Philadelphia 76ers Trade Rumors

Judge to Allen Iverson: I'm Garnishing Your Wages to Pay Back Your Jeweler
"Allen Iverson's bank account has been commandeered by a Georgia judge ... who's garnishing the former NBA star's earnings so A.I. can repay a 6-figure debt to his flashy GA jeweler. According to court papers obtained by TMZ ... Iverson was sued back in 2010 for allegedly stiffing Aydin & Company Jewelers on a $375,000 bill. The records show ... A.I. never responded to the lawsuit ... so a default judgement was issued in favor of the jewelry store ... allowing A&C to collect $859,896.46 for the bling, court costs, interest and attorneys fees."
Source: Sixers inquire about Stoudemire
"Last year at this stage of the season, Amare Stoudemire was the toast of New York. Every time he stepped to the foul line during games at Madison Square Garden, Stoudemire was serenaded with, "M-V-P!" chants and was cited as the catalyst for the resurgence of the Knicks. These days Stoudemire and the Knicks are struggling to a degree that the inevitable trade chatter is beginning to heat up. According to a league source, the Sixers have inquired about Stoudemire, though it was categorized as "due diligence." Nothing is said to be imminent or even in the early stages other than just talk, the source said. Nevertheless, in past seasons the Sixers were reportedly discussing trade scenarios"
Sixers find center in The Netherlands
"Francisco Elson was in The Netherlands on Tuesday when the 76ers called to invite him for a workout and a chance to make the team. He worked out Thursday morning, and on Friday he signed a contract. So forgive him, he said, if he seemed a little tired. "I'm jet-lagged and everything," Elson said. "So if you catch me on the bench sleeping, you'll know where it's coming from." Sixers coach Doug Collins said he doesn't plan to use Elson during games, at least for now, even though his top two centers, Spencer Hawes and Nikola Vucevic, are still out with injuries. Hawes missed his sixth straight game with a left Achilles' strain and Vucevic his third straight with a quad strain. Hawes said"
Sixers trade Speights to Memphis for picks
"At first, there was so much promise when the 76ers selected Marreesse Speights 16th overall in the 2008 draft. The Sixers were desperately looking for a big man, someone to eventually replace Samuel Dalembert. So they drafted him ahead of big men such as Indiana's Roy Hibbert, Washington's JaVale McGee and the Los Angeles Clippers' DeAndre Jordan. Three years later, it turns out the Sixers were wrong. They confirmed their mistake by trading Speights to the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a three-team deal involving the New Orleans Hornets. The Sixers got back the Grizzlies' second-round pick in the June draft (provided it's between the 31st and 55th pick, otherwise Miami gets it), and the"
Report: Sixers agree to trade Speights
"According to reports, the Sixers have agreed to a deal that will ship forward Marreese Speights to Memphis. In return, the Sixers would get two second-round picks from New Orleans. The Hornets (who the Sixers play on Wednesday night) would get Memphis' Xavier Henry. Speights, in his fourth year, has not appeared in any of the Sixers' four games this season. He has averaged 7.2 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game in his career."
Grizzlies prepare offer sheet for Bobcats' forward, discuss trade with Sixers
"The Grizzlies are preparing an offer sheet for Charlotte Bobcats restricted free agent Dante Cunningham, and team officials have held trade discussions with the Philadelphia 76ers as a response to forward Darrell Arthur's season-ending Achilles injury. Magnetic resonance imaging performed Monday on Arthur confirmed that he has a torn right Achilles and will miss the entire 2011-12 season. Memphis, shorthanded up front before Arthur's injury, is in the market for two frontcourt players. Cunningham is viewed as a close replacement for Arthur, and the Griz also have 76ers versatile big man Marresse Speights on their radar, according to sources with knowledge of the Grizzlies' thinking."
