason conditioning program for a third straight year. That's not a surprise to coach Marvin Lewis. In comments to Bengals.com two weeks ago, Lewis said he didn't expect Ochocinco to be back in Cincinnati until May, when on-field organized team activities begin. But Lewis gave some sort of approval, grudgingly or not, for Ochocinco to participate in the ABC show. Last fall, when rumors that Ochocinco would appear on it started, the receiver said his participation would be up to Lewis. Last year, Ochocinco reported to the Bengals on ..."
Chad Ochocinco to be on 'Dancing with the Stars'
"After years of dancing in the end zone, Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco will be "Dancing with the Stars" later this month. ABC announced Monday night that Ochocinco, 32, will be among the 11 cast members competing in the 10th season premiering March 22. Also set to appear this season are Pamela Anderson, ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews, actress Shannen Doherty, actress Niecy Nash, actor Aiden Turner, reality-TV star Kate Gosselin, astronaut Buzz Aldrin, figure skater Evan Lysacek, Jake Pavelka of "The Bachelor" and Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussycat Dolls. Athletes have fared well on the show. Dallas Cowboys All-Pro Emmitt Smith won in 2006, and NFL stars Jerry Rice, Jason Taylor ..."
Chad Ochocinco stars in singer Monica's new video
"It seems we are living in a world where avoiding Chad Ochocinco may become impossible. Not that this is a bad thing. As the Bengals' resident noisemaker/entertainer mounts a social media campaign to worm his way into the Oscars – #get85intheOSCARS on Twitter -- we received word that Ochocinco is starring in R&B singer Monica's new music video. And, indeed, there he is -- throwing a football, wearing a suit, wearing an orange shirt and wearing no shirt at all -- playing Monica's devoted husband as she sings "Everything to Me," from her upcoming album "Still Standing." You can see the video, which officially premiered Tuesday night, at www.monica.com. It tells the story of a hot brunette ..."
Esiason: Bengals should dump Chad
"Former Bengals great Boomer Esiason isn't buying what Chad Ochocinco is selling. I happened to briefly tune in to the Pro Bowl on radio just as Esiason was talking about the Bengals and Ochocinco. Esiason said that he's "not a fan of Ochocinco" and that Chad is all about Chad — not the team. He went on to say how he believes Chad's antics leading up to games each week — like trash-talking defensive backs — get other teams focused because they don't want to be shown up. He said the Bengals should part ways with Ochocinco now, but pointed out that head coach Marvin Lewis probably doesn't have the authority to cut or even properly discipline Chad because of heavy-handed owner Mike Brown."
Chad Ochocinco: Please sign Owens
"With free agency set to begin one month from tomorrow, Chad Ochocinco gave his endorsement to adding another big-name receiver to the Bengals – Terrell Owens. Ochocinco earlier in the day told Fox Sport's Jay Glazer that the Bengals were going to sign Owens, who is an unrestricted free agent. Later in the day from South Florida, where he was making the rounds on radio row for Super Bowl week, Ochocinco slightly changed his stance, saying he was in favor of signing the enigmatic receiver. "Eighty one and eighty five, what more is there to say?" Ochocinco said. "I like what we have but I think a veteran presence and giving Carson another target someone of that caliber. Can we not say take an ..."
'Reporters' Darnell Dockett, Ochocinco? Bring it on
"As soon as the NFL started allowing hand puppets, reporters in wedding gowns and men sporting distracting feathered boas to cover Super Bowl media day, the game ceased to become an event to be treated with deference and austerity. I'm OK with that. With two weeks of hype, how many updates can you handle about Dwight Freeney's ankle? Seriously, the dude's either going to play or not play. Now what? How about Cardinals defensive lineman Darnell Dockett working as a correspondent for the Ochocinco News Network in the days leading up to Sunday's Colts-Saints meeting? Bring it on. Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco may be a divisive figure, but I've always found myself in the entertained, not ..."
