Arizona Cardinals Trade Rumors

Seattle, Arizona see value in Chargers backup QB
"This past week, the NFP's Michael Lombardi wrote about Chargers QB Charlie Whitehurst possibly landing in Arizona with Ken Whisenhunt and challenging Matt Leinart for playing time. Seattle is another squad that has already looked into the idea of landing Whitehurst, and now there are reports that both clubs could be close to signing the Chargers backup QB to an offer sheet. We can look at the Seattle interest in Whitehurst as a possible move for the future once the club transitions away from current starter Matt Hasselbeck. Or, just like Arizona, as more competition during training camp. The question still remains, why Whitehurst - a RFA will little game experience? Sources within the ..."
Former Pittsburgh Steelers Larry Foote, Joey Porter eye possible jobs with Arizona Cardinals
"Two more ex-Pittsburgh Steelers rolled through town Thursday and saw enough familiar faces to make them feel right at home. Now if the Arizona Cardinals will just offer them the contracts they're seeking. Inside linebacker Larry Foote and outside linebacker Joey Porter, former teammates in Pittsburgh, both said they would like to play for the Cardinals, who have needs at both spots. Foote, who played last year in Detroit, would replace Karlos Dansby, who left for Miami. Porter, who played the past three seasons in Miami, is looking for a team closer to his home of Bakersfield, Calif. Foote said the Cardinals were his first choice "without a doubt," but that the Steelers and Redskins were ..."
Arizona Cardinals sign Anthony Becht; linebackers Joey Porter, Larry Foote to visit team Thursday
"The Cardinals continued to make forays into free agency on Wednesday, re-signing one player and entertaining a handful of visiting candidates. Tight end Anthony Becht, a key to the team's improved running game last year, agreed to terms on a 1-year, $950,000 contract. Tight end Stephen Spach also agreed on a 1-year deal. Those terms were not disclosed. Defensive end Jeremy Clark signed his exclusive-rights tender. Negotiations continue with free safety Matt Ware, despite a report that he had agreed to terms. On Wednesday, offensive lineman Rex Hadnot, most recently with Cleveland, and Chargers quarterback Charlie Whitehurst visited. It's unknown whether the club made contract offers. The ..."
Matt Leinart no sure thing as Arizona Cardinals QB
"NFL quarterbacks seeking work should find the Cardinals an attractive potential employer, partly because coach Ken Whisenhunt treats the position much like any other. Kurt Warner announced his retirement more than a month ago, yet Whisenhunt has yet to officially name Matt Leinart the starter, even though he's the only quarterback on the roster. Whisenhunt has professed confidence in Leinart at every opportunity but also joked that he doesn't have many alternatives. After three years under Whisenhunt, Leinart probably expects nothing more. Some coaches coddle quarterbacks. Whisenhunt, however, seems to prefer the creative tension created by competition for the job, and that should be a big ..."
Arizona Cardinals re-sign Anthony Becht to 1-year deal
"Tight end Anthony Becht agreed to a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals, and contrary to reports, free safety Matt Ware continues to negotiate with the club. Becht, who will be in his 11th season, will receive a $50,000 signing bonus and a salary of $900,000. Becht was used mostly as a blocker last season and played a key role in the club's improved run game. In free agency, he had drawn interest from the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers."
QB Derek Anderson to visit Seahawks and Cardinals
"Former Browns quarterback Derek Anderson, who blasted Browns fans yesterday and then apologized today, will visit the Seahawks tomorrow and the Cardinals on Friday, a league source confirmed for the Plain Dealer. The visits were first reported on espn.com. Anderson's contract was terminated by the Browns yesterday, less than 24 hours after they traded a late-round pick for former Seattle backup quarterback Seneca Wallace."
Ravens trade for wide receiver Boldin
"The Ravens made a bold move to improve their passing game, trading for Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Anquan Boldin. It is believed the Ravens sent third- and fourth-round picks to the Cardinals in exchange for Boldin and a fifth-round pick. According to ESPN, Boldin has agreed to a new four-year, $28 million contract. It is believed the Ravens beat out the Kansas City Chiefs for the three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver. "The Ravens just got better," coach John Harbaugh said. "Anquan is a significant addition for us. He fits the personality of our team with the hard-nosed, physical way he plays. We love the way he competes. Our fans will enjoy watching him compete and his teammates will be ..."