Source: Sixers bring back veteran Battie
"Assuming the Sixers are able to retain restricted free agents Thaddeus Young and Spencer Hawes, their roster will have 13 players. They have now added that free agent body to make it 14, according to a source. Veteran Tony Battie is returning to the team for a second straight season. The 13-year veteran appeared in 39 regular season games last year and played in all five playoff games. In the games he played, he averaged 10 minutes, scoring 2.6 points and collecting 2.6 rebounds per game."
Sixers reach five-year deal with Young
"Word that Thaddeus Young had signed a new five-year, $42 million contract with the Sixers interrupted the team's first practice of training camp. "In the middle of practice (we heard) and there was a round of applause because we are glad to have Thad back because he is a hell of a player," Elton Brand said. "I was so scared that someone was going to throw some ridiculous crazy money at him and put us in a trick bag," Doug Collins said. "I am glad that didn't happen. I hope Thad is happy that he got a good deal." "We were definitely excited because Thad is a key part to our team," Evan Turner said. "He definitely brings a lot of energy, great locker room guy and he plays hard, and the"
Sixers reach five-year deal with Young
"The Sixers have reached an agreement with restricted free agent Thaddeus Young for a five-year, $42 million deal. The Sixers have said that re-signing Young was their main focus this off-season. Now, Spencer Hawes remains the only other restricted free agent from last year's team."
Report: Kapono agrees to deal with Lakers
"The Sixers appear to have lost their first player from last year's team to free agency. According to ProBasketballTalk via Yahoo! Sports, Jason Kapono has agreed to a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. The deal, which is reportedly for the veteran's minimum, can not be officially signed until 2 p.m. on Friday. Kapono was expected to stretch the floor when he was acquired from Toronto for Reggie Evans, but the sharpshooter saw limited action with the Sixers. He appeared in 57 games during the 2009-10 season, averaging 5.7 points a night, but he saw those numbers drop to 24 and 0.7 last year."
With agreement in place, what's next for Sixers
"So much to do in so little time. In the next couple of days the NBA will do its due diligence, dotting the I's and crossing the T's on an agreement that they agreed to in principle in the wee hours of Saturday morning. There will be no litigation. The NBPA will reassemble itself. A new Collective Bargaining Agreement will be ratified and a 66-game season will begin Christmas Day. If all goes as planned, NBA training camps will open on Dec. 9, as will free agency. Here's a look at what the Sixers will face before the start of the season: Free agency Fortunately for the Sixers, scrambling to sign free agents won't be too big of a deal. They have nine core guys under contract: Andre Iguodala,"
Memphian Thaddeus Young, a free agent, has a lot to lose in NBA talks
"Thaddeus Young isn't simply looking for an end to the NBA lockout. The Mitchell High School product will have his eyes on the fine print of a new collective bargaining agreement -- particularly details involving the midlevel exception. Young, a 6-8 forward, is coming off his fourth season with the Philadelphia 76ers and will swim in a pool of restricted free agents whenever a labor deal is reached. Like Grizzlies center Marc Gasol, the 23-year-old Young is in a strange place given that no one knows what the new rules will be regarding free-agent signings. Those parameters, as well as inking a long-term deal, are on Young's mind as the lockout heads into its 110th day with federal mediator"
Sixers expected to announce sale Tuesday
"Tuesday is a big day for NBA basketball fans in the city of Philadelphia. CSN has learned that a press conference called for Tuesday morning at the Palestra by the Sixers will introduce their new ownership led by multibillionaire Joshua Harris, who went to the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. (CSN and CSNPhilly.com will air the press conference live at 11:30 a.m.) Last week, the NBA Board of Governors voted unanimously to approve the sale from Comcast-Spectacor to Harris' group. Harris is one of three co-founders of Apollo Global Management, a private equity group."
Sixers hire Capel as assistant coach
"that hasn't stopped Doug Collins from filling the Sixers' vacant assistant coaching position, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. Trades and free-agent signings are prohibited during the lockout, but coaching staffs can come together and change – as many have already done this off-season. The Sixers, who have selected Jeff Capel II to fill the spot left open by the departure of assistant coach Quin Snyder, are the latest to add to their coaching staff. The 58-year-old Capel, who met with Collins in early September, has experience as a head coach at the college level as well as the the NBA D-league level, and was a former assistant coach with the Charlotte Bobcats."
