Tennessee Titans Trade Rumors

CJ contract extension? Not so fast, says Fisher
"Any plans Chris Johnson has for a renegotiated contract are "premature," according to Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher. Fisher, speaking from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., site of Sunday's Super Bowl, told WGFX-FM 104.5 The Zone that Johnson would likely have to wait regarding any extension, especially with a contract that contains three more seasons currently. "We've done things prior to players going into the last year of their contract. For me to come out right now, it's way too premature to say we have any intention of doing anything for CJ," Fisher said. Johnson, the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year, ran for 2,006 yards this past season, just his second in the league, and said at ..."
Dwight Freeney makes pitch for Keith Bulluck
"If the Titans don't re-sign Keith Bulluck, All-Pro defensive end Dwight Freeney would like to see the veteran linebacker finish his career with the Colts. "To have a guy who has the experience that he does around the locker room … that would be a tremendous help,'' Freeney said Wednesday. Bulluck and Freeney were teammates at Syracuse and remain friends. Bulluck, recovering from ACL surgery, is slated to become a free agent in March if the Titans don't re-sign him. "He is a tremendous athlete, tremendous talent, and a great guy off the field and I am definitely pulling for him, hoping that his knee comes back together, which I know it will," Freeney said. "Keith has worked so hard at what ..."
Titans add linebacker off waivers
"The Titans claimed former Cardinals linebacker Pago Togafau off waivers Wednesday. He played in Arizona's final two regular-season games, making six tackles. The third-year pro has also spent time with the Eagles and Saints, and in 15 games has 24 tackles. The Titans head into the offseason with questions at linebacker, as Keith Bulluck and Stephen Tulloch are scheduled to be free agents and David Thornton is coming off shoulder surgery."
Titans add to roster
"The Tennessee Titans made four minor additions to the roster, reportedly claiming linebacker Pago Togafau off waivers from the Arizona Cardinals and signing three players to futures contracts. The Titans added a pair of defensive ends in Marcus Howard of Georgia and Jay Moore of Nebraska and also signed tackle Nevin McCaskill, who played at Hampton."
Once again, Titans' Nickey plays free agent waiting game
"In the NFL, Donnie Nickey is a survivor. Through seven pro seasons now he has made it as a Tennessee Titan, primarily because of his work on special teams. In those seven seasons, Nickey has just seven career starts at safety, including one this year when Michael Griffin was shaken up on the opening kickoff against Indianapolis. The other six came in the 2004 season. Twice before Nickey has been a free agent. In fact, in his rookie season, he was cut from the roster for one week when the Titans had issues and needed an extra punter. But Nickey has always found his way back to the Titans, and for the past few years has been Tennessee's special teams captain as well. "This is the third time ..."
Titans analysis: Don't look for Fisher at USC
"With Pete Carroll on the verge of accepting the head coaching job with the Seattle Seahawks, speculation has been quick to rise regarding Jeff Fisher and the soon-to-be vacancy at his alma mater, Southern California. Don't buy into it. And here's why. First, Fisher is under contract with the Titans through 2011 and is one of the NFL's highest-paid coaches during that time. Besides, Fisher has, if not autonomous control over the Titans' on-field and front office moves, at least the strongest position inside the organization when comes to making the decisions he deems in the best interest of the club. A coach who likes to be in control of situations regarding his team the way Fisher does, is ..."
Don't buy the Fisher-to-USC talk
"Pete Carroll's not even out the door at Southern Cal and already the rumor mill has cranked out Titans Coach Jeff Fisher's name as a possible replacement. But don't bet on it happening. Carroll looks like he could be a done deal in Seattle, where he'd replace Jim Mora, who was fired on Friday after a 5-11 season. Carroll has enjoyed enormous success at USC, but it might be time to get out. The Trojans have plummeted back to earth, and there's talk of NCAA sanctions on the horizon. I figured it would only be a matter of time before Fisher's name came up, along with Jaguars Coach Jack Del Rio. They both starred at USC, of course. College coaches like Mike Riley and Jim Harbaugh have already ..."