Giants start free-agent period quickly, pursue ex-Cardinal Antrel Rolle
"The Giants got a jump on the free-agent market Thursday night and appeared poised to open their vault for Pro Bowl safety Antrel Rolle. Rolle, 27, is reportedly scheduled to visit the Giants this morning, one day after he was released by the Cardinals. The Giants were one of four teams that immediately jumped into the bidding, joining the Dolphins, Bears and the Cards, who were still hoping to bring him back."
Karlos Dansby to visit the Miami Dolphins on Friday
"So after all that silliness from other media outlets on Twitter, we at the Sun Sentinel were only off by a matter of hours. Karlos Dansby is coming to visit the Miami Dolphins after all. He said as much on ESPN's NFL Live just now. "Right now, so far, I just got off the phone with my agent, Todd France, and he told me our first visit right now is Miami," Dansby, the free agent linebacker from the Arizona Cardinals, said by (air?) phone. "I think we have some other things lined up. Right now I'm on the phone with two guys. [France] is probably trying to text me and talk to other teams as we speak." So, no, it doesn't sound like Dansby is necessarily coming to South Florida for a big press ..."
Dolphins to make strong offer for Dansby
"Call it the changing of the linebackers. Joey Porter is on his way out the door, and free agent Karlos Dansby apparently is on his way in. The Dolphins are expected to announce Porter's release Friday, which will save the team $9.5 million over the next two seasons. An NFL source says plenty of that savings will be offered to Dansby. However, on Friday Dansby and his representatives will be in Davie to work out the details of a lucrative, multiyear contract that the Dolphins hope will end the linebacker's brief free agency. The NFL's free agent signing period begins at midnight. Dansby is pursuing a contract that will trump the five-year, $40 million deal the New York Jets gave Bart Scott ..."
Rolle Released
"For now, Antrel Rolle is no longer a Cardinal. As expected, the franchise released their starting free safety Thursday to avoid the $4 million roster bonus he was due had he been on the team as of 10 p.m. Thursday night and the additional $8.1 million salary due in the final year of his rookie contract. Rolle becomes an unrestricted free agent – and the Cards will make him one of their top free-agent priorities. The Cardinals already had extended a long-term contract offer, but Rolle wanted to see what his worth would be on the open market. The Chicago Tribune reported Rolle is seeking a contract worth $8 million a season, which would make him the highest-paid safety in the NFL. That same ..."
Cardinals interested in NY Giants backup quarterback David Carr, report says
"David Carr wants a shot at a starting quarterback job once again. Perhaps the Cardinals will be the team to give him that chance. The Cards are interested in the Giants' backup, who is slated to become an unrestricted free agent on Friday. So says Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic. The 30-year-old Carr admitted recently he fell out of love with football after a disastrous experience with the Texans, who drafted him No. 1 overall in 2002. It wasn't until Carr arrived in East Rutherford two years ago that his passion for the game was rekindled. Carr has enjoyed his time with the Giants so much that he wouldn't mind coming back for a third season. But more than that, Carr wants a legit ..."
Cardinals extend tender offers to Steve Breaston, 4 others
"The Cardinals have extended tender offers to each of their five key restricted free agents. There were no surprises among the moves. Receiver Steve Breaston received the first-round tender of $2.396 million. (Meaning if the Cardinals decline to match an offer, they would receive a first-round draft pick in return.) Guard Deuce Lutui received a second-round tender offer. Because Lutui was a second-round pick, the Cardinals could have tendered him at $1.176 million or $1.759 million. The club extended the higher amount to Lutui, a starter since midway through his rookie season."
Cardinals working on way to keep Rolle around
"While the Cardinals are expected to release safety Antrel Rolle if they can't extend his contract before he's due a $4 million bonus this month, NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reports the team still would remain the favorite to re-sign the Pro Bowler. Cardinals general manager Rod Graves has said the organization is working on restructuring and extending Rolle's current deal, which calls for more than $8 million in salary."
Cardinals hoping to keep Rolle off open market
"The Arizona Cardinals are going to continue with their efforts to try to re-sign free safety Antrel Rolle, but barring an unexpected breakthrough he is expected to hit the open market and become a potential Bears target. The problem for the Cardinals is he is owed $12 million this coming season ($8 million plus a pending $4 million roster bonus) and isn't inclined to renegotiate. If the Cardinals can't sign him to a long-term deal, they are expected to release him and let him enter the free market, where he will be perhaps the most pursued veteran at his position. "We're going to try hard to get a contract in place with him before we have to make a decision about his contract," Cardinals ..."