NBA wants 3rd round in draft
"After an overnight flight connecting through Helsinki, Finland, I bumped into a scout for the Denver Nuggets near the tourist information booth at the quaint little airport here where the second round of EuroBasket is taking place. Whether he knows it or not, he may be here scouting future third-round draft picks. That's right: Third round. SheridanHoops.com has learned that NBA owners have proposed adding a third round to the annual draft, a proposal that the players' union has countered by offering an array of changes to the draft that would help address the owners' desire for more competitive balance."
NBA Lockout Update: Sides are closer than they're saying
"Here's the dirty little secret about the NBA lockout, despite what both sides — the owners and the players — would have you believe: They are a lot closer to a settlement than most people realize. I know this because I talk regularly with a bunch of important people who tell me important things, and I am going to explain why I believe a settlement will be reached that will not only save the season, but also enable the NBA to have an "all is forgiven" honeymoon period (similar to what the NFL just experienced following its labor settlement) in which the frenzy of free agents signings, trades, training camps and exhibition games will make everyone forget all of the doomsday talk they've been"
Next bargaining session coming early September?
"It took 46 days for the NBA and its players' union after the lockout began July 1. It didn't go all that well. Rhetoric from both sides ramped up, lawsuits started flying around and most importantly, there wasn't any movement towards the middle. Then David Stern accused the union of cancelling a meeting last week with the union responding that Billy Hunter had been told Stern wasn't going to be available for two weeks. So as you can tell, this is all going just super. But they're finally going to try again sometime in early September, according to Newsday. At this point, the union will host an executive meeting in New York at the end of August. The anticipation is the union and league"
David Stern: NBA to look at contraction
"The NBA currently has thirty teams, but the league's commissioner, David Stern, seems open to the possibility that that number of franchises could shrink in the future. Speaking on an ESPN.com podcast, Stern stated that there is some interest in contraction from both the league and players sides and that the subject will be picked up after the current Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations are completed. "[Contraction] is not a subect that we're against," Stern said. "In fact, when you talk about revenue sharing, a number of teams have said that if you have a team that is perpetually going to be a recipient, aren't you better off with the ability to buy them in? Because between the"
Despite report, Stefanski hasn't met with Raptors
"Despite reports that he was a finalist for the position, Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski hasn't yet interviewed for the Toronto Raptors' vacant general manager position, according to a source. Stefanski, who has been granted permission to speak with other teams, is expected to interview with the Raptors sometime in the next few weeks, however. Of course, since the NBA lockout is expected to drag on throughout the summer, there's no rush to fill vacant management positions. The Sixers' GM may very well wind up in Toronto, as he has ties to the organization. The Raptors, who are in the midst of rebuilding their leadership, hired coach Dwayne Casey on June 21. Casey was the runner-up to"
Comcast-Spectacor reaches deal to sell 76ers
"Pending league approval, the Philadelphia 76ers have changed ownership for the fifth time in franchise history. A group led by billionaire Joshua Harris, a director at Apollo Global Management LLC, has reached an agreement to buy the Sixers from Comcast-Spectacor. The ownership group also consists of David Blitzer; senior managing director of The Blackstone Group; Jason Levien, a former player agent and Sacramento Kings executive; and Art Wrubel (meet the new ownership). Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the sale is believed to be for $280 million. Apollo and Blackstone are not involved in the transaction; the group is making personal investments. "We are honored to have the"
Sixers' Allen to play in France until lockout ends
"Less than three weeks after fulfilling a lifetime dream and being drafted by his hometown Sixers, Lavoy Allen is now headed to France. The former Temple star was selected 50th overall by the Sixers in the second round of the NBA draft, but with the ongoing NBA lockout, the 2011-12 season is uncertain. A number of NBA players, including New Jersey Nets star Deron Williams, have already signed overseas contracts with opt-out clauses if the lockout is resolved. Allen is the latest player to take his talents to Europe. Allen signed a contract with Strasbourg IG in France. The contract includes an opt-out clause if the NBA lockout is resolved. The clause expires in January, which is when the"

