Arizona's receiver duo are too much for the Seahawks to handle
"It was late in the first quarter when the advantage became strikingly unfair. Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner threw a short pass to his left, Anquan Boldin caught it and proceeded to turn Seahawks cornerback Kelly Jennings into a traffic cone. Jennings tried to hug Boldin's leg, but the receiver stepped through the tackle easily, cut inside of safety Brian Russell and created a 45-yard gain out of a dinky throw. The play set up the Cardinals' first touchdown in a 26-20 victory at Qwest Field that choked the NFC West supremacy out of the Seahawks. All game, Boldin and partner Larry Fitzgerald whipped the Seattle cornerbacks with their superior size and rare skill. For that reason, the ..."
Cards' Boldin likely to play Sunday
"Though they didn't make any promises, coach Ken Whisenhunt and receiver Anquan Boldin both indicated that Boldin is likely to play Sunday when the Cardinals visit Carolina. "We'll see how 'Q' feels when we get to Carolina," Whisenhunt said. "It looks good. He's had a good week of practice. He's done just about everything." At the same time, "I don't want to say for sure that he's going to play until we actually travel there." Boldin had the same outlook: "I'm feeling good. I hope nothing changes until game time.""
Cards notebook: Boldin says body will let him know if he'll play
"Though he made no promises, Anquan Boldin sounded like somebody who intends to play on Sunday. Boldin, who is recovering from facial fractures suffered on a big hit in a game against the New York Jets three weeks ago, practiced on Wednesday, then said, "I'm going to take it one day at a time. "Hopefully, everything plays out to my liking. … Everything felt good. I kind of head-butted some guys to see how it feels. I didn't feel any pressure from it." Boldin knows he could get hit in the same place after he takes the field. "My feeling is, if it's going to happen, it's going to happen. I can't go the whole game worrying about it. … Then you haven't played to your full potential." In ..."
Cards' Boldin cleared to return to action
"Receiver Anquan Boldin was cleared Tuesday by his surgeon to return to action, but it's not a given that he will play Sunday against the Panthers in Carolina. Some folks in Carolina, however, expect to see No. 81 in uniform. "I would be 100 percent shocked if I don't see Anquan Boldin on the field Sunday," Panthers quarterback Jake Delhomme said in a conference call Wednesday with Arizona reporters. "Josh McCown, who's here with us, said, 'I promise you he's going to be on the field.' " McCown played with the Cardinals and remains good friends with Boldin. "I've been talking to Josh all week and he's been messing with me about it," Boldin said. "He told me to sit out one more week." ..."

Boldin returns to practice, hopes to return Sunday
"Anquan Boldin was back working out with his teammates Monday after missing two games with a head injury, and hopes to play Sunday at Carolina. Boldin said he hopes to get wires taken out of his mouth today and get clearance from doctors. He said he suffered a concussion from the helmet-to-helmet hit by New York Jets defender Eric Smith on Sept. 28 and had fractures on both sides of his face. "I'm a lot better," Boldin said, adding he's regained the 10 pounds or so he lost after the surgical procedure he underwent to repair the sinus fractures. Boldin reiterated that he won't change his approach or the way he plays the game. He also indicated he harbors no ill will toward Smith, who was ..."
Boldin hopes to play vs. Panthers
"A concussion. Two facial fractures. One surgery to install eight plates to fix the fractures and towires to realign his bite. And no pain medication. Not one pill. "I don't do pain meds," Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin said Monday. His cheeks still swollen and with wires wrapped around the inside of his mouth, Boldin practiced for the first time Monday since suffering the vicious hit Sept. 28 against the Jets. He then talked with reporters for the first time since undergoing surgery on Oct. 2. "I feel like I'm ready to go," said Boldin, who has missed the past two games. "That's what I've been working toward the past couple weeks, getting back on the field after the bye week, so ..."