Titans should pursue Cribbbs
"The Titans enter the offseason in need of a return man. Josh Cribbs wants a new NFL home. Perhaps the two sides, along with the Cleveland Browns, should break some bread in the coming weeks, months. This week, Cribbs said it is unlikely that he returns to Cleveland - this after the Browns' latest contract offer, reportedly at $1.4 million a year for six years. Cribbs' representatives have said they will push for a trade, and plenty of NFL teams should be interested in the Pro Bowler. The Titans should also be interested. While the offseason departure of Albert Haynesworth is well-documented, the loss of return man Chris Carr had a similar impact. The Titans kickoff return unit transformed ..."
Knee injury won't hurt Keith Bulluck's asking price
"By now you've probably heard the theory about linebacker Keith Bulluck, and how the Titans might benefit from his season-ending knee injury.

It goes like this: As a free agent coming off a torn ACL, teams might be less willing to throw money at him, so the Titans could re-sign him at a bargain price. The 10th-year pro's agent isn't buying it. "I'm not concerned or worried about anything in regard to Keith,'' Gary Wichard said. "Every guy's running around with some kind of scar on him. He'll be in great shape, work hard, and be ready to go. And he'll be a highly paid player next year, too. Plenty of people know about Keith Bulluck and what he can do.'' Bulluck ..."

Johnson's pursuit of 2,000 yards adds suspense to meaningless finale
"The quest at Qwest is the only meaningful aspect left to the Tennessee Titans' 2009 season after their Christmas night 42-17 shellacking courtesy of the San Diego Chargers at LP Field. That "quest" of course is running back Chris Johnson's pursuit to become the sixth running back in NFL history to reach 2,000 yards rushing in a season. Johnson recorded his 10th consecutive 100-yard rushing game on Friday night, going for 142 yards on 21 carries with one touchdown. That gives him 1,872 yards for the season, leaving him needing to rush for 128 yards Jan. 3 against the Seattle Seahawks in order to reach the milestone. "That record would mean a lot to me," Johnson said. "That was one of my ..."
Bears' next coach should be like Mike (Heimerdinger)
"Mike Heimerdinger should be the odds-on favorite to become the Bears' next coach if the McCaskey family gives fans the greatest gift of all -- a replacement for Lovie Smith. Smith wasn't going anywhere. That was the perception in coaching circles before Jerry Angelo left the door wide open for a coaching change before the massacre Sunday in Baltimore. Now the coaching community is buzzing with the possibility of a new head man in Chicago, and the Tennessee Titans' offensive coordinator is emerging as the most logical choice. The biggest decisions the franchise will make when the season ends must be made with Jay Cutler in mind. The Bears have lashed their future to the slumping ..."
Keith Bulluck: 'I don't know' about future
"Keith Bulluck never envisioned a parade or a salute on the LP Field video screens. But if this was it — if the veteran linebacker has in fact played his last game as a Titan — he never thought it would end with him grimacing in pain, helped off the field because of a season-ending knee injury. "It's unfortunate," Bulluck said Tuesday night. "My football season is over right now. I have to get surgery, and I am not under contract with any team. So I don't know what's going to happen next. "But you know what? I still like my odds, and I always bet on myself. I'm a born winner. I have been in too many situations in my 32 years to lose. Things are going to work out for me. I'll be all right.'' ..."
Vince Young practices, will be game-time decision
"With an audience of underprivileged children looking on after Friday's practice, Titans quarterback Vince Young served as conductor for the rookie class performance of Jingle Bells. Indications are Young also will lead the Titans against Miami. Young participated in the full practice Friday as the Titans wrapped up preparations for Sunday's game at LP Field. The injured right hamstring that kept him out of Wednesday's practice and limited him Thursday looked to be adequately healed. Coach Jeff Fisher didn't name Young the starter, however, leaving some doubt as to whether the fourth-year pro is 100 percent ready to return to the lineup. Young is designated as questionable on the team's ..."