Comcast has deal to sell Sixers to investors
"Comcast-Spectacor has a deal in place to sell the Philadelphia 76ers to an investor group led by Joshua Harris of Apollo Global Management, LLC, CBSSports.com has learned. There was no immediate word on a sale price, which does not include the Wells Fargo Center or the NHL's Flyers, sources said Tuesday. David Blitzer of The Blackstone Group will join Harris as lead partner, according to sources familiar with the deal. Former player agent and Sacramento Kings executive Jason Levien also is part of the proposed ownership group, sources said. Apollo, which describes itself on its web site as specializing in "contrarian" investments and "distressed" assets, and Blackstone are not involved in"
Iguodala says he wants to stay with 76ers
"Andre Iguodala insists his statement was "kind of taken out of context." Despite declining to tell the media he wanted to remain a 76er on April 28, the day after the Miami Heat eliminated the Sixers from the playoffs, and then skipping an exit interview with team officials, Iguodala now says he doesn't want to be traded. "I definitely enjoy being here," Iguodala told csnphilly.com during a basketball camp in Philadelphia on Saturday. "Whatever happens is going to happen. That's why I made the statement when the season was over that 'I'm just happy to be playing in the NBA.' "That's my childhood dream. It was kind of taken out of context. Who wouldn't want to live that dream? So why worry"
Report: 76ers sale to be done in a couple days
"About a month ago, we told you that all indications were that a 76ers sale was imminent. And according to Bloomberg, it's getting even more imminent. The Philadelphia 76ers likely will be sold to a group led by Joshua Harris, a director at Apollo Global Management LLC, in the next few business days, two people familiar with the negotiations said. Harris will pay about $280 million, according to one of the people, who were granted anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss the sale publicly. Harris co-founded Apollo Management in 1990, and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business and a master's degree from the Harvard Business"
Source: Sixers 'very close' to being sold
"The expected sale of the Sixers is almost complete. A source has confirmed that the two sides – Comcast-Spectacor and a group led by Joshua Harris – "are very close" to a deal. Earlier Thursday, Bloomberg.com reported that a deal was expected within a few business days. Harris, a director at Apollo Global Management LLC, heads the group that will buy the Sixers from Comcast-Spectacor for about $280 million. The buying price will look low compared to the last NBA team sold; the Golden State Warriors were sold last summer to Joe Lacob and Peter Guber for, according to Bloomberg, a record $450 million. The difference is the Sixers' new ownership group will not have access to two major revenue"
It only gets harder for owners, players; owners expected to push for $45 million hard cap
"The NBA's Board of Governors met Tuesday in Dallas and heard a report on collective bargaining from Spurs owner Peter Holt, chairman of its labor relations committee. The league wouldn't reveal if the board officially authorized locking out the players once the clock strikes midnight Thursday, the end of the collective bargaining agreement that's been in place since 2005, but it doesn't matter. As commissioner David Stern has warned already, such a vote is a mere formality and can be conducted by any means at any time. The first lockout authorization via text message may be mere hours away. Holt's committee will meet with the negotiating committee of the National Basketball Player's"
Free agent Young focused on remaining with Sixers
"Thaddeus Young was adamant when he said he wants to play for the Sixers for a long time. "I want to be here," the restricted free agent emphasized Tuesday after conducting his basketball camp for kids in King of Prussia, clearing up any misconceptions from a recent radio interview where the forward said he had no interest in playing on a one-year contract. The Sixers extended qualifying offers to Young and center Spencer Hawes last week. Young could reach a long-term deal with the Sixers or agree to a contract with another club, which the Sixers would have the right to match for at least one year. Under the current collective bargaining agreement, which expires at midnight on July 1, a"
Agent for Iguodala trying to get him traded to LA
"Was there any merit to reported possible Lamar Odom-Luke Walton-Andre Iguodala trade: According to a team official, the 76ers never had a conversation with the Lakers. LA-based agent Rob Pelinka "is trying to get Iguodala traded to his home city." Hence, the purported Chris Kaman-Iggy dialogue."