Boldin doesn't want hit to affect Warner
"The hit suffered by receiver Anquan Boldin against the Jets three weeks ago prompted Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner to contemplate retirement, but Boldin said he didn't want that to factor into Warner's decision about his future. "I talked to him," Boldin said, "but I really hope that doesn't play into his decision. It's football. Unfortunate incidents happen whenever you play this game. That's a risk you take. We all know what we're getting ourselves into when we sign up for this game, and I hope he (Warner) doesn't let anything like that end his career." Changing times No team in the NFL should dwell on what people think of it, because opinions are sure to change quickly. Two weeks ..."
Cards' receivers stepping up in Boldin's absence
"Cardinals fans know to expect the unexpected, and Sunday's wacky overtime victory against Dallas only furthered that sentiment. So should fans have been surprised by the Cardinals' success through the air, despite being in want of one Anquan Boldin for the second straight week? Not if they have been paying attention. Larry Fitzgerald hauled in five catches for 79 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win. On the opening play of the fourth quarter, Fitzgerald was in double coverage when he elevated above the defensive backs in signature fashion and brought down a jump ball that would eventually lead to a Steve Breaston touchdown. "You have to trust Larry to do that," coach Ken Whisenhunt said. ..."
With Boldin out, Cards' other wideouts fill in nicely
"Steve Breaston, Jerheme Urban and Early Doucet know one thing. As long as they're catching passes, Kurt Warner will keep throwing them. With Anquan Boldin out following nasal surgery, the remaining trio more than made up for their temporarily lost Pro Bowler. For the second week in a row, Breaston bolstered the Cardinals' passing game opposite Larry Fitzgerald, with seven receptions for a team-high 77 yards in the Cardinals' 41-17 victory against Buffalo on Sunday. That's 16 receptions for 199 yards in the past two games for Breaston, whose improvement was raved about by coaches and teammates during minicamp, and they're still going. "I'm feeling better about him, where in tough situations ..."
Boldin’s absence could embolden Bills corners covering Fitzgerald
"1. Talented twosome not in place Why does QB Kurt Warner rank third in passing yards and own the fifth-best passer rating? He was throwing to the most prolific receiving tandem in the NFL, that’s why. Anquan Boldin is tied for third in catches (27), is fifth in yards (366) and first in touchdowns (five). Larry Fitzgerald is tied for eighth in catches (24), ranks third in yards (415) and is tied for second with six catches over 20 yards. Boldin (6-foot-1, 217 pounds) and Fitzgerald (6-3, 220) are big, physical, athletic and a matchup nightmare for defensive backs. But Boldin is out after taking a blow to the head last week. His absence is a huge break for the Bills, who can focus their ..."
Boldin has surgery to repair fractured facial bone
"Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin has had surgery to repair a facial bone that was fractured in a helmet-to-helmet hit during last Sunday's game against the New York Jets. Coach Ken Whisenhunt isn't sure when his standout player will return, but he has been ruled out of Sunday's home game against the Buffalo Bills. Whisenhunt said the surgeon who operated on Boldin Thursday night told him that a hockey player who underwent the procedure was playing 10 days later. "And that's a violent sport, too," Whisenhunt said Friday. "The doctor felt like it would give him the quickest chance to get back.""
Cardinals' Boldin will not play today
"Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin yesterday was officially ruled out of today's game following surgery on a facial bone fractured in a helmet-to-helmet hit last Sunday against the New York Jets. Coach Ken Whisenhunt said the surgeon who operated on Boldin's fractured sinus told him that a hockey player who underwent a similar procedure was playing 10 days later. But Boldin will not play in today's home game against the Buffalo Bills. The NFL suspended Jets safety Eric Smith for one game and fined him $50,000 for the hit . . . Bills starting cornerback Terrence McGee won't play today against the Cardinals because of a sprained left knee suffered in the first quarter of Buffalo's ..."
Boldin undergoes surgery
"Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin underwent a surgical procedure Thursday evening to repair a sinus fracture, and it's unknown when he will return to action. Boldin suffered the injury in last week's game against the Jets and has been ruled out of Sunday's game against the Bills at University of Phoenix Stadium. The doctor who performed the surgery told coach Ken Whisenhunt that a hockey player who underwent the procedure was playing after 10 days. "And that's a violent sport, too," Whisenhunt said. "The doctor felt like it would give him the quickest chance to get back." The Cardinals play the Cowboys at home next week before an off week."
