Broncos acquire Quinn from Cleveland for Hillis, draft picks
"The Broncos have acquired quarterback Brady Quinn from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for running back Peyton Hillis, a sixth-round pick in 2011 and a 2012 conditional pick, which will be tied to Quinn's playing time. Kyle Orton remains the Broncos' starting quarterback. The trade is contingent on physicals for Quinn and Hillis. Quinn did have a season-ending foot injury last season. Quinn's departure comes one day after the Browns agreed to terms with free agent Jake Delhomme on a two-year contract. Quinn went 3-9 in 12 starts for Cleveland, which drafted him in the first round of the 2007 draft."
Delhomme in, Quinn likely out
"Browns president Mike Holmgren may have been an NFL coach for 23 years, but he knows a little something about the full-court press. Holmgren appeared determined to find an experienced starting quarterback to run the Browns' new West Coast offense and sounded convinced that ex-Carolina Panther Jake Delhomme was the one he wanted. So Holmgren wooed Delhomme so strongly that Delhomme never made his scheduled visit to New Orleans on Friday and Saturday, according to a league source. On Saturday evening, 11-year veteran Delhomme agreed to terms of a two-year contract with the Browns, the source said. Terms were not disclosed. The Browns do not announce deals until a contract is signed and had ..."
His Browns career at an end, there will be NFL options for Brady Quinn
"Brady Quinn's star-crossed career with the Browns is all but over. He has no future with the team and will be traded or released, possibly as soon as this week. It's hard to believe that a quarterback drafted No. 22 overall in 2007 could be finished with his first team after three years and 12 starts, but that's life in the NFL. It's even harder to believe considering Quinn's background as a native of Dublin, Ohio, who grew up idolizing Bernie Kosar and the Browns, but that's life as a Cleveland Browns quarterback. So where does Quinn wind up? Here are a few possibilities:"
Delhomme in with Browns; Quinn out?
"Former Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme signed on with Cleveland on Saturday, but that doesn't mean the player he's unseating is headed to the Panthers. Despite reports listing Carolina as a potential destination for Browns' quarterback Brady Quinn, a league source told the Observer Saturday night that the Panthers had not shown interest in trying to acquire the former Notre Dame star. Cleveland is expected to try to trade Quinn now that Delhomme has agreed to a two-year deal to compete with Seneca Wallace, who was obtained in a trade last week with Seattle. Quinn has connections to the Panthers. Carolina quarterbacks coach Rip Scherer coached him during his rookie season and Panthers ..."
Source: Panthers not pursuing Quinn
"Though there has been speculation that Carolina might be interested in acquiring Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn, the Panthers so far have shown no interest, according to a league source. The Browns are expected to try to trade Quinn now that former Carolina starter Jake Delhomme has signed, joining fellow newcomer Seneca Wallace, who was obtained from Seattle in a trade last week. The Browns' quarterback position in being overhauled under new team president Mike Holmgren. Already, Derek Anderson was released. Quinn, a 2007 first-round pick, has some natural connections with the Panthers. Quarterbacks coach Rip Scherer coached him his rookie year in Cleveland. Also, Carolina head ..."
Holmgren says Quinn's future with the Browns depends on other QB moves
"Browns President Mike Holmgren said that trade talk for Brady Quinn is "a little premature," but he indicated that Quinn's future with the club depends on acquiring another quarterback. "It all depends on what else we can do," Holmgren told The Plain Dealer on Friday. "We are continuing to look for and evaluate quarterbacks." Holmgren said that he has not closed the door on signing free agent Jake Delhomme, who left the Browns without a contract to visit the New Orleans Saints. Delhomme, 35, is undecided about whether he wants to compete for the Browns' starting job or finish his career as Drew Brees' backup with his hometown team. "Delhomme is an ongoing discussion ... he still is on ..."
Brady Quinn would welcome a trade if he's not a starter
"Former Panthers Pro Bowl quarterback Jake Delhomme is in town and Brady Quinn could be on his way out. Delhomme, 35, who was cut by the Panthers last week, will visit the Browns Thursday in hopes of signing a contract, a league source told The Plain Dealer. Quinn, who's rumored to be on the trading block, would welcome a trade if the team isn't committed to him as their starter. It sure seems right now like the Browns aren't sold on Quinn, who's gone 3-9 in his 12 starts thanks in no small part to all the upheaval here during his career. The Browns have offered Quinn to other teams, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, but a league source told The Plain Dealer that the Browns have not ..."