Chad Ochocinco doesn't get kicks in Pro Bowl
"Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco's did not get his wish of kicking or punting in the Pro Bowl, but he did accomplish one thing by collecting his $45,000 check for helping the AFC win. "Basically, this covers half of my fines for the whole season, so I'm really happy," he said. "I'm $45,000 richer. It's beautiful. It's a great ending to a great year and a good start for 2010." Although he didn't get his kicks, Ochocinco played a key role in the AFC's 41-34 victory over the NFC 41-34 at Sun Life Stadium. • Scoring summary and statistics His quarterbacks targeted him more times than any other receiver in the game and he caught four passes for 80 yards. Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback ..."
At Pro Bowl practice, Chad Ochocinco's already stealing the show
"There are two players wearing No. 85 at the Pro Bowl's AFC practice session. If it takes more than a few seconds to tell which of them is Antonio Gates, tight end, and which is Chad Ochocinco, loose cannon, well, you're just not paying attention. That the Pro Bowl has come to Miami, Ochocinco's hometown, is the surest guarantee of edgy South Florida-style entertainment in an exhibition that otherwise might as well stay in Hawaii, or fade away altogether. At his alma mater, Miami Beach Senior High School, they knew him as Chad Johnson, mild-mannered student raised by his grandparents in Liberty City. So much has happened since then. So much may happen Sunday at Sun Life Stadium, which kind ..."
Chad Ochocinco begins 'Tour of Giving'
"Chad Ochocinco says the New York Jets could win the Super Bowl, but their toughest test will come Sunday against Indianapolis. Why? Because Peyton Manning is far and away the best quarterback at picking apart blitzes. "He'll make Rex pay,' said the Bengals wide receiver, referring to Jets coach and defensive wizard Rex Ryan. It was Thursday morning. No. 85 was whipping up biscuits in the new kitchen at the Freestore Foodbank on Central Parkway to begin a three-day, charity bus tour that's going to Miami, site of Super Bowl XLIV. The gregarious one wasn't shooting a guest spot for the Food Network, but he could have been. He might have lost a half-step on the deep routes (he turned 32 two ..."
Ochocinco to race Titans' Johnson?
"The Cincinnati Bengals got a player in the Pro Bowl after all. Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco was selected as an alternate Friday. He replaced injured New England Patriots receiver Wes Welker (knee) on the AFC roster. Ochocinco reacted to the news by declaring he would take part in a charity sprint. "Adam I am racing Chris Johnson, the loser is giving there pro bowl check over to those in need in Haiti," Ochocinco wrote on Twitter, referring to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter."
Jets' Darrelle Revis holds Cincinnati Bengals' Chad Ochocinco to two catches in wild-card
"You can call him Johnson. Chad Ochocinco will have an entire offseason to consider the name change he promised, now that he was unable to get much done against Darrelle Revis for the second straight week. Between Revis' tight coverage and the wildness of quarterback Carson Palmer, there wasn't much he could do to avoid the Bengals' 24-14 loss to the Jets in Saturday's wild-card playoff game. It wasn't much of a 32nd birthday for Ochocinco. "I'm going to be here for a while," Ochocinco said in front of his locker after slowly getting dressed. "I don't feel like going home. Friends, family, mom, grandma ... I'll be right here ... for about a month." Ochocinco didn't make his first catch ..."
Jets, Revis shut down Ochocinco again
"How do you say overrated in Spanish? Chad Ochocinco needs a new last name. For the second straight week, Darrelle Revis and the Jets silenced the mouthy receiver. Ochocinco? More like Ocho-Stinko. He finished with two catches, two more than he had in the regular-season finale at The Meadowlands. That's two weeks, plenty of talk and little production for those of you scoring at home. Ochocinco barely made a ripple in today's AFC wild-card game. Carson Palmer threw his way just five times. His biggest contribution of the day was drawing a questionable 26-yard pass interference call on Revis that put the Bengals in scoring range. Even that didn't work out for the Bengals as Shayne Graham ..."
