St. Louis Rams Trade Rumors

Jets VP of college scouting Joey Clinkscales out of running for St. Louis Rams GM job
"Jets vice president of college scouting Joey Clinkscales is no longer in the running for the St. Louis Rams general manager job, a person with knowledge of his standing said today. That person requested anonymity because the team has not announced its finalists. Clinkscales was among a list of candidates who initially interviewed for the job last month after Billy Devaney was fired. The Rams are reportedly now whittling down their search to two or three finalists to home in on making a hire."
Rams interested in Steelers exec as general manager
"The St. Louis Rams have requested permission to interview Steelers director of administration Omar Khan for their general manager job, sources told the Tribune-Review today. Khan, the Steelers' salary cap manager and chief negotiator, is considered one of the top young executives in the NFL. A key behind-the-scenes figure with the Steelers, Khan was one of two finalists for the Seattle Seahawks' general manager job two years ago."
49ers' Tom Gamble to interview with Rams
"Tom Gamble, the 49ers' director of player personnel, will interview with the Rams for their general-manager position today, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Gamble has ties to St. Louis head coach Jeff Fisher. Gamble worked in the Eagles' personnel department from 1988 through '94; Fisher was Philadelphia's defensive coordinator from 1988 through '90. Gamble's father, Harry, served as the Eagles' general manager and president."
Vikings' George Paton gets 2nd interview for St. Louis Rams GM job
"Minnesota Vikings director of player personnel George Paton will have a second interview for the St. Louis Rams general manager job, as early as today, according to a person close to the situation. Paton, who joined the Vikings in 2007 after six seasons as director of pro personnel for the Miami Dolphins, first interviewed with the Rams last week."
Rams/CVC finalizing London agreement
"Looks like the Rams are playing in London next season after all. The Rams and the Convention and Visitors Commission are in the process of finalizing an agreement to the lease that would allow the team to play home games in London over the next three seasons. According to Rams executive vice president of football operations Kevin Demoff, tickets could go on sale this week. "The agreement must be formally approved by the CVC and RSA, but we are optimistic there will be a successful resolution," said Demoff, who was in Indy for Sunday's Super Bowl game between the New England Patriots and the New York Giants."
Rams move closer to hiring their GM
"He concedes it might be wishful thinking, but coach Jeff Fisher said Thursday the Rams hope to have their general manager search wrapped up and their coaching staff complete by the end of next week. "We've been very, very busy in the last two weeks trying to put together the best possible (coaching) staff we can," Fisher said. "We're getting closer. We still have a number of vacancies. And as has been reported, Kevin (Demoff) and I have been interviewing general manager prospects. That process is going very well. I'm very excited about some of the guys we've talked to at this point." The Rams have formally announced the hiring of only three coaches: offensive coordinator Brian"
Rams looking for backfield help
"Here we go again on the search for backup help to Steven Jackson in the Rams' backfield. The free-agent additions of Cadillac Williams and Jerious Norwood looked good on paper last summer at the start of training camp. But Williams was so-so, with some notable problems on swing passes early in the season. Norwood barely played. Both are free agents this offseason and aren't expected back. As usual there were plenty of potential running back options on display this week at the Senior Bowl, with the headliners being Chris Polk of Washington and Doug Martin of Boise State. Both project as second- or third-round draft picks. There are few backs in the country, or in the history of the Pacific"
Rams hire Brian Schottenheimer
"The St. Louis Rams have hired Brian Schottenheimer as their new offensive coordinator. According to league sources, it was a close call between Schottenheimer and Hue Jackson. Those sources said Rams head coach Jeff Fisher was impressed with Jackson following their interview earlier this week."
