Week 12 NFL picks

"TITANS 27, JETS 20: B-R-E-T-T Favre last squared off against Kerry Collins 12 seasons ago. Favre and Green Bay beat Collins and Carolina to win the 1996 NFC championship at Lambeau Field, 30-13, and the Packers went on to defeat New England 35-21 in Super Bowl XXXI at the Superdome. This time around, Collins, 35, has a better supporting cast than Favre, 39, and will move to 11-0.

BUCCANEERS 24, LIONS 17: Lions fans are speaking loud and clear, as the third straight home game is being blacked out in the Detroit area. Even without running back Earnest Graham, who is out for the season with an injured ankle, the Buccaneers should have a field day against the defenseless Lions, who have lost 17 of their past 18 games dating to last season. "Have we failed? Yes. Have I failed? Yes. Am I going to give up? No way. Am I discouraged? No way. I'm not," said Lions Coach Rod Marinelli, who apparently conducted his own midweek press conference.

BEARS 26, RAMS 20: After winning their first two games under interim coach Jim Haslett, the Rams have reverted to their old ways, losing four straight, the last three in lopsided fashion. They have gone into halftime trailing by 32, 40 and 17 points in those three losses, not exactly a recipe for success. The Bears are coming off their worst defeat in five years, 37-3 at Green Bay. The Rams will be without offensive tackle Orlando Pace (knee) and running back Steven Jackson (thigh). Haslett continues to pin his coaching hopes on quarterback Marc Bulger, who has a chilly 66.3 passer rating in his past four games.

DOLPHINS 21, PATRIOTS 17: I can't believe my eyes, but the Bill-Fish are favored to sweep the season series with the Patriots. It will be interesting to see how Matt Cassel follows up his breakout performance against the Jets (400 yards passing, 62 yards rushing, 103.4 passer rating) in one of the more compelling games in Week 12. All the pressure is on the Patriots. "We don't like them," Joey Porter said. "They don't like us." Where's the love?

COWBOYS 30, 49ERS 17: On paper, the 49ers should be nothing more than an annoying speed bump for the Cowboys. Look for Tony Romo, and his celebrated splinted right pinkie, to feel more comfortable in his surroundings after shaking off the rust last week at Washington. If the 'Boys continue to let Marion Barber do his thing and their defense stays focused, they can reach the postseason.

BILLS 23, CHIEFS 21: The Bills looked like a legit contender through mid-October, but they are looking more like the Counterfeit Bills of old after losing four in a row and five of their past six. An accusatory finger can be pointed at second-year quarterback Trent Edwards, who has thrown eight interceptions and lost two fumbles to go along with a safety in his past four games. "You start seeing things that you're not really seeing, and you're doing things that you're not normally used to doing," Edwards said. "Right now, I don't really have any good