In Battle of Blowhards, Gang Green showing no lack of confidence
"Reality TV's got nothing on the Jets and Bengals. Welcome to the Battle of the Blowhards, and it's a beautiful thing. If Chad Ochocinco isn't filling us in on his moves in the bedroom, Rex Ryan is telling the world he believes his 9-7 Jets, with a rookie quarterback, should be Super Bowl favorites. If you didn't know better, you would think this is the old AFL not the No Fun League that is the NFL. It's about time coaches got off their high horse and started having fun with the playoff encounters instead of making every game out to be World War III. With Rex and Chad, it's more like WWE. There's nothing wrong with that. Ryan was making a point yesterday about how much he believes in his ..."
Ochocinco praises Jets' Darrelle Revis, but doesn't offer thoughts on wild-card game
"The clown nose is off. The game face is on. Chad Ochocinco may not be done tweeting but he is done talking, and on that count he is a lot better in the regular season than he is in the playoffs. Could it be? The brash receiver is shutting down the entertainment portion of his football week. "I'm energized but more in a focused way," Ochocinco said Tuesday in front of his locker room in his one media appearance of the week. "This isn't a week to talk. This isn't a week for games and fun. So I'll leave the energizing to the fans." It was less holding court than it was fulfilling his media obligation. He even tweeted that, since the atmosphere has changed in the locker room this week, he must ..."
Kerry Rhodes, Darrelle Revis silence Bengals trash-talker Chad Ochocinco - for now, at least
"Revis Island apparently isn't the only place Chad Ochocinco has trouble operating. According to Kerry Rhodes, the Bengals receiver doesn't enjoy running across the middle, especially after taking a big hit like he did from the Jets safety on Sunday. "You want to put a hit on every receiver coming across the middle," Rhodes said Tuesday. "But he's a guy that he doesn't like to come in between those numbers (on the field). The majority of his catches go vertical or they're outside, so when he comes across there, you want to catch him." Ochocinco has toned down his act this week as far as the trash-talking. But he took exception to Rhodes' assertion that he does not like going across the ..."
Ochocinco MRI reveals good news
"An MRI to Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco revealed no structural damage to his left knee. He could be limited in practice on Tuesday and Wednesday or not participate. A national television audience watched the Bengals, including Ochocino, give one of the most inept performances in their history on Sunday night, losing to the New York Jets 37-0 in the final regular-season game. They've got five days to get over it and get ready for a playoff rematch. The Bengals played so poorly Ochocinco, who failed to catch a pass for the first time since 2002, tweeted an apology on Monday morning. There will be plenty of soul-searching this week for a team that looked like it doesn't belong in the ..."
Ochocinco invites superfan to Cincy
"Chad Ochocinco knows he was more like Ocho-stinko on Sunday and apologized yester day to Bengals fans. "Bengal Nation on behalf of myself and my teammates we apologize for last night's game, we will bounce back," the mouthy Bengals re ceiver tweeted. "Cincy be great!" After coming up with no catches during Sun day's 37-0 loss to the Jets, Ochocinco was back at it on Twitter yesterday, giving up dates about his injured left knee and even inviting Jets superfan "Fireman Ed" to Cincinnati for Saturday's AFC Wild Card game. "Does anybody in NY know how to get in touch with FIREMAN ED?" Ochocinco tweeted. "I owe him a trip to this Saturday's game -- VIP treatment.""
Chad Ochocinco puts up no-catch effort against Darrelle Revis, New York Jets
"After all the hype and talk and boasting on Twitter, Chad Ochocinco was the one who was embarrassed by Darrelle Revis. Ochocinco was so confident he'd beat the Jets' Pro Bowl cornerback Sunday night that he staked his name on the matchup with Revis in an interview with NBC. "If Revis were to shut me down, I will change my name back to Johnson," the Bengals' wide receiver said in an interview last week with Bob Costas that aired Sunday night on NBC. "That's how confident I am. It's not happening." After being not just shut down, but shut out, Ochocinco reneged on his vow, offering his favorite line when asked if he's going follow up on the name change. "Child please," the receiver said. ..."