Kroenke won't say Rams will stay here
"Those looking for reassurances about the Rams' long-term viability in St. Louis got none Tuesday from club owner Stan Kroenke. With the stadium lease issue looming at the Edward Jones Dome, Kroenke was asked about the potential relocation of the franchise at Jeff Fisher's introductory news conference at Rams Park. "I think this is all out there," Kroenke said. "The chronology of what occurs with the lease is public knowledge. I think for me to comment on that process is particularly (un)timely. The city, or the (stadium) authority, they're dealing with their side of it. And they present a proposal to us by Feb. 1. "So there's a team in place that deals with all that. So we'll see how that"
Gregg Williams to be Rams defensive coordinator
"Meet me in St. Louis. That's what new Rams head coach Jeff Fisher asked Gregg Williams. And Williams, the New Orleans defensive coordinator for the past three years, said yes. He has agreed to join Fisher's new staff in the same role, league sources confirmed Monday. Williams, 53, is a native of Excelsior Springs, Mo., who attended Northeast Missouri State University -- now known as Truman State. Last Thursday, Williams referred to Fisher as his best friend in coaching, and with his contract up in New Orleans, and the Saints out of the playoffs, Williams has agreed to hook up with his best friend once again."
Brian Schottenheimer to take Rams' OC job, pending contract
"Brian Schottenheimer has been offered the St. Louis Rams' offensive coordinator job and will accept the position on new coach Jeff Fisher's staff, a league source said Sunday night. All that's left to make it official is for the contract to be completed, according to the source. Fisher and Schottenheimer, the New York Jets' former offensive coordinator, spent Sunday night at dinner discussing the position."
B. Schottenheimer on Rams radar as OC
"Brian Schottenheimer is interviewing today with Nick Saban about the offensive coordinator job at Alabama. But it looks like Schottenheimer will have another job opportunity — in St. Louis. Multiple league sources told the Post-Dispatch on Saturday that Jeff Fisher is interested in hiring Schottenheimer as his offensive coordinator with the Rams. Fisher informed the Rams on Friday he wanted to coach in St. Louis; contract details between Fisher and the Rams still must be finalized, but that's expected to happen no later than Sunday evening. In the meantime, Fisher has been given the green light by the Rams to "officially" talk to potential members of his coaching staff. Fisher has been"
Rams interview two more, await Fisher's answer
"Strange as it seems, two sources confirmed Thursday evening that Jeff Fisher had received no formal contract offers from suitors Miami and St. Louis. Even so, it would be naïve to think Fisher doesn't have an idea of what the Dolphins or Rams are willing to pay. Compounding matters from a St. Louis standpoint is the fact that Miami owner Stephen Ross just won't go away. He continues to push, and push hard, for Fisher's services, according to NFL sources. Under a timeline spelled out to the Post-Dispatch on Saturday, Fisher planned to spend Tuesday and Wednesday sorting through noneconomic issues. Apparently, sorting through those issues spilled over into Thursday, meaning Fisher's decision"
Lots of talk but no action as Rams wait on Fisher
"Is it the money? The title? Concern about a possible franchise move? Wednesday came and went with lots of rumor and speculation but very little in the way of hard facts, much less a decision by Jeff Fisher on his next head-coaching destination. In fact, one source familiar with the negotiations said, "Nothing of any real consequence" took place Wednesday. But the Rams' tug-of-war of with Miami could be reaching epic proportions, because among that speculation was a report that Miami owner Stephen Ross was offering Fisher in the neighborhood of $8 million a year on a multi-year deal to become the next coach of the Dolphins."
Fisher could make decision to join Dolphins on Wednesday
"Jeff Fisher is close to making a decision on his coaching future, according to sources close to the ex-Titans coach, and it appears he will choose the Miami Dolphins. Fisher could make a decision as early as Wednesday, the sources indicated. The Dolphins and St. Louis Rams have been waiting on a decision from Fisher, who interviewed with both franchises last week and is the top choice of each. Rams COO Kevin Demoff indicated Monday he expected a decision from Fisher in the next several days."