Sources: Browns may deal Quinn
"One day after the Cleveland Browns released quarterback Derek Anderson, there is mounting evidence around the league that quarterback Brady Quinn could be next. Cleveland has offered Quinn to other teams, league sources said Wednesday. Not only are the Browns looking into a deal for Quinn, but they also are investigating other quarterback options as well. The Browns are exploring the acquisition of another quarterback through trade, free agency or the draft, according to multiple league sources. These talks come at a time when Cleveland already has added former Seattle backup Seneca Wallace."
Holmgren says it's a long shot that both Anderson and Quinn will return in 2010
"Browns President Mike Holmgren is not ready to clarify his nagging quarterback situation, but he admitted Friday that the odds are long that both Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn will be back. "I think it's a long shot," he said after addressing the national media at the NFL Scouting Combine. "Never say never. But I've gone on record as saying I don't want a quarterback competition. They did that last year. And that didn't work out." Holmgren said that "in a perfect world," he would evaluate a quarterback over 32 games in the same system. Quinn has started 12 games in two different systems, Anderson 39 in three. "You can't wait too much longer," he said of choosing a permanent starter. "I ..."
'Huge' decision approaches on quarterback Derek Anderson
"Browns President Mike Holmgren said "there's a good chance" the team will meet with the agents of Derek Anderson here at the NFL Combine and acknowledged that the decision on the quarterback is huge. A key date is March 19, when Anderson's $2 million roster bonus is due. He also has a $7.45 million base salary for 2010, which means they'll probably either release him or try to restructure his contract if he's not the starter. The salary is not guaranteed. A lot could happen before then, with the free agency and trading period opening March 5. It's unlikely that a team would trade for Anderson at his current salary, meaning a release or restructuring is more likely. Holmgren said nothing ..."
Holmgren confirms that doctors and foot specialist concludes Quinn won't need surgery
"Holmgren confirmed that a foot specialist and Browns doctors have concluded that quarterback Brady Quinn will not need surgery on the mid-foot sprain on his left foot. The injury occurred in the Browns' win at Kansas City on Dec. 20 and resulted in Quinn missing the last two games."
Mike Holmgren says Brady Quinn's specialist also recommends no surgery
"Browns president Mike Holmgren said Brady Quinn's foot specialist, Dr. Robert Anderson, also recommended no surgery on the Lisfranc injury in his left foot. "That's what I understand,'' said Holmgren. Holmgren said Quinn will come to Cleveland next week to be examined by the Browns medical staff, but that he still believes surgery will not be necessary. Anderson is located in Charlotte, N.C. A source said Quinn should probably be able to resume football activity within six to 12 weeks if surgery is not required. If surgery is deemed necessary, Quinn would be out a number of months. A Lisfranc injury is either a sprain, a fracture or dislocation of the bones and ligaments in the top ..."
Browns QB Brady Quinn will visit specialist for Lisfranc foot injury
"Brady Quinn has a Lisfranc injury in his left foot and will visit a noted specialist Tuesday to help determine whether or not the Browns quarterback needs surgery, a league source told The Plain Dealer. Quinn, who suffered the injury Dec. 20 in Kansas City, will travel to Charlotte, N.C. to see Dr. Robert Anderson, who recently repaired the Lisfranc injury suffered by Dolphins running back Ronnie Brown. Brown, who had the surgery in late November, is expected back well before the 2010 season. Team president Mike Holmgren he doesn't think Quinn will require surgery, and the source concurred that "the likelihood of surgery is remote." Holmgren said during a conference call Monday, "I met ..."
Quinn may skip surgery on left foot ligaments
"Browns quarterback Brady Quinn might not need surgery for the left foot injury he suffered on a bootleg run late in a Dec. 20 game at Kansas City. But the news about Quinn from Browns president Mike Holmgren today was not all good. Holmgren said Quinn may have a Lisfranc injury, which involves ligaments in the mid-foot and could include a fracture and/or dislocation in that area. ''I just talked with our training staff today,'' Holmgren said on a conference call. ''I don't believe he's going to need surgery. He needs some time, clearly. As far as the specifics of the injury, we can talk about that a little bit tomorrow, but I don't believe he's going to have to have surgery.'' Asked ..."