Jevon Kearse's record may fall
"Titans defensive end Jevon Kearse said he hasn't paid much attention to Redskins rookie Brian Orakpo. That might change now that the University of Texas product is within reach of Kearse's rookie sack record. Orakpo had four sacks Sunday at Oakland, increasing his total to 11. Kearse set his mark of 14½ during the Titans' Super Bowl season of 1999. "I haven't really been following this kid," Kearse said, "so I need to check him out." RelatedVince Young takes 'huge step' for TitansKearse said the challenge in transforming from an All-American pass rusher to Pro Bowl player is evolution. "You may get them in the first couple of games, but after that, everybody is watching film and you're not ..."
Vince Young takes 'huge step' for Titans
"Titans quarterback Vince Young returned to the practice field Thursday, but he wasn't ready to make any guarantees about his playing status for Sunday's game against the Dolphins. Without question, however, his chances of bouncing back from a right hamstring injury in time to start are looking more favorable with each passing day. "Today was a huge step for him and hopefully he can make a bigger one (today),'' Coach Jeff Fisher said. "We still have a lot of time. … I thought he moved around pretty well.'' Young was injured during the second quarter of Sunday's win over the Rams and didn't return. He got "good" test results on Monday, Fisher said, but sat out Wednesday's practice. On ..."
Vince Young is likely to play Sunday
"As Vince Young spoke to reporters on Wednesday, Coach Jeff Fisher stood nearby and gave him a thumbs-up, presumably for the quarterback's success at being vague when talking about his hamstring injury. Indications are Young will eventually get the thumbs-up to play Sunday against the Dolphins. Young didn't practice Wednesday, but there was optimism about his recovery. He said the hamstring "feels way better" than it did earlier this week and he hopes to play."
Vince Young listed as questionable for today
"Titans quarterback Vince Young is questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams after re-aggravating his sore right knee. Young watched as Kerry Collins took all the first-team reps in Friday's practice."
Tennessee Titans' Vince Young can't finish practice
"Vince Young aggravated an injury to his right knee during Thursday's practice, but Titans Coach Jeff Fisher didn't seem too concerned about the quarterback's availability for Sunday's game against the Rams. Fisher said Young suffered "a setback." Trainers put ice on Young's knee as veteran Kerry Collins completed practice with the first-team offense. Young injured the knee during last Sunday's loss to the Colts, but did not miss a snap. The team's training staff examined the knee earlier this week and cleared Young to practice. He's been wearing a wrap around the knee this week. "He has been trying to push through practice and he just had a setback so we shut him down,'' Fisher said. ..."
Chris Johnson: 'My ankle is fine'
"Running back Chris Johnson was limited in practice on Thursday with an ankle injury. He did not practice at all on Wednesday. But the NFL's rushing leader said the injury wouldn't get in the way of his quest for Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards. Johnson has 1,509 yards after 12 games. "My ankle is fine,'' Johnson said. "I'm good.'' Coach Jeff Fisher said Johnson has been given rest this week. "His ankle is a little sore, but he's fine,'' Fisher said."
Kevin Mawae plans to play next season
"Titans center Kevin Mawae battled back from elbow surgery to play his 16th season in the NFL, and he's already looking ahead to his 17th. What uniform he'll wear remains to be seen. Mawae is in the final year of a four-year deal with the Titans. "I am playing well this season. I am having a solid season, so I have no reason to want to retire,'' Mawae said Wednesday. "I still play with a passion and am still playing very good football. So I haven't given any thought to retiring at all. I understand the team has some decisions to make but hopefully what I have done here as a leader and on the field the last four years says something.'' Mawae said he has no idea what management might do, but ..."
