Fantasy Football Advice

Fantasy Playoff Rankings
"Playoff fantasy football is about NFL teams rather than just individual players like in the regular season. Pick a lot of players from a wild card team that makes it into the Super Bowl, and you are likely to win your playoff league. Pick a few key players from a number two seed that loses in their first game and you are in trouble. This is the most wide-open tournament in years. As Aaron Schatz wrote, there are 7-8 teams that could win the title where you wouldn't even call it an upset. My feelings on what teams are positioned well this month (Baltimore, Philadelphia, Carolina) heavily influences my rankings. If you think the Ravens are going to lose in Miami, then Le'Ron McClain ..."
The good and bad of season
"It comes as a relief when fantasy season ends so I can concentrate on rooting for certain teams -- not to mention have my life back. If I couldn't win any of my leagues this year, I gain some solace knowing that I aided others in victory. My best breakout predictions were at quarterback, with Tyler Thigpen, Philip Rivers, Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers as players to target and Marc Bulger and Matt Leinart (well before Kurt Warner won the job) as those to fear. On the flip side, I wasn't as prophetic -- Jay Cutler as a bust, Tarvaris Jackson (before he was injured) and Jake Delhomme as sleepers, along with Jason Campell as a breakthrough. Oops. Looking back at running back, I was ..."
Waiver Wire: The best pickups of '08
"All Antonio Bryant was looking for was a chance. All the Buccaneers were looking for was a productive wide receiver. It was the perfect match. Bryant, who missed 2007 for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, signed with Tampa Bay in the offseason. The Bucs had Joey Galloway at wide receiver and little else with Ike Hilliard, Michael Clayton and Maurice Stovall. When Galloway got hurt in Week 2, Bryant got the opportunity he was waiting for, and he didn't look back. Those of you who took advantage of Bryant's increased playing time in your Fantasy league benefitted, which is why Bryant earned the award for the best in-season addition. Every Monday on CBSSports.com, we tried to help ..."
Can Maurice Morris Bring Home a Title?
"The majority of fantasy football leagues wrapped up this past week. Some leagues, however, play the season out, be it a two-week (Weeks 16 & 17) championship round or simply use Week 17 to determine a champion. If you are still in the hunt, perhaps Maurice Morris can help put you over the top. One week after gaining 86 yards on 15 carries to lead the Seahawks to a win over St. Louis, Morris went for 116 yards on 29 carries to hinder the Jets’ playoff chances. Seattle faces Arizona in Week 17 looking to finish the season on a high note with a three-game winning streak, as well as send Mike Holmgren off with a W as he calls it a career. Arizona has been a train wreck since clinching a ..."
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire - Week 17
"Football Free Agents: Priority AdditionsThe following players should be high on your radar and are worthy of being added immediately to your fantasy football team. Fred Jackson, Running Back, Buffalo Bills Jackson totaled 113 offensive yards (43 rushing, 70 receiving) while scoring a ground touchdown and catching three passes in Week 16. Most of that came in relief of injured tailback Marshawn Lynch (shoulder), who aggravated a shoulder injury during game action. The versatile Jackson stands to benefit if Lynch is limited or absent for their Week 17 contest against the New England Patriots. New England is tied for the second fewest receptions allowed per contest (3.25) to opposing ..."
Get ‘em or Don’t Sweat ‘em Week 16
"There were some unusual heroes on Sunday. There always are. Let's take a look at them and see if they are worthy of your fantasy rosters. QB JaMarcus Russell - Russell had a solid game completing 18 of 25 passes for 236 yards and a pair of TDs against Houston. He finished up on the road against Tampa Bay. They have been struggling of late, but I imagine Gruden will get the Bucs up to stick it to Al Davis. Ruling: Don't Sweat 'em. Tarvaris Jackson - Jackson had a solid game against Atlanta. He threw for 233 yards and 2 TDs and added 76 on the ground. I'm impressed that he performed at that level since I put little stock in his previous six quarters of excellence against Detroit and ..."
Four Downs: Were you snowed under?
"When we look back on the 2008 season, there are going to be many breakout performances. It was a year where several unexpected players had outstanding Fantasy seasons. There were late-round steals in the draft with DeAngelo Williams, Isaac Bruce and Philip Rivers, rookie sensations with Matt Forte, Steve Slaton and Chris Johnson and stellar free agent pickups like Pierre Thomas, Tashard Choice and Antonio Bryant. But one player might be the biggest surprise -- Matt Cassel. Cassel had arguably the toughest job in sports in replacing last year's MVP, Tom Brady, who was lost for the year in Week 1 with a knee injury. Cassel started slow and struggled to find his way, but since November, ..."

"Welcome to another season of Fantasy Forecast®! Mighty Max and I will strive to keep the good times rolling; if you've struggled a bit, my silicon-chip friend and I will be here every week to help you turn the corner on the way to your league's trophy. Teams on bye this week: None. Top Fantasy Performers from last week QB Matt Cassel, Patriots (18-30-218, 4 TD; 7-18-0 rushing): Cassel played this past weekend after losing his father earlier in the week. Much like Brett Favre a few seasons ago, Cassel went out and had a heckuva performance. Cassel and the Patriots' offense are both getting hot-the team just needs to get into the playoffs. Philip Rivers, Chargers (34-48-346, 2 TD; ..."
The Talented Mr. Roto: It's a fine line between love and hate
"Five recent things I have learned about myself from the Internet: I have an unflappable liver. I have a Facebook fan page. Soap Opera Digest considers me a celebrity. The term "SimmonBerry" was deleted from Wikipedia. Although the conclusion should be obvious to all, whether or not I am "God" is a question worthy of debate. From my mailbag, regarding last week's "Love/Hate." Dave (Unknown): I hate love/hate. Who did you love? 1. Westbrook. 2. Chris Johnson. 3. Colts D/ST. 4. Kurt Warner. What do these players have in common? Answer: They were all starters for me. Booo! How can anyone be so far off? TMR: Maybe I'm just an overachiever? Gang, you've been forewarned by Dave. Let's get to it ..."
NFL Week 16 Fantasy Fill-ins
"I've uncovered some guys you can plug in to your lineup if you are dealing with an injury or tough matchups. Check back following the games to see the stat line of guys profiled. QB Brett Favre - Brett hasn't been great of late, but I do love his matchup this week against Seattle. I can see the Drama King put together a strong performance in his last matchup against former Coach Mike Holmgren. Stat Line: RB Kevin Smith - I'll continue to sing the Rookies praises and ride him for another week. He faces New Orleans this week. Smith could quietly be putting together one