The QB for 2010? Mangini says that decision awaits Holmgren's 'insight'
"Unlike Romeo Crennel before him, Eric Mangini declined to name a starting quarterback while on the hot seat. "That's the great thing about Mike Holmgren coming in," Mangini said when asked who his starter would be. "He knows a lot about quarterbacks and he'll give a lot of insight on that and I'll be excited to listen to his thoughts on it." Crennel, of course, named Brady Quinn his starter last year before being fired. He was proven correct when Quinn won the job over Derek Anderson after a camp-long battle. Despite taking heat all year for the open competition, Mangini said he wouldn't have done it differently. "No, I wouldn't have," he said. "There were two players that both had really ..."
Cleveland Browns' Brady Quinn on IR for season
"Browns quarterback Brady Quinn has been placed on injured reserve with a right foot injury sustained on his 24 yard run at the end of Sunday's 41-34 victory over Kansas City and will be lost for the season. "It's going to take a little while (to heal),'' said coach Eric Mangini. He said he's not yet certain if he'll undergo surgery. Derek Anderson will start Sunday against the Raiders. Brett Ratliff will be the No. 2 and Josh Cribbs will be the No. 3."
Brady Quinn was good enough not to lose
"Josh Cribbs won the game, running from the neo-single wing formation, the wildcat, with a savagery usually associated with the opposing Pittsburgh Steelers. The defense won the game, confusing veteran Ben Roethlisberger, freezing him in indecision and then sacking him once, and then again and again and again and again and again and again and --Who would ever call off those Dawgs? -- again. The quarterback, Brady Quinn, did not lose the game. That seems to be his mandate now. Don't turn it over. Don't turn into Roethlisberger or former Brown Charlie Frye, getting sacked like canned goods at Heinen's. On a night when the wind screamed like the polar express and made passing difficult and ..."
Browns QB Brady Quinn vs. Steelers CB Joe Burnett
"For a team that had scored just five offensive touchdowns in the previous 15 games, Brady Quinn's sudden offensive production as the Cleveland Browns' quarterback must look like a volcanic eruption. And, based on the number of big plays and second-half passing yards surrendered by the Steelers during a four-game losing streak, the prospect for more touchdowns should be tantalizing for the league's worst offense. After all, if the Steelers can allow 27 points each to the Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders -- the 30th- and 31st-ranked offenses, respectively, in the NFL -- there is good reason to suspect that even the anemic Browns can muster a touchdown or three against a listing ..."
Brady Quinn's excited by Steelers week, but also by improvement in Browns' offense
"Brady Quinn has dreamed of this moment since he was a little boy running around Dublin, Ohio in his Bernie Kosar jersey -- playing the Steelers. "It's fun for me," said Quinn. "My first time, finally getting to play a team you rooted against growing up and everything, being from Ohio." Quinn didn't hate one particular Steeler more than another, but "I wasn't really fond of any of them. That's usually how it works." Fortunately for Quinn, he heads into his debut against the Steelers Thursday night with a modicum of success. Over the past three games, Quinn has thrown seven touchdowns against no interceptions while running the no-huddle offense. His rating during that span is 93.4, including ..."
Seriously, Browns quarterback Brady Quinn may get last laugh
"Brady Quinn can't save the Browns' season, but he can position himself as next season's starting quarterback with a strong finish in 2009. Guys like Brady Quinn always get the girl. Now, we find out if he also gets the last laugh in a somber season. My definition: He improbably positions himself as next year's starter while the coach who benched him Vaudeville-style awaits the hiring of a football executive to decide his own fate. For Quinn, that's what I'd call leaving the stage on a "Good night, everybody" high note. When Derek Anderson took over for Quinn, I thought that if he had prolonged success he could salvage Eric Mangini's mishandling of the quarterbacks -- maybe even enough ..."