Rams interview second GM candidate in Titans' Dawson
"All eyes around the NFL are on the St. Louis Rams, a team in the midst of dual searches to fill two key front office positions. While the Rams have completed their courtship of Jeff Fisher and wait for his final decision, Tennessee Titans vice president/football operations Lake Dawson is interviewing with the organization this week to fill the general manager role, league sources told NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora on Tuesday. Dawson spent one season in his current role for the Titans, his fifth overall with the team after joining the organization as the director of pro scouting."
Decision time for Fisher: St. Louis or Miami?
"Jeff Fisher didn't come to St. Louis expecting a Rams contract on the spot, and so it's no surprise that he left without one. On a day of widespread speculation and handicapping, Fisher's coaching destination for the 2012 NFL season and beyond remains unknown. After a visit that lasted more than four hours Sunday at Rams Park, Fisher headed out the back entrance a little after 4 p.m., riding shotgun in a black SUV driven by Kevin Demoff, the Rams' executive vice president of football operations. Surprisingly, Fisher didn't head to Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield to be whisked out of town on owner Stan Kroenke's jet. He flew commercial on Southwest Airlines out of Lambert"
Report: Concerns over move to L.A. could be "hangup" in Fisher-to-Rams deal
"As Jeff Fisher moves toward becoming the head coach of the team that beat Fisher's Titans in Super Bowl XXXIV nearly 12 years ago, an unlikely factor has surfaced as a potential area of concern. Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports via Twitter that it "looks like" the "only possible hangup" for an agreement between the Rams and Fisher "are concerns about [the] team moving to [Los Angeles].""
Source: Jeff Fisher, Sam Bradford meet
"Jeff Fisher is spending Sunday touring the St. Louis Rams' training facility and meeting with quarterback Sam Bradford, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Fisher is expected to choose between head coaching openings in St. Louis and with the Miami Dolphins this week. Fisher told Schefter on Friday he is considering coaching next season in only those two places. Fisher interviewed with the Dolphins earlier last week and first met with the Rams on Thursday."
Cardinals' Ray Horton happy with interview with Rams
"Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton had never interviewed for an NFL head coaching position before Friday. But there isn't anything he would change about the five-hour meeting he had with Rams officials. "I think things went excellent," Horton said. "When it was over they called my agent and said they were blown away by him and he couldn't have been any better." Horton's interview came a day after the Rams interviewed former Titans coach Jeff Fisher, who has also met with the Dolphins. "I'm not naive enough to believe Jeff Fisher isn't the No. 1 guy," Horton said. "But I think they had to do their due diligence." The Rams are interested in a second interview, Horton said, which"
Horton may get 2nd interview; McDaniels departs
"The St. Louis Rams were impressed enough with Ray Horton during a five-hour interview Friday with the Arizona Cardinals defensive coordinator that they are interested in a second interview pending Jeff Fisher's decision. "I'm not naïve enough to believe Jeff Fisher isn't the No. 1 guy," Horton told the Arizona Republic. "But I think (the Rams) had to do their due diligence." Horton thought the interview, his first as a head-coaching candidate, went very well. "When it was over they called my agent and said they were blown away by him, and he couldn't have been any better," Horton told the Republic."