Darrelle Revis scores knockout over Chad Ochocinco in Round 1
"Round 1 to Revis. Round 2? Meet us on Saturday. The most anticipated individual match-up of the Jets-Bengals game Sunday night at Giants Stadium was a knockout for Jets' cornerback Darrelle Revis, who held Cincinnati star receiver Chad Ochocinco without a catch before Ochocinco went to the locker room with a knee injury. "We had a great time on Revis Island but I had to send him home a little early," Revis said. "He started acting up." Ochocinco was provocative all week, using his personal Twitter account and a conference call with Jets' reporters to insist there was no chance Revis would shut him down. But in the same way he has silenced the NFL's best receivers all season long, Revis ..."
Ochocinco's pregame jabs nothing but hot air
"It took a little over four minutes for the Jets to score their first touchdown Sunday night. It came easy on a field so cold it was slippery, as a harsh wind whipped around the New Jersey marshes during the final game in the Meadowlands. By the end of the first half, the Jets had amassed 190 rushing yards on the Bengals defense, to just seven lonely yards on the opposite side of the stat sheet. So much for one of the best run defenses in the NFL, at least for one night. If the first round win over the Bengals seemed easy last night, it's likely that the rematch this weekend will be a little different. As the No. 5 seed, the Jets will head to Cincinnati for Saturday's 4:30 p.m. playoff game ..."
Revis shuts down Cincy big mouth
"After a week of Twitter, Chad Ochocinco was simply a twit. Darrelle Revis silenced the Bengals receiver with blanket coverage in the Jets' 37-0 victory last night at Giants Stadium. When the ball did get to him, Ochocinco dropped it, finishing the night with no catches. Revis turned Ochocinco into Mr. Zero. Ochocinco played only a half after slipping during the pregame and bruising his left knee. "He'll be fine," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "His pride got bruised." Ochocinco spent the week talking big about his matchup with Revis, comparing it to a big prize fight, boasting how he could not be covered and cracking jokes about "Revis Island." Ochocinco said he'll have an MRI exam ..."
Chad Ochocinco ready for Darrelle Revis
"Chad Ochocinco has already faced two of the top cornerbacks in the AFC in Denver's Champ Bailey and Oakland's Nnamdi Asomugha, but Sunday night, he faces perhaps his toughest test in the Jets' Darrelle Revis. "In order to be the best you have to be good at everything and he's good at everything," said Ochocinco of Revis. "He's extremely good in bump and run, he stays up high and his feet are good." Revis, who will be going to his second Pro Bowl, anchors a defense that is the league's top-ranked against the pass. The cornerback, who was selected as the team's Most Valuable Player by his teammates, is tied for second in the AFC with six interceptions along with a league-high 34 passes ..."
Revis eyes 'Tweet' revenge
"Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis returned to practice yesterday after missing Wednesday with an illness. "Ocho fever," Revis joked, referring to Chad Ochocinco, whom he'll match up against Sunday. Revis didn't seem the least bit upset about the barrage of Twitter posts Ochocinco has fired off saying he was going to "embarrass" Revis. "We'll see on Sunday," Revis said. "The message is: You can't Tweet on Sundays. You've got to leave your phone in the locker room and bring you're 'A' game." Revis and Ochocinco are friends, both living in south Florida in the offseason, but they remain the marquee matchup in Sunday's game because of Ochocinco's trash talk. "I'm not a big trash-talker, but he's ..."
Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis will silence loud-mouth Chad Ochocinco
"Chad Ochocinco will enter through the VIP entrance onto Revis Island around 8:20 p.m. Sunday with his mouth going 100 mph, but he will be silenced and disappear until he is walking to the team bus around midnight. Keyshawn's little cousin is entertaining and creative in a league that discourages individuality with large fines, but here's the deal: More talented receivers than Ochocinco have ventured onto Revis Island this season and gone missing for the next three hours. Ochocinco has been working overtime hyping his matchup with Darrelle Revis. Somebody needs to shut this guy up. And Revis is the man. You have to give Ochocinco credit for being the NFL's greatest self-promoter. He plays ..."
