Cowboys Trade Rumors

Henry wants to join Cowboys
" Former Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chris Henry on Wednesday became the latest troubled player to seek refuge with the Dallas Cowboys. Henry is awaiting trial for misdemeanor charges of assault and a ruling from the NFL on whether he will be able to play in 2008. On Tuesday, an Ohio judge ruled Henry be released from electronic monitoring and house arrest to travel for tryouts. No visits have been scheduled, but Henry told ESPN.com the Cowboys and New Orleans top his list of teams. "
Source: Dallas Cowboys deal with HBO 'imminent'
" The Dallas Cowboys are not only going back to California for training camp, they are expected to once again invite HBO to broadcast their every move. A deal is "imminent" that will allow NFL Films to film five to six weeks of training camp in Oxnard, Calif. and air it on the HBO show Hard Knocks, according to a source. Training camp opens in late July. Last season, the Cowboys held training camp in San Antonio. The last time the Cowboys were on Hard Knocks was 2002, when they finished 5-11. It was Dave Campo's last season as coach. "
Cowboys Mailbag
"What are the chances off the Cowboys getting Roy Williams, Chad Johnson or Anquan Boldin in a trade?"
Dallas Cowboys looking for complement to T.O.
" The three names most linked of late to such talk have been Cincinnati's Chad Johnson, Detroit's Roy Williams and Arizona's Anquan Boldin. Adding intrigue is the fact that the three teams most mentioned as trade partners – the Cowboys, Eagles and Redskins – all play in the same division."
Cowboys seek veteran help
"The Dallas Cowboys have talked to a team, not the Cincinnati Bengals, about acquiring a veteran receiver. And that's about all Jerry Jones would say Tuesday, offering nothing more specific... The top veteran receiver candidates who might be available via trade remain the Arizona Cardinals' Anquan Boldin and the Detroit Lions' Roy Williams."
Jones open to draft-day trade for a receiver
" Jones emphatically denied that he's talked to Cincinnati about the availability of disgruntled receiver Chad Johnson, who is threatening to sit out the season if he doesn't get a new contract. ESPN reported this week that the Bengals informed Washington, which was offering its first-round pick (No. 21) and a conditional third-rounder in 2009, that Johnson wasn't available. Arizona's Anquan Boldin and Detroit's Roy Williams are other veteran receivers the Cowboys could be eyeing. "
Latest Pacman revelations are news to Dallas Cowboys
" Jerry Jones said on Tuesday that all he knew was what he'd read about the latest twist in the Pacman Jones saga, revelations that the suspended cornerback paid $15,000 in "extortion" money to Arvin Kenti Edwards."
What's next for Pacman? It's murky
"Although a trade that would send Jones from the Titans to the Dallas Cowboys had been stalled for a couple of weeks, new developments in the Las Vegas case seem likely to keep him on the sideline and not provide the closure he said he desires."
Draft gets Dallas Cowboys' trade winds going
" We all know Jerry Jones is going to make a deal with one of his first-round picks in Saturday's draft. He can't help himself. "
'Opportunity' excites owner
"Many draft experts have the Cowboys taking a running back -- namely Felix Jones of Arkansas -- in the first round to complement starter Marion Barber. Owner Jones said the Cowboys can address running back at some point in the draft because of the depth at the position, but he said "there's no gun to our head at all." Jones also said Barber's contract status will have no impact on any draft-day decisions."
Cowboys should have plenty of options at draft
" With two picks in the first round (Nos. 22 and 28), the Cowboys also have plenty of options, including swapping one for the veteran receiver Jones has said he would like to pair with Terrell Owens. Dallas could also either trade up if a coveted player falls or trade down for more picks."
We know L.T.; Marion, you're not an L.T. back
"Everybody at Valley Ranch was prepared for the day when a certain key player demanded to be paid like the very best at his position. The Dallas Cowboys just expected that player to be DeMarcus Ware, not Marion Barber. Has anybody who has done so little ever asked for so much?"
NFL owners feeling pinch on wallets
" Rookie contracts are so high that Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones is hesitant to trade up from the No. 22 and No. 28 picks in the NFL draft to the top 10. Doing so to get Arkansas running back Darren McFadden might cost Jones more than veteran Marion Barber, who is negotiating a new deal."
Dallas Cowboys retain negotiating rights with Barber, Canty
" With the passing of Friday's deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets with other clubs, the Cowboys retained negotiating rights with running back Marion Barber and defensive end Chris Canty."