Sixers still need to make a deal for big scorer
"The 76ers didn't make a big splash at the NBA draft on Thursday. They still have Andre Iguodala. And coach Doug Collins was saying that the Sixers might have the perimeter scorers they need in 21-year-old Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner, who is entering his second season. Somewhere, you can hear a collective groan from the fan base that desperately wants a 20-point per game scorer like Golden State's Monta Ellis. Such a scorer, Sixers president Rod Thorn has said without mentioning names, could help take the Sixers from a .500 team to a 50-win team that makes it deep into the playoffs. "That's the next step," Thorn said. "That really separates the really good teams from the teams that are"
Collins says 76ers aren't shopping Iguodala
"By next Thursday, 76ers coach Doug Collins will have criss-crossed the country, meeting with every player on the team in advance of the potential NBA lockout that could begin as soon as July 1. Collins' last day of meetings will be in Los Angeles with Andre Iguodala. One of the subjects he plans to talk about is the trade rumors that have popped up over the last several weeks involving the Sixers' swingman. He plans to tell Iguodala that the Sixers aren't shopping him. "We want him back," Collins said. "He got nicked up last year. He was hurt. We think Dre is one of the reasons why we were a really good defensive team. I want to sit down with him. I want to talk to him. I want to see what"
Doug Collins says 76ers aren't shopping Iguodala
"Evidently 76ers coach Doug Collins didn't get the memo. A few days ago, president Rod Thorn confirmed all the rumors and speculation by saying that the team was indeed talking to other teams about Andre Iguodala. Doug Collins, yesterday: "We want Dre," Collins told The Philadelphia Inquirer on Friday. "We want him back. He got nicked up last year and was hurt and we think Dre is one of the reasons we are a good defensive team. ... Nobody is out there shopping Dre.""
Draft comes and goes with Iguodala still a Sixer
"Andre Iguodala was the talk of the town all day leading up to the NBA draft. Would he be dealt to the Lakers? Or maybe go to Minnesota? At day's end, however, No. 9 is still with the franchise that drafted him in the spring of 2004. A draft day trade seemed unlikely. But an Iguodala trade remains a possibility given that Golden State selected Klay Thompson -- a shooting guard who averaged 22 points for Washington State last season -- with the No. 11 pick Thursday night. That means the Warriors now have prominent perimeter players in Stephen Curry, Monta Ellis and Thompson. It would appear someone there has to be on the move. Maybe the Ellis-for-Iguodala trade talk gets revisited, despite"
Iguodala to the Clippers has validity
"Executives disagree on how much trade activity will surround the NBA draft Thursday night, ranging in their opinions from virtually no veterans traded to a frenzy. One scenario that rival execs believe still has validity is Andre Iguodala to the Clippers. The Sixers already have turned down the Clippers' offer of Chris Kaman and Ryan Gomes for Iguodala and Marreese Speights, and a person with knowledge of Philadelphia's stragegy said the Sixers are "not taking Kaman." It's not clear how willing the Clippers would be to give up a young asset for Iguodala. The better way to put it is, how much of an asset would it take to entice the Sixers to take Kaman, who only has one year and $12.2"
Source: Iguodala/Odom trade not true
"A long-discussed possibility sending Iguodala to Golden State for Ellis is "not dead, but not real hot," said a person connected to the talks. As for an Iguodala-for-Lamar Odom swap with the Lakers, nothing there -- "zero" -- said a source."