Cardinals to release former first-round pick Antrel Rolle
"Arizona's eventful offseason will continue this week when the Cardinals release former first-round pick Antrel Rolle, an NFL source said Sunday. Rolle's release will follow Kurt Warner's retirement and the Cardinals decision not to use their franchise tag on linebacker Karlos Dansby. Rolle will become the premier safety in this year's free-agent class, but it is still possible the safety will return to the Cardinals. Arizona would like to have Rolle back, and the two sides continue to talk about a potential return. With less than a week until the start of the March 5 free-agent signing period, Rolle wants to see what he's worth at a time when the Cardinals are reluctant to pay him more ..."
Cards say Boldin could be traded
"The Arizona Cardinals aren't ruling out trading wide receiver Anquan Boldin this offseason. "Our approach with Anquan is really the same as what it was last year: We're going to consider all our options," General Manager Rod Graves said here Saturday "... We'll go through what the options are throughout the offseason, and make the decision that's best for our team." Boldin has clashed with team officials in the past over his contract and the Cardinals previously have indicated a willingness to listen to trade offers for him, without completing a deal. "We're going to look at all the options regarding Anquan and regarding all our players," Coach Ken Whisenhunt said Saturday."
LB Dansby expected to draw heavy interest
"The third in a three-part series on NFL free agents. Karlos Dansby would look good in a Giants uniform, but Big Blue will need to get in line if they want the veteran linebacker when free agency starts Friday. That's explained by the dearth of talented and experienced players at Dansby's position, with it looking like the NFL will operate without a salary cap in 2010. Dansby is a serviceable linebacker who occasionally posted big sack numbers with the Cardinals. But with the market likely depleted by so many players being made restricted free agents if no labor deal is reached, he could soon cash in to the tune of $30 million or more because of heavy interest from the Dolphins, Chargers, ..."
Cardinals extend contracts of coach Ken Whisenhunt, GM Rod Graves
"Ken Whisenhunt has accomplished a lot of firsts in three years as coach of the Arizona Cardinals, winning consecutive division titles and appearing in a Super Bowl. He established another milestone this week, becoming the first coach in the team's Arizona history to sign a second contract. The remaining two years on Whisenhunt's original contract were torn up and replaced by a four-year deal with a team option for a fifth season. The team also announced that General Manager Rod Graves, whose contract had expired, signed a four-year deal. Whisenhunt now is among the NFL's higher-paid head coaches, according to sources. The Cardinals did not announce financial terms of the two contracts, but ..."
Cardinals have big 'off-season' ahead
"The Cardinals won't play a game that counts until September, but given the challenges they face over the next few months, it's hard to call this the "off-season." Two key defensive starters, inside linebacker Karlos Dansby and free safety Antrel Rolle, likely will be unrestricted free agents on March 5. Matt Leinart is the only quarterback under contract. Receiver Anquan Boldin could be traded, and defensive end Darnell Dockett wants more money. Throw in a season without a salary cap, different free-agent rules and preparations for the draft, and it's hard to imagine General Manager Rod Graves being separated from his BlackBerry for more than an hour this spring. "There are certainly a few ..."
Antrel Rolle's impending release should interest Dolphins
"There's been a definite connection between the Dolphins and the star-laden Arizona Cardinals this offseason. The talk of Pahokee native Anquan Boldin possibly going to Miami has been going on for weeks. The news last week that the Cardinals wouldn't put a franchise tag on linebacker Karlos Dansby combined with a radio interview in which Dansby said he'd love to play for the Dolphins came last week. And now it's safety Antrel Rolle's turn. A former University of Miami standout who still spends his offseasons in South Florida, Rolle apparently will be released in the coming week, creating sure-fire speculation that he could be the answer to the Dolphins' free safety problem."
Dansby a Giant option
"With reports surfacing that the Cardinals will not place the franchise tag on linebacker Karlos Dansby for a third consecutive year, one of the NFL's best defensive players without a contract is headed toward free agency when the signing period begins March 5. That at least would give the Giants a chance to sniff around before deciding whether or not to try to place Dansby into their shopping basket. The release of Antonio Pierce leaves the Giants without a proven or experienced middle linebacker, but if they want to pursue Dansby they are going to have to go against their long-standing track record of steering clear of the most expensive players. The Cardinals retained Dansby the past two ..."