Sources: Dallas Cowboys offer Barber deal for $30 million
" Marion Barber made it to the Pro Bowl last season without starting a regular-season game. Now, he's looking for a big payday. The Cowboys have held preliminary talks with the running back's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, according to multiple sources, and are offering a financial package in the $30 million range. Barber wants a package between $40 million and $60 million. "
Cowboys: Jones talks trades
"Asked if he would consider making a draft-day trade for a veteran receiver such as Cincinnati's Chad Johnson, Arizona's Anquan Boldin or Detroit's Roy Williams, Jerry Jones told reporters in Dallas, “Yes,” before punctuating his remark with a smile and a wink. The Cowboys own the 22nd and 28th picks in the April 26-27 draft."
Pacman won't apply for reinstatement to NFL until he's traded
" Tennessee Titans cornerback Pacman Jones said on the Michael Irvin radio show Tuesday that he will not apply for reinstatement to the NFL until a trade is completed."
Pacman to wait for trade before filing to NFL
"Suspended Titans cornerback Pacman Jones said Tuesday he's decided to wait until he's traded before filing for reinstatement with the NFL. Jones had planned to file for reinstatement Tuesday, but during an appearance on former Cowboys wideout Michael Irvin's radio show in Dallas on Tuesday morning he said he'd changed his mind."
Pacman says he’s eager for ‘new start’
"Adam “Pacman” Jones said on a Dallas radio station Tuesday that he will wait until he knows where he will play and if he has satisfied all of Commissioner Roger Goodell’s stipulations before filing for reinstatement."
Pacman's trade has big stakes
"Even NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has admitted he is at least a little impressed by what he hears. All in all, there is a repackaged Pacman out there, just waiting to be traded from the Titans to the Cowboys."
Cowboys Q&A
"Q: Jerry's still talking about a mega trade. I thought a little about how far up they've have to go to get Rashard Mendenhall. What about trading the 22nd and 28th pick for WR Roy Williams and Detroit's 15th pick, then they could take Mendenhall AND get Roy Williams!"
Cowboys up offer for Titans' Pacman
"Talks are back on, and the Dallas Cowboys have increased their offer to the Titans for suspended cornerback Pacman Jones, according to a source."
Cowboys increase offer for Pacman
"The Dallas Cowboys increased their offer over the weekend for suspended cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones, but the Tennessee Titans are still holding out for more compensation. Trade talks involving the Titans and Cowboys restarted over the weekend, according to sources, and Dallas’ offer was significantly more than the late round pick previously offered. The Titans, however, are still believed to be holding out for a fourth-round pick, plus more, as they had previously asked for a fourth-round choice in the 2009 draft as well..."
Pacman situation unlikely to affect Cowboys' approach to draft
" Trade talks between the Cowboys and the Tennessee Titans could bring cornerback Pacman Jones to Dallas before the NFL draft, which begins April 26. But the result of those negotiations is unlikely to affect the Cowboys' approach with its two first-round picks, according to executive vice president Stephen Jones."
Pacman talks heating up again
"Trade talks involving the Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys for suspended cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones have heated up once again. After being quiet in the days after the NFL owners meetings last week, trade talks appear to be once again gathering steam and the sides are getting closer, according to sources. A league source indicated to The City Paper late last week that a trade involving Jones was “still likely” to happen, despite a statement from Cowboys owner Jerry Jones late last week that he did not know whether the deal would go through. "
Agent: Pacman to apply for reinstatement Tuesday
"Pacman Jones will apply for reinstatement to the NFL on Tuesday, according to his lawyer, Manny Arora."

Pacman Seeking relief
"If Commissioner Roger Goodell isn't willing to reinstate Pacman Jones soon, agent Manny Arora hopes Goodell at least will ease up on some restrictions imposed on the suspended cornerback."
Potential deal for Pacman losing steam, Dallas Cowboys owner says
"Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is not planning his off-season around Pacman Jones. He said that in deciding whether to acquire him, he does not need to know if the suspended Tennessee Titans defensive back will be reinstated before the NFL Draft. Although the potential deal does not appear to be dead, Jones said Wednesday the momentum for it is dying."
Cowboys "unlikely" to pursue troubled Cincinnati receiver Chris Henry
"Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Wednesday that acquiring recently released Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry, who was a college teammate of Pacman Jones at West Virginia, is ?unlikely.?"
Pacman OK on tradeoff in contract
"There has been no movement in trade talks between the Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys regarding suspended Titans cornerback Pacman Jones. But don't blame Jones. Jones is willing to do his part to facilitate a trade, including forgoing money owed to him by the Titans to offset the signing bonus money the team is demanding he repay, his agent, Manny Arora, confirmed via text messages."