Browns offensive coordinator Brian Daboll thinks Quinn has what it takes to win
"Browns reciever Mohamed Massaquoi, No. 11, celebrates his 59-yard touchdown pass with quarterback Brady Quinn Sunday at Detroit.Browns offensive coordinator Brian Daboll said he has "high hopes" for Brady Quinn's future. "I think he's a smart guy who has all of the intangibles that you look for," said Daboll. "You have to remember, he's a young guy. He's started eight games. If you go back, I am not going to compare him in history, but there's a lot of numbers you can look at. How was Peyton (Manning) going to be after eight games? He had 11 touchdowns, 16 picks, 1-7 [record]. Troy Aikman was 0-8. I don't know where Brady is going to be from now on, but I am happy with the game that he ..."
Browns' Quinn backs Weis
"Brady Quinn is coming off his best game in the NFL, but the man he considers most instrumental in his development might be fired in a matter of days. So the Browns' starting quarterback stood up for embattled Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis Wednesday, even though Saturday's season finale at Stanford might be Weis' last game with Notre Dame. The Irish are 6-5, and Weis is 35-26 in five seasons. ''Personally, I think it would be a horrible decision if they did make that change,'' Quinn said. ''I think there's a lot of circumstances that play into a season like this. Hopefully he'll have another opportunity with the guys.'' When Weis and Quinn were together in 2005-06, Notre Dame went 19-6 and ..."
Repentant Mangini admits frustration, apologizes for Lions criticism
"On second thought, Eric Mangini said his accusations that the Lions faked injuries last Sunday were the result of frustration with the last-second loss. "It wasn't like I was trying to shy away from accountability," the Browns coach said. "At the end of the day, we're accountable for losing the game. [I was] frustrated with the situation. I probably expressed that more than I should. We had plenty of opportunities to win the game and we didn't. That wasn't good enough." A day after the Browns lost a heartbreaker to Detroit, 38-37, Mangini suggested the Lions faked injuries on defense to slow down the Browns' no-huddle offense. Lions coach Jim Schwartz, who broke into the NFL with ..."
Was revived Cleveland Browns offense just a Motor City Mirage?
"For one Sunday at least this season, Chansi Stuckey (top), Mohamed Massaquoi and the rest of the Browns' offense could enjoy a productive effort on the field. But the Lions' woeful defense was likely a far easier foil than facing the Bengals this Sunday.BEREA, Ohio -- The Browns' offense in Detroit was an overnight sensation 12 months in the making. They scored three touchdowns in the first quarter after scoring five in the previous 15 games. They didn't have a touchdown by a wide receiver in 385 days, and then produced three in 15 minutes. Their 37 points exceeded the combined total of their previous five games. Their 439 total offensive yards were their most in 40 games. Fans were ..."
Cribbs says last-play lateral call came from Quinn, not Mangini
"Browns receiver Josh Cribbs confirmed Wednesday his lateral on the final play against the Ravens was not a coach's call, but rather a directive from quarterback Brady Quinn to keep the ball alive. The play resulted in a neck injury to Cribbs, one that kept him out of practice Wednesday and might prevent him from playing in Detroit on Sunday. "It was a call at the line," Cribbs said. "It wasn't a call that came in from the coaches. Brady had let us know to keep the ball alive, that he was going to throw the slant to me at the line and he gave the signal to keep it alive." After a 10-yard catch, Cribbs flipped the ball to Robert Royal and was immediately drilled under the chin by Baltimore's ..."
Quinn still struggling to move on; QB is fined for hit, apologizes yet again
"Brady Quinn reported to work Wednesday with the image of his illegal hit on Baltimore linebacker Terrell Suggs still in his mind and a letter from the NFL reminding him of it. The league fined Quinn for the hit on Suggs, which came after he threw an interception to cornerback Chris Carr in the 16-0 loss to Baltimore on Monday night. Suggs may miss several games with an injury to his right knee. ESPN.com reported the fine was $10,000. The hit and injury to Suggs was the lowest point of what may have been the worst game of Quinn's playing career at any level. In the five NFL games Quinn has started and finished, Monday night's produced lows in completions (13), passing yards (99) and passer ..."

Browns QB Brady Quinn fined for low hit on Baltimore Ravens LB Terrell Suggs
"Browns quarterback Brady Quinn said this morning that he had been fined by the NFL for low hit on Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs during the Browns' 16-0 loss on Monday night at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Quinn had been penalized on the play as he hit Suggs around the knees following an interception by Chris Carr. Suggs limped off after the play and didn't return. Several Baltimore players were critical of Quinn for what they called a "cheap shot.""