Cardinals will not place franchise tag on Karlos Dansby, according to team source
"The Cardinals are prepared to let linebacker Karlos Dansby test the open market in free agency this year and will not place the franchise tag on him for a third consecutive season, a team source confirmed Thursday. That does not, however, mean Dansby's days with the franchise are over. The Cardinals will monitor the situation when free-agent offers are allowed to be made and then decide then if they wish to make an offer of their own. The team appears to be gambling that Dansby won't command as much as a free agent as he would as a franchise player, which could be as much as $16 million guaranteed. Dansby regularly has led the Cardinals in tackles, but this past season produced only one ..."
Cardinals sign CFL linebacker
"The Cardinals added depth to their outside linebacker corp Thursday by signing Stevie Baggs to a one-year contract. Baggs spent the past four seasons in the Canadian Football League, including the past two as a defensive end with the Saskatchewan Roughriders where he tied for the league lead with 12 sacks and made 55 tackles."
Kurt Warner announces retirement
"An old man, at least by NFL standards, became young again today, as Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner announced his retirement from the game at age 38. In a news conference at the team's Tempe facility, Warner said he was walking away from the game after 12 seasons while he could still walk. Befitting the devout Christian that he is, Warner's career was defined by ascension and resurrection. He made it to the NFL after spending time playing in Europe, the Arena League and stocking shelves at the Hi-Vee Grocery Store back home in Iowa. He helped two moribund franchises, the St. Louis Rams and Arizona Cardinals, make it to three Super Bowls, winning two MVP awards and making four Pro Bowl ..."
Warner likely retiring, and we'll miss him
"It's D-Day - Decision Day - in the Valley, as Cardinals fans hold their collective breath waiting for Kurt Warner to announce his plans for the future Friday afternoon. Is he coming back for one last Super Bowl run with the Cardinals? Or leaving a Hall of Fame career on his own terms? Much of the speculation centers around the latter, simply because Warner is having a press conference. Last year, when he also entertained thoughts of retirement, he decided to come back by simply informing the team. He was a free agent at the time, so things were different. But, still, you get the feeling that this is the end of the line for Warner. Only Warner knows for sure; the rest of us will find out at ..."
Source: Warner announcement Friday
"Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner will announce Friday at a news conference whether he plans to retire, according to a Cardinals source. The widespread assumption -- one that hasn't changed for weeks -- is that the 38-year-old Warner will step away from the game. One possible indication of Warner's intentions is that he already has begun gathering his family so they can attend Friday's news conference at the team's training facility, according to sources. Warner also has another added motivation for a quick decision: He has multiple promotional appearance commitments during Super Bowl week in Miami. Rather than answer retirement questions then, Warner would prefer to remove the ..."
Kurt Warner to hold Friday news conference
"Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner likely will announce his retirement decision on Friday at a press conference at the team's training facility in Tempe. The news was first reported by ESPN, and his agent, Mark Bartelstein, confirmed that a press conference "probably" would be held on Friday. The Cardinals have not announced a press conference, and it would be unusual for them to do so two days before the event. Bartelstein declined to say what Warner had decided. "That's for Kurt to say," Bartelstein said. "I'd rather let him make the announcement.""
When will Cardinals QB Kurt Warner make his decision?
"There have been no updates about Kurt Warner's retirement decision, but the timing of it could be interesting, given his schedule over the next two weeks. Warner is enjoying some down time with his family this week. Next week, he is scheduled to make appearances at the Super Bowl in Miami on Tuesday and Wednesday. Warner will be there on behalf of Disney and milk. No, I'm not kidding. I don't know if apple pie dropped him or what. In Miami, Warner will be making the rounds on radio row. On Thursday, Warner is scheduled to appear as a motivational speaker in Phoenix. I wonder if he will want to do all that if he hasn't made an announcement about retirement."
Has Gailey found his OC?
"Radio station XTRA 910 in Phoenix is reporting that Arizona Cardinals running backs coach Curtis Modkins will be the Bills' offensive coordinator. The Bills haven't made any official announcement on Chan Gailey's staff hires, but Modkins' connection with Gailey runs deep. Prior to working in Arizona, Modkins spent the 2008 season with Kansas City, where Gailey was the offensive coordinator. Modkins served an NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship in the summer of '99 with the Dallas Cowboys when Gailey was the head coach and worked for Gailey at Georgia Tech, coaching defensive backs in 2002 and running backs from 2003-07."
