THE EX-FILES

"Every MLB organization has players who move on to success with other teams. But it is difficult to match the Indians for year-in, year-out Ex-File productivity. The 2008 season has been particularly bountiful. Here is a look at some of the notables (all stats through Tuesday):

Casey Blake, 3B, Dodgers - .333 (12-for-36), one HR, three RBI in 10 games.

The skinny: Continuation of superb season for Blake, who batted .289 with 58 RBI in 94 games with Tribe. Indians, going nowhere, made correct call to get something for him via trade. Cleveland has a chance to sign Blake as a free agent after this season.

Milton Bradley, OF, Rangers - .320, 19 HR, 60 RBI, .446 on-base percentage in 92 games.

The skinny: Difficult to tell whether Bradley's production is ever worth the baggage. Rangers are injury-prone Bradley's fourth team since Indians and manager Eric Wedge washed their hands in spring 2004.

Russell Branyan, INF, Brewers - .250, 12 HR, 20 RBI in 46 games.

The skinny: All aboard the Russ Bus, one of baseball's mythical figures. All he does is strike out and hit homers. He has 797 strikeouts and 133 homers in 762 major-league games. Began career with the Tribe in 1998.

Chris Coste, C, Phillies - .277, eight HR, 27 RBI in 68 games.

The skinny: Indians signed him as a minor-league free agent in 1999. He moved on to the Boston system after 2002 season. Once played in Independent Prairie League.

Jeremy Guthrie, RHP, Orioles - 8-8, 3.35 ERA in 24 starts."