Chad Ochocinco to Lewis: No rest for 85
"Bengals coach Marvin Lewis says he's playing to win Sunday, and that's a good thing in Chad Ochocinco's book. The New York Jets are fighting for their playoff lives, while the Bengals are already in. By kickoff time - 8:20 p.m. Sunday - the Bengals will know if they are playing for a No. 3 seed in the playoffs. Either way, Ochocinco wants to play all four quarters. He said he has telephoned Lewis "15 times" since last Sunday. Lewis has fielded "about three" of those calls and has told Ochocinco of his plans to win the game and play Ochocinco, but then he giggles, leaving Ochocinco unsure of exactly what to expect in Sunday's game."
Ochocinco: Revis won't stop me
"You could tell Bengals loquacious receiver Chad Ochocinco has been waiting all season long for the chance to sample his best material on the New York media. The stage was his yesterday via a conference call, and he didn't disappoint. He wasted no time getting right into his anticipated matchup with Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis. "Look here, me and Revis is better than [Manny] Pacquiao and [Floyd] Mayweather, period, case closed," Ochocinco said. "I don't care what anybody is doing Sunday night. If you don't tune in to the game Sunday, you have no life. You [have] never seen a matchup like this ever before. "My friend Darrelle, 'Master Lock' I call him, has [shut down] a lot of great ..."
Chad Ochocinco says he'll pull a 'Fireman Ed' against New York Jets
"The war of words between Chad Ochocinco and Darrelle Revis rages on. Revis, the Jets Pro Bowl CB, did not participate in the early portion of practice Wednesday. In fact, Revis was not seen in the Jets' field house. No explanation yet from the Jets, but maybe Revis is tweeting Ochocinco, who has a running battle with Revis that continued as the day began. On a Wednesday morning conference call, Ochocinco told the New York press he's planning his greatest TD celebration yet off Revis. He says he's going to pull a Fireman Ed, putting on a Bengals fireman helmet and exhorting the crowd on a teammate's shoulder."
It's not only about Ochocinco
"Mr. Humility: It says a lot about how Chad Ochocinco felt about Chris Henry that in his brightest moment yesterday at Qualcomm Stadium, in the spotlight he so craves, the flamboyant Bengals receiver was overtaken by humility. When Ochocinco hauled in a 49-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to give Cincinnati a 10-7 lead, he did nothing that would draw another fine from the NFL. He simply knelt, looked up to the heavens, put his fist to his chest, and quietly repeated one phrase. "I said, 'Eighty-five plus 15 will always be 100 ways to be great,' " Ochocinco said. "It's a little thing we used to say to each other all of the time. I said it over and over and over and over." Ochocinco ..."
Emotions pour from Chad Ochocinco after Bengals' loss to Chargers
"Since Chris Henry's death on Thursday, Chad Ochocinco had been extremely emotional and devastated over the news. He cried when he heard about his friend, and wore a No. 15 jersey during practice on Thursday. He had debated wearing Henry's No. 15 in Sunday's game, but decided against it. But after catching a 49-yard touchdown during the second quarter, the tears started flowing again. After beating Antonio Cromartie in single coverage, Ochocinco hauled in Carson Palmer's pass and then knelt in the end zone and said a little prayer. As he was walking back to the sideline, you could see him tearing up. When asked what he said to himself as he knelt there, Ochocinco said, "85 and 15 will be ..."
Ochocinco might not wear Henry's jersey
"Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco said he might not wear Chris Henry's jersey during Sunday's game at San Diego as a tribute to his late teammate. According to the Bengals' Web site, Ochocinco said he isn't concerned about a potential fine by the NFL but added: "I don't want to be a distraction." Ochocinco said he would work with Bengals Coach Marvin Lewis on the matter, according to the team's Web site. Ochocinco previously said that he might wear Henry's jersey Sunday. The two were close and Ochocinco became emotional when talking to reporters in the Bengals' locker room Thursday about Henry. The NFL Players Association is offering to pay any fine imposed on Ochocinco by ..."