Reilly: The end is near for Warner
"Kurt Warner. Flattened like a tortilla. Can hardly breathe. Every rib howling. Wife watching. Can't breathe either. And they pile on. Four of them. Pain doubles. Pain like passing a softball through your kidney. No penalty flag. No nothing. Of course, this was in Warner's Arizona living room. Monday. With four of his kids. Two days after one of the most eyeball-rattling hits he'd ever taken, in the Arizona Cardinals' blowout playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints. "This is the sorest I've ever been," says Warner, 38. And you wonder why he's thinking of retiring? Still, if Warner does quit in the next couple of weeks -- talk to him, you'll be convinced he will -- it won't be because of his ..."
Warner key to Cards' offseason plans
"The stakes are higher and draft picks lower when you have a pro football team that understands the month of January is not meant for vacations and golf courses. It also means the offseasons are that much more pivotal. That's where we are now with the Arizona Cardinals. This season ended up two games short of last year's amazing Super Bowl run. Yet, you can make the case that this year's team was actually better. Consider: • They won 10 games in the regular season for the first time in 33 years, repeated as NFC West champs and were in every game except one (a 31-10 loss to the Colts) — unlike 2008 when they suffered four blowout losses by scores of 56-35, 35-14, 47-7 and 48-20. • The ..."
Cardinals' Karlos Dansby says leaving team would be 'tough'
"He remembers it well. Those last dark, hot days playing at a one-third full Sun Devil Stadium when winning games was about as easy as selling tickets. Karlos Dansby is one of 13 players on the current roster who was with the Cardinals in 2005, their last season at Sun Devil Stadium. The lucky 13 helped a downtrodden franchise become a winning one. But as of Sunday, when Cardinals players cleaned out there lockers a day after losing to the New Orleans Saints in an NFL divisional playoff game, Dansby is an unrestricted free agent. He, like many of his teammates who are seeking a new contract, might not be around to see the Cardinals possibly continue their winning ways. "That would be very ..."
Plenty of reasons for Cardinals QB Kurt Warner to stay
"Kurt Warner hasn't made a decision about retirement. On the plane ride home from Saturday's playoff loss to New Orleans, the quarterback spoke with Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt and said he "needed time." Reporters were meandering through the team's training-facility locker room Sunday, sniffing for clues as players emptied their spaces. Warner would say one thing that hinted "retirement" and something else five minutes later that screamed "he's coming back." "If I thought lobbying would help, I'd lobby," Whisenhunt said. It won't. Warner has far more powerful forces tugging at him: his family, his faith and his love of the game. It is easy to find reasons he would step away, even with ..."
Kurt Warner will wait to decide on retirement
"Over the next few weeks, Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner will weigh the pros and cons of retirement - maybe when it stops hurting to breathe. Warner was still experiencing soreness in the chest and rib area Saturday evening after taking a hard hit there on an interception return. "You know, anytime you get hit like that it makes you think twice about playing this game," he said, jokingly. Warner reiterated that he will follow the same process he's used after the past few seasons. He'll get away from football, relax, consult with his wife, Brenda, and then decide whether he'll play in 2010, the final year of his contract. "I have some ideas in my head," he said, "but you want to get away ..."
Grimm likely to rebuff Bills' interview request
"The Buffalo Bills didn't interview Arizona Cardinals offensive line coach Russ Grimm this week, and it's doubtful the two sides will ever get together. There are strong indications that Grimm is not interested in the job. He has said numerous times that he's happy coaching in Arizona and is comfortable with his situation there. The Bills got permission from Arizona to speak to Grimm on Monday, but no meeting took place. The Cardinals had a short practice week. Coming off a win over Green Bay on Sunday, they visit New Orleans today. If the Cardinals beat the Saints, NFL rules mandate that Grimm will be off limits until the after the NFC Championship Game, two weeks prior to the Super Bowl. ..."
Source: Boldin not expected to play
"The Arizona Cardinals are not expecting wide receiver Anquan Boldin to play in Saturday's NFC divisional playoff game against New Orleans. The Cardinals, however, has not fully abandoned hopes that Boldin will be available to play, a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Thursday. The feeling is that, if the Cardinals can beat the Saints in New Orleans, Boldin would be ready to play the NFC Championship Game. Boldin has been nursing knee and ankle injuries, but his knee is more of an issue than the ankle, and it's the main reason he missed last Sunday's victory against the Packers and the main reason he is likely to sit out Saturday against the Saints."