Titans' veteran free agents face uncertain futures
"With the season heading toward the final stretch, some Tennessee Titans veteran players are wondering exactly what their futures might be. The subject especially involves veterans like Keith Bulluck, Kevin Mawae and Kyle Vanden Bosch — all of whom are past 30 and in the final year of their contracts. So could this season's final four games be their final ones in a Titans uniform? "I don't know if I'm sitting here hoping for anything. I feel like I've put my best foot forward for this organization for 10 years," said linebacker Keith Bulluck, who is scheduled to start his 134th straight game on Sunday against the St. Louis Rams. Thus far, the Titans have had no conversations with Bulluck's ..."
Pay Up: Harrison, Finnegan, Bulluck, Dockett Fined
"Steelers OLB James Harrison(notes) was fined $5,000 by the NFL for unnecessary roughness when he struck Bengals OT Andrew Whitworth(notes) late in last Sunday's game. Jaguars S Reggie Nelson(notes) received a $7,500 fine for roughing Jets QB Mark Sanchez(notes) with a hit to the head area. …"
Nick Harper plans to ease into action
"Cornerback Nick Harper doesn't want to be too energized at Houston on Monday night, when he's expected to return to the starting lineup from a broken forearm. "I tend to burn out if I get too hyped," Harper said Saturday after practice. So what's the plan? "I got to go back to my old ways," he said. "Listen to some slow music before the game. And then, pick it up during the game." Harper also plans to wear a protective brace over his forearm, which had a plate inserted to help the healing. He has experienced a variety of injuries in his nine-year career, but this was his first broken forearm. "It's a mental thing," said Harper, who considers himself a physical corner. "If you can get past ..."
Nick Harper will rejoin Titans as starter
"When Titans cornerback Nick Harper returns from his broken forearm - either Monday night against the Texans or next week against the Cardinals - he will regain his place in the starting lineup. Coach Jeff Fisher made the announcement after Thursday's practice, and it was endorsed by Rod Hood, whose performance as Harper's replacement has helped the Titans (3-6) forge a three-game winning streak. Hood was out of football, searching for a team, when the Titans signed him in October. Since then he has three starts and three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown during Sunday's 41-17 win over the Bills."
Two Titans tally $17,500 in NFL fines
"The Titans racked up their third win last Sunday against the Bills, and racked up $17,500 worth of fines in the process. The NFL fined cornerback Cortland Finnegan a total of $10,000 for separate violations against the Bills - a major facemask on a pass play in the second quarter and unnecessary roughness for a hit late in the third quarter."
VY: Back from the dead?
"Vince Young will transform the quarterback position in pro football. Vince Young is a softie who never will make it as an NFL quarterback. Strange as it may seem, four years into Young's NFL career, it's still not certain which of those two statements is closer to the truth. Young continues his bid to resurrect his career today when he leads the Tennessee Titans against the Buffalo Bills at LP Field. After spending 14 months as the backup to Kerry Collins, Young was returned to the starting lineup three weeks ago. The Titans were 0-6 and had nothing to lose. Young has won two straight games. But he needs to beat the Bills today and keep playing well if he is going to fulfill the ..."
Titans turn reins over to Vince Young
"Kerry Collins has a hunch about why it happened. He doesn't like it, but that doesn't matter. Vince Young doesn't care about the reason. He's just happy he has his old job back, and a second chance. The Titans pulled a U-turn at quarterback on Thursday — Collins is out and Young is in beginning with Sunday's game against the Jaguars at LP Field. Coach Jeff Fisher said the move is long-term. As the Titans try and make something out of a 0-6 start, Young will be at the controls, fulfilling the wish — and ultimately the command — of owner Bud Adams. So Young, the third overall pick of the 2006 draft, will once again be on full display come Sunday. "I'm still in Kerry Collins' corner because I ..."
Fisher to reveal Titans' QB plans on Thursday
"Justin Gage is like the rest of the Titans right now. The receiver knows there could be a change at quarterback for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars. “I shouldn’t say I sense it, but I think it is in the air right now,’’ Gage said Wednesday. “I am not sure how it is going to play out or what is going to go on. But … we have to be prepared for either quarterback.’’ So will it be Kerry Collins or Vince Young? Coach Jeff Fisher said he plans to announce the starter on Thursday. The coach declined to go into specifics about how reps were divided in Wednesday’s practice, and for the first time this season Collins and Young were off limits to reporters. So was offensive coordinator Mike ..."