No need to rush Pacman deal
" If you're worrying about why it's taking the Cowboys so long to acquire Pacman Jones, then stop it. Dallas is taking absolutely the right approach with Tennessee. "
Williams wants to stay in Detroit
"Detroit Lions receiver Roy Williams has heard all the talk and rumors about a possible draft-day trade to the Dallas Cowboys and said he is prepared for whatever happens. The former Longhorns star -- who was in Austin over the weekend for the Texas Relays and the Michael Huff celebrity basketball game -- wants to stay in Detroit."
Williams Wants to be a Lion, but not opposed to playing with T.O.
"Receiver Roy Williams once again has reiterated he wants to stay a Detroit Lion, but is unsure if the team will pay him. Speaking at his alma mater Texas to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram over the weekend, Williams said, "Of course I want to stay in Detroit. Everybody wants to stay with the team that drafted them. They are telling me I am going to be a Lion for at least one more season. That’s what I have on my mind.""
Draw the line here: Pacman -- well, maybe; Henry -- no way
"How many criminals are enough criminals? And if Pacman Jones is OK for the Cowboys, why not also a talented receiver like Chris Henry? Hold your angry e-mails. That Henry reference is a joke question. Just having some fun. But those of us who have gone light on crime in the case of Pacman, now find ourselves on a slippery slope."
Jones not ready to show how much he likes his best corner
"We have somehow stumbled into a sports "bizzaro world," a parallel universe where Pacman Jones is coveted and Terence Newman is taken for granted. It's true. I wouldn't have believed this myself, but the e-mail reaction to Newman's little declaration that "I just want to be paid as one of the top corners" was swift and brutal."
Pacman is a gamer, Titans coach says
"Tennessee Titans cornerback Pacman Jones has never had a problem on the field. He also has never been a problem in the locker room, Titans coach Jeff Fisher said Tuesday."
Cowboys, Titans view Pacman differently
"There's a difference of opinion between the Dallas Cowboys and Tennessee Titans in trade talks involving Adam "Pacman" Jones. The Cowboys see a troubled player down to his last strike, so they don't want to overpay for his services."
Pacman-to-Cowboys trade is no closer to resolution
"Titans Coach Jeff Fisher left a window cracked for Pacman Jones on Tuesday, but reiterated that chances are better the suspended cornerback will be traded or released. For now, a trade with the Cowboys seems most likely. "
Pacman deserves decision
"No, Goodell went plural in his reference to NFL teams that have inquired about the timetable for Jones' possible reinstatement. This is good news for the Titans. It creates the perception that the Cowboys are not the only team with an interest — serious or fleeting — in Jones."
Hamlin closing in on new deal
"Hamlin's agent, Kennard McGuire, met with Cowboys officials Tuesday during the lunch break at the NFL owners meetings. A long-term deal could be nearing completion... Disgruntled Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Johnson isn't likely to be the receiver the Cowboys add, even though he has stated a desire to play in Dallas... The Cowboys could make a play for Arizona Cardinals receiver Anquan Boldin or Detroit Lions receiver Roy Williams."
Pacman talks are on the clock
"If the Dallas Cowboys trade for cornerback Pacman Jones, it likely will happen in the next few days, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Monday. "
Commissioner warns that 'Pacman' return not a given
"Cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones might become a Dallas Cowboy in 2008. But he might not play until 2009. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday at the NFL's spring meeting that he's in no rush to reinstate Jones, who was suspended from the Tennessee Titans for the 2007 season for conduct detrimental to the league. "
Goodell stands firm on Pacman position
" Although he says he found some of Adam “Pacman” Jones' recent comments “encouraging,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suggested Monday he's in no hurry to consider reinstating the suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback."
Forget McFadden: Dallas Cowboys' plan is about Romo
" This off-season for the Dallas Cowboys isn't about Darren McFadden. It's about Tony Romo. If it were about McFadden, the Cowboys would trade up to the top five of the NFL draft to land the all-time leading rusher at Arkansas, Jerry Jones' alma mater. "
Pacman's agent denies report of Dallas trade
"The agent representing suspended Tennessee Titans defensive back Adam "Pacman" Jones denied an Internet report that said his client had been traded to the Dallas Cowboys for a fifth-round pick."

Cowboys duo OK with 'Pacman'
" You can count Sam Hurd and Quincy Butler among the Dallas Cowboys who would welcome Adam "Pacman" Jones with open arms."
Cowboys better be prepared to hold Pacman's hand
" With a locker room containing an abundance of solid citizens and a player development staff headed by the dignified Calvin Hill, the Cowboys have the infrastructure in place to help troubled cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones turn his life around."
Jones rules out trade into top five to select McFadden
" Jerry Jones has ruled out making a trade that would position the Dallas Cowboys to select Arkansas running back Darren McFadden with one of the first five picks in the draft, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram."