Fisher visits St. Louis
"After a weekend of duck hunting, Jeff Fisher is back to team hunting. Fisher wouldn't be visiting Rams Park on Sunday if he wasn't seriously considering becoming the next head coach of the St. Louis Rams. Then again, NFL sources tell the Post-Dispatch that he also wouldn't be visiting if his mind was made up. "Unless something didn't work for the Rams or for Jeff when they met Thursday, it was always planned that there would be a follow-up in St. Louis," a source very close to Fisher said. When Fisher visited with Miami earlier in the week, Dolphins officials actually interviewed him outside of Miami. But the Dolphins wanted Fisher to see their facility, thus, the splashy helicopter ride"
Horton is second to talk with Rams
"The St. Louis Rams confirmed that they are interviewing Arizona defensive coordinator Ray Horton today for their head-coaching vacancy. Horton, 51, is a native of Tacoma, Wash., who had a 10-year career as a cornerback in the NFL with Cincinnati (1979-82) and Dallas ('89-92). His pro coaching career includes stints with Washington, Cincinnati, Detroit and Pittsburgh. Until this season, he had spent his entire NFL coaching career coaching defensive backs. In Arizona, the Cardinals' defense started slowly this season but showed marked improvement over the final 10 games and finished tied for 18th in total defense. With his background in Pittsburgh, where he was an assistant from 2004-10,"
Jeff Fisher says he is only considering coaching for Miami Dolphins or St. Louis Rams
"Former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher told ESPN on Friday that he is considering coaching only two teams — the Dolphins and St. Louis Rams — and will make a decision next week. Fisher declined to comment further. The Dolphins are optimistic — but hardly certain — about their chances, according to two people in contact with team management. But Howard Balzer of 101ESPN radio in St. Louis reported Friday-citing sources-that Fisher is "on the verge" of chosing St. Louis, but "his decision is not final." Meanwhile, Miami is meeting with Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin over Friday and Saturday while awaiting word from Fisher. The Dolphins are expected to speak to additional"
Pats look to reconnect with Josh McDaniels
"The spotlight now shines on Josh McDaniels. The Patriots received permission to speak with their former offensive coordinator, a source told the Herald, with the conversations possibly beginning today. Current offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien is leaving to become Penn State's coach, and McDaniels is a top candidate to fill the looming vacancy. McDaniels has a year left on his contract in St. Louis. But with a new, unnamed regime taking over for fired head coach Steve Spagnuolo, the Rams almost certainly will allow McDaniels to walk. The Pats aren't alone, as the Chiefs also will speak with McDaniels. But one must figure the Pats have the upper hand thanks to his relationship with coach"
Fisher Expected to be Rams Coach
"Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels looks like he's out the door. Arizona defensive coordinator Ray Horton spent his Friday with Stan Kroenke in the Mile High City. And Jeff Fisher says it's down to St. Louis and Miami — not necessarily in that order — for his next place of employment. Events Friday all seemed to indicate that a decision was near on the Rams' next head coach — with the signs pointing to Fisher and the Rams. How so? Giving New England permission to interview McDaniels for its vacant offensive coordinator position could be interpreted as a strong hint that Fisher is coming to St. Louis. The Rams granted permission to the Patriots late Friday afternoon. Kansas City hasn't"
Rams owner meets Fisher in Denver
"The Rams didn't greet Jeff Fisher with a helicopter ride and a photo opportunity Thursday in Denver, as was the case in Miami. That's not Stan Kroenke's style. But the Rams' owner did meet with Fisher, the former Tennessee Titans head coach and the No. 1 target on the Rams' list to replace Steve Spagnuolo. Fisher spent the better part of the day meeting with Kroenke and left Thursday evening. The meeting was scheduled in Denver because the Rams didn't want to create a circus atmosphere with a St. Louis meeting. All indications are that it's a two-horse race between St. Louis and Miami for Fisher's services. He apparently will not interview in Tampa Bay, as had been speculated. But the rest"
Todd Bowles is on Rams' radar
"The search for a general manager began in earnest on Day 3 of the Rams' offseason, and their search for a new head coach broadened beyond Jeff Fisher. On the general manager front, the Rams received permission to interview Les Snead of Atlanta and Baltimore's Eric DeCosta to replace the deposed Billy Devaney. In terms of a new head coach, the Rams have expressed interest in Todd Bowles of the Miami Dolphins to replace Steve Spagnuolo, but they haven't as yet sent out a formal request to interview Bowles. Bowles, 48, served as interim head coach in Miami for the final three games of this season after the dismissal of Tony Sparano. The Dolphins responded well in those games by going 2-1 with"
Jeff Fisher turns attention to Rams; Peterson won't be czar
"The Miami Dolphins have put the pursuit of Jeff Fisher on ice while Tennessee's former coach begins a courtship with the St. Louis Rams. But Dolphins owner Steve Ross has made his best sales pitch to Fisher, who intends to coach in 2012. Sources say Fisher left South Florida with a favorable impression of Ross and the Dolphins' organization. It wasn't specified if an offer was made, but Fisher made it clear before Tuesday's visit, his first, that he was interested in exploring all his options. In the meantime, the Dolphins are doing the same."