If Collins isn't starting, it's news to him
"If a change from Kerry Collins to Vince Young at quarterback is coming this week for the Tennessee Titans, then it's a message the incumbent starter has not received. Players were due back at Baptist Sports Park on Tuesday to begin preparation for Sunday's game with the Jacksonville Jaguars at LP Field. Reports and speculation have cited owner Bud Adams as pushing for a switch from Collins to Young as soon as this week as the 0-6 Titans return from a bye week. "I haven't gotten any indication from him of a change," Collins said last week when asked if there had been any inklings of a potential quarterback change from Coach Jeff Fisher. Practices were closed to the media last week, but with ..."
Titans' Cortland Finnegan and Vincent Fuller use bye week to recover
"If the Titans are fortunate, their defense will welcome two key players back to practice this week. Starting cornerback Cortland Finnegan (hamstring) and nickelback Vincent Fuller (broken forearm) stayed in town over the bye week to receive treatment for their injuries, but Coach Jeff Fisher would only say both players are progressing. Finnegan and Fuller last played Sept. 27 against the Jets. "They would bring the experience back, the anticipation, the experience and the communication things," Fisher said. "I think the safeties would be a little more settled, if you will, to have guys they've been playing alongside with for several years back on the field." Not expected back in time for ..."
Wife of former GM blasts Titans on local radio
"The wife of former Tennessee Titans General Manager Floyd Reese blasted Titans coach Jeff Fisher and the organization in comments made on WGFX-FM 104.5 The Zone Thursday on the SportsZone with George Plaster. Sally Reese intimated that her husband was essentially fired with no notice after 21 years with the organization, and was not given the opportunity to clean out his office and that his resignation was written not by her husband but by team Senior Executive Vice President Steve Underwood. Floyd Reese, who left the Titans organization in January 2007 after having a role with the team since 1986, had stayed quiet regarding his exit, but his wife Sally was in town and called to air her ..."
Titans, Vanden Bosch plan to hold contract talks
"The Titans are scheduled to have contract talks with two-time Pro Bowl DE Kyle Vanden Bosch this weekend, according to a league source. The team, which has a bye this week, has held an ongoing dialogue with Vanden Bosch, an elite pass rusher who's eligible for unrestricted free agency after this season. The Titans are off to an 0-6 start, but they have yet to indicate that they are in rebuilding mode, and they weren't sellers at Tuesday's trade deadline. However, they have previously allowed talented defensive linemen to leave in free agency — Albert Haynesworth most recently — and used the draft and expert defensive line coach Jim Washburn to cultivate reinforcements."
Are wholesale changes at hand for Titans?
"In the wake of a 59-0 loss to the New England Patriots Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium, the Tennessee Titans enter their bye week with major issues and questions in every facet of their organizational structure. So many questions in fact that Coach Jeff Fisher declined to address any specific changes in his postgame press conference, especially regarding a change at the quarterback position. "I'm not going to address the quarterback situation this evening," Fisher offered without being prompted. Asked if other roster changes were possible, he said, "I'm not go into changes now. We're going to look at everything real hard. We've got to get back to doing something well in all three ..."
Ex-Titans stick with Kerry Collins for now
"Ten years ago, the quarterback controversy involved Steve McNair and Neil O'Donnell. These days, it's about whether starter Kerry Collins should be replaced by Vince Young in the wake of a 0-4 start. Everyone has an opinion. This week several former Titans weighed in, and most agreed now's not the time to bench Collins. But it might be coming soon, they said, and some think adding a package for Young is a good idea. "You are going to have to look at Vince at some point,'' former Titans running back Eddie George said. "If Kerry is struggling and can't get the offense going, you have to generate something. I don't think now is the time to make a starting change, but you have to implement ..."
