"Drop 'em, Shop 'em or Keep 'em
Invariably, there are going to be players on your team that you drafted because of certain expectations but for reasons unknown, they are under performing. Additionally, perhaps you picked a player off of the waiver wire early in the season that has cooled off. Should you cut them loose? Should you hold onto them? Below are a few players that have either not lived up to expectations thus far, or were grabbed from the waiver wire while they were putting up points.
Sergei Samsonov - Carolina Hurricanes - Samsonov has been somewhat of an enigma the past few years. He excelled in Boston and Edmonton; faltered in Montreal the following season, stunk it up in Chicago, then had a resurgence with the trade to Carolina last season. On the strength of his good numbers in Carolina, Samsonov was likely a late round draft choice. For whatever reason- some question his conditioning- he has done nothing thus far in 15 games with the Canes, despite playing on the first line with Rod Brind'Amour. It doesn't appear that Samsonov will help your team, in fact, at minus-8, he is hurting it, so now's the time to cut the umbilical cord if you haven't already. DROP
Bryan Little - Atlanta Thrashers - Little was unlikely grabbed on draft day but started the season strongly and was grabbed off waivers in most leagues. He had shown scoring prowess in the OHL but was only able to tally 16 points in 48 games with the Thrashers last season. This season is a different story as Little is playing on the top line with Ilya Kovalchuk and is having success. He has been consistent all season and stands with 15 points in 15 games with a plus-4 rating and 2 power play goals. Being he has shown scoring ability in the past, being he's playing on Atlanta's top line and considering he has been scoring consistently, hold onto Little. KEEP
Aaron Voros - New York Rangers - Voros is another player that was not likely selected in most drafts. Rangers Coach Tom Renney decided to team Voros with Brandon Dubinsky and Nikolai Zherdev. The chemistry worked as that line was one of the hottest to open the season. Voros also plays on the power play where he parks his big frame on the doorstep screening opposing netminders. In 17 games thus far, Voros has six goals and five assists with three power play goals and 34 penalty minutes. He has been a bit streaky at times, so now's the time to see if you can shop him for a player that may help you in other areas. SHOP
Maxim Afinogenov- Buffalo Sabres - Coming into this season, Afinogenov was coming off of back-to-back injury riddled seasons. This classified him as a "bounce back" player and this combined with the fact that this is his last year on his current contract made him a sleeper candidate. All he has done so far is put fantasy teams that drafted him into sleep mode with only one goal in the first 14 games. But let's look a little deeper here. He does have seven ass