Fisher has eyes for Bears, but Rams still most likely desination
"Bill Cowher and Jon Gruden were the headline candidates fueling the coaching market rumor mill throughout the fall. But Jeff Fisher is the one holding all the cards when it counts. The former Titans coach is this offseason's power broker while Cowher and Gruden watch from the sideline. Miami already has interviewed Fisher, who was spotted at the Buccaneers team hotel over the weekend. Had Bill Polian survived in Indianapolis, and Jim Caldwell had not, it's a near certainty that Fisher would have been near the top of that list as well. San Diego had also been as likely a landing spot as any until Dean Spanos decided to keep Norv Turner. But here is all you need to know about Fisher's likely"
Fisher eyes coaching return; Rams, Chargers loom as options
"Jeff Fisher is ready to return to coaching, according to sources with knowledge of his thinking, and will be looking for a job with, first and foremost, a stable situation at quarterback. That's one reason why the former Tennessee Titans coach is expected to have the San Diego Chargers and St. Louis Rams at the top of his list, should those jobs become available. Beyond the presence of quarterbacks Philip Rivers in San Diego and Sam Bradford in St. Louis, Fisher has roots in Southern California and a relationship with Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff (whose father, Marvin, represents Fisher). One source insisted that Indianapolis shouldn't be ruled out. Fisher has a strong"
Rams fire Spagnuolo, Devaney
"Rams owner Stan Kroenke wasted little time in deciding the fate of head coach Steve Spagnuolo and general manager Billy Devaney. According to team sources, both Spagnuolo and Devaney were fired Monday morning less than 24 hours after the Rams ended a highly disappointing 2-14 season with a 34-27 loss to San Francisco. Both were informed Monday morning. Spagnuolo's three-year record with the Rams was 10-38, as the team crumbled under the weight of a tough schedule and a torrent of injuries. Devaney's drafts, although better than his predecessor's, included too many misses and failed to adequately address the need for playmakers on offense and the return game."

That's one reason why the former Tennessee Titans coach is expected to have the Chargers and Rams at the top of his list, should those jobs become available. Beyond the presence of quarterbacks Philip Rivers in San Diego and Sam Bradford in St. Louis, Fisher has a relationship with Rams chief operating officer Kevin Demoff (whose father, Marvin, represents Fisher) and roots in Southern California."
Rams' Lloyd will follow McDaniels
"Brandon Lloyd has experienced only two victories in 10 games with the Rams. And after leading the NFL in reception yards (1,448) in 2010 as a Denver Bronco, he might not reach 1,000 this season. Nonetheless, Lloyd has been happy as a Ram and says he wants to return to St. Louis next season and beyond. "I would like to stay here," he told the Post-Dispatch. "I've been well-received by the players, by the coaches, by the community. It's been overwhelming; an overwhelmingly warm reception. Coming back to Missouri and St. Louis. I would love to grow with Sam Bradford; that would be awesome. I've never had a true elite-level quarterback in my career." But there's a catch for Lloyd, the Kansas"
Spagnuolo prepares for what may be his finale
"This could be the final week of Steve Spagnuolo's tenure in St. Louis, but the Rams coach said Monday he has had no conversations with owner Stan Kroenke on the topic. "No," Spagnuolo said. "Those conversations wouldn't happen anyway (at this time), so it's not anything out of the ordinary. That's nothing different." Spagnuolo takes a three-year record of 10-37 as Rams head coach into Sunday's season finale against visiting San Francisco. This season began with the Rams considered a favorite by many to win the NFC West. But injuries, historically bad offense and run defense, plus one of the league's toughest schedules have resulted in a 2-13 disaster. Spagnuolo, considered one of the"
Report: Spagnuolo will be Eagles' DC
"League sources have said for weeks that Kroenke plans to clean house after the season, firing both head coach Steve Spagnuolo and General Manager Billy Devaney. League sources also said this week that it is all but certain that Spagnuolo will join Andy Reid's staff in Philadelphia as the Eagles' defensive coordinator. Devaney, who was the Chargers Director of Player Personnel from 1990-2000, will not be a candidate in San Diego."