Hit against Ochocinco costs Griffin $10K; 3 more fined
"Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin was fined $10,000 by the NFL for a hit to the head of Cincinnati wide receiver Chad Ochocinco in the fourth quarter of the Vikings' 30-10 victory over the Bengals on Sunday at the Metrodome. Griffin delivered the hit -- which resulted in a penalty for unnecessary roughness -- after Carson Palmer's third-down pass from the Vikings 17-yard line. The pass fell incomplete as Ochocinco's helmet flew off. The NFL announced the fine Friday. That was one of four fines handed out from that game. Vikings tight end Visanthe Shiancoe was docked $5,000 for head-butting cornerback Johnathan Joseph. Joseph, in turn, was fined $5,000 for taunting Shiancoe during the same ..."
Ochocinco calls out Merriman
"If this is all to be believed, and if he had his way, Shawne Merriman would cause the guy to undergo yet another name change. To, say, Ouch-o-cinco? Given the fact that both teams lead their divisions and are closing in on playoff berths with only three weeks remaining, Sunday's game between the Chargers and Cincinnati Bengals shouldn't need any extra hoopla or silliness, certainly not the kind of hyperbolic preamble you might expect of professional wrestling. But since when has Chad Ochocinco, formerly known as Chad Johnson, gone anywhere in the NFL without causing some sort of a ruckus? "I would beat Shawne's head in right now," said Ochocinco yesterday, asked about his feud with the ..."
Ochocinco, Ragnar meet and make nice
"Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco and Vikings mascot Ragnar, aka Joe Juranitch, became the central figures in the hype leading up to Sunday's game when Ochocinco vowed to steal the Vikings' Gjallarhorn from Ragnar. About three hours before kickoff, Ochocinco was eyeing up the horn when Ragnar closed in. The two men hugged, spoke briefly and went their separate ways. During the pregame introductions, Ragnar rode his motorcyle onto the field and stopped at the 50-yard line when he spotted Ochocinco on the sideline. Standing atop his bike, Ragnar held up the horn he had bought to carry on Sunday. He motioned for Ochocinco to come and get it."
Vikings keep Bengals' Chad Ochocinco in check
"Chad Ochocinco is an eccentric motor mouth, an A-list entertainer and a repeat offender to the NFL's etiquette police. But the Bengals wide receiver was nobody's fool after he scored Cincinnati's only touchdown during Sunday's 30-10 loss to the Vikings at the Metrodome. The playmaker formerly known as Chad Johnson celebrated his 15-yard touchdown catch from Carson Palmer in the second quarter without ambushing Ragnar with a mixed-martial arts takedown or tooting the Gjallarhorn, as Ochocinco told reporters he would last week. Not with the Bengals trailing in a game they would never lead, on a day their passing game managed a paltry 103 yards, during a humbling loss that kept them from ..."
With Ochocinco, the circus is in town
"Despite another $67,500 in fines this season, Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco remains forever a happy-go-lucky free spirit in a button-down league that demands conformity. "[The NFL] will keep jacking up the fines," he said, "and I'll keep jacking up the celebrations." A five-time Pro Bowl selection and Cincinnati's career-leading receiver, Ochocinco is both main attraction and sideshow. And get ready, Minnesotans, because this one-man circus is making its first visit to the Metrodome when the Bengals play the Vikings on Sunday. Fresh off a $30,000 fine for donning a poncho and sombrero following a touchdown in last week's victory over Detroit, Ochocinco said Wednesday his best stunt will ..."
For his next end-zone celebration, Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco hopes to blow Vikings' horn
"Hide the horn. Cincinnati receiver Chad Ochocinco has a special celebration planned if he scores Sunday at the Metrodome. Ochocinco, formerly known as Chad Johnson, said he wants to blow the Vikings' famous Gjallarhorn if he scores. "I'm going to steal it from him. What's his name, Ragnar?" Ochocinco said during a playful conference call Wednesday with Twin Cities reporters. "He better give it to me or I'm going to MMA him." Ochocinco, one of the most colorful players in the NFL, was in a good mood when discussing the upcoming game. And Ragnar, the Vikings' mascot, played along. "I don't think he's going to be blowing anything but a lot of hot air by the end of the game," said Joe ..."