Injury could force Craig Hentrich to retire
"Titans punter Craig Hentrich isn't sure what his future holds, but he has a hunch. The 16th-year pro knows there's a good chance he has punted in his last NFL game, but he's not ready to answer the retirement question definitively. "I have been saying I'm going to be done for the last four or five years, so I am definitely not going to say that. But I understand that this possibly could be it, especially with the injuries I've had this year,'' Hentrich said Thursday. "Who knows? I am not going to say yes or no yet, but it's not looking very good at this point.'' Hentrich suffered a calf injury - on his 1,150th career punt - during the Sept. 20 loss to the Texans. He said it felt like ..."
Jaguars vs. Titans game will be blacked out
"The Jaguars make it official Thursday that they will not ask for an extension and their game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday will be blacked out on local TV. The Jaguars said they expect to sell slightly more than the 46,250 tickets they sold for the home opener against Arizona, but they're still thousands short of a sellout. If all the non-premium tickets aren't sold 72 hours before kickoff, the games are blacked out. Teams can ask for an extension if they have a reasonable chance of selling the rest of the tickets. Owner Wayne Weaver said at the start of the season that the Jaguars would be blacking out all of their home games this year because of low ticket sales."
Desperate Titans danger for Jets
"Last year when the two teams met in late November, the Jets handed the Titans their first loss of the season — with a 34-13 beat down. This week Tennessee will be looking to avoid its' third loss of the season and we haven't even reached October yet. Such is life in the NFL where eight months of anticipation and build up can be destroyed by the third game of the season. If the Titans don't leave Giants Stadium with a win on Sunday they would drop to 0-3 and become a statistical longshot to make the playoffs — 1.8-percent of the teams to start the year 0-3 have qualified for the postseason. It may not be a must-win in the true sense, but the Titans better treat it like one. "We can't let ..."
Titans' Cook could make debut vs. Texans
"Jared Cook's play was one of the more exciting elements for the Tennessee Titans preseason as the rookie tight end led the club with 17 receptions. But as Cook appears to be readying for his NFL debut this week, the third-round pick from South Carolina is taking a relaxed and calm approach. "I've just got to be ready regardless. I can't get caught up in the hype and the surroundings and stuff. You've just got to focus and go play," Cook said. Cook practiced or a second consecutive day on Friday and will officially be listed as questionable for Sunday's home opener against the Houston Texans. Since spraining his ankle on Aug. 29, Cook had been a spectator and missed last week's opener in ..."
Ex-Jaguar receiver Jones to visit Titans
"The Tennessee Titans will work out former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones on Thursday, sources familiar with the situation confirmed. The 26-year-old Jones was scheduled to arrive in Nashville Wednesday evening, according to a source. Jones led the Jaguars with 65 receptions last year for 761 yards and two touchdowns, but was also suspended over an incident in which he was charged with felony possession of cocaine that was found in his vehicle before the 2008 offseason. The former first-rounder from the University of Arkansas in 2005 returned and started for the Jags last year, but was released this off-season after a second incident in which he violated terms of his ..."
Again, get Harrison out of your mind
"Yes, the Titans suddenly have concerns at the receiver position following Monday's hamstring injury to Nate Washington. But no, they're still not calling former Colts receiver Marvin Harrison. The Titans aren't interested, despite the attempts by some folks in the media to keep the idea alive. Coach Jeff Fisher has said on numerous occasions the team hasn't called – and isn't interested – in Harrison. While there's always the possibility someone else in the organization at some point took a call about the free agent without Fisher knowing, from what I've been told I don't even believe that's the case."
Titans coach denies team has any interest in acquiring former Colts receiver Harrison
"Coach Jeff Fisher says the Tennessee Titans are not pursuing veteran wide receiver Marvin Harrison. Fisher said Wednesday the team has had no contact with the free agent or his agent. The Titans had been mentioned specifically in an ESPN report as a team interested in the former outstanding Colts receiver. Fisher said he did not know where the reporter got that information but there was no possibility of Harrison joining the Titans. Harrison finished his Colts career with 1,102 receptions, second on the NFL's career list. The Colts released him after last season to free up $6 million under the salary cap."