Rams likely to shut Bradford down, still see him as their future
"The bad news for Sam Bradford is that his ankle injury will sideline him today against the Bengals, and probably for the rest of the season, too — and he's had a lousy season even when he's been healthy. The good news is that the Rams still see him as their franchise quarterback. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Rams are likely to shut Bradford down for the season and stick with Kellen Clemens as the starter the rest of the way, but that the Rams still believe in Bradford as their long-term solution at quarterback. Some observers, including ESPN's Jon Gruden, have said Bradford looks so bad this year that the Rams should consider drafting a quarterback like Baylor's Heisman Trophy"
Chiefs buzz surrounds McDaniels, but with reservations
"His name has been hot, and it has been mud. In Kansas City these days, it is at least part of the buzz on who might replace Todd Haley as Chiefs coach. Josh McDaniels is high on the list, the polarizing former Denver Broncos head coach who's now offensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams. The gambling website Bovada lists McDaniels as the second-best bet, behind only interim coach Romeo Crennel, with the odds listed Thursday at 5-to-2 that McDaniels will lead the Chiefs in 2012. In some ways, it makes sense. He worked with Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli when both were with the New England Patriots, and McDaniels was the Patriots' coordinator when quarterback Matt Cassel was forced"
Bradford gets limited work in practice
"After resting his injured left ankle all week, quarterback Sam Bradford went for a test spin Saturday at Rams Park. Bradford got limited work during the team's final full-scale practice before Monday night's game in Seattle but moved around fairly well. "The test here is come out, do the work, see how it feels tomorrow," coach Steve Spagnuolo said following practice. "Again, we are treading lightly and going safe. I can tell you this, if you could've seen the look in his eyes when I told him he wasn't going to play last week, that's hard to do. You know him. But we'll see." If Bradford's ankle feels reasonably good Sunday and Monday following Saturday's work, he will be back in the lineup"
Rams might go with Plan C at quarterback
"Tom Brandstater, anyone? In the ongoing saga of as the ankle turns with Sam Bradford, Brandstater could be the Rams' only quarterback option Monday night in Seattle. Particularly if it's thumbs down on A.J. Feeley, who suffered a small fracture on his right thumb in Sunday's 26-0 loss to San Francisco. "Well, he would have to be the guy," Spagnuolo said Monday. "The good thing is, we had him here a good month period, so the system's not new to him. Last week he was in there, really with the practice squad reps, so he's kind of got the juices flowing again. But he'd be the guy we'd have to go with, yeah." Thaddeus Lewis backers, that's your cue to start screaming. It's old ground by now,"
Two teams have contacted ex-Titans coach Fisher about jobs
"At least two teams have already reached out to former Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher about head-coaching positions, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. With Jon Gruden staying in the ESPN broadcast booth, Fisher is expected to be the most in-demand coach this offseason."
When coaches get fired this year, who will replace them?
