"Fast-food hamburgers, fries and chicken nuggets are about to make a return to the Dallas Cowboys locker room.
That's because the NFL is giving suspended cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones yet another chance.
Jones, a fan of McDonald's who often munched on those items before practice, was reinstated by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell on Wednesday, owner Jerry Jones said at a news conference in Arlington.
Adam Jones' teammates say he will be welcomed back and not just because he shared his fries with them.
"When he was here, he worked very hard, and he helped us out," quarterback Tony Romo told reporters in Irving before the announcement. "He's a good football player, and I don't see why you wouldn't welcome a guy back that works hard on the practice field."
Said nose tackle Tank Johnson: "He knows we're all with him, and we're never going to turn our back on him, and as soon as he gets back, it will be business as usual. I can't wait to have (No.) 21 next to me in the locker (room)."
Jerry Jones said Goodell decreed Adam Jones must miss two more games - Sunday against San Francisco and the Thanksgiving Day outing against Seattle. That means he'll return Dec. 7 at Pittsburgh after a six-game suspension.
Goodell suspended Adam Jones on Oct. 14 for his latest violation of the league's personal conduct policy, saying the former West Virginia star must miss at least four games.
Adam Jones also missed the entire 2007 season because of a league-imposed suspension.
The 2007 suspension stemmed from a string of incidents while he was with Tennessee. After being traded to Dallas in the offseason, Jones got another chance from the NFL but blew it when he got into an alcohol-related scuffle with a team-employed bodyguard.
As part of this latest suspension, Jones underwent treatment for alcohol abuse.
"He has demonstrated something very important to all of us," Jerry Jones said. "I do know he does have a good sense of where he is, and we could benefit from that."
But only if Adam Jones stays clear of trouble. And he'll have to do it this time without a security detail provided by the team, Jerry Jones said.
"He's a long way, a long way from having clear sailing," Jerry Jones said.
Adam Jones' return adds depth to a secondary bolstered last week by the return of Pro Bowl corner Terence Newman, who played a big part in the Cowboys' season-saving 14-10 win over Washington on Sunday night.
Jerry Jones said Adam Jones could return to practice Monday.
"He's just chomping at the bit to get back and come back and be successful," Johnson said of Adam Jones.
Jones was considered the Cowboys' best defensive back before the suspension, but that was only because Newman was sidelined with a groin injury. Many analysts considered Jones to be a disappointment because he failed to intercept any passes and averaged only 4 yards per punt return.