Iguodala for Odom trade has traction
"The trade talks between the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers have traction for one simple reason: The exchange of Lamar Odom and Andre Iguodala could provide immense benefits to both teams. The proposed deal – Iguodala for Odom and Luke Walton – would give the Lakers an elite wing defender for their championship chase. New head coach Mike Brown wants more athleticism in a younger player to pair with Kobe Bryant and Ron Artest to defend the likes of James, Dwyane Wade and Kevin Durant. One source involved in the talks said that Sixers coach Doug Collins "thinks Odom can play the [center] like [Mike] Krzyzewski had Odom doing in the world championships." Nevertheless, no deal was"
Sixers offically extend offers to Hawes, Young
"The 76ers on Wednesday officially extended qualifying offers to restricted free agents Spencer Hawes and Thaddeus Young, beating the June 30 deadline. Financial details have not been disclosed. Tendering the contracts gives the team the option to match any offer sheet that Hawes or Young signs on the open market. Hawes started all but one game at center for the Sixers this past season, averaging 7.2 points on 47-percent shooting to go along with 5.7 rebounds in 21.2 minutes per game. The team is looking for an upgrade to Hawes via trade, free agency, or Thursday's draft."
Sixers look for a pick that can help
"The issue for the Sixers is not whether they can get a franchise player in tonight's NBA Draft. They can't, and they know it. That's because the draft is considered deep for rotation players, but not for the much-coveted franchise players. The Sixers, who have the 16th and 50th picks, need a big man who can score and rebound, and a perimeter scorer. They are hoping to fill one of their needs in the draft. The other might have to be filled through a trade. For the Sixers, drafting a big man would seem to be the most likely scenario because there are many more of those players available as opposed to perimeter scorers. "We feel we can get a player at 16 who can help us," Sixers president Rod"
76ers, Lakers talk Iguodala deal; Wolves in play for Philly swingman
"The 76ers are continuing to explore trade options for Andre Iguodala, and league sources said that a deal with the Lakers involving Lamar Odom has been discussed recently. While it's unclear whether the deal has real potential or is still alive, it's yet another sign that the Sixers are determined to land an impact player while improving their salary-cap situation in any trade for their second-leading scorer and top defender. Iguodala is owed a combined $44 million for the next three seasons (including $13.5 million next season), while Odom is set to make $8.9 million next season in the final guaranteed year of his contract."
Report: Sixers, Lakers talk Iguodala-Odom deal
"After a short break, the Andre Iguodala rumor mill began churning again Wednesday, a day before the NBA draft. According to SI.com, The Los Angeles Lakers have discussed sending Sixth Man of the Year (not to mention reality TV star) Lamar Odom to the Sixers for Iguodala. Odom averaged 14.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and three assists per game last season for the Lakers, who were swept by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the playoffs. The Lakers would have to include another player – the report suggests Ron Artest – for salary cap reasons. The report also says the Minnesota Timberwolves may be offering the second overall pick in this year's draft for Iguodala. A rival general manager"
Thorn: Teams asking about more than Iguodala
"Andre Iguodala's name came up quite a few times Tuesday. The media asked team president Rod Thorn five questions about Iguodala, the versatile Sixers swingman, during a 15-minute chat after a pre-draft workout. Iguodala has been rumored to be headed to the Clippers (for center Chris Kaman) and Warriors (for shooting guard Monta Ellis), among other places. But Thorn declined to say that Iguodala was the main topic of conversation during Thorn's numerous trade discussions over the past three weeks, some of which he characterized as "meaningful." "I would not say that," said Thorn, who claimed no trade is imminent. "Obviously, with all the speculation, there have been some conversations that"
Thorn: Sixers might draft a big man, might not