Lewis asks NFL to fine Browns' Quinn for hit on Suggs
"At the end of a game punctuated by at least three disconcerting injuries, the Ravens' Ray Lewis asked the NFL to drop the hammer on Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn for his low bridge on Terrell Suggs. Lewis, who drew a $25,000 fine from the league for two incidents in the Ravens' Oct 11 game against the Cincinnati Bengals, said the hit on Suggs after a third-quarter interception was a dirty play. "Heck yeah, it was a cheap shot, when you're running down and you're looking at the quarterback going at somebody's knees who doesn't even have the ball," Lewis said after Baltimore's 16-0 win over the Browns on Monday night. "I want to see if he gets the same fine I got or even higher. ..."
Ray Lewis accuses Cleveland Browns' Brady Quinn of cheap shot
"Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis accused Browns quarterback Brady Quinn of "a cheap shot'' when Quinn dove low after an interception and knocked linebacker Terrell Suggs out of the game with a knee injury. "Heck yeah it was a cheap shot," Lewis told reporters after the Ravens' 16-0 win. "When you're running down and you're looking at the quarterback going at somebody's knees who doesn't even have the ball. I want to see if he gets the same fine I got or even higher. Now this man is out four or five weeks because of some baloney like that. That's an illegal blow. I don't care how you want to look at it.'' After Suggs went down, Quinn went over and talked to him. Quinn also wore a pained ..."
Quinn returns to starting quarterback
"Brady Quinn was practically working the room. Smiling wide, laughing and joking with teammate Robert Royal in the locker room before practice Wednesday, Quinn was obviously elated to have again been elevated to starting status as the Browns' quarterback. ''I'm excited to play,'' said Quinn, who met with coach Eric Mangini late Tuesday and learned the news. ''I'm excited to be part of Monday Night (Football).'' The change in Quinn's demeanor from quietly dressing in front of his locker like he has the past six weeks while serving as the team's backup to the more outgoing persona Wednesday, seemed as drastic as has been Mangini's carousel approach to the most important offensive position on ..."
Quinn's time is now Browns fans
"From tall in the saddle to a Shetland pony, Brady Quinn rides again. People will go to the stadium Monday not to see if Quinn can establish himself as the future of the franchise -- that parade float already passed -- but whether given Eric Mangini's handling of his quarterbacks they'll be curious to see if Quinn can make it all the way to the second quarter without anybody warming up in the pen. The endorsement for Quinn returning to the job: He had a couple good weeks of practice. Based on that, good luck having the fans stay outside the stadium if the Browns win the opening kickoff, Dawg Pound Mike. (I have a friend who wrote a book. It got sent to a famous NFL broadcaster for an ..."
Brady Quinn named starter against Ravens
"With eight games to go and careers possibly hinging on their outcomes, Browns coach Eric Mangini is turning his historically bad offense over to Brady Quinn again. Quinn, who was demoted after the first 2 1/2 games, officially was given the job to restart the Browns' second half of the season Monday night against the Baltimore Ravens. How long will he last this time? "With any of these decisions, I'm not looking to change," Mangini said. "That's never the intention." Quinn was staggered by his first benching at any level of football in September. But he said he won't be looking over his shoulder this time. "Why should there be a concern?" he said. "I've been through it before. I ..."
Browns put Quinn back in starting role
"Brady Quinn is getting his second chance at starting. Quinn, benched just 10 quarters into the season for Derek Anderson, will start Monday night's game against Baltimore. He was pulled at halftime of the Browns' 34-3 loss to Baltimore on Sept. 27 and will make his return against one of the NFL's toughest defenses. "I'm excited to play," he said. "Every team in the NFL is tough - them especially. We've got our hands full right now." Coach Eric Mangini decided to go back to Quinn after Anderson went 1-4 as a starter and posted the NFL's lowest quarterback rating (36.2). Mangini said he would like to stick with Quinn for the remainder of the season. BILLS: Buffalo is going back to ..."
Brady Quinn will start MNF vs. Baltimore Ravens
"Browns coach Eric Mangini today named Brady Quinn the starting quarterback for Monday night's game against the Ravens at Cleveland Browns Stadium. Quinn replaces Derek Anderson, who went 1-4 in his five starts. "He's had good weeks of practice,'' said Mangini. "He's worked hard since the first transition was made. I look forward to him taking advantage of this opportunity and helping us improve.'' Quinn went 0-3 in his three starts, getting pulled at halftime of the 34-3 loss to the Ravens in Week 3."