Ochocinco fined $30,000 for latest stunt
"The Chad Ochocinco fine count for this year has risen to $67,500. Ochocinco has been fined $30,000 for wearing a poncho and sombrero after scoring a touchdown in Sunday's 23-13 win over Detroit. The league will officially announce the fine on Friday. ESPN.com received a copy of the letter from the league to Ochocinco. The league levied the high fine for what it termed a premeditated and publicized act. Ochocinco mentioned it on his Twitter page before the game. This is the fourth fine of the year for Ochocinco, who was fined $7,500 and $10,000 for chinstrap violations. After the Baltimore game last month he was fined $20,000 for the dollar bill stunt and mentioning the word "bribe" in ..."
Suit: Bengals star Chad Ochocinco bagged car loan
"Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco burned his opponent Sunday for over 100 receiving yards and a touchdown - but he may need a ride to the next game. The player was sued Friday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court by Daimler Chrysler Financial Services, accused of not paying for his 2008 Dodge Challenger. Ochocinco bought the car Aug. 12, 2008, using his former name, Chad Johnson. He paid $55,5487.35 for the vehicle but put $20,000 down on it, getting a loan for $37,975 for the car he bought from Northgate Chrysler Jeep. The suit accuses him of being in default on the loan, having paid $3,200 on the car in 13 months."
Jelling Lions secondary turns in its best performance
"Weak secondary? What weak secondary? The Lions' defensive backs often bear most of the blame for allowing a league-worst 274.8 passing yards per game. But the unit likely had its best performance against Cincinnati on Sunday, when Will James and Anthony Henry had interceptions, and Phillip Buchanon had a sack and forced fumble. The secondary also was a big reason the defense gave up only one offensive touchdown, stopped the Bengals during both drives into the red zone and forced two-time Pro Bowler Carson Palmer to turn in his second-worst passer rating this season. "I thought that, other than the one deep ball we gave up, our secondary played very well yesterday, made a couple picks that ..."
Ochocinco on Lions' Louis Delmas: 'Tell him to sit down'
"Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco, the NFL's biggest showman, began his conference call with Detroit media Wednesday with a question: "Are y'all really ready for me? Are you really, really ready for 85? Because you know I'm live." But the better question: Are the Lions ready? "The Lions?" Ochocinco asked, rhetorically? "Do they roar?" Well, not much lately. And the Bengals' outspoken entertainer seems to be taking that into consideration this week, scaling back his usual trash-talking in advance of Sunday's game at Paul Brown Stadium. Or maybe not. "Child, please," he said, using his signature dismissal. Asked about the Lions' struggling pass defense -- ranked last in the NFL -- ..."
Chad Ochocinco wants Bengals to throw 50 passes against Lions
"Lots of trouble -- or mucho peligro, as Chad Ochocinco might say -- could be headed the Lions' way. After Cincinnati's anemic aerial showing Sunday against Cleveland, the Bengals' top receiver practically threatened a full-scale passing attack against the Lions' weak secondary. Ochocinco caught three passes for 38 yards, and Carson Palmer passed for only 110 yards while the Bengals rushed for 210 yards in a 16-7 win over the Browns. Ochocinco, who leads Cincinnati in receiving with 773 yards and five touchdowns, said he wanted a different offensive focus against the Lions on Sunday. "Now, next week, things are going to have to change," he told the Cincinnati Enquirer. "The roles need to be ..."
Tricks or tweets?
"With college and pro football players around the country getting in trouble over controversial posts on Twitter, the Texans might have found the solution. Twitter user "BrianCushing56" had been posting all season, reflecting on Texans games and life as a rookie. After last Monday's loss to the Titans, tweets read, "the refs killed us last night," and later, "The refs were terrible last night!" On Tuesday, the Texans' media relations department said the account was maintained by an imposter who is not Cushing or anyone associated with the Texans. The account that apparently misled more than 5,000 followers has since been deleted. An elecronic trail showed that Cushing's official Web site ..."