"Nearly a third of all NFL head-coaching jobs could become vacant after the 2011 season. In addition to the Jaguars, teams that could (emphasis "could") make a change presently include, in no particular order other than the order in which I scan through the league's eight divisions, the Dolphins, Colts, Chiefs, Chargers, Giants, Eagles, Vikings, Buccaneers, and Rams. So who will replace these coaches? Beyond Bill Cowher, Jon Gruden, and Jeff Fisher, there aren't many (any) obvious candidates. Let's consider the three categories from which head coaches typically emerge: former NFL head coaches, current NFL assistant coaches, and college head coaches. Former NFL head coaches: In the hopes"
Bradford participates in drills
"St. Louis Rams quarterback Sam Bradford continued his gradual recovery from a high ankle sprain, participating in seven-on-seven drills Thursday. "Sam is trying to do stuff," coach Steve Spagnuolo said. "He's standing. He threw some passes today and stood around and got most of it mentally." Spagnuolo said Bradford was "not quite there yet. See what happens tomorrow." Backup A. J. Feeley worked with the first unit through practice."
Bradford unlikely to play vs. Saints
"Play football long enough and you'll have good days and bad days. But for Sam Bradford, not playing against Dallas because of a high ankle sprain made his game-day experience downright miserable. With the Rams playing in his backyard and with lots of family members and friends in attendance at Cowboys Stadium, Bradford could only watch as the Cowboys ran roughshod over the Rams 34-7. "It was tough," Bradford said. "Obviously, I had the hope all week that I was going to get to play. So never in my mind did I really think (about) what it was going to be like on Sunday not to play." Bradford said the reality of missing an NFL game for the first time since he entered the league hit him when he"
Rams QB Bradford probably out again
"Play football long enough and you'll have good days and bad days. But for Sam Bradford, not playing against Dallas because of a high ankle sprain made his game-day experience downright miserable. With the Rams playing in his backyard and with lots of family members and friends in attendance at Cowboys Stadium, Bradford could only watch as the Cowboys ran roughshod over the Rams 34-7. So never in my mind did I really think (about) what it was going to be like on Sunday not to play.""
Bradford still hopes to play Sunday
"For Sam Bradford, Sunday's game in Dallas is as close at it gets to an NFL homecoming. He grew up in Oklahoma City, about 3½ hours north on I-35. Oklahoma is Cowboys country when it comes to pro football; always has been. But when the Rams drafted Bradford No. 1 overall in 2010, Bradford's No. 8 jersey started springing up in malls and stores throughout the Sooner state. And some of those Tony Romo No. 9 Cowboys jerseys were moved to the discount racks. So there could be even more Oklahomans than usual in the stands at Cowboys Stadium when the Rams come to town for a 3:15 p.m. kickoff. Bradford has received more than a few ticket requests from friends and family. "And I would hate to"
It's official: Rams trade for WR Brandon Lloyd
"Intent on improving a wide receiver corps that has had its share of ups and downs -- and drops -- all season, the Rams completed a trade Monday for Denver wideout Brandon Lloyd. The Rams gave up a conditional sixth-round pick for Lloyd, who is from Kansas City and played at the University of Illinois. The pick can change to a fifth-rounder depending on the number of catches Lloyd has for the Rams. The expectation is that Lloyd will be ready to play this week in Dallas because he knows this offense very well. He played in the same system the previous two seasons under then-Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels, now the Rams' offensive coordinator."
Rams to acquire veteran receiver Lloyd in trade with Broncos
"The Denver Broncos will trade wide receiver Brandon Lloyd to the St. Louis Rams, NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reports, citing a league source. It was widely reported last week the Broncos were open to dealing Lloyd and shopped around ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline. The Rams, San Francisco 49ers and New England Patriots were all known to be in discussions with the Broncos, sources told The Denver Post."
Rams, other teams interested in Brandon Lloyd
"The Rams have had several conversations with Denver about the possibility of trading for Broncos wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, but there appears to be plenty of interest in his services elsewhere around the league. The Broncos are thought to be seeking anywhere from a third-round to a fifth-round pick for Lloyd before Tuesday's trading deadline. The Rams almost certainly wouldn't offer a third-rounder. Lloyd, 30, enjoyed his greatest success last season under current Rams offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, who was Denver's head coach before getting fired early last in December. Lloyd, 6-0, 188, caught 77 passes for 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns, with a per-catch average of 18.8 yards."