"With the NBA draft countdown ticking toward 48 hours, Sixers president of basketball operations Rod Thorn did nothing to calm the sea of speculation about what will play out come Thursday night. If anything, he stirred the waters even more. "After the first maybe three or four picks, it's pretty wide open as to where people are going to go," Thorn said after the team's final pre-draft workout Tuesday. "So you have to be prepared for a lot of different scenarios and that's what we're trying to do." Two more big men strolled through the PCOM doors for the Sixers' eighth workout, with Thorn, general manager Ed Stefanski and assistant coaches in attendance. All told, the staff brought in 23"
Thorn talks ownership, draft and Iguodala
"These are busy days for Sixers team president Rod Thorn. The NBA draft is two days away. The organization is slated to pick 16th in a draft that Thorn called "pretty wide open" after the first four picks. The team's current owner, Comcast-Spectacor, is in discussions with prospective new owners, led by New York native Josh Harris, who is estimated to be worth $1.5 billion. The NBA's collective bargaining agreement will expire on June 30, and to date the owners and players' association remain worlds apart. And Andre Iguodala is rumored daily to be leaving the City of Brotherly Love. All that and still Thorn is calm and forthcoming and prepared for the road that lies ahead. The possibility"
Sixers have split focus between draft and sale
"The upcoming NBA Draft isn't the only thing on Sixers president Rod Thorn' mind. He has also been meeting with the prospective new owners of the team, and entertaining offers for Sixers guard/forward Andre Iguodala. Through it all, Thorn and the Sixers' brass are trying to figure out which players to take with their first-round pick (16th overall) and their second-round pick (50th overall), or whether to trade up or down in the draft Thursday. Despite the impending sale, Thorn said he is conducting "business as usual." Comcast-Spectacor is reportedly negotiating the sale of the team to a group led by New York billionaire Joshua Harris. ESPN.com reported two weeks ago that the sale was"
Jordan Hamilton likely to Philly; Flynn for Iguodala rumored
"Jordan Hamilton appears headed to Philly with the 16th pick, and sources said Monday the Timberwolves have offered point guard Jonny Flynn in a package deal for swingman Andre Iguodala. Philadelphia officials, however, have let it be known that they are not interested in a salary-dump deal for Iguodala and want an impact veteran in return."
Big man Motiejunas works out solo for Sixers
"Donatas Motiejunas wants to let his game do the talking. That's the reason Sixers director of player personnel Courtney Witte gave for Motiejunas' not speaking with the media after Monday's draft workout at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. "This is a workout where he wanted to let his game do the talking," Witte said. "His English is good. He's really an intense, focused guy. It was nothing against anything here." Motiejunas, a 7-foot, 240-pound Lithuanian power forward, participated in a solo workout with the Sixers, one of just four teams he will have worked out for in the U.S. He was in Houston on Friday and San Antonio on Saturday and has one more workout with the"
Sixers to bring in two bigs for final pre-draft workout
"The 76ers will hold their final pre-draft workout Tuesday, hosting Purdue forward JaJuan Johnson and center Guy-Marc Michael of France at PCOM. Though director of player personnel Courtney Witte said Sunday that Moreheard State forward Kenneth Faried, believed to be a good fit for the Sixers at No. 16, would work out as well, Faried will no longer participate. The draft is set for Thursday at 7 p.m. in Newark, N.J."
76ers' Iguodala gone this week?
"There's been plenty of talk about the Philadelphia 76ers dealing Andre Iguodala this offseason and HoopsWorld reports that he "may find a new home this week." The site notes that it seems as if the Sixers would like to get a deal done before Thursday's draft gets underway. The team has the 16th pick in the first round and would like to know if it's going to have Iguodala on its roster or not when it has to make that selection."
Lithuanian Motiejunas to work out for Sixers
"The Sixers will hold a pre-draft workout with Donatas Motiejunas of Lithuania on Monday morning at PCOM. The 7-foot, 220-pound Motiejunas tested draft waters in 2010 before withdrawing his name to play in Italy's top division with Benetton Treviso. A projected lottery pick, Motiejunas, 21, averaged 12.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, while shooting 58 percent from the field and 74 percent from the free throw line this past season. He is expected to be a lock for the first round. He has played on Lithuanian junior national teams since he was 16, and helped the country's under-18 unit to the silver medal at the Eurobasket tournament in 2008. He was named the tournament's MVP."