Browns' Brady Quinn likely to start Monday
"This Browns quarterback carousel has Brady Quinn seeing purple. Quinn started against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3 and was benched after falling behind, 20-0, in the first half. Now Quinn is expected to be exhumed as the starter when the Ravens come to Cleveland Browns Stadium on Monday night. The official word should come Wednesday from coach Eric Mangini. ESPN.com reported two unidentified sources said Quinn "likely" will be Mangini's choice to kick off the rest of the season for the 1-7 Browns. This should be welcome news to the Ravens. After they moved to 3-0 by dispatching the Browns, 34-3, the Ravens lost four of their next five games to hit their halfway mark at 4-4. Two of those ..."
Sources: Browns to go with Quinn
"The Browns are not making an official announcement regarding their quarterback situation until Wednesday. But two sources said the team is expected to name Brady Quinn the starting quarterback for Monday night's game at Baltimore against the Ravens. Quinn started Cleveland's first three games before Mangini switched to Anderson for the fourth game against the Cincinnati Bengals."
Mangini says decision nearly made, but he won't reveal Cleveland Browns QB
"Like Vikings coach Brad Childress and Bengals coach Marvin Lewis before him, Ravens coach John Harbaugh will have to sweat it out for a few days before finding out who the Browns' starting quarterback is going to be next Monday night. Eric Mangini, still looking for any shred of a competitive advantage, said Monday he'll wait until Wednesday to announce his starting quarterback for the rematch against the Ravens at the stadium. "I know where I'm headed, but we'll talk about that on Wednesday," he said. "I haven't sat down with the quarterbacks about it yet, so that's part of it. We'll talk about that in conjunction with our work on the Ravens." Brady Quinn, who might get the chance to ..."
Browns' Eric Mangini will announce QB decision Wednesday
"Cleveland Browns coach Eric Mangini said today that he'll wait until Wednesday to announce his decision on a starting quarterback for the Ravens game next Monday night. "I know where I'm headed, but we'll talk about that on Wednesday,'' he said. "I haven't talked to the quarterbacks about it yet, so that's part of it.' Derek Anderson is last in the NFL with a 36.2 rating and has thrown only two touchdown passes against nine interceptions and could be replaced by Brady Quinn."
Browns coach Eric Mangini says he's sticking with Derek Anderson
"Browns coach Eric Mangini said Monday he's sticking with Derek Anderson despite the fact he's the lowest rated passer in the NFL with a 40.6 rating. Mangini said he still thinks Anderson "gives us the best chance right now to move the ball. I know his numbers haven't been impressive, but he hasn't been alone in producing those numbers.'' He cited the dropped passes over the previous few weeks. He also pointed to good plays such as the 21-yard pass to tight end Michael Gaines to the Green Bay 1 that almost went for a touchdown. Mangini also stressed that not using Brady Quinn has nothing to do with keeping him from getting 70% of the plays, which would trigger $10.9 million in contract ..."
Browns' offensive miseries won't alter Eric Mangini's stance that Brady Quinn isn't the answer
"Eric Mangini's reconstruction project has produced an expansion team. And Brady Quinn still can't get his uniform dirty on Sundays? Not even during a game that approached the Pittsburgh Christmas Eve fiasco for outright ineptitude on the field and despair in the bleachers? In Green Bay's 31-3 win Sunday, Mangini ignored the chants that went up for Quinn late in the first half after Derek Anderson threw an interception to go along with a fumbled snap at the goal line. That was understandable. I mean, what coach pulls his starter at halftime after committing to him with first-team snaps all week? Oh, right. Mangini did that to Quinn in Baltimore. Mangini said Sunday he never considered ..."
Lack of snaps may cost Quinn millions
"Not only is Cleveland quarterback Brady Quinn disappointed with his playing status, but the former first-round pick could lose millions if he doesn't play this weekend against the Green Bay Packers. According to Quinn's contract, he needs to play 70 percent of Cleveland's offensive snaps this year to earn two bonuses worth a combined $10.95 million. Quinn played 2½ games (10 quarters) this season before being benched in favor of Derek Anderson. Depending on the amount of offensive snaps the Browns take this weekend, Quinn could fall under the 70-percent threshold by sitting on the sidelines Sunday against the Packers. Quinn would miss a $5 million bonus this year without the playing-time ..."