Browns offensive coordinator Brian Daboll thinks Quinn has what it takes to win
"Browns reciever Mohamed Massaquoi, No. 11, celebrates his 59-yard touchdown pass with quarterback Brady Quinn Sunday at Detroit.Browns offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said he has "high hopes" for Brady Quinn's future. "I think he's a smart guy who has all of the intangibles that you look for," said Daboll. "You have to remember, he's a young guy. He's started eight games. If you go back, I am not going to compare him in history, but there's a lot of numbers you can look at. How was Peyton (Manning) going to be after eight games? He had 11 touchdowns, 16 picks, 1-7 [record]. Troy Aikman was 0-8. I don't know where Brady is going to be from now on, but I am happy with the game that he ..."
Ochocinco virtually an Ocho-no show
"Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco gave cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha the silent treatment Sunday. But if looks could talk ... "He never opened his mouth," Asomugha said. "He caught one ball on me; it was a dig. Then he just got up and looked. He just looked. I said, 'Come on, you're a good player, it's going to happen.' " And that was that, as far as the matchup of Pro Bowlers went. Ochocinco caught four passes for 67 yards, including the one for 15 yards against Asomugha. And no Black Hole leaps, as promised, because he didn't score. That doesn't mean the eccentric star was totally quiet. After a game-opening touchdown drive, Ochocinco got on the sideline phone and called the coach's ..."
Ochocinco vs. Asomugha
"In two previous meetings against the Raiders, Chad Ochocinco has posted 100-yard games. In order to make it a three-peat though, he will have to go against one of the best corners in the league in Oakland's Nnamdi Asomugha. While Asomugha doesn't have any interceptions this year, and only has two over the past three seasons, he has a reputation as possibly the best shutdown corners in the game. "I know my corners and there is no one a defensive coordinator feels as comfortable enough to leave on an island on his own and bump and run and let everybody else just play," said Ochocinco of Asomugha. "There's not another corner who has enough confidence to do that right now. He does it, he's ..."
Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco weighs in on the Raiders rookie
"Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has been around long enough to know a thing or two about succeeding in the NFL. His history tells him that the odds don't favor Raiders rookie receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey. Ochocinco wasn't asked specifically about Heyward-Bey, but he left little doubt to whom he was referring when he spoke at length about sure hands. Ochocinco intimated the ability to catch is something a receiver is born with and that learning how to catch after reaching the NFL is a recipe for disaster. "It's natural, man," said Ochocinco, whose Bengals visit the Raiders on Sunday. "You have some people who are just natural pass-catchers and everything is smooth. Then you ..."
Ochocinco is in JaMarcus Russell's corner
"Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has a well-earned reputation for speaking his mind. He said Thursday that benched Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell is a victim of his supporting cast. "Man, JaMarcus is extremely good," Ochocinco said in a conference call with Bay Area media. "You have to remember, a quarterback can only be as good as his supporting cast. Case closed. Always. It will always be that way. Always." Ochocinco said New England's Tom Brady or Indianapolis' Peyton Manning would be struggling just as much as Russell in Oakland's offense, which is ranked 31st in terms of yards and points per game. It doesn't help Russell that he is playing for his second head ..."
Ochocinco fined $20K by NFL
"Chad Ochocinco has been fined $20,000 by the NFL for flashing a dollar bill at an official during a replay challenge -- a joking attempt at a "bribe" -- in last week's Bengals-Ravens game, team and league sources tell ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen. The NFL also cited the Bengals wide receiver's use of the word "bribe" in his postgame comments to reporters. In the third quarter of last Sunday's 17-7 Bengals victory, Cincinnati quarterback Carson Palmer completed a 15-yard pass to Ochocinco. Baltimore challenged the call, contending that he was out of bounds, and the Ravens won the challenge."