Young's agent: QB might be willing to reduce 2010 cap hit
"It has been well documented that the day of reckoning on Vince Young's future with the Tennessee Titans is scheduled for 2010. That's when Young's salary cap number jumps to more than $14 million, thanks in large part to a $7.5 million base salary in the fifth year of his original six-year contract. Young also has a base salary of $8.5 million scheduled for 2011. But Young's agent, Major Adams, told The City Paper that he and Young might be willing to lower that cap number in an effort to remain on the team, if something agreeable can be worked out. "We haven't had any communication yet. Vince is just concentrating on the season. I think that depends on after this year," Adams said. "We're ..."
McNair's shooting hits Vince Young hard
"As a youngster, Titans quarterback Vince Young grew up idolizing Steve McNair. He attended his football camps, and looked to him as a mentor. He even called him "Pops.'' Like so many others, however, Young is now having a hard time dealing with news of the death of the former Titans quarterback. McNair was found dead Saturday from multiple gunshot wounds in a condominium on Second Avenue. Police on Sunday ruled the death a homicide. Young was out of the country when he got word of McNair's death. On Sunday, he issued a statement through the team. "I'm still in shock,'' Young said. "I spent all afternoon and night thinking about my life on and off the field with 'Pops.' Since I was a ..."
Titans, WR Edison agree to terms
"The Titans have agreed to terms with receiver Dominique Edison on a rookie contract. Edison, a sixth round pick in April's NFL Draft, becomes the fourth member of the team's 2009 draft class to reach a deal. Earlier this week the Titans agreed to terms with guard Ryan Durand (7th round) and cornerback Jason McCourty (6th). Safety Nick Schommer (7th round) reached a deal with the team last week."
Titans agree to terms with two more draft picks
"The Tennessee Titans agreed to terms with two more 2009 draft picks on Tuesday, signing sixth-round cornerback Jason McCourty and seventh-round guard Ryan Durand. Both players agreed to four-year contracts, as did safety Nick Schommer, who agreed to his deal last week. McCourty, a sixth round selection (203rd overall) from Rutgers, was a three-year starter and a senior captain. Durand also was a three-year starter for Syracuse and started 35 games at right guard."
Titans waive three players
"The Tennessee Titans have waived three players from their active roster, letting go of defensive linemen Ulrich Winkler and Charles Bennett and waiving injured guard Pete Clifford. Winkler, who hails from Germany and came to the Titans via the now-defunct NFL Europe, spent the year on injured reserve after injuring his knee in training camp last year. Winkler had spent the previous season on the practice squad as a European exemption. Bennett spent time last season on the practice squad."
Vince Young addresses trade comments
"Titans quarterback Vince Young, in an interview with ESPN, addressed remarks he recently made to a Baltimore TV station about wanting to be traded. Young said he would be willing to be the No. 2 quarterback for the next two years - not by choice, but he did it last season - and reiterated the point he made recently to a Baltimore television station last month: He's ready to play now. "I don't know what NFL player around the league doesn't want to play and be a starter," Young told ESPN's Michael Smith. "So what I'm saying is that I'm ready to play ball, and if it's not here in my next two years, that I'm going to be able to play here, then I'm telling guys around the league I'm ready to ..."
Fisher: No problems with Young's statements
"Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher says he is fine with Vince Young's claims on a Baltimore television station that he wants to start in Tennessee or consider the possibility of moving on elsewhere in his career. Fisher made the comments on WGFX-FM 104.5 The Zone's SportsZone with George Plaster on Wednesday. "Our situation is clear, and I don't have an issue with it, nor does Vince," Fisher said. "If Vince had had an issue with it, he would have been in my office. He's been in my office once [in February], and we had a great visit. We visited this morning, and it didn't come up, and he's working hard, period." Young had made his comments on WMAR-TV in Baltimore, saying, "If them guys ..."