Coach warms to Anderson; Quinn out in cold
"Browns quarterback Brady Quinn might still be on the roster when the trading deadline passes at 4 p.m. today, but it doesn't mean he'll be playing anytime soon regardless of how bad the offense has performed. Whenever the subject of Quinn replacing Derek Anderson is broached, coach Eric Mangini crushes it like a grape. Following Sunday's 27-14 loss to the Steelers, Mangini said, "I'm not looking to make a move [at quarterback], no." So, not only will Quinn be stuck in Cleveland even though he'd most likely welcome a trade, he'll be stuck on the bench for the foreseeable future. Hey, if you can't get playing time despite a starter who has tumbled to last in the NFL with a 41.7 rating - ..."
Browns' Quinn seeks new home, not team
"Brady Quinn made it clear that he's downsizing his living quarters but not his expectations. "I think I'm good enough to play in this league," he said. He confirmed his sprawling home in Avon Lake has been put up for sale, but maintained it has nothing to do with his demotion, the upcoming NFL trade deadline or his unhappiness about the path his career has taken in his third season. "I'm a guy who doesn't want to continue driving 30 minutes to the facility every day," Quinn said. "I'm a bachelor who lives in a house that has maybe too much upkeep for me. There's other reasons [to sell] outside of what everyone likes to believe." Would he welcome a trade? "It's tough to put out a ..."
Eric Mangini: 'We're not looking to move Brady Quinn'
"Browns coach Eric Mangini said during his press conference this morning, "We're not looking to move Brady Quinn.'' He said he's talked to Quinn and "He's focused on Pittsburgh.'' Mangini also said, "We get calls all the time that we listen to, but Brady is a Cleveland Brown and it's not anything we're looking to do.'' The question to Mangini about Quinn's status was prompted by growing speculation that Quinn would like to go somewhere where he can start. The trading deadline is next Tuesday at 4 p.m. Quinn's house was put up for sale on Tuesday, fueling speculation that he might be on the move."
With NFL trade deadline approaching, are Cleveland Browns dangling Brady Quinn?
"Tracy Boulian/The Plain DealerWith the NFL trading deadline a week away, is it possible that Brady Quinn's final start for the Cleveland Browns was a struggling half of work in a lopsided loss to Baltimore last month?BEREA, Ohio -- Could Brady Quinn be the next first-round pick to go? With the trading deadline looming Oct. 20, it wouldn't be surprising if Quinn went the way of Braylon Edwards and was dealt to another team. Browns coach Eric Mangini made it clear Monday that he's sticking with Derek Anderson despite a 2-of-17 performance for 23 yards, one interception and a 15.1 rating against Buffalo. "D.A. will continue to start," said Mangini, in no uncertain terms. That means Quinn ..."
Brady Quinn led the Browns to their last win, but he's back on the bench
"Whatever one thinks about Brady Quinn's abilities as a quarterback, it seems that this is a reasonable statement: The opportunities he's had as the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback have been few, short-term and not without adversity around him. Quinn quarterbacked the Browns to their last win, 29-27, over the Bills on a Monday night last Nov. 17 in Buffalo. That made Cleveland and coach Romeo Crennel 4-6. Quinn suffered what eventually turned into a season-ending injury on that night, though, and Crennel was fired at season's end. Now, the Browns are on a 10-game losing streak and 0-4 this season as they again go into Buffalo. Sunday, though, it will be Derek Anderson at quarterback ..."
Quinn is out and Anderson is in
"Brady Quinn's star-crossed tenure as the starting quarterback of his boyhood favorite team has lasted all of three weeks. Quinn has been replaced by Derek Anderson for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Quinn, who grew up in Dublin, Ohio, was the eighth quarterback to open a season for the Browns in 11 years. Now he's the sixth one to be benched for reasons other than injury. But, wait. There's no guarantee this will be the last change. There's still Brett Ratliff to try. In making the announcement, coach Eric Mangini said Anderson would start "this week." He would not elaborate when pressed on how long Anderson will have the job. Asked if the quarterback position is now on ..."