Kurt Warner not making plans for future, yet
"Quarterback Kurt Warner was saying thank you, not necessarily goodbye, when he took a lap around the field at University of Phoenix Stadium and slapped hands with fans after Sunday's playoff victory over the Packers. Warner's potential retirement became a story Sunday when ESPN reported that people close to Warner expect him to retire, unless he changes his mind. Warner denied that he has made any plans, and the lap was not a farewell one. "That was my way of saying thanks to the fans because I know we're not coming back here this year," Warner said of the lap. "I appreciate them. We haven't played our best football at home this year, but they've been incredible for us." After throwing ..."
Boldin's time with Cardinals could be near end
"Not long ago, it was receiver Anquan Boldin's locker that reporters surrounded to ask their State of the Cardinals questions. It was his picture that team management pointed to and told scouts, "We need more players like this." It was his contract extension that once was hailed as a new era for a franchise that once almost held the doors open as star players departed. Four years ago, after Boldin signed an extension, a time such as this seemed impossible. But as the Cardinals enter the playoffs Sunday, each game could be Boldin's last with the team. The 2010 season is the final year of his contract. After three years of seeking an extension, it's more likely that Boldin will be traded ..."
Fitz says he's in; Gandy is out
"Receiver Larry Fitzgerald increased his workload in Friday's practice and said afterward there is no doubt he is going to play Sunday at Detroit. Fitzgerald suffered a bone contusion and sprained ligament in his right knee Monday night against San Francisco. He has been limited in practice all week, and I would guess he will be listed as questionable. The injury report isn't out yet."
Schwartz: Matthew Stafford not likely to play vs. Cardinals
"Quarterback Matthew Stafford was deemed "not likely to play" this week against Arizona by Lions coach Jim Schwartz after the rookie missed practice again Wednesday. Stafford is expected miss his second straight game since aggravating the sprained AC joint in his left shoulder in a Dec. 6 loss at Cincinnati. Stafford, who initially injured his non-throwing shoulder Nov. 22 against Cleveland, hasn't practiced since the Bengals game and said he hasn't done any throwing other than just some casual tosses on the side. "He's probably in about the same boat that he was," Schwartz said of Stafford, who was a bystander at practice Wednesday while Daunte Culpepper continued to take the first-team ..."
Fitzgerald expects to play
"Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzerald, who suffered a sprained right knee and bone bruise in Monday's loss to San Francisco, said he expects to play this Sunday against the Detroit Lions. "I'll be out there ready to help my guys out," said Fitzgerald, who went through a limited practice on Wednesday. An MRI on Tuesday determined the injury was not as serious as Fitzgerald first feared. Fitzgerald has started 37 consecutive games for Arizona.Fitzgerald said the knee is still a "little painful," but he was able to do some light running in Wednesday's workout. "By Friday I'll be feeling really good," he said."
Cardinals to sign K Nugent as temporary replacement for Rackers
"The Cardinals are expected to sign Mike Nugent as a temporary replacement for kicker Neil Rackers, who is struggling with a pulled groin muscle. Nugent's signing, likely to be announced today, will give Rackers time to heal before the post-season. Nugent kicked for the Jets from 2005 to 2008, when he was cut after one game. He kicked in four games this year for Tampa Bay and missed four of six field goals, including one that was blocked."
Staley probably out
"Though left tackle Joe Staley had hoped to return Monday night when the 49ers play Arizona, it now looks like the left tackle won't be back in the lineup by then. He's been out since spraining his right knee Nov. 1 at Indianapolis. Staley was limited in practice Friday, working only on individual drills. Barry Sims took all the snaps at left tackle in team sessions, a strong indication that he will remain in the lineup at least another week. "I'm hoping to play. We'll see how it goes," Staley said. Offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye seems inclined to stay with Sims for now in the interest of continuity. "Their coordination has gotten better," Raye said. "The same five guys have played ..."
Would you want Dockett playing for Seahawks?
"So, Seahawks fans. Here's an interesting question. If Darnell Dockett was willing to play for your team, would you suddenly be interested? Dockett is the talented defensive tackle of the Arizona Cardinals who angered many Seattle fans last month with an elbow to the throat of Matt Hasselbeck. It was a cheap shot that left the Seahawks' quarterback gasping for air and coach Jim Mora suggesting his own players should employ such tactics if the officials aren't going to call it. Now Dockett is making noise about not getting paid enough for his services in Arizona. And he told Dan Bickley of the Arizona Republic that if he goes to another team, he'll want it to be in the NFC West so he can ..."
